With all that had supposedly been happening in Dalibor Weyr Lirone wasn’t so sure about her transfer anymore. They had been travelling for two days simply because Lirone preferred not to go Between unless absolutely necessary. The pair had stopped over on one of the slightly more charted islands in the Western Ring for a rest before continuing on their way through to their new home. Lirone, being accustomed to the ocean, had been able to judge the waters well enough to find an island, which could be considered relatively safe. If nothing else came of Dalibor at least there were places such as this she could visit when in need of some isolation. Of course, with the stop off came the very simple fact that they were taking longer than necessary to make the transfer.
Agrippith could have made the journey in the blink of an eye but chose to obey Hers. Not without at least some semblance of a fight. If we arrive too late they will no doubt think us fools for flying all the way here instead of going Between. How would you like it if I turned up and was not sufficiently admired by all the new dragons? I wouldn’t mind too much. I prefer it when people don’t stare at us too much.
Sniffing indignantly at Hers’ lack of interest Agrippith edged her nose closer to her Rider, surveying her as Lirone obsessively poked holes in the sand, making them evenly spaced around her. At least I know nothing will get me while you’re here. Why then are you poking holes in the sand…?
Lirone stopped and frowned in confusion at the most recent hole not aware that she had been doing anything remotely out of the ordinary. She shrugged her shoulders and then settled herself down in the sand, still poking some holes in it every now and again.
By the time they were ready to set out again Rukbat was low in the sky having just passed midday. Lirone touched the ground, then her nose and climbed into Agrippith’s riding straps to set off again. They would reach Dalibor on the brink of night and Lirone knew they had taken far too long to get there. Well, better late than never she supposed… Not that she liked being late to anywhere but they would only be a couple of hours behind schedule. Roughly.
Wonderful Agrippith and her Rider the equally magnificent Lirone reporting as transfers from Frontier Weyr. The announcement made Lirone more anxious than she had felt previously and she just wished she could bespeak the watch dragon and apologise for Agrippith’s pride. As Agrippith banked around the Weyrbowl she made something of a show of flicking her tail about and rolling to show off.
Oh dear.
Things were already looking tougher than she thought. Lirone sighed and used her emotions to rein in Agrippith, knowing that anymore showy stunts like that and she would likely never be accepted in the Weyr. Not precisely a loud person herself, Agrippith’s stunts pulled at Lirone’s patience rather a lot. Still, even with all the grief the orange caused there were moments where she felt only bliss.
Lirone directed Agrippith to the ground and the orange obliged… After she had flown about in a circle, performing a loop. The rider sat in the straps unsure precisely as to where she should go. She had never transferred before and had no idea what she was supposed to be doing. Should she seek out the Weyrwoman? Weyrleader? Anyone? Or just make her way to a knowledgeable rider. Agrippith was far too busy holding her head high and showing off to be of any assistance so Lirone simply decided to wait a while, get Agrippith’s harness off and then seek out someone who may know what she should be doing.
She’d heard of the recent tragedy at the Weyr and now looked about with worry, aware that she had arrived at a most distressing time for the already grief-stricken Weyr. With assassinations, deaths and now a fire, Lirone knew it would be tough on all the residents of the Weyr. She only hoped that she could serve her new Weyr in these times of great need. With Threadfall just around the corner the newest Weyr needed as many Riders as possible. [/blockquote]
