Jaghatai was incredibly tired of his new pet. For the first week Boss had done nothing but eat and sleep and that had been fine with him, though he had absolutely no sense for adequate times and places; waking him up in the middle of the night or overwhelming him with hunger while he was doing his chores. Since he had grown out of that stage it had only gotten worse. If he didn't feed him when he demanded it, go to the places that he wanted to see (why couldn't he fly by himself anyway?!) or paid not enough attention to the oiling of his skin he'd disappear for days or bite his hand and not let go until he gave in. He was also incredibly obnoxious towards the other fire lizards, if they didn't obey him he'd scare them until they fled or had Jaghatai shoo them away. It was truly hard to please this creature.
He asked around for tips from other owner's, even approached one of the wingriders to have his dragon talk with Boss, but his efforts had been fruitless. The dragon had only snorted and his rider had explained to him that he refused to talk any further to a brat like that. Since he was convinced he was treating him right, there was only one possible explanation for his behaviour left - he was broken. Sick or something. Maybe some internal injury, maybe his head was not on right. Maybe he hadn't Impressed at all and just hung around for food. Whatever it was, he had to get him checked. That was the reason why Jaghatai had come down the caverns to the infirmary, looking around for a healer. "'lo? Anyone here? I have a fire lizard here, I think he's sick.", he called out when he couldn't spot anyone at first glance. Boss' dark slender body was curled up around his neck, eyes half-closed, but he still took in his surroundings. Something was wrong, he knew it from the tension oozing from the giant, but he did not worry. He was responding very well to his commands, so whatever he was up to, if Boss didn't like it, he'd have him stop. Simple as that.

Tedaon lay on his bed just drifting off to sleep when something decided to fling itself at his face. He rolled over tofeel of something licking his face and fell from the bed onto the floor as he recoiled from whatever it was that had attacked. He stared at the bed for a long moment, squinting until he spotted Neras, curled up and poking his tongue out every time he took a breath apparently having just arrived. He always tried his best to tell the creature to find a space for himself but, even then, the presence of something watching him while he slept was comforting. He got off the floor, stretching and cracking his back as he decided to take a look at the patients. He was due to start soon anyway... And sleep was for the weak. He was not weak. He did decide to pay Neras back in kind though. Tedaon looked at the little lump curled up and then sat down heavily on the bed causing Neras to jump up and then take flight in shock. He Flitted about and then chattered angrily at Tedaon.
Tedaon, however, got to his feet with a wave of reassuring emotions sent to the Flitt and walked out into the Infirmary. What met his gaze was not quite expected. A boy stood before him with a Bronze Firelizard wrapped around his neck. Tedaon hurried forward looking at the poor thing. It must have eaten something particularly bad to be sitting there as though dead... Neras had, by now, calmed down and became extremely excited about the Flitt. He wanted to be a friend! To help! So he betweened and, a moment later, returned carrying some food. Unfortunately, it was not food that any King would eat... The scraps from the table that had already begun rotting. The smell was awful and Tedaon looked up in alarm.
"Neras! Crazy Flitt, what are you doing!?" He exclaimed in exasperation. Neras proceeded to hover in front of the bronze, meat clasped in his claws. Tedaon swatted the Black away but couldn't help loving the creature, sending reassuring emotions to him. "What's happened?" He asked, still trying to impress upon Neras the need to be rid of the meat. [/blockquote]

Boss opened his eyes fully when the stench of rotten meat assaulted his nostrils, showing a faint but growing orange. What a foolish thing, not brains enough to decide food from waste. He'd have to teach it. That was part of the deal he had to make when he wanted the other flitters to listen to his orders correctly. Slowly he drew himself up, making a soft chirrup to announce that he was speaking. He fixed his gaze on the Black and projected all his (self-proclaimed) authority into him, sending him pictures of good food and where to find it so he could undo his blatant faux-pas.
Jaghatai sighed deeply. "To shards with me if I know. He's always like... this!", he gestured towards the Bronze that had locked the healer's flitter in an intensive stare, "He barely makes any noise and he always seems kinda angry or something. He disappears for days and sometimes I don't even know why! He just... doesn't behave like a flitter, y'know? I thought maybe he was ill and that's why he's so weird. I always thought flitters were more happy and... dunno, like yours." He cast an envious look to the Black that had brought the 'food' for Boss so proudly and then grabbed his flitter and plucked him from his shoulder; he sent an immediate spike of scorn to his owner, but Jaghatai was too determined to care. He held him up in front of the healer, while the outraged Bronze both tried to mantain dignity and dig his claws so deep into his hands that he'd be forced to let him go. "What do you think?"

Tedaon watched in wonder as the Bronze lifted his head and began staring at Neras. Neras cocked his head to one side and then flew around in a circle, chattering away in an almost concerned fashion as though fretting over the fact that the younger Flitt was not accepting his assistance. Neras, afterall, didn't see a problem with the food himself so why should the Bronze have a problem? The Bronzeleaderboss sent him an image of some food and Neras shook his head. Nope. That was bad. Clearly. Nope. That food was not for him. He chattered again and then sent a message back to the Bronzeleaderboss of the people in the kitchen who swatted at Firelizards. Nope. He did not want to be hit with a wooden thing. Not again.
Tedaon looked at the display between the two little creatures with a perplexed expression. Neras' steadfastness surprised him greatly. He supposed it had something to do with his age. Neras, as far as Flitts were concerned, had seen everything. He'd had a Dragon Friend and lived for fifteen years every turn, as a new King or Queen Flitt hatched, expected to accept them as his ruler. He looked back at the boy who seemed so concerned and smiled kindly. He looked at the Bronze and examined the creature. It was most certainly a bad case of it... "Looks like he's got a bad case of Bronzitis..." He stated calmly.
Flitts like that needed to meet a Queen to be put in their place. He would still have the annoying attitude but it was important for it to realise it was most certainly not the Boss of the Weyr. Even better was if they met a Bronze Dragon... Sometimes it worked to intimidate them and other times it just served to make them more arrogant. There was almost no telling what might happen. There was no 'cure' to any bad personality traits. He looked at Neras who had begun to nibble at the meat in his claws. He sent the Flitt an image of the food in a bin not wanting a sick Lizard lying on him later.
"There's no real cure for it... Only things that you could possibly work on with him..." Tedaon continued. Truth be told, he found the whole thing quite hilarious but didn't show it. He could tell the boy was genuinely concerned for the creature no matter how frustrated he actually was with it.

Boss became more and more irritated by Neras' attitude, but before he could start a real fight the giant's hand grabbed him and presented him to the other like a slice of meat. What was going on?! Where did that sudden outbreak of impertinence come from? He couldn't feel any of the fear the giant always treated him with and the Black outright refused him. There had to be a cause and the only connection he saw was the crippled giant in front of him that stared at him. Inspected him, without his permission! Something was going wrong here and he was not going to let it continue to happen.
"Bronzitis?" Jaghatai looked alarmed until a few seconds later it dawned him what the healer was talking about. Still enough time for Boss to spot the weak spots in his hands, sink his teeth in one and dart into the air to disappear into freedom. Cursing loudly because of the unexpected pain Jaghatai could only watch Boss slip through his fingers and vanish into thin air. Again. It would be days before that dreaded animal would appear again, if he'd come back at all. Groaning Jaghatai rubbed his temple with one hand and sucked the blood his flitter had spilled from the other. "You mean he's supposed to be like that.", he concluded wearily and sighed deeply. "Ugh... if there's any way I can teach him to be like yours... please tell me. I really want to like him, y'know? He just makes it so damn hard."

Neras yelped a little when the Bronze popped between and Flitted about the space with confused feelings flowing through their bond, chattering away in a confused manner. Apparently he wasn't certain why Bronzeleaderboss wasn't with them anymore. He flew around in a circle and then landed back on Tedaon's shoulder and chirped one thing as though to say, 'gone.'
Tedaon nodded, feeling a little sorry for the boy before him. It was tough when there was some emotional connection to something but no way to actually truly feel something for them. He'd never had the issue himself but he could only imagine how the boy was feeling. The weak emotional link between the two made him want to love the Flitt but the manner in which it was acting...
"Look... There's really not too much you can do for him. I mean, I'd suggest trying to find a queen to put him in his place but sometimes they can be just as bad. Perhaps a dragon, King or Queen might be able to put him in his place but," He shrugged, "I mean, unfortunately it's his personality. With a Queen telling him she's not interested he may try to change himself a little but not much."
Nothing could ever take the Bronze out of a Bronze but it could be lessened if even slightly. Perhaps the bond had not been as strong as it could be but that wasn't likely. Most candidates had a general idea of how to properly impress a Flitt.

Jaghatai fell silent for a while, then he shrugged as well, extending his hand to pet the black fire lizard a little. "Should've traded that sharding egg when I had the chance to. One that big, could've guessed it would be something like this!", he grumbled but didn't really seem to mean it. "Thanks anyway, I guess I'm kinda glad to know he's healthy. A bloody nuisance still, but as long as he's not sick and there is some kind of bond between us... whatever. I'll try to find a Queen for him. Maybe he'll get softer when he finds someone as stubborn as him." He didn't openly show it but actually did feel a little lighter knowing Boss was alright. It was a pity there was nothing that could be done to fix... errrr, change him... but he'd get used to it, right? Wasn't like he had a choice if he wanted to keep him. And he did like him in those rare moments in which Boss did nothing but be quiet and look pretty. "Anyway, sorry to have wasted your time, I'll just leave now." He grinned slightly. "If I find a way to teach him I'll let you know."

Tedaon smiled at the young male. He seemed to keen on trying to get the Flitt to act like a friend and a pet. Tedaon knew people who would kill for a Bronze... Then again, if they had this one he supposed they might think twice. Tedaon had never wanted to impress a King anything. Thank goodness he hadn't. "He'll be right... Eventually. Like I said, the Queens can sometimes shock them into behaving. I think there was a Copper amongst the candidates if I recall correctly." He said, trying to boost the teen's spirits.
So the boy had been worried about the bond being incorrect. Fair enough really, considering the Bronze seemed to be less than willing to accept advice or anything really. Neras pretty much did what he was told. He was an old Flitt though and well accustomed to being told what to do. Tedaon figured that if he'd impressed a Bronze Flitt like this he would have put his fist through a wall long ago.
"Don't worry, you've not wasted my time. You're a candidate, right? Well, when you impress perhaps the Dragon will set him straight." Tedaon grinned. Good to give them some hope. Given how large the clutches usually were... There was some hope indeed.
