Oh! Jariiiiiiith~ Irith's fabulous mindvoice rang across the bowl to his very bestest friend in the world. He launched himself from his ledge, flying circles in the clear, crisp sky free from the blizzard that had haunted the inner parts of Dalibor a sevenday before. Jarith! Guess what! Your favoritist Irith invites you to come and play! He asks you meet him in the Bowl and bring Yours so he can come play too! Okay? Okaaaaaay! With that the opalescent white spiraled down to the ground of the Weyr Bowl and landed in a snowdrift with a bit more of a crash than a plop. I am fine! I am not hurt! Irith announced to no one in particular as he stuck his head out of the snow drift, nearly indistinguishable from the piles and piles of snow except for the slight color of his rainbow hide.
A'lan laughed at his partner as he strode out into the snow wearing thick wherhide boots and a thick jacket and gloves to protect from the cold. His hair, loosed from his ponytail, protected his neck and ears while his goatee kept at least some small part of his face warm. It was the first time they had some free time since tending to wounded of Kalith's and Waroth's bloody hatching, and Irith was certainly excited to do something other than pass along messages or wait outside the Infirmary. The white dragon felt it had been such a very long time since he had seen his very best friend, and so A'lan had encouraged him to set up a playdate. He wanted to check on E'rin too, after all. Being effectively brothers due to the nature of their dragons, A'lan felt a fondness for the boy and liked to make himself available in case the much younger lad had any questions about life or dragons or healing or anything in general.
"I know you're all right, my boy... but perhaps you should make more careful landings?" A'lan chided with amusement.
But it's SNOW, A'lanMine! SNOW breaks my fall, and therefore I am fiiiiine. Irith then snuggled himself down into the snow drift until only his long, iridescent tail was visible. I'm going to see if I can surprise BestFriendJarith! Shhhh! Irith's mindvoice had a whispered, impish quality to it that made A'lan laugh, although he said nothing more about it. He certainly wouldn't want to ruin the surprise, after all! So he shoved his hands in his jacket pockets and smiled up in the sky, looking for the blurred outline of Jarith and E'rin heading their way.

E'rin had, at that point in the day, been eating. He was always hungry, as thirteen-year-olds often are, and was a frequent sight in the dining hall regardless of the hour. It seemed the majority of what he consumed went towards fueling his rapid vertical growth; he had proudly reached the point where he looked nearly as tall as X'ni unless they were set back-to-back. Of course, the boy had yet to properly fill out, and remained akin to an awkward, long-legged beanpole. He took to toting his pillie Mitzi around on his back to "build some muscles or something." The rest of his hard-shelled herd was too big.
When Jarith's excited, squeaking mindvoice finally came to him, he had finished inhaling his plateful of sustenance. Mitzi seemed mildly perturbed by the way his back suddenly straightened out of surprise, swiping the back of his neck with her feelers. E'rinLOVEmine, oh love, love, love, E'rinlove, OHH! Guess what! And the boy replied with a typical "I don't know, what?" that made the sparkling white feel devilishly brilliant at having stumped him. It's my IRITH. My IRITH is talking to me, oh love day love, and he wants to PLAY and I am his BEST FRIEND FOREVER. See see see how I did that, see? Because he IS my best friend and he is FOREVER. E'rin, Mine, I am going to go play with Iriiiiith! And E'rin could practically feel her leaping from her high-altitude ledge, the rush of joy and adrenaline sparking across their mindlink. He deposited his dirty plate and, not quite feeling full yet, went out into the cold. Mitzi huddled up against his spine.
He check the minds of each of his pets as he left the room as one might check for their coinpurse or keyring. Mitzi was with him; check. Merps, Murmle, and Levi II were placed together in his bedroom like large, coloured rocks, undoubtedly unimpressed with the cold and snow. Levi the firelizard was situated on his regular shelf, and tossed E'rin a reluctant image of his aging dog laying with the pillies. Green Lana was - ah, well, Lana popped out of between in the frosty air above him and quickly clung to his shoulder for warmth. He could hear her little claws scrabbling against Mitzi's shell and the poor dear let out a confused and startled squeak - why weren't her feet holding on? - and finally found tactile fabric to cling to.
Satisfied and relieved that none of his darling pets had mysteriously disappeared, E'rin shoved his hands into his pockets and sought out A'lan in the distance. High in the air, a twinkling Jarith twisted and looped and chattered to herself, letting off some of her boundless energy before touching down to the ground. With her aerobatics to entertain her, E'rin actually beat her to their destination. A goofy grin broke onto his face at approaching his favourite big brother of choice, seeing his long hair let loose and warm. E'rin's was approaching a raggedy shoulder's length and served as acceptable earmuffs; he knew that if A'lan had long hair, long hair was cool.
"Hi, A'lan!" he piped up, and he had meant to say more but was interrupted. Jarith landed on four splayed legs, tail straight out and practically vibrating with excitement. She let out a shrill trumpet of pure happiness and looked wildly around, sparkling like the snow itself. E'rin continued, "How're you? And Irith?" He pried Lana off his back and cradled her like a babe, stroking her little wedge-shaped head.
Jarith was suddenly less content. I CANNOT FIND IRITH, [/i] she announced to E'rin, A'lan, and even Irith himself, sounding quite loudly perplexed. THIS IS A PROBLEM.[/i][/size][/blockquote]

A'lan smiled as he finally spotted what he believed to be the form of E'rin walking toward him. As he drew closer he noticed the boy's hair had gotten longer, and he approved the mirroring with some fondness. He was really quite flattered, as the imitation both tickled his ego and increased his adoration for his little brother. "Hello, E'rin! It's been too long!" He wrapped his arm around the boy's shoulders and pulled him into a side-hug just as the sparkling Jarith made her grand entrance. He giggled in amusement, watching her sparkling hide glisten in a way that rivaled the snow around her. Keeping an ear out for when she would discover his own dragon's trick, he turned his more direct attention to E'rin.
"Oh, busy as usual... Between Kalith's children and Waroth's there were quite a few casualties I had to take care of. They're all healing nicely, though. We have a good team in our infirmary." A'lan hummed softly, thinking of L'kie and his chosen apprentice Delilah. They had all performed admirably at the Hatching. He would not be at all surprised if Delilah really could pull off getting her Journeyman's status in a timely fashion, provided nothing unseemly happened. "Irith is as bubbly as usual." He commented, seemingly right on cue. Just as his statement was issued, Jarith seemed quite upset. A delightful grin plastered on his face, A'lan nonetheless held his tongue lest he give away the surprise. Irith, however, seemed quite ready to give himself away.
The rainbow white erupted from the snow, sending flurries every which way as he trumpeted in his light voice the surprise he had surely issued. His wings flared out as well, sending even more snow atop his BestFriendJarith and all the way to their two unsuspecting (for, surely they did not expect this!) riders. Then he crouched again and, shaking his hindquarters and wagging his tail like a dog, grinned a draconic grin at his VeryBestFriend. Surprise! I surprised you! Did I surprise you, BestFriendJarith? He pounced and hopped over the destroyed dune of snow until he fell where Jarith had been, hoping to tackle her playfully. YourBestestIrith has surprised you! Is it a nice surprise? Do you like it? Oh, Jarith, you are prettier than the snow! Did you know that? The snow is very pretty, but MyBestestFriendJarith is much prettier! Look how you sparkle!
A'lan spit snow from his mouth and shook snow from his hair, brushing off his beard and his clothes with his gloved hands. All the while he laughed amiably, fully aware of the conversation taking place between their two dragons. "Well, we'll certainly never be bored, E'rin!" He smiled over, making sure the boy could get all of the snow off before he would offer his assistance. "How've you been, my young friend? Anything new or exciting going on--other than being snowed upon?"

"Hey, that's good," said E'rin. "Do you think that hatching was a record? I bet it was. Don' think I seen that many mauled in one place!" The diminutive (well, for full-grown pillies) Mitzi had gone largely dormant on E'rin's back. She let him know with a resigned little 'Ma,' and tucked her little limbs and feelers in against her shell. It was seemingly precautionary on her part: not long after, the snowy explosion reigned down on the boy and his pets, and Mitzi was most certainly not a creature who operated well in the cold. And while E'rin laughed and grinned and was overall quite entertained if frosted, the green-striped lizard in his arms was less impressed. She neared flopped out of his grip with fright, and E'rin instinctively grabbed onto her to keep her close.
"No, never," E'rin beamed, shaking the snow from his hair like he was a human cloud.
Jarith squealed. It was a squeal of pure, glimmering delight, all concern forgotten as her beloved Irith bowled into her. Snow twinkled in the air but she twinkled decidedly brighter, eyes crystal blue and gleaming. Ohhh, I am, aren't I? she cooed, craning her neck to admire her own curious hide before nuzzling into Irith. She clung to him. Oh, oh, oh, yes, I am so PRETTY, Irith! I AM SO PRETTY and you are SO MANY COLOURS. A joyous trumpet came forth from her little open jaw. Oh, how she loved her Irith!
Such antics, of course, we fondly familiar. E'rin was always warmed by them, and he praised Faranth that he had Impressed to such a cheerful and energetic dragon. At times, she was his bane - overexcited, tail whipping about disastrously, too full of herself to listen to him - but he always loved her dearly. He was also intensely grateful for Jarith's obsession with Irith, which had brought him the best substitute older brother he could have asked for. Though it made him feel mildly guilty for admitting it, since the greenrider had been partly responsible for plucking him out of orphanhood, E'rin loved A'lan more than X'ni.
"Well, I don't know," he thought out loud, hands idly soothing the scaredy-cat Lana. "I just do the same things!" And this was a realization worth frowning at. "I guess I reorganized my weyr a little, since F'lan kept asking me to, and Jarith was super spacey during wing drills the other day and I was worried Fajra would notice and get made. I guess she didn't. At least, I mean, I hope she didn't and isn't like writing me down on some secret list... It wasn't even me! Jarith's crazy!" This was accented by a whip of the lady white's head, tongue lolling out of her mouth, mid-lick. E'rin waved her off and she went back to tackling and clinging and tackling and clinging to her Irith. "Oh! And there's--"
He paused and blushed. "Well, see, there's this girl..." [/blockquote]

Irith trilled happily, glad that Jarith was so happy with his surprise for her! She was his VeryBestestFriend, after all! He nuzzled her fondly, happy to be near her but also very happy that she was happy to be near him who was happy to be near her! Yes, it all made sense in Irith's mind! Jarith's happiness made him happy and his happiness further made him want to make Jarith happy. As she admired herself he watched her with bright blue eyes, then snuggled her closer still. He felt her cling tightly to him and couldn't help but purr happily. You ARE pretty! And I AM colorful! We are the most fabulous, we are! But mostly you, BestFriendJarith! You are the most fabulous! How sparkly you are!
After a couple more seconds of cuddling he rolled off and shook himself of the leftover snow that clung to his hide. He beamed at her, trumpeting gleefully. I have a plan, you know! Your brilliant Irith has a plan for his most wonderful Jarith, yes! THIS IS MY PLAN: We shall build a snow dragon! It can look like you! And then we shall admire it together! His tail wagged happily behind him as he relayed his plan to her.
"Oh, I'm sure you'll be fine. Weyrwoman Fajra may be a bit prickly but I highly doubt she's the kind of woman to keep her disapproval to herself in the form of a secret list." A'lan squeezed the other whiterider's arm encouragingly. When E'rin began in a beaming voice, but stopped suddenly, the healer leaned in with a knowing smile on his face. "A girl, you say?" A'lan did not laugh at his little brother, but he could not totally contain his amusement and a little of it leaked into his tone. His thoughts lingered for a second to G'len, the bronzerider that graduated from their class. He had been Gallen when they had met, but A'lan still could not deny his attraction to the very intelligent young man. But this wasn't about him... E'rin was the one who needed to talk and A'lan was more than happy to listen. "You want to tell me about this young lady?"
Meanwhile, Irith had begun rooting around in the snowdrift he had previously disassembled. He was pushing it all up into a large mound, occasionally giving trills of excitement. Oh, Jarith! What do you think? Isn't this fun? I think this is fun, JarithOfMyHeart, for then there shall be two of you! It shall not be as sparkly, nor as pretty, but if you don't like it we can dump it on A'lanMine and E'rinYours! Yes?

"Right," E'rin frowned. "It would be, like, a super-obvious list posted all over." He imagined what sort of names would be found on that list in big, angry red letters. Maybe his dads, since they were renegades and all, and then him. Well, at least it would be a family tradition.
Jarith broke into the conversation with a piercing squeal, her eyes swirling a startlingly happy turquoise. OOOHHHHH, I AM SO FABULOUS! You're right, you're right, you're right! [/i] The white seemed to sparkle even harder as she twisted and twined around Irith. If there was anyone who could stroke her massive ego so well, it was him. Oh, Irith, I love love love you, IrithLove! You have such good ideas! A snow Jarith! I've never seen a snow Jarith! It will be so fancy fancy![/i] She spotted him pushing snow about, and made to copy him. But LoveIrithLove, how do you make a snow dragon? How how HOW? This is fun, but HOW?[/i] She drove her pile of snow on past him and swiped a lick of his cheek. Tell meeeeeee~[/i] "Well, um, I guess she's real pretty," E'rin said, stroking Lana obsessively as he struggled to think of what exactly to say. "At least, I think she is, and her name's Miloa... And I dunno, I see her around in the infirmary sometimes, you know, when Jarith gets a scrape or somethin'. I think she's an apprentice?" His wide blue eyes flicked over to A'lan expectantly. "That's neat, right? That means she's probably smart? Dragonhealers have to be smart. And she's cute and nice, too, and I just... I see her every now and then, and I think about her and stuff, but I..." And he looked fiercely away. "I haven't really talked to her. I'm just that weird kid with the sparkly girl dragon."He loved that sparkly girl dragon, but he was a very young man and he worried about many a thing. He knew quite well what people could gather about a person from such a feminine and flamboyant dragon - X'ni told him about it all the time, which made him quite mad. If only there were more people like A'lan around, who loved him and Jarith and didn't judge. He thought, briefly, that maybe no one was judging him, but it felt like they were, and that was the problem. Ohh, I like that! 'JarithOfMyHeart'! You are such a GENTLE GENTLEMAN, Irith! My favouritest gentleman! The best in the whole wide Pern! Yes, yes, yes, we could dump it on Mine and Yours! Then they would be snowdragons, too! Eeeee![/i][/size][/blockquote]
