"Hahaha" Corian shouted as he ran down towards the lake brandishing a stick before him. His shouts of elation could probably have been heard by the entire Weyr that was how happy he was. He loved everything about being a candidate but he loved when he had some free time the most. It was a time when he could allow his imagination to run wild. Hence, here he was, trailing one of his shirts behind him as he ran towards the lake. "There is no mightier Pirate than Corian!!" He shouted plunging into the shallows of the water.
Of course, he was sixteen years old and should probably grow up but he was having fun for the moment and there was no one around to spot him let alone some of the higher ranking members of the Weyr. He wasn't doing anything wrong he was merely having fun and there was no law against fun on ones day off. He held the battered shirt out behind him pretending it was a sail in the wind and, indeed, if one squinted and tilted their head to the side it did look something like a mast.
More importantly Corian loved just sitting near the waterfall and watching the ripples appear in the water. He wasn't a good swimmer but he was decent enough that he could swim in the shallower parts of the lake. It was huge and so beautiful. He was simply so content with life. Not even the last hatching could get him down. It had been a couple of days since he had once again failed on the sands but he couldn't care less at the moment simply pleased to have his day off. He couldn't see another person for miles, not that he was really looking. He gave up his being a pirate and instead tied the shirt around his head to protect himself from the sun as he ran through the shallow water causing water to splash everywhere.

Their day of their test was almost upon them, but today was a day off. Catori was already in a bad mood, after running into O'ris again. Neither of them had said a thing to eachother, but just the sight of him had made the green weyrling boil. That was why the pair had made their way towards the lake. Truthfully, she was hoping to see X'mor here, but that was turning out to be a false notion. Instead, she spotted another person playing in the water. She slid from Koketeth's back and jammed her hands into pockets in her pants. She idly wandered towards the lake. At first, her face showed her annoyance from earlier in the day, but then amusement began to creep over her fair face. ''What in the name of Farnith are you doing?'' She giggled, as she leaned onto one foot, only a dragonslength from the boy. She recognized him. Se rememebred seeing him around, but she didn't know him personally. Regret for not knowing him personally was already dinging in her head. Why didn't she know someone this amusing? Well, X'mor and Frino were amusing, but this boy seemed to be childish amusement. Yes, maybe she could add him to her boy collection.

Corian ran around in the water for a while longer getting slowly more tired. He was about to stop completely when he heard something. He turned and yelled in surprise as he spotted a girl nearby. In rather comical fashion, he fell completely in the water and then quickly stood again wiping his eyes and face to better grasp what had just happened. He squinted a little and then grinned. "Why, what else would I be doing except traversing across the whole of Pern in search of treasure beyond your wildest dreams!" As he spoke his hands moved in a dramatic fashion as they were wont to do when he was over enthused about something.
At that moment he actually realised that this girl must have been a rider of some description, although her Green looked a little smaller than the fully matured sizes. Still, he bowed to the both of them as was polite and then grinned. "Greetings to you, I'm Corian adventurer extraordinaire!" It just so happened that this was the most fun he had. When he was making up rather random stories and having a blast pretending to be things he wasn't. He was certain that when he had real cause to feel like an adventurer, when he had been impressed, he would forego this behaviour. Then again, if he impressed a playful dragon or even a serious one he imagined that he would become all the worse...
He wandered forwards a little so as to better see and speak with the girl pushing a sleeve of the shirt from his face. He thought he'd spotted the girl before... He tended to make a note of the faces of all those with Dragons but he didn't always remember precisely who they were. He liked to know who people were but his facial recognition skills were, if nothing else, abysmal.

Catori about burst out laughing as the boy fell backwards into the water. She let out a heavy sigh, trying to calm herself. Behind her, Koketeth was already letting out a dragonic laugh. Her eyes whirlled with happy, laughing colors. Catori tried to ignore her dragon as the boy stated what he was doing, and then introduced himself. She smiled in her normal, flirtty manor, and crossed her arms. Her eyes looked around for sticks. Might as well join in on his games, right? Oh yeah!
Her blue eyes landed on a pile of sticks and she picked one up and pointed it at the boy with a laughing face. ''Catori of Green Koketeth. Might I join your adventures? It's been some time since I've protected my treasure from a pirate,'' She giggled happily. She lowered the stick and rolled up her sleeves, exposing her thin, but fit arms. She then fixed her shirt collar, and subconciously brushed the scars on her neck. ''What do ya' say? Think you can beat a girl?'' She teased as she pointed the stick at him again and began to circle with a flirtty, and happy smile. Her eyes glittered with excitement.

Corian was pleased when he heard the draconic laugh. Gaining a little more confidence he thought he would be able to keep this up. Catori seemed a decent type and not all that likely to set Koketeth on him. Thus, Corian placed his hands on his hips, threw his head back and then laughed.
"Thou Defender! Of course you stand no chance against me! I am Corian Adventurer, Treasure Hunter and Pirate! None shall ever best me in single combat."
While Corian practically shouted this he rushed forward, grabbed a stick and spun it around flourishing it in a dramatic fashion. Of course, in reality it was more for show than anything else as the 'moves' would have been practically useless in actual combat. It was a good thing he was a Dragon candidate and not an actual adventurer or pirate.
"Thine friend is certainly large... And strong... And a little scary... but she will not be of any use to you against me!" He shouted again after a moment of brandishing his weapon.
He hoped he wouldn't wind up in Koketeth's belly for such a comment but they were playing Pirates! He could hardly refuse to include the Dragon when she was sitting right there. It hardly seemed fair that she should miss out on the fun that they would have. Still, he was a little concerned that Koketeth would take some sort of offense to his statements. Well, he had only to hope that he tasted nice enough.
(ooc: are there pirates in Pern...? I thought I read that there were pirates somewhere... But I only just thought about that... O.o Oh well...)

Shailen wandered listlessly through the empty Candidate Barracks. It was a nice day, so most of the others were preoccupied with something fun, but it was far too sunny outside for him. Despite that persistent reminder, Shailen kept glancing towards the glow of day coming around the corner of the tunnel that lead outside. At home his father and brothers had gone outside during the day to work, which had not sounded appealing enough to draw him out, but here- what did people do outside here? Ever since he had arrived he had been exceptionally curious about everything going on around him. Everything was so new! It was scary sometimes, for sure, but almost always exciting.
When he heard the shouts from outside Shailen drew closer to the tunnel, and as it continued and was joined with more laughter he could stand it no more. Darting into his room he grabbed the huge, floppy hat his mother had stuck on his head as he had left. It spanned the width of his scrawny shoulders and cast a shadow over his face and the top of his chest. The rest of him, as always, was already covered with long clothing. For good measure he wrapped a scarf around his neck. He stood there for a second, nervous and excited at the audacity of what he was thinking of doing. Trembling with a mixture of the two emotions, he glanced at himself in the glass on the wall and darted out the door.
The Candidate boy raised his arm in front of his eyes as he made his way slowly down the tunnel, on hand touching the sturdy wall for guidance and support. It was so bright! How did people normally deal with this? Slowly, however, his eyes adjusted, and after standing inside of the mouth of the tunnel for a few moment s he could finally see outside. Immediately he was awed- It was brilliant! Shailen had been brought to Dalibor at dusk and had only ventured out around that time, but now the Bowl was illuminated and every fine detail showed. Mouth unconsciously dropping slightly open, Shailen looked around in wonder.
His admiration, however, was interrupted by more splashes and shouts. Looking in their direction, he saw a boy, drenched in water, pointing a stick at a girl and shouting. And not far behind the girl was a dragon! Eccolath, who had searched him, was the first and only dragon he had ever seen up close, but he had been so stunned that he had not really looked at her. Now, however, he was astonished by a dragon so close. It was a Green- huge to him- and as lovely as any dragoness he had ever known. He strained to hear what the boy was shouting and was delighted to hear some strange talk of treasure and adventure.
And just like that he was hooked, fascinated by the antics of the boy by the lake. He looked out longingly, desperate to get closer and watch, but Rubkat shone on. Not far away, though, was a shadow cast by one of the cliffs that connected to one of the bridges nearby the lake. Shailen’s head reeled and tingled as he measured the distance and weighed the decision in his mind. The sun was definitely too strong for him to be in it yet, and just the shadow wasn’t going to do, but the bridge…. With his hat and the clothes and the solid shade cast by that he might be okay. Taking a deep breath he tried to calm his suddenly shaking legs and pounding heart. I must be crazy, he thought, but pushed the thought away as it arose and ran. Throwing himself out of the tunnel he flew with incredible speed, both hands holding down the large hat, to the bridge where he then collapsed, panting. To anyone watching the mad dash had been no big deal, done in the flicker of a wick, but to Shailen it had been a daring feat that bordered on stupidity. It had been terrifying and traumatizing- but also liberating. He had done it.
Recovering himself and backing into the darkest part of the shade, Shailen looked out eagerly at the now close game of pirates. He was practically dizzy with excitement as the adrenaline coursed through his body. Such exertion and disregard for danger (sunlight=”danger”) was a very rare occurrence, so he basked in it, amazed by his own actions, until he was again absorbed by the fantastic people and their game before him.
((Hope y'all don't mind my odd thread crash- it looked WAY too fun to pass up!))

Catori giggled happily and sidestepped around the boy, as if sizing him up. She poked him in the sides as she moved, and with a still grinning face, growled at him. ''You dare insult my Flirtatious steed?'' She acted hurt, and only ended up busting out laughing again. She made her way to the front of the boy again and lept at him, swinging the stick just inches from his face. ''That will be your fatal mistake, cocky young pirate!'' She laughed as she tried to not break down with giggles. Her lungs hurt from her laughter, but she still moved about, poking at the boy with enthusiasum. ''Dare to fight the protector of the sky!''
As if a signal, Koketeth let out a playful, but still deep and viberating roar. She stood on all fours, and in a couching position, started forward. Her eyes whirrled happy yellow as she stalked the boy like a cat would a mouse. Her head jerked up, though, when she heard frantic feet moving behind her. Her green dappled head raised and twisted to look at the boy. The young green let out another dragonic laugh as she reached her mind out to all three humans happily. All will fear the Flirtatious Steed and her Riding Protector, Especially when the Steed has the MAGIC CASTER! Koketeth let out a playful growl as she bounded to the boy whom she didn't know. She wrapped her neck around him and looked back at Hers and the boy. COME MAGIC CASTER! Let us play...i mean...help! Koketeth let out a giggling hum and looked at the candidate with happy, friendly eyes.

Corian laughed as he spotted a boy running from the tunnel and into more shade. It seemed odd but he could play along for now. "What sorcery is this? The sun is a danger to me!? Foul trickster." Corian shouted. He brandished his stick for a short while then attempted to rush out of the water. He noticed at least that Koketeth was not about to swallow him whole and took this as a good sign. He then darted towards the rider, Catori and laughed heartily.
"Protector of the skies! Thine treasure shall be mine! My second over there will assist me!" He shouted again and lunged lightly towards Catori. He aimed not to hit her at all knowing that this would be a very, very bad idea, not only with the dragon eating him but also simply because he knew how much trouble he would get in for harming a rider. He was not only looking out for Catori but also himself in this sense. He couldn't afford to be kicked out. Therefore, the stick merely brushed past her as intended.
He stopped abruptly as he heard the voice of a dragon in his mind. Flattered and a little surprised he turned to the Green and laughed. "I challenge you Flirtatious Steed. Release my second or face the consequences of my wrath!" He adopted another stance pointing the stick at Koketeth once again.
He wasn't sure who the boy was but who cared? Corian needed a second in the fight and the boy that had now been wrapped up by Koketeth would have to be that. Or else he would be the prisoner of Corian Mighty Pirate! He flicked the stick around a couple of times and darted forwards and back.

A fear greater than any he had thus far known dawned on Shailen when Kokoteth snapped up and twisted her head to look at him. His heart dropped into his stomach and his body again became weak as she turned and bore down on him, uttering some sort of noise that he had never heard. That was it; he was going to die right there. His mother would be so angry, he realized as Kokoteth bounded in slow motion. He hoped it wouldn’t be too painful to be eaten by a dragon. He hadn’t meant to be spotted, after all. He was finding out too late, and on his very first venture, that he wasn’t cut out for this sort of fun. What a shame. He squeezed his eyes shut, knees buckling, and hoped for the best.
To his immense surprise and relief, however, her was met with a voice and not teeth. Daring to open his eyes, he found Kokoteth snaking her neck around him. SHE WAS GOING TO SQUEEZE HIM TO DEATH! Wait… no. She was playing. With him? It slowly dawned on him that he was being included in the game. It was hard for him to grasp because for some reason it seemed impossible. He had never gotten to play games like this. He didn’t even know about games like this! And he had never been spoken to by a dragon before. The feeling was bizarre but incredible- like someone was really talking to him, but not aloud. When the alarm passed he looked up at her in amazement. Her voice was light and carefree, which somehow fitted her just fine.
What had she called him? A magic caster? What on Pern does a magic caster do… he wondered hopelessly, already overwhelmed. To make matters worse, the boy in the lake began to shout and wave about his stick some more. What had he called him? His second? What does a second do?? he wondered, head roaring in protest at the small contradiction. And before he knew it Corian was before them, demanding his release from Kokoteth. Whose side was he on anyway? For lack of a better action, he pulled his hat down tighter on his head for protection.

Catori was almost on the ground with laughter as she watched both Koketeth and Corian. Koketeth seemed to be having too much fun, then again, she was pretty sure they all were. She watched as Corian pointed his stick sword at the green dragoness that was almost embracing the other boy. Now was her chance. With a large grin placed on her face, she slowly crept forward with her own stick tight in her grasp.
Koketeth let her tongue flop out of her maw as she looked at Corian. Must I eat you too, Fearless law breaker? I will get fat from such sweet meals, but I will! She crooned and let a dragonic laugh and smile form. Her eyes swirled with colors as she looked at the boy with the hat again, and blew air towards him with her nose. The hat looked interesting! Why didn’t Hers wear a hat? She wanted Hers to wear a hat! The young green huffed air again, trying to blow the hat off of his head. She had already forgotten about the boy pointing the stick at her. She wanted this funny thing! Again, she huffed, this time harder, and let out a humming croon as she watched the boy’s clothing and hair flutter in the wind she produced. Magic caster has nice hat. I want a nice hat! MINE! Where can I get a nice hat? Maybe we can all have nice hats! She warbled to all three of them as she lightly touched the hat with her nose. She let out another croon and pulled her head back quickly, as if startled by the feeling of the material on her nose. She immediately touched her nose to the hat again. This time she crooned and didn’t move. I want a nice hat like you, Magic Caster!
As koketeth rambled about the hat, Catori snuck up on Corian. She approached him from the back and flung her arms around his neck and the point of the stick in his back. She laughed slyly and leaned so that she could see into his face. ”I think you are dead, valiant theif,” She laughed more and let him go.

Slowly Shailen realized that the strange sounds coming from the dragon wrapped around him were happy sounds- something like a human laugh. Kokoteth vibrated in her mirth, rubbing her cool, smooth hide against him lightly. Leaning forward just a little he could see a myriad of colors erupting in her eyes. They were like rainbows, all refracting a million different ways. When she turned to him he was nearly lost in their splendor.
When she blew a stream of air at him, however, he blinked with surprise, pulling himself back into the real world, and grabbed his hat. She had nearly blown it right off his head, but he had caught it just in time to pull it back down again. A small smile appeared on his face when she tried again, this time harder. Kokoteth was playing with him! He didn’t mind at all that his hair, clothes, and hat flapped around him as she tried harder and harder to get it off. And it only made his smile grow when she leaned forward to touch her nose to the hat, only to pull back in surprise. Almost immediately she began to babble about her and him and Hers and everyone getting hats before putting her nose back to it with another happy sound.
Shailen could have played with her all day, but his attention was again drawn back to the other human players of the game when Catori began to laugh. Though her weapon was only a stick, Shailen was shocked to see it firmly stuck against Corian’s back. Didn’t that mean he had been slain? His heart sank a little, for though he was firmly wrapped in the girl’s dragon, he had somehow seemed to be on the boy’s side. He had been, after all, challenging Kokoteth to free him when Catori had got him. He was so creative: he was a pirate king! And brave and fun- Shailen couldn’t let him lose.
”B-but the magic caster has enchanted the flirtatious steed with his magical hat,” Shailen spoke up shyly, forcing himself to come to Corian’s aid. His voice was quiet so he had to raise it as best he could to be heard. ”So not all is lost.” The end of his speech came out as more of a suggestion than an assertion, and when he had finished he unconsciously shrank back into the dragon that he was supposedly enchanting. Some help.

Corian was still laughing in his hearty way thinking how wonderful it was to have a Magic Caster as his second when he thought he heard something behind him. He shrugged it off and continued to pay attention to Koketeth knowing that the Flirtatious Steed could eat his second in a heartbeat. He couldn't very well have that. He flicked his stick around as Koketeth began talking of eating him. Well, he would have something to say about that.
"Magic Caster, my second, shall protect me for all shall cower at his might, even the Flirtatious Steed!" He was about to dart forwards and begin skipping forwards at Flirtatious Steed when he felt something.
He turned his head slightly and saw Catori behind him her stick held against his back and her arms flung around his neck, holding him in place. He placed his hands in the air as though in surrender and dropped the stick. "You have me Protector of the sky..." He replied.
He looked over at Magic Caster attempting to communicate with his second without words. He needed his ally to do something to free the both of them. Something had to be done! At that moment, as though Magic Caster had read his mind, he spoke up... Quietly at first and then a little louder.
"Haha, good work Magic Caster! What shall you do now Protector of the Skies. Now that Flirtatious Steed is enchanted by Magic Caster's hat you stand no chance against us! Release me and Magic Caster may consider lowering his enchantments!" He practically shouted in triumph

Catori was lost for a moment in her own hilarious, confused, shock. Then, once she understood, She couldn’t help but laugh at the two boys. They were smart. She had to give them that! Clever little moves on their part! ”OH SHARDS!’’ She cursed as she lept back, away from Corian, as if in fear. ”She is always enchanted by that that is pretty!” She cried as she held in a spurt of laughter. She stepped back more, putting a dramatic frown on her face. ”Flirtatious steed! Come back to me!” She called out as she held her hand out to Koketeth dramatically. This time, she couldn’t hold in her giggles and started laughing.
Koketeth understood the new twist to the game and crooned as she pushed her head to Magic Caster boy. Her eyes still danced with happy colors as she looked at Hers. I’m sorry Mine, but Magic Caster has me locked in his magic! I must eat you now![/b] Koketeth let out a playful roar and leapt from around Shailan and towards Hers. I will save the Thief! Magic Caster orders it! She crooned as she landed just beside Corian and looked at him happily. She was having too much fun. Her maw lolled open as she turned to look back at Hers. Waiting your order, Thief, she crooned with laughter as she lowered her head, and raised her rump, playfully. Catori was it tears with laughter. It made her think of when Koketeth was little and pounced on everything that moved. Like a puppy, that’s how she looked. Catori was about to fall to the ground, but kept herself steady as she watched them. ”T…ha…Traitorous Steed! HAHA!” She laughed and pointed the stick at them all.

Shailen stumbled a little as Kokoteth snaked her way around him and leapt out from under the bridge (where he was still hiding) and leapt towards Corian and Catori. All wrapped up, literally and figuratively, in their game of make-believe, he had forgotten that he was hiding at all. He had done it! He had saved the Thief! Pulling his hat off his head, he waved it in triumph at Corian, beaming from ear to ear. He was giddy with pleasure at Corian’s praise and their unorthodox success.
Inhibitions forgotten, he called out to Kokoteth. ”Protect the Thief, Flirtatious Steed, for he is my ally!” Though the battle seemed to be almost won, Shailen began to develop his character as the Magic Caster. It was simple and impromptu, something the others would probably not notice, but his imagination had no limits and fueled an entire persona for his little wizard under the bridge. He stood up straighter, more confident, and his eyes shone as if they really did twinkle with magic.

Corian laughed jovially when he realised that they had enchanted the Flirtatious Steed. The battle was all but won! There was no way that the Flirtatious Steed could escape Magic Caster's enchantments. Corian was free and the Flirtatious Steed was asking him for orders! They had won this battle! He saluted the Flirtatious Steed adnd stood straighter.
"The battle is all but won, Flirtatious Steed, we must take the Protector of the Skies Captive and then force her to show us where the treasure is! I am certain it is hidden somewhere buried." He replied looking over at Magic Caster.
Magic Caster seemed different somehow. Had he cast a spell rallying his morale? Anything that worked to win the day was fine with Corian. Then again, there was always the chance that the Flirtatious Steed would break free of her enchantments and turn on them. He would have to watch for any signs of faltering loyalties. She had been enchanted once, there was no guarantee that it wouldn't happen again. He pointed his stick at Protector of the Skies.
"Now, you will lead us to the treasure!"

Catori was holding in her giggles as she tried to look serious and almost scared. Tears of laughter were rimming her eyes, and she had to take a few deep breaths to calm herself. ”My treasures? Why would a protector have treasures? I give to the poor! I have no treasures! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!” She threw her head back in her evil laugh as she sliced the air with her “sword”. Her eyes then looked back at Corian and she approached him slowly, the stick outstretched in her hand. ”Now you will fall,” She growled through her laughter as she got closer and closer to him. She stopped only feet from him and glared at him. As she stood there, Koketeth started to growl again and she lowered her head, as if she was getting ready to pounce on Hers. ”You cannot beat the light, you evil fiend!” She growled as she stepped closer to Corian and glared at him. The one step was enough to send Koketeth bounding at Catori with a roar. NO ONE HARMS MY NEW MASTERS! Heheheheheheheheheh~ Koketeth’s whirled with blue as she pounced on Hers and lightly grabbed her by the legs in her maw. She raised her head from the ground, turning Catori upside down in the air. ”STEED! I KNOW YOUR WEAKNESS! COME BACK TO MY SIDE!” Catori giggled as she pulled out a random white cloth that was in her pocket. Koketeth placed Hers back on the ground and blinked as if in confusion. Catori stood back up. ”HA HA HA! Nothing can beat my Magic….cloth…..” She frowned at the cloth for a moment, then laughed. ”Shards, that sounded stupid,” She scrunched her face up as she laughed and looked at the two boys with a huge smile. Koketeth rolled her eyes and turned to Shailen and bounded towards him again. This time, she grabbed his hat in her maw and bounded away with it. MINE! I GOT HIS MAGIC HAT! She sang happily as she escaped away from the shy magic caster. NOW WE HAVE THE MAGIC!

Everything seemed to be going well for Shailen and the Thief. The Candidate was a bit scared when Kokoteth took the Protector of the Sky in her jaws and turned her upside down, but he quickly garnered that the Green was just playing and Hers wouldn’t be hurt. Kokoteth was too kindly to hurt even a VTOL. She hadn’t hurt him- she had been nice and played with him even!- so she must be good. He smiled to himself, feeling, for once, like he had achieved something on his own.
The anticipated victory, however, was literally snatched out of his hand. ”My hat!” he cried in surprise, reaching out after it in futility as Kokoteth bounded away. He had allowed himself to get so wrapped up in his thoughts (since the main action of the game was taking place a bit away, not under the bridge) that he hadn’t even had the time to notice the Green bounding towards him and react. He wouldn’t have been able to do anything even if he had seen her coming, but that consoling thought did not occur to him as his hat trotted out into the sunshine.
Bringing his hands up to either side of his face, Shailen pressed them against his face and then ran then through his hair, tangling his fingers in the white mass for lack of a better action. He wasn’t sure what stressed him more at the moment- that his hat was gone or that the magic was gone. He was stuck beneath the bridge until dark without the hat, but he was a Magic Caster without Magic too, and absolutely no help to the Thief. He eye contact with Corian from across the ‘Bowl, lost as to what he could do next. The action was in his comrade’s court now.

Corian pounded his fist when the Protector of the Skies told him she had no treasure. He flicked his sword out a little at her about to accuse her of lying to him. All people kept treasure hidden somewhere, she was lying to him. The treasure had to be somewhere nearby, besides, she would not have fought him if it were not for trying to protect her treasure. He backed away a little as she approached him, talking about how he would surrender. In his opinion, they were actually winning The Flirtatious Steed was on their side after all. Then she pulled something from her pocket. Shards! A magic Cloth! Why had he not taken that off her?
He pointed his stick at her and assumed a defensive position but, at that moment, he heard something else. The magic hat! It had been taken! Magic Caster was weakened and the Flirtatious Steed had betrayed them as she had the Protector of the Skies. He turned around when The Protector was distracted and spun around her running over to stand between her and the bridge as The Steed bounded past them. He ducked out of the way of the dragon and backed away a little, heading towards his second. "You fools! You think the Magic Caster's power is in the hat alone? What was the hat touching before you took it? It is all but worthless now!" He laughed again as he neared the bridge.
They would have to move now, they would have to lead them on a right good chase throughout the Weyr. There was no doubt that there was some treasure hidden in the Weyr and Corian was not about to let it be hidden from him. He was a Thief after all and with Magic Caster at least they could bluff their way through to getting the treasure they deserved. He brandished the stick again, holding it out as though trying to defend himself and his small band of brigands... the Magic Caster...

Shailen watched the Thief’s progress with an intensity perhaps a bit too strong to be suited for a mere game of make believe. But it was more than that for him. Though they had hardly even met, Shailen felt a camaraderie with the Thief. He had accepted him into his world of magic and hidden treasures without a second thought. He had neither mocked nor questioned him, merely accepted. For a young man out in the world for the first time, with no real friends of his own- Shailen really wanted to win the sharding game.
Shailen stood at the ready as the Thief moved towards him, waiting boldly (for him) right at the edge of the shadow. Not at all surprised or disappointed, Shailen was delighted to hear the Thief’s clever response, which again tipped the scales in their favor. ”That’s right!” he echoed, backing up the declaration. ”The hat is nothing without me! The magic resides within the Magic Caster!”
By then the Thief had backed almost all the way up to him and was shielding his Second courageously. Something about his stance, tense and never still, put Shailen on edge, though. It was almost like…. He was about to run. Shailen peeked around him nervously at the still sunny day. The shadows were just beginning to stretch across the ‘Bowl, so evening was coming, but not just yet. ”Thief?” Shailen whispered timidly to the other boy; ”The, um, Magic Caster is powerless in the sun…”

Catori had to think fast. Her mind raced as she thought of something to do or say. Even as she thought, she giggled and grinned. She backed up a few steps but also arched her walking to somewhat circle with Corian. Her smile only broadened as she thought of what to do. The only thing to do was to do the thing she was best at. Oh yes. She could bend these boys. Or at least one of them, so that she could win this game. She waited for a moment, grinning and giggling more and more, earning laughing croons from Koketeth. Koketeth was just as amused by the thoughts that were dancing in the mind of Hers. Suddenly, with speed, Koketeth bounded between Catori and Corian, and Catori danced towards Shailen the magic caster. She danced around him for a moment, before putting one arm on his shoulders and leaning into him. ” Oh, Magic caster. Wouldn’t you rather fight for the good?” She crooned to him in her best, flirtatious voice. She pet his face, trying not to break down and giggle. She loved this feeling of flirting again. It had been sometime since she had flirted. ”There are rewards. Rewards beyond your imagination, Magic Caster,” she whispered into his ear, shooting Koketeth and Corian a glance.
Koketeth was ‘dancing’ with Corian, keeping him restricted to one area. Her eyes danced with blues of different shades. She crooned as she moved with him, and occasionally butted him with her nose or tail tip. She was enjoying herself way too much.
Catori was enjoying herself as well. When did she not enjoy herself when flirting? It made it even more enjoyable when the boy was cute. Then again, both of them were cute and worthy of her flirts!

Corian's smile faltered a little as the Green charged towards him. He was forced by the Flirtatious Steed away from his second. The Magic Caster had been approached by the Protector of the Sky and she was obviously attempting something. She seemed to be speaking to him quietly about something. Corian was still being somewhat detained by the great Green before him. There was little he could do... Unless he managed to run through the legs of the green somehow... He circled around a little, away from the Magic Caster hoping that his Second would be able to resist the lure of treasure. They were going to find it anyway.
"Don't listen to her Magic Caster! She's lying to you!" He shouted, still pointing the stick at the Flirtatious Steed. He was butted with the nose of the Steed more than once and was forced ever backwards, away from Magic Caster and the Protector. He never took his eyes off her though as he moved backwards. At that moment, he charged forwards, dodging around another nosebutt and attempted to run under the Green's head, ducking under the jaws as best he could and making to run back around the Green.
"Magic Caster, you must resist her, she has nothing to offer!" He shouted again. Of course, considering that he was a thief it wasn't really the side of good. Still, surely, being a thief and all, he's have more treasure than what the Protector of the Skies could offer. Although, they were after her treasure, perhaps she was offering to tell the Magic Caster where it was.
Unfortunately for Corian, he was far too enthralled in the game that he barely noticed the fact that it was a game. Of course, he knew it wasn't real but his mind had just about taken him somewhere else entirely. Where he was dressed in clothes fit for thieving and held a sword not a stick and where the Green was a gigantic beast before him. As such, even though he was laughing and smiling, he truly was caught up in the moment. He tripped and fell on the ground between the foreclaws of the Steed. He scrambled to get to his feet, losing precious time as he did so.

Shailen was forced away from the Thief when Kokoteth bounded between them, driving Corain back and splitting up their defense. ”Thief!” he called, but it was useless. The big, bouncing Green could easily out power them both. He watched with dismay as Kokoteth sent him sprawling over backwards with the mere push of her snout. They were going to have to get smart to get out of this one.
Then, the Protector of the Skies moved in and began to work her own kind of magic. Shailen had been so preoccupied by the loss of his partner that he had not even noticed her approached. He jumped when he felt an arm slip over his shoulder and suddenly she was in from of him, leaning in towards him, her body inclined towards his. She crooned to him, her voice full of some edge he had never heard before. She was… what was she doing? The way she was speaking and the way she was moving- it made him feel kind of funny. His white cheeks became a deep red and he stuttered an unintelligible response. He had never thought about it before, but he supposed that being a sidekick to a thief wasn’t really fighting on the side of good. Was that bad? And what rewards came from fighting for the side of good? Treasure? From the way she said ‘rewards’ he thought there might be something more. Shailen gulped. His body tingled when she whispered into his ear, so close that her lips almost touched. What was this sorcery!?
Just then, thought, the Thief made a break for it and called out to him, breaking her spell. “You must resist her, she has nothing to offer!” Corian’s voice echoed. That was right- what could she have to offer him! Just because he wasn’t on the side of good didn’t mean he was on the side of bad! He could steal from the rich and give to the needy… or something. Wanting to act fast but not really knowing what to do, he grabbed her sword and turned it on her. ”Stand back, Protector of the Skies- you cannot enchant a Magic Caster!” That’s right, he was a Magic Caster! THE Magic Caster. Inching the stick forward, he touched it gently to her forehead. ”This spell makes you incapable of wielding a sword, so you are at my mercy. Call off your beast!” he commanded with newfound confidence.

Shards! Catori cursed mentally as Shailen turned on her. She was certain that she had changed him. Shards. She was having fun with that and she loved how his cheeks changed colors! Oh well. She could just beat him up now. She didn’t need her sword. She had her arms and legs, and that was enough. So, she shrugged and knocked the stick away and with her foot, pulled Shailen’s legs out of under him then ran away to Koketeth. Koketeth was still chasing Corian like a cat chasing a mouse. Her croons filled the air and her tail lashed side to side happily. Catori leaned up against the green, panting heavily from her sprint to her dragon. She looked at both boys, and laughed. This was getting crazy, but she didn’t want it to end, no matter how tired she was getting.
As she looked from one boy to the next, the oblivious Koketeth changed her position, and her tail swiped her rider in the legs. Catori let out a startled yelp and fell onto her back on the ground. She lay there for a moment, out of breath and startled. Koketeth, realizing what had happened, turned away from her “mouse” and loomed over Hers. Mine! Oh, Mine! I am so sorry! Are you alright? Your Koketeth feels bad! Are you hurt? Koketeth’s eyes whirled with bright, worried colors as she looked down at hers and wondered why she wasn’t getting up. Catori laughed and shoved Koketeth’s nose away. ”I’m fine, I’m fine. Shards! That hurt,” She laughed and just sat there, waiting to see what the boys were going to do. Her back ached already, and she was certain that she would have a bruise on her legs and back tomorrow.

Corian managed to get to his feet and continue his merry little dance with the Green before him. He, however, grinned his lopsided little grin, when he realised that the Magic Caster had broken out of whatever kind of magic the Protector of the Skies was attempting to work. He realised, a little belatedly, that he was still being chased about by the gargantuan Flirtatious Steed. He continued to dart out of the way for a short while until something caused her to become distracted. She turned around and Corian realised at that moment what had caused the lapse in concentration.
The Protector of the Skies had fallen down and was still on the ground. Tripped over by the green's tail. Corian grinned triumphantly but it began lapsing into laughter. He held his stomach with one hand, almost doubled over, as he approached her holding the stick out before him. "The Protector of the Skies has been all but subdued! Surrender and lead us to the treasure you have hidden away!" He stifled laughter as he spoke but almost couldn't hold it in anymore.
He took a deep breath and turned towards the Magic Caster. They would have to move into the shadowy places so Magic Caster's weakness would not be discovered. It was amazing that the boy had thought of something so original! He turned back to their foes. Corian was almost so enthralled in the whole fiasco that he didn't want it to ever end. He didn't even think to check whether or not The Protector of the Skies was uninjured. He simply took it for granted that she was playing along. Of course, there was one thing to remember about these games of the imagination and that was that neither side generally allowed themselves to lose. They always thought up something new to keep the game going. And that was how Corian liked it.
"On your feet, you will call off the Flirtatious Steed and the two of you shall be our captives..." He laughed and grinned, "Magic Caster, are you alright?" He glanced towards the other boy with his smile firmly maintained on his face. He really wanted to go on a treasure hunt throughout the Weyr, so they could find the hidden goods. Sure, they could be good and bad. He was a thief but that didn't mean he wasn't open to giving some charity.

Shailen was shocked an unprepared for Catori’s next actions. Rather than being affected by his spell at all, she merely shrugged it off. Turns out, Catori didn’t need a sword. Before he knew what was going on, Shailen’s legs were out from under him and he landed on the ground with a thump. Surprised and with the breath knocked out of him, Shailen could only lay there as the Protector of the Skies skipped away. I should have cast a better spell.
When Shailen mustered up the strength to prop himself up, he noticed two things: first, that the Protector of the Skies was now on her back, knocked over by her own Flirtatious Steed (karma?); and second, that the shadows were beginning to move. The day was finally coming to an end and Rubkat was moving down towards the horizon, but that stretched the shadows long a far, making them difficult to use as cover. He scooted himself backward hastily as he noticed the proximity of the reddening light to his foot. In just a while he would be free to play all over the Weyr, but from now until then, the sun would be really strong.
Shailen looked up to the Thief when he called him. ”Yeah, I’m okay,” he called back faintly. He would have been far more concerned for Catori had he not been so concerned for himself. What could they do now? Spotting his hat on the ground, discarded by Kokoteth in her worry for Hers, Shailen called out again, stronger this time to Corian. ”Thief! The magic hat!” Not only could it advance the plot, but he needed it!
