ARRRRRRRR!! She had done it! Found some much better blue loot than that silly brother of hers. Yes! This loot was much larger and much bigger and she had found it just lying there, waiting to be claimed. It was a treasure and it was all hers. Her other treasure kept mutinying and then coming back to her. Hearty was certainly finding it difficult to keep her crew under control. Not to mention her siblings didn’t listen to her enough. It was rude was what it was! How dare they defy her? The captain! She was their leader and captain so no matter whether she told them to crawl along the banks or swim in the water they would have to do it!
Crkcrkcrkarrr Chattering happily she worked hard to push the big creature where she wanted him. She had so many treasures hidden away and this little winged creature would add to her collection. He seemed larger around the middle than most of his kind but she wanted this treasure so she would make it work! She only had a few things in her stash so she needed more! Much more!!
The firelizard had been lying by himself in the middle of a corridor and she had been pushing him down the banks to the water since earlier that day and was only now nearing her pile of rocks. Within contained her loot and treasures. Unfortunately, her attempts to push her other treasure here did not work, for Hearty was not yet fully grown. One day perhaps, when she was much larger…
With an almighty head-butt she managed to push the round creature down a small hill and watched as he rolled to the bottom, moving her feelers excitedly and clicking as she watched him for a moment and then made her way down to join him at the bottom of the mound. Yes! She was nearly there! Another piece of loot to add to her collection and it would be a marvelous collection indeed.
Hrrhrrrhrrarrcrk And she started rolling her loot along once more, shadow moving in the moonlight.

This wasn't fair!
He'd been lying there in the hallway, minding his own business, not even getting in the way because hardly anybody used this corridor, and out of the blue this silly bug creature had appeared and started pushing him! Pushing him! Oh, the nerve! Ever since the rude thing had appeared and begun rolling him down the hallway, Chubblet had been squealing and scolding non-stop, trying to get her to quit. That was mean! She shouldn't push people she didn't even know! Honestly!
Had he been more ambitious or even slightly smarter, Chubblet might have thought to just get up and fly off, but being both fat and extremely lazy, he had allowed himself to be pushed and rolled all over the place. Big flitters in the sky, he didn't even know where they were going! He was being flitternapped! Complaining loudly, the blue made a token effort to get away (he twitched his tail), and then shrieked as he was pushed down a hill. As soon as he landed at the bottom, he glared at the pillie and chattered at her in irritation. Didn't she know that it was totally undignified to be pushed around by a bug? The fact that he could easily have prevented the pushing did not occur to Chubblet.
No! No, she should stop that! Squawking indignantly, Chubblet let himself be rolled along the ground, raising his voice to an angry shriek. She was a bad bug! A very bad bug! Jeez! He wanted His! She would rescue him! She was a good person, not like this flitternapper! And she fed him! He was hungry. Hopefully His would find him soon. Her and that black dragon she rode around all the time. Apparently she hadn't yet figured out that he was better than any silly dragon.
Shiragath! Shiragath, have you seen Chubblet? Alatira was in a panic. She'd left her flit in the middle of a deserted hallway, partly as a joke and partly because he had wanted down right at the moment, and he hadn't been there when she got back. That had been nearly a candlemark ago, and she'd been searching ever since.
He is okay, but annoyed. I do not know where. Shiragath didn't sound too concerned, despite his bonded's obvious panic. He knew that the blue flit could get himself out of trouble if he had to... the little beast was just too lazy. Honestly, Chubblet was a bit of a stain on the reputation of all firelizards. Alatira adored him, though, despite his obviously manipulative ways. Shiragath had tried to enlighten her multiple times on the fact that she was just spoiling the blue, but she either wouldn't listen or didn't care. At least he had the satisfaction of being her dragon, which meant that she automatically loved him more than anyone else.
Not convinced that her missing pet was in fact all right, Alatira scrambled down the corridors of the lower caverns, holding a glow aloft and searching for her firelizard. It didn't take long before she slammed into someone coming the opposite way, and the blackrider staggered back a couple of steps. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to run into you, but I'm looking for my firelizard -- he's missing. He's really bright blue, and really fat. Have you seen him, by any chance?"

This was brilliant! Her treasure even made noises when she moved it! This was one of the best treasures she had found yet! Her big human loot was great but she certainly didn’t make noises when she moved her. Arkarkarkark clkclkclk ark arr hrr!! She chattered cheerfully as she finally reached her cave and looked about at the treasures now contained within. Blue loot, silver pronged loot and some silver round treasure. It was all hers! She clicked at the blue loot and pushed it so it was next to the silver pronged treasure. It was a small cave but big enough, at least, to fit a pillie bug and a flitt. One day it would be filled right to the top! Overflowing with loot.
Lightly, she headbutted the blue loot with excitement wanting to listen to him make his strange noises again for it was simply so much fun! She was captain Hearty and absolutely awesome in every way! All of her crew would bow before her when she showed them her treasure! Of course, she would never show them this treasure for this was hers, all hers! Crkcrkcrk arr hrr hrr crkk.
Yalenia was moving through the Lower Caverns at something of a run having felt some very strange emotions from Hearty which she knew could have meant nothing but trouble. Of course, the emotions were duller than she imagined it would feel to be bonded to a Wher but it was enough to cause concern. She had quickly finished the chores she needed to and then tore off to search for her pillie.
As she rounded a corner she charged into someone and stepped backwards rubbing her head. Looking at the female before her and listening to the words she shook her head ever so slightly. “It’s no worries.”
She would have said no about having seen the Rider’s firelizard but suddenly she wasn’t so sure about it. Considering the colour of the firelizard it was rather likely that Hearty may just have found her blue loot again. Unfortunately, Yalenia didn’t quite know where her pillie hid all her treasures. “Hmm… I may know what happened to him…”

Chubblet was not pleased with the way things were going. He did not like being pushed! He did not want to continue being pushed! But the stupid little bugthing kept shoving him, rolling him along with no regard for his opinions on the matter. Selfish! Selfish and horrible, she was, and he didn't like her! But at last she stopped pushing him, and he recognized some of the funny things his person used to eat with. Why did the bug have things his human used to eat with? Had she stolen them? She was a thief! A thief as well as a mean horrible terrible bug!
Quit poking him! Chubblet squealed indignantly and glared at the bugthing as well as he could with his head tipped away. It was just too much work to move it to where he could really see her. All the same, he chattered angrily at the stupid creature, shrilling at the top of his lungs. This was very undignified and very graceless and there was dirt in here! Dirt, of all things! His beautiful blue hide was getting all dirty and there was nothing he could even do about it because she was stupid and he didn't like her!
Alatira was itching to get moving again and find her firelizard, but she took pause at the look on the other woman's face. Eyes glinting with suspicious curiosity, she kept herself from dashing off again in search of Chubblet, and put her hands on her hips, eyeing the other female thoughtfully. She didn't look like a flit-napper. "What do you mean? You didn't kidnap him, did you?" It was unfortunate that her bond with her firelizard wasn't strong enough to read his emotions from this far away. All Alatira knew was that he was alive, and not pleased -- but not where he was. Most of that information came through Shiragath, anyway. It was probably kind of sad that her dragon was more connected to the blue than she was, but he really wasn't very emotionally attached. Just fat. And very dependent.
And that was exactly why she needed to find him!

ARRRRRRR HRRRRR HRRRRRRR!!!! Hearty had done it! She had gotten the strange lizard thing to talk to her and it was so awesome! She busied herself with straightening things out in her treasure trove, scuttling about. Maybe this treasure could even sing to her! She could sing! Perhaps they could sing pirate songs together! Eeey hrrr eeey hrrr ar hrrrr a lfff fr mmm!!!
Clicking her feelers and moving her little legs she did something of a pirate dance, prodding the lizard to move along with her singing! For she was a mighty pirate and her crew must dance with her! All of them must sing and dance! If he did not then she would be most disappointed. Perhaps she should find some more loot. There were a couple of green things out and about she could take… Some of them just lay in the sun. Although it wasn’t bright anymore she could possibly find some of them later…
DANCE LIZARD DANCE!!!
Yalenia shook her head at the accusation although she understood it wasn’t entirely unfounded. If her suspicions were correct, and she was fairly certain they were, then her pillie had found some more loot and taken it somewhere to hide away. Yalenia had already spotted the pillie bug stealing a fork after dinner. Unfortunately, it was tough to take it off Hearty without causing a scene. The bug seemed to take it as a personal insult or something.
“Well, no of course not but, you see, I have a pillie and she likes taking things…”
It sounded so stupid now she was saying it out loud but, well, it was the only possible explanation she could come up with. If she was wrong, she was wrong and they would just have to look for the firelizard somewhere else. “She’ll be down by the lake if anywhere I suspect… Can’t hurt to look anyway.”

Sorting loot was okay. Anything was okay as long as the stupid bugthing stopped pestering him. He didn't really mind her chittering, since it seemed to be directed mainly at the items in her cave and not so much at him, but when the bug poked him again, Chubblet took offense. Squealing and moved to utter offense, he lifted his head enough to turn it and glare at her. No, he did not want to sing, and she looked stupid dancing about like that! Hissing, the blue glared at her and then twitched the tips of his tail.
Her song was kind of catchy... but in a bad way! He didn't like it! It was a terrible song and he was tired of hearing it so she should stop singing it because it was offending him and all he wanted to do was sleep! Well, sleep or be rescued by His. Chubblet really wasn't picky, he just wanted to be left alone! Honestly! Squealing again, the firelizard glared at the pillie. He did not want to dance and he was not going to dance! Or sing! So there!
Well, this person didn't seem too terribly likely to have kidnapped her firelizard, so Alatira relaxed a little bit. The news, though, drew a slightly narrowed glance from the blackrider. A pillie, taking things? It wasn't the most logical idea she'd ever heard... but then, it wasn't the most impossible either. What was the worst that could happen? They wouldn't find Chubblet, and she'd have to keep looking and hope her poor dear blue was all right.
"Well, we can try that," the wingrider agreed dubiously, and then grabbed the other woman's arm and steered her outside towards the Bowl, determined to find her flit. "Chubblet was just lying in the hall, so if your pillie found him she could have taken him. He really wouldn't resist, but he'd be mad. He is mad, Shiragath tells me." Not that the flit's opinion was really relevant since he didn't actually like anything but Alatira, himself, and belly rubs, but still!

Mutiny? MUTINY!? Was this foul creature disinclined to acquiesce to her request!? No! Bad firelizard! She would make him walk the plank if he did not make an effort to join in her dancing. Bad lizard! She clicked at him angrily and headbutted him harder to make him squawk again. It would take far too long to push the lizard all the way back to walk into the water. She would have to wait until tomorrow. For the moment, however, she clicked at the lizard once more and then took her other treasure to bar the cave. Her loot would never escape now! Not with her standing guard.
So, with that, Amber pillie Hearty moved to the front of her little treasure trove to stand guard, still clicking and ‘arring’ every now and again. Until she could muster the energy the mutinous traitor would have to remain here. She turned back to peer at the lizard once more and then tried to give him a second chance, singing her pirate song once again.
Yalenia was pleased when the female didn’t seem all that upset any more and relaxed, leading the way out towards the bowl and the Weyr’s lake. How could she had impressed a pillie who stole firelizards!? Hearty was more of a handful than she could ever imagine a wher being! Well, it was tougher to keep an eye on the pets than it was a larger life mate…
Plus, she didn’t even know whether Hearty had stolen the firelizard but had a sneaking suspicion the pillie probably had something to do with the blue’s disappearance. Even if she didn’t, Yalenia realised she probably needed to find the Amber anyway.
“Well, it’s a start I suppose. She’d be near the water and even if she doesn’t have him at least we’ll have eliminated one place…”

This was harassment! Chubblet squealed in displeasure as the annoying brownbug shoved him again, and twitched the end of his tail irritably against the floor. Oh, she was so annoying! Why didn't she leave him be, so that he could just lie down again and not be tormented by creatures who didn't understand the glory of doing nothing at all? It was positively shameful, the way she carried on expecting him to do things when he didn't even know what he was supposed to be doing! And her song was stupid!
But it was oddly catchy. The flit listened for a few moments as the pillie chittered her little song, and then snorted, raising his voice to an obnoxious trill. If he was going to be made to sing, he was going to make it so horribly unpleasant that she'd never demand it of him again and would leave him in peace. Yes, that was what he would do! He would sing -- and he did, and he had to admit that it was kind of fun. Eating was fun, too, so this was a bit like eating... and eating was wonderful! Now he was really getting into it, trilling the pillie's song with all the enthusiasm in the world as if he hadn't just been hating it two minutes before.
Well, doing something to find her (admittedly useless) firelizard was good, and just getting out of the caverns into the Bowl did Alatira good. She breathed a sigh of relief, and then paused in her step just momentarily, listening to Shiragath. Once he had finished speaking (which didn't take long, as he rarely said much), the blackrider raised a brow and trotted after the other woman once more. "My dragon says that Chubblet is happier now. At least he's not drowning in the lake, then. I almost hope your pillie does have him. It's hard to find a flit that doesn't move." He literally did not move. Ever. Alatira rather wondered what would happen if she ever just left him in one place and didn't feed him. Would he get up and go in search of nourishment, or would he just scold until he died of starvation? It was an excellent question.
It was also not what she was supposed to be thinking about right now! However, Alatira found to her surprise that she was soon able to hear the firelizard's thoughts and feelings, more or less. At the very least, they were noticeable now instead of being unreadable blips of consciousness somewhere on her radar. Encouraged, she began to look around with searching eyes, hunting for her firelizard. "I can hear him now. Can you feel your pillie?" Did pillies even have consciousnesses like firelizards and dragons did? She'd never met or, for that matter, even seen one before.

ARRRHRRHRRHRRHRR!!! Another cry of pirate triumph escaped the pillie as she watched the lizard creature. Yes! That was the perfect way of singing. Perhaps she could allow him onto her crew as one of their entertainers. This was perfect! She moved her feelers in some sort of triumphant, excited manner as he continued singing her song. She would have to teach it the next part! This lizard could sing the high parts whilst she the lower ones. Then they would truly be a crew for they would have a song to sing whilst pillaging the Weyr. Eee prrr a prrr, Eee rrr a lrr, DRR URR MMM HERRR EEEY HRR!
This was absolutely the best song there ever was. Clicking the beat she danced her little dance to the song hoping the lizard would start moving eventually. Well, if he didn’t she would toss him in the lake. THEN HE WOULD HAVE TO MOVE! Laughing in her pirate way Hearty kept singing her song very much liking the way the lizard trilled.
Yalenia was pleased to know that Chubblet was at least a little happier. It meant that Hearty hadn’t yet tossed him in the lake or any other similar action. It also meant that she might have left him behind somewhere but the faint emotions she could feel from the pillie told her otherwise. “Yes…”
Privately, Yalenia wondered whether they would even be able to get the blue away from Hearty. The amber seemed much more like a bandit than any other creature she had known and was probably not all that likely to relinquish any one of her trinkets if she thought it belonged to her. “I can feel something… She seems extremely pleased about something. I’m not entirely sure what it is though. Having a blue treasure might be enough though…”
Wait! What was this? Hearty stopped singing her song and chittered angrily. Her twolegger was trying to bring people to her treasure cave! No! Bad twolegger! Hearty huffed and clicked slowly moving her way from the cave and out into the open. She would have to lead them astray somehow. Her silly human didn’t know anything and she had been having such a lovely time singing! She would just have to return later and sing again!

His plan wasn't working, but that didn't matter because Chubblet had already forgotten his plan and was trilling along with the pillie in most enjoyable fashion. Firelizard glee rang out above the lower notes of Hearty's chittering, accenting her voice in the most splendid of ways. Normally the blue did not sing, but this was a special occasion and he'd been kidnapped and she was harassing him and threatening him if he didn't! Besides, it was kind of fun... even if her song was obnoxious. Chubblet maintained that the song was stupid, but he didn't say so because he was afraid the annoying hardbug might bite him if he mentioned it, and it was rather catchy anyway.
No matter how catchy the tune was, however, Chubblet had no intention of dancing. Too much activity was bad for a flit, and dancing was entirely too much activity. He was holding his head up off the ground, so surely that was enough. Besides, the fat flit was trilling his little heart out, and it had better keep the silly pillie happy because if it didn't, he was not going to be pleased and Pern should be afraid when Chubblet was not pleased!
"Well, as long as she's not extremely pleased about eating Chubblet or something, I don't think it matters too much," Alatira reflected with a light chuckle, trotting after the other woman. Soon enough, however, she was distracted by something dark moving along the ground to one side, just as they were drawing close to the lake. Tilting her head, the blackrider watched the creature for a moment and then nudged the other's arm and indicated the slightly shining pillie. "Is that her?" She was sure there were other pillies about, and she had no real idea what this one might look like.
She did, however, know that there was an extremely angry chittering coming from somewhere nearby. Reaching out with her mind, Alatira soon located Chubblet's consciousness, and tried to soothe him. The flit screeched louder. He had been abandoned! Abandoned most terribly and left to die by the horrible pillie-creature, and they'd been singing and then she'd left and it was so cruel of her! He was going to starve here! Starve, and wither away into a little blue husk of a firelizard, all dried up and crinkled for the world to see!
"I believe I found him," the blackrider remarked dryly, and moved towards the source of the thoughts and chittering. There was a sort of dark space under one of the rocks, there, and a distinctly indignant chattering coming from said splace. Alatira raised a brow, and crouched to look. "Chubblet?"

Hearty was pleased with her treasure for he was proving most useful with his singing. When night fell they would dance in the lake. Of course, she wasn’t even sure whether loot could go in the water but she somehow figured it was possible. It was blue and the water was blue so it made sense. Still, she needed to stop the two-leggers from finding her hiding place.
Hearty scuttled her way out of the treasure trove and started moving along the bank in the hopes of leading them astray. No doubt they were trying to steal all her treasures for themselves. Two-leggers were like that. Always taking everything for themselves and leaving nothing for the poor pillie bug trying to make her way in the world. They were all so inconsiderate of her battle. She should make them all walk the plank!
Yalenia followed the gaze of the rider beside her and looked along the shoreline until she spotted the reddish hue of her pillie. Even from here she could hear the bandit’s clicking and chattering. She nodded. “Yes, that’s the little brigand, me Hearty!”
Yalenia watched as the Amber made her slow, scuttling way over to the two and then launched herself at Yalenia’s leg as though trying to get them to go somewhere else. Yalenia thought she knew the game especially when Hearty’s chattering became more intense the closer Alatira got to the rocks. Yalenia followed, at something of a distance.
As soon as Alatira reached her hand into the rocks, Hearty chattered most angrily. ARRRRRRNRRRRRRRRRRRR!NRRRRRRRRRRARRRRRRRRRRR!!! With an almighty, pirate yell of battle, Hearty flung herself at the rider’s back as Yalenia rushed forwards to stop her. “Hearty No!” She managed to grab the pillie and held on tight. “Can you see anything? I think we must be near her hiding place!”
