(OOC: So the puppies are old enough to be given away! All you have to do is tag in to be considered! Names will be put in a randomizer for picking order. You can have your character interact with the pups however they like before names start getting called. This will help out by showing other members which you/your character perfer, but naturally doesn't garuntee you that pup. And because I forgot, you can choose their eye color when/if you get one. Don't forget, if not enough people show up, you might just walk out with two! And the giveaway isn't restricted to humans, so everything can attend!) Twilight. That perfect hour of the day where the dragons and their riders were winding down to go to bed, while the whers and their handlers were getting up to start their day. A'lec had his arms crossed over his chest as he looked at the litter of puppies between his pink's front legs he had wound up with. Apparently Maggie had found herself another dog and got herself pregnant. But he couldn't care for all of them at once, even if he wanted to. But they had finally reached the age where they were old enough to give away. He quietly took control of Tinikth's mind, and announced to the entire Weyr. For all those who are interested in owning a pup, head down to the Bowl and head for the pink. All are welcome to attend. With the message out, he waited for people to show, chuckling as he watched their antics. The little white female explored her surroundings. She sniffed around and attempted to jump over Tinikth's leg. With an annoyed yip, she hit the leg and flopped onto the ground. This would just not do! There were things out there, things she should be seeing! So despite her failure, she tried again. Meanwhile, her dark brown sister had found something. She sniffed and pawed at it, then settled down to chew on the object of interest. Idly, the dark colored tips of his ears twitched, and the male lifted his head from the paws of the same color, watching his sister chew on his tail. He started to paw her away, but decided it wasn't worth the effort. Even the small noise he let out of his mouth was half-hearted. He didn't understand why they all couldn't just lay here and watch all the pink. The pink was nice, after all. But he did have a 'savior.' Out of nowhere, a bolt of brown tackled into the chewing pup, knocking her to the dirt. With a bark, the savior pup told her sister to stop chewing tails. Along her head, a mask of a slightly lighter color graced it, covering her muzzle and going up along her head, just past her eyes and covering her ears. She examined her brother's tail, and after making sure it was fine, guarded it. The darker toned sibling approached for another go at the tail, but her sister took a step forward. She would protect her brother. Yes, she had her mind set on this goal, ensuring his tail would not be chewed on.....wait a second....was that...a rock?! She gave a pleased yip, her brother forgotten about as she pounced on the pebble. Almost out of sight in the fading light, the smallest pup there watched silently. There was something about that rock, the black pup thought. He didn't know what, but he would have to be careful when examining it the moment his sister was done. He didn't want to provoke an attack. Puppies. Puppies, puppies , puppies!!!!
Mine. Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine! I have a request!~ [/i]
Yes, Abyrath? Ka'mond felt himself brace for something crazy, because with a comment phrased like that, something was up.
I do believe you need a pet! Why don't we get.... Oh, say.. A puppy? They're fluffy, and small, and cute...... Annnnnnnnnnd there is a litter being given, or shared!! [/color]
The pink was wiggled with excitement and hope, tail wagging as if she were a puppy. You, my wonderful Abyrath, are plenty enough for me. I am not lonely-----
Abyrath instantly flicked her tail tip against Hers's mouth, the touch sharp but no harder than a ginger kiss, though it was a ginger prod..... Change of plans!!! I need a pet. A puppy, because.... Well because I just muuuust! Life can not be complete without a 'littler one' or two about. Can't you see me? I could care for it, and I am so much more careful about squishing things. Because I am tiny. I like this idea. Of course you will agree......! Beeeecause, if you loooove me, you'd want me to be happy, and a puppy would really make meeeeeeee happy!!! [/color]
Ka'mond couldn't help but smile, his silly pink. I suppose it wouldn't hurt. I had a herd-dog mutt once, he was a simple creature. We can always try, and if not, I'll get you something.
Abyrath bounced around before going for the group with whom the puppies were with. Couldn't she just have them..... All? Yes, she would like to keep the, all!!!!

Jazz! Jazz, JAZZ! Tinikth is giving away PUPPIES![/i]
"I heard," Jazz said with a laugh. "I'll be right there." For now, she hurried to the door of the candidate barracks; hopefully any of them who intended to head to this event would be passing by, and she had to give each of them the pet spiel once again. Yes, they were allowed to have pets if they wanted to, but they needed to think long and hard about the fact that in just a few sevendays, they might have an infant dragon to care for as well. Did they want the responsibility of training a pup at the same time? It might seem like a lovely idea right now, but could they live with themselves if their canine had to be taken from them because it adversely affected their weyrlinghood? And she had personal experience of that, too!
But if they were prepared for it, Jazz of course was all for everyone in the world having loads of pets. Hopefully she could make it to this handout in time to get one for herself; it had been far too long since she'd had anything but a half-mad whersport.
Fortunately, Weslieth did not need to stick around while Jazz performed her duties. He was very happy for Ablath and Wenth, and he'd practically forgotten that he had not been selected to get a pillie for his Jazz, but he still carried a strong determination to make his rider happy. If she couldn't get to the puppies in time, maybe he could! Soaring down from his ledge, he landed nearby, but not so near as to distress the little creatures.
They are so lovely and precious, Tinikth![/i] the yellow dragon cooed. I love them, I love them. I love them all. Hellooooo.[/i] Weslieth had absolutely no preference, his eyes flicking from pup to pup, and he told the pink dragon, Will you tell Yours that Mine is not here yet because she is busy, but if we are allowed, you can perhaps give one of them to me? And I will bring it to her, very carefully. We haven't had a pup in, oh, it must be three turns now![/i]

Leave it to Darah to find puppies. After all, she was a good She-dog and hers did love her so naturally more fuzzy things would be fun, yes?!? The black and white herder sniffed around, nose out to detect the milky scent of pups. Yes, pups were definitely the bestest! "Daray get back here now!"
Suya tried her bet not to scream, tried her best not to alert the others nearby. Daray had entered the area where the Weyrling was giving away the pups. Sighing in frustration as the canine crawled toward them, the candidate pushed some hair from her face that had fallen from the messy bun. "My apologies, I have her.....another would be nice but..." Well she was a candidate and she had duties as a candidate, and a candidate had to be the best right? Especially if it were her. How could she possiblybe more perfect than her sister if she had a new pup to train.
When Daray looked up at her with those pleading brown eyes however it was just too hard for the candidate to say no. Biting her lip and groaning, the girl shook her had and sighed. "Fine! ......I'll take one of them, trained her myself."

Fel had just finished with their wing drills. She’d heard that Thread would probably fall in the next couple of days. It always made her feel a little nervous. Ever since that day when that O’wen Weyrling had turned up in her Weyr completely unannounced, broken all her chairs, built a fort and encouraged her firelizards to be hyperactive… Well, things had actually been better. The aggression she had taken out on her furniture certainly made her feel as though a weight had been lifted. She’d been happier and back in the Weyr a lot more, interacting with people.
Dhanuth touched down in the Weyrbowl and Fel stood in the straps, crouching and bracing herself for the jolt. Moving with Dhanuth as he landed on the ground. Fel unstrapped herself and then moved her way along his back to the wings. It had been a smoother landing than normal. Often Dhanuth had trouble with the landings because of his awkward build. Muscles bunched as he crouched slightly to allow Fel an easier jump off the dragon’s back. That landing was much better than earlier. It was one of your best ones. Thank you, Fel. You like canines? Fel was surprised and frowned a little at the memory of Lacky but nodded. That’s all they were now, fond memories of a time passed. Why yes. I had always wanted one of my own. There is a child dragon giving them out over there.
Fel turned and looked, one foot resting slightly on Dhanuth’s leg as she worked to undo the straps on the dragon and loosen the harness. Leg dropped back to the ground as she looked at them. She did want one. She’d always wanted one. They’d missed the call apparently because they’d been in Between at the time of the call. Fel looked at Dhanuth. Do you want a canine? It would be good. Perhaps it could herd the firelizards.
Fel laughed and nodded. That was true. If they could get a pup that might be able to keep an eye on all the flits it would make things a little easier at times. Fel made up her mind and walked over to the small crowd gathered, watching the pups as they meandered around the small area. “How much are they…?” Fel muttered thoughtfully. As a former trader, she still wasn’t entirely used to the thought of just getting things or giving things for no cost.

Puppies! Meena was a huge fan of puppies. She didn't expect to be able to take one home, but at least thought it was worth it to stop by for a visit. Just to watch them run around.
Clad in her usual oversized blouse and bare feet, Meena ran over to where the puppies were playing. Standing against the wall, she watched as one puppy chewed on another's tail. Then, a third puppy saved the second one by tackling the chewer. Meena giggled.
So far, the masked puppy was her favorite. she decided. That one was a masked crusader of sorts. She decided she would name it Super Puppy, at least in her mind. The chewing puppy was to be called Joker, because it seemed to be a troublemaker, and the puppy who was chewed on would be deemed Sloth, because he just didn't seem to care that his tail was being chewed on. The only other puppy she noticed was a pure white one, attempting to jump onto the dragon, and that one she deemed Snowball.
Meena giggled as Super Puppy pounced on the pebble. Super Puppy, saving Pern, one rock at a time.

Feoran had been planning to visit his father again that day, but for once, he was dreading it quite fiercely. He had asked himself - quite a few times, actually - why he was still planning on going when he was so tired and R'fus was clearly indifferent to it, and had sorted that it was some sad kind of determination. Maybe this would be the start of something good - this day, right now. He was sitting in his small, modest room in the lower caverns, deliberating.
He was so very tired. It was getting to be dark and he had been working all day, and R'fus was the sort of man that sapped all the energy from Feoran. He shook it up - worked him up, made him flustered, made him angry - and then sapped it all out. The very idea of walking up all the way to the rider's weyr was exhausting. The boy was subconsciously looking for a good reason not to go. At least, not tonight. If he didn't go tonight, he'd go tomorrow, just to clear his stupid conscious.
Then, his secret plea for an excuse was answered with the voice of a lovely pink dragon. Puppies! Feoran adored dogs; he'd never had one himself, but he'd seen a good many around his homehold, used as guards and guides and friends. It was an impulsive and childish thought that drove him to his sore feet. I've always wanted a puppy! Or, maybe, he had always wanted a firelizard, but considering the implications of having a draconic creature hanging round his neck, a puppy was even better.
A pink dragon was not easily missed in the flat, expansive weyrbowl, and Feoran was quick to shuffle over to the growing crowd of puppy-lovers. His tight muscles made it awkward, but he managed. His shoulder smarted quite badly from all the vigorous floor-scrubbing. The puppies made it better, though. They really did.
"Oh my shells and stars," he breathed excitedly, grinning with his gap-teeth. "They're so precious." He caught himself gushing and stopped before it got too bad, but he was still jittery on the inside. His body still felt tired, but at least his mind was waking up. The puppies were quite the opposite of his low-life father. It was just what he needed. [/blockquote]

The approach of people had happened rather quickly, as A'lec had expected. The first to arrive happened to be a rather purple-ish hued, small pink. It was cute watching her bounce her way over to them. Hello......you w-would like a pup, yes? Tinikth asked the all too obvious question. The next arrival happened to be one of the few yellows of Dalibor, And Tinikth nodded her head gently. Mine, Weslieth wishes to know if it is alright if he brought one to His, since she is so busy. "Of course it's alright! If she's busy, she's busy. I understand she has important things to do." He told the yellow.
With a dog being the next to show up, A'lec had to wonder if any people would ever come, but the dog was followed shortly by it's owner. He waved his hand away at the apology. "It looks like she knows what she wants." When the girl gave in to the dog's pleas, he smiled. "Don't worry. I'm sure you'll be able to handle any fuzzball that you pick."
A fourth person, this one a rider, soon followed, and began asking how much the puppies were. "Not even a sixteenth! All these puppies you see here are completely free of charge. Unless you consider housing them a charge." he said while shaking his head. Someone else came too, but didn't speak, instead giggling at the pups as they played. And as it seemed, there was one more to arrive, at least for now. A bit of giddiness seemed to leak from the man, but he was quick to stop himself. "No need to put a cap on that. No one would blame you for being excited."
Since it seemed that the arrival of interested people and dragon had slowed, A'lec decided to start things off. "Alright, I feel this is enough people to start everything. Well, first things first. If you don't know me, I'm A'lec, and the pink is Tinikth. Now before I start giving them away, I believe I will allow you all to play with the pups for a few minutes, to get them accustomed to you all, and frankly because it'll be pretty cute." He nodded towards the two dragons to let them know they could do so as well.
"All I ask is that you be considerate of the others, so don't spend all your time on just one pup. When I'm ready to hand them out, then place them down and wait till you're called to grab one. Now, then. Tinikth. Release the hounds!" With that, Tinikth opened her arms and moved to the side, letting the young dogs run freely around. Meanwhile, A'lec kept a lookout for any late arrivals in the growing darkness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The moment that Tinikth had completely opened her arms, before any of the others had a thought to move around in the much wider area, one single ball of fluff rocketed out towards the group. The mottled pup yipped happily as he found himself with more room to run. This was so much fun! He could just run on forever! And he pobably would have, too, had it not been for the group of people and dragons there. With another yip, he turned his body around and headed straight for Fel, barking excitedly at her before darting off again, Tinikth keeping watch on him to make sure she wouldn't have to retrieve him.
The one pup that Meena had deemed Super Pup hardly noticed the dragon had moved at first. She was busy chewing on her rock, trying to see if there was something inside that she wanted. However, when she did notice, the rock fell from her half-open jaws. Where did that thing go? It was here a minute ago, now where was it? Either not seeing the nearby pink or not putting two and two together, she huffed and sniffed the ground. Leaving the slobber-covered rock as forgotten as her brother had been.
And with her gone, her black brother now stared at it. He had been startled when his safe-haven had moved away, but now there wan't anything stopping him from approaching the rock of interest. Very slowly, he approached it waiting to see if it would jump up and attack him. A rather sudden push from behind had him yelp, and he turned around to see his brown brother pushing him towards the rock. The black turned to face him, but kept a reasonable distance. Which only had the brown cock his head and continue pushing. He was helping! His brother wanted to see the rock, so he would help him see the rock! A bit more thinking would've proved bringing the rock to him was much easier than bringing him to the rock, but the thought never seemed to make it that far.
With an annoyed bark, the black nipped at his larger brother, but it did no good as he was continued to be pushed. With a gentle nudge, their grey sister had decided to break it up, kindly pushing her siblings away from each other. It appeared obvious to her that these two needed her, so she planted herself in between them, not willing to move and allow the brown to continue his pushing.
With the three of them being occupied with each other, the white puppy thought better of taking them on her adventure. She didn't want to go exploring this new open space with them fighting like that. She needed someone who wouldn't argue while on her adventure. Idly, she went to her lazy brother, who apparently hadn't moved at all this entire time, and gave him a lick and a yelp. He should go on an adventure with her! It would be fun, wouldn't it? She had managed to nudge him to his feet, and he took five steps before flopping back down onto the ground. He didn't feel like going on adventures. He would, however, like to have her lick him some more. It felt nice when she did that.
Realizing he was a lost cause, she looked around. There was her sister with the stripe running along her back, but she had found that Suya's shoe was quite tasty, and had begun chewing on it without a care in the world. It was then she came across the pup with the black neck, who had obviously been avoiding the other pups. She gave him a yip, wagging her tail excitedly. Maybe they could go on adventures! But he just dipped his head and gave a small whimper. He wasn't good enough for her adventures. At least, not in his mind. He'd really only slow her down. So he just stayed where he was, nervously watching his sister.
Before the attempt to convince him otherwise could happen, several barks finally answered her want. Licking his slightly-lighter colored muzzle, this pup responded enthusiastically. He would! Yes, he would! He would join her in ALL the adventures! Satisfied that she had a partner, the white barked and ran towards the group, her brother not far behind. She took him in between Meena's legs, though instead of going between them, he just collided into her. Deciding that hadn't worked, he went around and ran in a random direction, thinking that maybe he should have his own adventure!
He yipped excitedly, then saw Feoran and had an idea. He jumped up, hoping to clear over his head with style and grace, but only succeeded in crashing into his knees. He got up and shook himself off, then went to sniffing Feoran excitedly, yipping at him when done. The white, meanwhile, had taken an interest in Weslieth, sniffing one of the massive claws, to her and gazing up at the sight of the yellow. She decided to continue her adventure on him, at least for now, and tried to think of a way to get to the parts of him she couldn't see. Elsewhere, the sniffing of 'Super Pup' had led her to Abyrath, or the tail of more like. She watched it, almost mesmerized by it every time it moved. Whenever she thought she could get it, she would attempt to pounce, only to watch it again.
(Naturally, you can play out the pups' reactions to whatever your character does with them.)
Owethu sat at a table in the dining caverns enjoying a cup of warm cider. He always liked to have a warm drink at the end of a hard day’s work because it helped him relax. He yawned then threw back the rest of the cider before standing up. His intention was to go back to the barracks and do a little reading but before he could so much as take a step foreign words broke into his subconscious. The adolescent froze his mind immediately jumping to the hatching but relaxed when the words explained the call was for a hatching of a different sort. ‘You are being stupid,’ Owethu told himself, ‘You know that the hatching won’t be for another few sevendays yet.
Owethu didn’t even stop to marvel at the feel of another dragon’s mind on his. These intrusions seemed to becoming more frequent the longer he stayed here and he was growing accustomed to it. He bit his lip considering the offer the dragon had made. He had always wanted a pet of some sort maybe not a canine exactly but a fire-lizard certainly. Eller had absolutely forbidden him for acquiring any sort of creature though. ‘I’m not looking after you and an animal!’ That was what she always said to him when he was younger. He had hated it at the time but he could see her point now. She had had enough responsibility when he was younger with their mother off sailing and their father always off in the mines.
‘It’s probably not a good idea anyway,’ Owethu thought. The dragon hatching was not that far away and if he Impressed, like he hoped he would, he would have more than enough responsibility with a baby dragon. The Candidatemaster had made sure to impart how much work a baby dragon required. ‘It won’t hurt to look…besides it is on the way to the barracks’ He said trying to convince himself that he was just going to look, ‘I doubt I’d get one anyway…there’s sure to be lots of interest …’
It wasn’t difficult to find the pink stationed out in the Weyrbowl with a semi-large crowd of people gathered around it. He approached hesitantly, hovering near the back not wanting to get in anyone’s was. He was tall enough though to see the litter nestled between the pink forelegs. A blissful smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he watched the antics of the puppies. He chuckled as the pup with the dark tipped ears let his sister chew on his tail. The candidate couldn’t help but make a comparison between him and his sister. He had always just sat by and let Eller and Wethu tease him mercilessly. When the pink moved off to the side to allow the pups to roam freely, his eyes traveled to the tiniest, all-black pup that began to nervously edge forward to the rock his sister had abandoned. He watched as the other pup took it upon himself to push the nervous pup towards his goal before looking back to the dark tipped ears once again being protected by another one of his sisters.
Meena listened to Al'ec's schpiel, bouncing on the balls of her feet as she did so in anticipation. She was so happy that they would get to play with the puppies! This would make it so much easier to decide which one she wanted. Right now, they were all so adorable and playful, with little personalities of their own. She wanted all of them! But of course, she knew she would be leaving with only one.
Release the hounds! And of course, the puppies stampeded. Meena grinned as she watched the puppies run this way and that, sniffing and running and chasing each other around. She watched Snowball run around, her brother, who she deemed Robin, following in pursuit. Snowball ran right between Meena's legs, and Robin attempted to do the same. Instead however, he collided into her.
Meena gave a small giggle. "Aww, poor guy." She bent over to pick him up, but he shot off after his sister, slipping right between her hands.
Sighing, Meena stepped a little closer to where the puppies were, and got down on her knees, siting on her haunches. If she was down at their level, it would be easier to interact with the puppies more, she thought. Looking around, she found a small, smooth rock that fit neatly in the palm of her hand. She picked it up, and looked around at the puppies, making noises to try to lure them and trying to make eye contact. Finally, the large brown one with the white tuft caught her eye. "Hey boy, come here..." she said, holding up the rock. He walked toward her slowly, curiously sniffing.
"Annnd.... go get it!" She tossed the rock off to the side a few feet away. Ears perking up, he chased after the rock, pouncing on it. After a bit of struggle trying to get it into his mouth, he trotted over and dropped it in front of her. Staring up at her, he appeared to be saying 'I see that you lost this. I brought it back for you. Try not to lose it again.'
So, due to how slow this handout has been moving, I'm sure you all wish to RP your pups by now. So, for Roleplaying reasons, all you have to do is post an OOC post of which puppy your character chooses and their name. You may still have an IC post, but it's no longer neccessary. If you do, you can have A'lec motion to them in any way when their turn comes. There are three spots still open and people are still welcome to put their character in. I you already have one in, please state whether you want them to try for a second pup as well, and if there is still an unclaimed pup by the end, they will be put in a second randomizer. ~~~~~~~~ As A'lec watched all of the pups romp around and play with each other and those that were gathered there, he gave them a decent amount of time before having Tinikth round them all up once again. Once all of them were safely secured around her pink tail, A'lec gazed around for a minute, before pointing at someone. "You. Why don't you start things off and choose the first puppy." The order deemed by randomizing 30 times
1.Abyrath 2.Feoran 3.Meena 4.Fel 5.Owethu 6.Weslieth 7.Darah
Abyrath would like to claim PUPPY NUMBER TWO please!!
And would like to be given her other 9 puppies as well *cough* could she go for round 2??
And just because... -----
Abyrath was delighted to see the puppy stalking her tail. When motioned to, she wagged her tail as if she thought she was a pup. I do think this one quite likes me! Or... I really looooove it! I shall name her.... Um... Um...hmm.. Scout! Because... Well because she is the finder of adventure! Yes, she will go on many great journeys... Yes!!
Ka'mond smiled, bending to pet Scout, but Abyrath butted him over. He watched Abyrath dumbfounded, even as Abyrath delicately nuzzled the masked pup. This is my puppy. Myyyyyyyyyy pup. Nope. You may not have. Noooo, she's mine. Minemineminemine. And her name is Scout. Not trout, or doubt, or pout, or um stout, or... Just Scout!! [/i]
((Feoran would like to claim little puppy #9! He's definitely going to have his hands full, so he'll pass on being considered for a second.))
---
Feoran grinned and laughed to A'lec out of mild embarrassment, but naturally, he was still entranced by the puppies. They were retinal magnets disguised as balls of fur with stubby little legs. They were also proving to be more warming and relaxing than any hearth fire or cup of klah, and a de-stressed Feoran was more than ecstatic to feel a tiny skull bash against his legs. Maybe, any other time, he would have jumped, but he'd seen the tail-wagging little beast coming.
"Ha!" He bent down to pet the pup. "You okay?" And he rolled it onto its back and rubbed its tummy enthusiastically. The puppy barked, licked his light muzzle, and tried to wrestle his way back onto his feet. Bark, bark, bark! Feoran kept him pinned, though, and the puppy squirmed with much gusto.
Feoran looked up to a finger pointing at him and a particular pinkrider's voice. He smiled wide. "Can I keep this little guy?" he asked. Then he lifted the pup up into his arms and had to hold tight to combat the dog's energetic floppiness. "Shells, though, what'll I name you?" Bark! "Willy? That's pretty terrible, isn't it. Pretty much the worst. Well, next to Spot or Shadow, maybe." Willy tried to free himself, but Feoran was a great bit taller and, even if he wasn't impressive as far as humans went, was impressive against a baby dog. "Sorry, Willy. I think it's stuck now. Forever." Willy barked and chewed on Feoran's finger.
"Hey! You stop that!" Feoran squawked, and finally questioned what he was getting into.
Oh well, he though. Just like he said - it was stuck now. Forever. [/blockquote]
((Dammit, you guys claimed my first two choices! Oh well, then Meena claims puppy number EIGHT! And yes, also going to pass on a second puppy.))
---------
After the puppy that Meena had been playing fetch with trotted off, she looked around, trying to find another rock. It had to be large enough for a puppy to pick up, but not too large. As she looked around in the dirt, suddenly, crash!
The white puppy, who had been climbing around on a dragon, had decided to slide off. Then, overcome with momentum, the puppy formerly known as Snowball came running at Meena. With Meena sitting in a precariously unbalanced position, the puppy ended up knocking her over backwards, and sitting on her stomach.
Meena giggled. "You're energetic, huh girl?" The puppy barked happily. Meena propped herself up on her elbow. "You wanna be my new best friend? We can go on so many adventures together!" The puppy barked happily again, wagging her tail and licking Meena's face.
"Alright, perfect." Meena grinned, lifting the puppy off of her stomach. "You know, I think I underestimated you at first. You're more than a snowball. You're..." she gasped. "You're an avalanche. Avalanche! Or Ava for short." Ava barked in agreement.
Meena walked over to where A'lec stood. "I'm taking this girl home with me." she said with a smile. Ava wriggled around in her arms. "I mean, if she'll let me." Meena said with a giggle. "What is it, Ava?" Ava pawed at Meena's forearms. "Oh, you wanna be let down? You must not like being held, huh..." She put the puppy down on the ground, where she stood faithfully by her side.
Fel was surprised. Having been raised as a trader she knew nothing ever came for free and even though she had been at the Weyr for almost four turns of her life so far, it still surprised her when moments like this one occurred. When people were perfectly willing to just give something away because they simply could do nothing else with it. Immediately, she put away her marks and looked back at the puppies. Choose one.
Normally, these kinds of decisions took her so long. She had three firelizards already but for some reason she had always wanted a puppy. Perhaps it was that Xiro had taken that away from her and she had always wanted to replace that… Her eyes fell on one of the puppies that she had noticed from the outset. He was small and seemingly defenceless. She wanted to protect the little black puppy. He seemed separated from the rest of them.
“Hey little fella…” Fel bent and gently scooped the puppy into her arms. She couldn’t help but be reminded of her beautiful Dhanuth in that moment. The dragon who had given her so much hope and love. She loved him and from the moment she had seen this puppy she knew she would love him too.
The puppy whimpered a little at being lifted from the safety of his home and even snuffled softly, almost trying to pull away from her. He was wary but she knew he was also safe here and brought him towards her chest, cradling him in her arms. “Can I have him...? Can I have Ash?”
Through the fires and destruction she had encountered in her short life, there was always something to grow out of it. Ash could bring new life and hope. A very apt name, Fel.
{{Puppy 1 for Fel please ^^ Also might claim a second with another character depending.}}
((I’ll choose pup 6, please! Unless anyone else particularly wanted him!))
Owethu looked surprised when the pink rider chose him to receive a puppy. He glanced hesitantly at the Candidate master. She’d warned them that taking on new pets this close the hatching was risky. He bit his lip wondering if he should step aside and let someone else take his place but then…it wasn’t like it was likely that he’d Impress…there were plenty of candidates and few eggs. A puppy would be nice to have. It’d keep his bed warm during the winter. The Candidate barracks were not a well-insulated establishment. He watched as the others began to pick their puppies out of the litter. When it came to his turn though, he just stood there and stared. They were all so cute. How could they choose with such decisiveness? He bit his lip but then finally took a step forward. He held out his hand to the pup with the dark tipped ears letting the pup sniff it. He licked the back of his hand cheerfully and Owethu knelt down letting the pup crawl into his lap. “Hey there little guy,” The shy lad cooed to him, “How about I call you Hermy? Does that sound like a good name? Does it?” The pup yapped and his tail wagged so hard it almost shook his entire body. Now that the pup was in his arms, he seemed content to just lay there. “Hermy it is then.”
Suya waited as Daray ran around the group of pups, sniffing and licking a few that gave her attention back. Yes, yes another packmate would definitely be a good thing! Packmate find, packmate find.....ah! Barking and wagging her tail at the grayish brown puppy, Daray sniffed the creature then barked again. Yes, yes this was her new packmate. The grey puppy wagged her tiny tail, yipping in return at the older female, her ears perked and body alert and happy. "I guess that one. Uh....how about Ana as a name?" The grey puppy yipped again, running after Daray.
The candidate sighed, shaking her head as Ana toppled over in a heap, the girl's arms dipping down to capture the pup up in her embrace. Despite what she may have wanted others to think or see, Suya loved her canines and this one was held tight to her body. "Okay, okay, easy little one." Voice almost gentle in the way she spoke, the candidate nuzzled her nose in against the pup's scruff breathing calmly for the first time in a few days. "Thank you." Looking up at the rider she nodded her head before petting Daray's head and leaving for her own weyr.
[Puppy 7 please.]
(Pup three, please!)
Weslieth stayed well back from the pups, knowing that his enormous presence might stress them out, shifting from paw to paw as he eagerly awaited his turn. Oh, Jazz was going to be so happy! He loved all the puppies, so he felt nothing but joy when each of his colleagues selected one.
I will take the rest,[/i] he proclaimed, and then dipped his head to count his paws. Hmm. He had four paws, and he could grasp with all of them, but it might affect his flying, and he needed some paws free to land on! I will take two, maybe, if there are any left! First I want...I want her.[/i]
He gently scooped up the little orange striped pup who had chewed Suya's shoe. She immediately began to gnaw one of his claws, and Weslieth beamed mentally at everyone, settling back on his haunches and bringing her up so he could eye her. Yes, his Jazz would love this curious, precious creature. She would be so happy and surprised! And now he would wait to see if he could have another, though it didn't really matter all too much if not. Everyone else would be happy with two, also, after all, and Weslieth just wanted everyone to be happy.
