"RUN CIRRUS RUN!"
The shout resonated around the area of the Lake as a teen sloshed his way through the mud, stick held in his hand and a Blue Flitter trailing behind. The Blue didn't seem to be paying too much attention to His, dropping down into the mud every now and then, picking up a leaf and then dropping it again. Corian, on the other hand, had one goal in mind. Protect the Weyr and the eggs from Brigands! They were attacking and he had to protect the Queen. He turned to face his assailants and brandished the sword. "Fools did you really think you could attack a Weyr!?" He shouted.
Cirrus, the Blue, had caught up to him now and landed on his head, pulling at his hair a little and the makeshift cape made of one of the older sheets he had. It had been ripped accidentally when the Flitts had landed on it so he had ripped it more and made it into a cape. He had other sheets and didn't see the point in letting this one go to waste. It billowed out rather nicely in his professional opinion.
He brandished his weapon, spinning and slashing the air with extreme vigour. "The Dangerous Guardian will destroy you all! Attack Cirrus!" He shouted. Cirrus chirped happily at his name being used and then Flitted off to find something interesting to play with. Corian watched the Flitt for a moment and then defended an attack. "We're being overwhelmed! We need assistance."
To an onlooker... Corian looked quite mad.

This had been a relatively peaceful day up until now. Peaceful as in boring, Xirofel thought bitterly to himself, loping around the Bowl for what felt like the thousandth time. He was surprised there wasn't a rut worn into it yet from his constant rounds -- his and Qosis'. The other trader, he knew, was in the habit of running too, but he didn't know if the giant followed the same route. Granted, he himself didn't always; he had a habit of cutting away at random locations on a spur of the moment in order to follow some 'new' path.
Breaking away to follow a new route was exactly what Xiro was doing at this moment. Lakeeti bounded ahead of him, occasionally turning to glance back at her master, but suddenly she stopped and began to bark. Simultaneously, the sounds of someone yelling met the trader's ears, and he slowed, coming to a halt next to his disgruntled canine. She barked again, then whined anxiously, and glanced up at him.
He could understand why the canine was concerned. There was someone there at the edge of the lake, brandishing a stick and yelling something about dangerous guardians, attacking, and needing assistance. For a moment the trader simply stood there and watched the boy flailing about, quieting Lacky with an affectionate ear-scratch. And then, deciding that this looked like fun, he thanked his lucky stars that he hadn't worn any of his favourite clothes today, grabbed a stick of his own off the ground, and leapt into the fray. Lakeeti stayed behind, lying down to watch her owner engage in the lunacy.
"I come to offer my aid in defense of the Weyr!" he roared, ignoring the irony of his own statement. He really wasn't a fan of the Weyr, but this looked like just the kind of thing to distract him from that very fact. The trader sprang into action next to the other, battling his own imaginary foes and slashing about with the stick in a rather more disciplined fashion than his odd, caped companion. He himself had actually fought brigands, and it didn't take long to find that he hadn't forgotten the knack -- even if his current opponents were invisible. "There are more coming from the south, friend! It'll be a long battle!"

Corian started a little upon seeing a newcomer arrive. Apparently he was trying to assist! Of course! They had to drive the brigands back to whence they came! He nodded allowing the new person to assist. "Defenders of the Weyr we are, you fools don't know what you've gotten into, HAR HAR!" Corian slashed at the air once more, "Back ups! We'll hold them off Day Defender!" He spun and worked with Day Defender, having given a name to the other boy, in order to fight back against the assailants.
Cirrus had abandones his and Flitted his way up to scrutinise the new creature. This thing looked FUN! Maybe he would be able to have fun with it! It was more interesting that the crazy actions of His. Cirrus found His fascinating enough but sometimes there were just more interesting things out there. He chirped at the creature and Flitted around it's head, chirping happily. He landed on the thing's back and tapped it lightly on the head with his tail then jumped to his feet again to fly around the creature's head.
Corian, meanwhile was overwhelmed. He fought as best he could, steel against steel, fighting against those who would harm the Weyr's eggs! Those that would attack. He gritted his teeth and threw a couple from him. He looked over at Day Defender and attempted to assist. "There's too many of them! We're being overwhelmed!" He took a deep breath and tried to prevent the hoard from taking them down. He had succeeded for the most part.
Corian staggered backwards, being pushed away from Day Defender by the soldiers trying to overwhelm them both. He fought hard attempting to keep them away from the Weyr. They were doing well enough, people were falling around them! But they seemed to crawl out of the lake! They had hidden in the lake!! "They're coming from the lake!" He shouted

Whether or not Xirofel was crazy was a debatable point, but he certainly had no trouble sliding right into the other boy's game. This was an adventure, and it did not matter that it was imaginary and that there were no actual brigands. Madly grinning, Xiro attacked the air some more, just as his companion was doing, and raised his voice to a level that indicated no, he did not care if people heard him. "Away, brigands! You'll not take us alive!"
Lakeeti had decided that her human was going a bit stir-crazy, and flopped on the ground, resting her head on her paws. Sighing, she twitched her tail, and then jerked back, startled, when something small and blue appeared to stare at her. Its happy flutterings around her head made the canine growl softly, and when it landed on her she rose to her feet and shook herself violently. And then, naturally, it started zipping around her head again, and Lacky snapped at it. How annoying of the creature! It did spice this up, but it was also exceedingly irritating.
Overwhelmed? Yes, they were! Xiro gave a shout of defiance, lashing out against the invisible attackers for all he was worth. Blades flashed in the sunlight; the scent of blood and death hung in the air. He wouldn't be added to the growing pile of bodies around their feet! "Keep fighting!" he roared, fighting off an opponent before being forced to fall back next to his ally. Sort of, anyway; they were being separated by the brigands and Xirofel fought to get back to his fellow defender.
Wait, from the lake? The trader glanced back, and then decided that he couldn't fight a battle on two fronts. Cutting his losses, he retreated through the battle until he was standing back-to-back with his ally, holding off the lakeside enemies. Slashing at them, he released another battle cry, but there were too many, and they were pressing in on himself and his fellow defender. So much for not being taken alive, if they were in the mood for prisoners!
"Back, fiends!" Another slash, jab, twist to parry an incoming blade. But they were pressing in closer, and he and his ally were surrounded on all sides now! Shards, this was not going to end well no matter what the outcome!

There was no way to hold them back! All their training could be for naught against foes such as these. An attack from all fronts could only be defended for so long even if he hadn't told Cirrus to run. Corian could not allow them to get to the eggs though! They had to protect the Weyr at all costs! He felt Day Defender retreat towards him. At least their backs were covered... There was only so much they could do here! He gritted his teeth but then saw something that made his blood run cold.
How could they have come from the lake without it!? He was so foolish! He had led Day Defender into a sure slaughter. He had been so stupid. His eyes widened a little and he was knocked to the ground. Corian stared up at the nemesis of all good people. The one who could destroy their whole way of life. Corian couldn't move for fear of being skewered. His eyes narrowed. "Skull Abandoner." He breathed dramatically.
He was pulled to his feet by a blue hue. In reality it was the Blue Flitt who had scampered away from the canine to take some interest in what was happening with His. The Flitt hovered about and looked between the two boys trying to decide which of them was more interesting to him. He flew at the two of them and then landed on Corian's shoulder before taking off again.
The Skull Abandoner had struck! Corian was frozen in place. The magic then went to land on Day Defender. The Skull Abandoner surveyed them with interest no doubt trying to decide whether they were of any use to his nefarious means. All fighting had stopped and a circle surrounded the two defenders of the Weyr. The Skull Abondoner laughed at them and seemed to melt from their vision for a moment. But Corian could move nowhere!
