Well… The hatching had ended and the night continued but still the blue followed her. Often times he insisted upon carrying her the places she wished to go but Naanell didn’t want to crush him. What little she knew of whers suggested they were wild beasts. Uncontrollable and hideous in nature yet she could see none of these faults in Naan… The blue. As much as she had tried to accept him into her life over the past little while it was still strange. She could not sleep because of the emotions in her head, the newfound link keeping her wide awake and yet she so wanted to sleep.
Naanell hadn’t even moved her things from the harper quarters. She resolutely refused to do so. She needed to speak to people first and find out what the heck was going on. As though he knew exactly where she wished to go, the wher walked in front of her, strutting through the corridors with an imperious sort of air, although perhaps that was Naanell putting a characteristic onto Naanesk. It was hard to think of him as Naanesk but even harder to think of him as just another wher. She understood nothing of this bond between them. O’wen would, he had Pirith.
Still, she would be a harper and although she had been assigned a room in the wherling barracks she didn’t understand what she was supposed to do. Still she would work in the crèche, nothing would stop that. What would she do during the day? By now she had at least learned that whers couldn’t go outside during the day but Naanesk didn’t have to go out during the day. Only she had to.
The blue kept dropping himself to the ground and pushing up strongly as though trying to build his muscles. Not to mention he was sprinting short distances through the corridors and then trotting back to join her. Run. Good for Naanell. Make strong. Naanell pursed her lips at the sound of the voice. She rubbed her forehead and then shook her head. “Maybe later.” The harper was not yet used to the communication style needed where she would have to speak to the wher in her mind. Besides, they had reached their destination.
Naanell held up a hand and knocked on the Alphahandler’s door, not entirely sure whether this was the person she should be speaking to. Given that the woman headed the entire program it made sense in Naanell’s mind.

"There we go. All done for now. Names, colours, Impressions, candidate backgrounds and stats, measurements... all done. How about that orange, Ausk?"
TINY. AUSK EAT. EAT FOREVER, NEVER ORANGE AGAIN.
"Yeah, I thought so."
Audren was in a good and playful mood. It had been difficult for her to sit still while she finished up the hatching paperwork, but now that it was (for the moment) as done as it could be, she stood and stretched her legs. Ausk had provided her with some entertainment, at least, and she was immensely glad for that. She was privileged to be the only person able to poke fun as the massive, violent red beast. It was very satisfying to make an alpha wher upset and not receive injuries as a result.
She walked over to sit next to her beast, who snuffled and tried to shove her away. "Oh, come on, we've been together for nearly ten Turns. Don't be a baby." She reached over and scratched Ausk's eye ridge, and the red was indignantly subdued. Ausk let out a continuous growl, though, just to make sure that Audren knew she most definitely was not happy about this.
There came a knock at the door, then, that made Ausk whip her head up and snarl. Audren stood and left the red alone, returning to her desk chair. "Come in," she called warmly. She didn't know who it could be, but she didn't care, either. Anyone was nice, especially anyone with a wher. [/blockquote]

Naanell waited at the door for an answer. She knew it would be a bad idea to just walk into someone else’s room. The harper had only been at the Weyr a short while now and already she was impressed to a wher but knew nothing of what this meant. From some small experience she had learned that Naanesk could not go outside during the day. Other than that she was woefully lost and very must behind on her harper studies. She needed to find out what she had to do and what was going on. However, she also knew very little about the nature of reds other than what had been said. To Naanell, all whers and dragons had the potential to be as volatile as the next creature.
When she heard the call, Naanell walked into the room and briefly took a glance around the space before bowing her head. This woman was unknown to her as was Kalenna, the handler whose wher had hatched Naanesk. The blue, for his part, walked into the room with his head held proudly and strongly high. His wings, as barely passable as they were, stood straight up in the air as he looked over at Ausk. The wherling bowed his head a little to the red. Look. Could lift Naanesk think. Have been training. Strong now. Have lift Teeny. “No.”
Still she wasn’t used to the communication with the wher but she did eye the blue carefully hoping he wouldn’t crush himself. With the days and moments that passed, Naanell couldn’t help but feel incredibly protective over Naanesk… Not to mention other strange emotions. “Greetings alphahandler Audren. I am Naanell, an apprentice harper with Dalibor Weyr. This is… Well… He says his name is Naanesk.”
For a moment, Naanell appeared confused as she looked at the blue and then back to Audren. “I… Well I have many studies to attend to... I don't know...” Naanell cleared her throat, "I don't know what I'm doing." The first time she had ever even half asked for help. Normally she just battled through things on her own but she had no idea what else to say.
