It was night.
Mayalene sat on the ledge next to a curled up Seleneth, her legs dangling over the edge and the open Weyr before her.
It was night, and the silence was more pleasing than anything the rider could have asked for....except, Seleneth rarely enjoyed silence. Would you like to hear my new favorite word Mine? Oh, I'm sure you'll enjoy this very, very much. It's quite superb, just absolutely marvelous, I'm entirely certain it will simply tickle you pink! Mayalene sighed, her head craning up slightly to look at her dragoness. "What is it....Seleneth?"
Her voice dropped to an even softer tone than normal, a question hanging on her last word as she took in the cyan. Perching now where only moments before she had been curled up, Seleneth was staring intently at the light of the stars amongst the vast darkness, her eyes swirling with a color that was most definitely a shade of violet and blue. Flight. That's my new favorite word, especially when paired with Chase. Tag is another thing you could call it, but that's such a short word that it's almost useless. No, it doesn't really encompass what it should, don't you think? I certainly do...yes...flight.
How had Mayalene not noticed this before? She got to her feet on shaky legs, clinging to the wall of her dragon's cave as Seleneth spread her wings and then without another moment's notice, let herself fall toward the ground only to level out over the pens and grab a herdbeast. The cyan tumbled wing over tail to the earth, her claws gripping her prize firmly and a soft hiss escaping her jaws at the nagging thought that Hers sent. However, there was sense in the command she supposed, and she wasn't all that interested in the silly thing she had killed, so obeying the dragoness only blooded the kill before leaving it and flicking the dirt and blood off of her wings.
Follow me, chase me...pursue me! Oh, sing me sweet words and tempt me to be yours!
Her voice rose to the minds of the still wakeful males in Dalibor as she spread her wings and shot into the air, climbing quickly before leveling out and heading for the ocean where the starlight glittered on the cresting waves.

He'd never chased a cyan before.
That was the main thought in Weslieth's head as he sleepily raised it, hearing Seleneth's call as she winged into the sky. Whatever hormonal urges drove him to chase certain females and ignore others were quite incomprehensible to him, but in this case, some twitch of instinct let him understand, at least a little. She was a cyan, beautiful and new; she wanted to be tempted, but to him, she was the temptress. The moonlight played on her dusky hide, and Weslieth wanted her.
"It's late," Jazz groaned, but with good humor, and climbed onto his back when she felt lust curl into her belly. A quick flight took them to Seleneth's ledge, and Jazz dropped to the ground, wearing only a simple shift for sleeping. Not at all awkward about being dragged from the precipice of sleep for this, she stretched, her body coming alive as every nerve reacted to the beginnings of flight. "Nice to meet you," she told Mayalene.
It was a lovely night, but Weslieth only had eyes for the distant form of the cyan he desired. His wings beat rapidly, and he strained after her. Seleneth, I am Weslieth,[/i] he crooned to her. You're as magical and wondrous as the night itself. You look like twilight.[/i] The words themselves might not be much, but that was where telepathy came in handy; what he lacked in quotability, he made up for by showing her what he meant by it, how gentle and safe the night made one feel, and how warm.

It was late. It was late, but Jaci was wide awake. She had been lying on her bed staring up at the ceiling of her room, the faithful Radish snuggling at her side. Her pale hand scratched at the dozing yellow lab's head as she gave a soft sigh. She didn't care to sleep that night. She didn't care to sleep at all. Jaci wanted an adventure! She wanted to creep out into the night, barefoot and free, and spirit away some beautiful stranger to the ocean or to the top of a mountain. It didn't really matter what. The bluerider just wanted to do something. Anything was better than lying on her bed wondering.
Her mind had done a lot of wondering. Her friend Tieler had crossed her mind several times since their day trip to the Ring Islands. Thinking of the blackrider gave her warm, fuzzy feelings that tingled her toes and the tips of her fingers. It was comfortable and yet crazy. She liked it. Although, she tried not to dwell on it enough to regret it. They had fun together. Jaci liked that they had fun together. It made her happy.
Rowenth was thinking, too. He had been thinking about the stars and the weather. He had been thinking about the Threadfall patterns and the drills they had been running earlier that day. The blue thought of a great many things, but one beautiful lady was enough to strike his mind clean and blank. He watched the dusky cyan glide down from her ledge to descend upon the herdbeast pen. He watched and he grew curious. Perhaps it was his rider's adventurous mood. Perhaps it was his rider's fuzzy feelings about her friend. Perhaps it was simply the way Seleneth's cyan hide seemed to glow in the darkness of twilight. Either way, Rowenth felt his own warm and fuzzy feeling that tingled everywhere from his nose to the tips of his forked tail.
Cyans were certainly beautiful creatures. And Seleneth seemed to be the most beautiful of all in this moment.
Cyan Seleneth Rises. I mean to chase her, MineOwn. Jaci rose to a sitting position, supporting her torso with arms stretched out behind her. Will you take me, Rowenthlove? Her mind stretched out to him as she began to feel the lust of Flight take over her. It felt pleasant, despite the awkwardness of possibly waking up next to someone she didn't know. She would hum and simply enjoy the ride. Rowenth grunted in response, his usually colorful vocabulary dwindling as lust cushioned his primal side away from his more sophisticated mind. Jaci nodded and rose to her feet, following them out to where she could climb aboard to the comfortable place between Rowenth's shoulders.
Rowenth made no display of dropping off his rider before he took off again to make for Seleneth's glowing form. Jaci, much like Jazz, was dressed simply in her simple, thin dressed she used for sleeping. It fell to her knees and was just thick enough that it would not reveal anything improper such as undergarments. Not that Jaci much cared for whether or not she was improper now, or any moment. She drifted to where Jazz and Mayalene had gathered, giving a smile that was pleasant despite the spaced expression that was hidden in her eyes. Jaci giggled and hummed, spinning happily so that her shift flowed slightly out from her legs. When she finally got to the point where Jazz had Mayalene were both equally close, although she was no closer to the cyanrider than the yellowrider dared to venture.
The bluerider looked to each of the ladies in turn and found them equally beautiful. Three lovely ladies gathered on a lovely night. Clearly this was a night of beauty. "Hello," she offered in her light, breezy tone.
Rowenth could not agree more as he set his sights on the lovely cyan dragoness. He trumpeted, announcing his arrival. I, Rowenth, am yours, lady Seleneth! I tempt you to be mine as well! I shall Chase until morning if I must! He bellowed again, louder this time, as he easily caught up with the yellow Weslieth and held pace with him.

Mayalene was determined right now to stay as far away from the other two girls as humanly possible. Yep, just stay away and everything would be A-okay! Sending brief glances toward the blue and yellowriders, the young woman shook her head, mumbling something about hormonal dragons. Why did Seleneth have to rise? Why couldn't she be one of those dragons that just never did? That would be better, that would be much better because then she wouldn't have to deal with all the feelings and people, and everything.
Shivering despite the warmth of the air, Mayalene shuffled from spot to another, going from point A to point B over and over again. She could have sworn that she was causing a line to form from the constant movement, but of course that was silly. How very silly. Taking another quick look at the two she shook her head again and started to mumble under her breath. She didn't say hello, she didn't do anything that had them knowing she knew they were there other than those few glances and shakes of her head.
Seleneth simply laughed at her rider's unwillingness to participate in such a beautiful thing. By Faranth the two of you are simply superb individuals aren't you? So beautiful with your pretty words, though Weslieth, such a sweet touch to show me the meaning as well. Certainly brings a new definition to the sublime thing that is imagery. She crooned and purred as she reveling in the pictures he sent to her, dipping her wing down to bank toward the yellow before spiraling away again. No, it wasn't time yet, not nearly, this little flight had only just begun.
Heading upwards again and out over the ocean the dusky blue, green of her hide reflected the moonlight in a haze of color, and she looked back at her two suitors. Describe the night to me my loves. Tell me what you see, what you feel and hear? Isn't it lovely? Paint me a picture. Twirling as she cork-screwed in various patterns, the cyan breathed in a sigh of relief. Yes, some females loved to have their flights be grand affairs with pomp and circumstance all about how amazing they were, but to Seleneth...it just mattered that she was a part of the whole; this night, this flight, this Weyr, this planet. She felt connected to everything.
Mayalene...well it was just too many feels for her to deal with at the moment...or any moment.

Words? Words... Rowenth could use words. He just had to remember them. If Seleneth wanted words, he would find her the most splendid words in his vocabulary! It took him a while, though, to find his civilized mind. Flights had a way of making the blue lose track of himself. Luminous. The night is luminous. You are colored like the ocean's waters, pulling me deeper into your presence and into the presence of the night. He banked to the side, following Seleneth with a respectful distance so he could watch the way she moved and flew and breathed. But the distance was fading. The goal of this night was to overtake her. To call her his own and to be her own, that was what Rowenth wanted.
Mystical. Alluring. Decadent. The night claims me as I claim it. He flew up high surveying Seleneth's beauty as the moonlight reflected off her shimmering, teal hide. Refreshing winds. Blanketing clouds. Tickling of ocean spray. The night rejuvenates me as I chase after it. I am anxious not to miss it, my night. He banked back into the line of the chase then continued to pass to the other side, taking his time to admire her and to search out his words zealously and earnestly. There was no hurry. It was just the three of them, sharing the night and sharing each other's presence. He hummed thoughtfully.
Shimmering. Iridescent. Glowing. Evanescent light. The night calls me. It wakes me from my dreams, for its promise of a dream is superior. I answer its call, flying as its cheerful winds beckon me. Rowenth joined the level of the Flight again, his eyes never leaving Seleneth's cyan form. She was beautiful. She was stunning. She was inescapable. My night teases me. She calls to me, giving no destination. All I can do is follow, hopelessly, striving after her.
Jaci, too, felt beckoned by Mayalene's beauty. They were both beautiful, these ladies before her. She smiled and hummed happily, enthralled with the night and with her company. She spun again, moving toward Jazz and circling around her before continuing in a half-circle with points equidistant from Mayalene. As beautiful as she was, she was still off limits for now. But that didn't mean Jaci couldn't dance! She spun and twirled and clapped, her hair and her shift flowing in the wake of each movement. She was anxious. And yet, the time spent was beautiful. The bluerider wanted Jazz and Mayalene to join her dance, too... but if they didn't want to she would not force them.
Rowenth dipped below the level of the chase, trying to pull forward. I follow wherever my night takes me, heedless of my own needs. For my desire is only for this night, my night and yours. He banked back into the line of the Flight, following Seleneth from below. For the night is you and you are the night. I strive for you, for you are to whom these words belong. The blue stopped holding back and flew after her with all his might. He pulled up beneath her, a clever maneuver of his wings and body twisting himself upside-down so that he could try to grasp her claws with his own. Lady Seleneth of the night, be mine... and I shall be yours.

So quiet my loves. Yet not quiet at the same time.
Seleneth crooned as she spiraled again, searching the dark sky for her two chasers. The yellow had not said another thing, but the blue had. Oh yes, and such beautiful words they were. Rowenth....oh Rowenth. Yes, he would do well she supposed for her first flight. Such a lovely male with even more lovely words. Sing to me fair chaser. Sing to me as we dance under the stars. Soothe me to slumber with the sound of your voice and let us lock wings and fall into bliss.
Sweeping her wings in she fell toward her champion, catching his body to hers as she fell. This was her male, her blue, her songs her beautiful lover. Have you ever though what a lovely word blue is? It can be so many things....as you are so many things my dead Rowenth.
As Seleneth made her move, Mayalene shivered, the feeling entirely taking her as she watched the bluerider dance. She wanted to....dance, yes dance with the other woman. She wanted to feel her close and hear her sing. Why wasn't she singing? Humming the cyanrider moved forward, grabbing Jaci to her and twirling around in a little circle. "Mine." It was a happy and content sigh, no doubt something that would take place of the shyness that would follow in the morning. For now though, for now everything was perfect.

Rowenth crooned in reply as the cyan Seleneth fell into his grasp. He reveled in her exotic nature, holding her tight to him as they fell downward like shooting stars. Cyan is far lovelier than blue. Sparkling. Vibrant. Beautiful. Shimmering. She asked of him a song, and he tried his best to supply her with a song. His warble was not very fancy, though. He knew little of songs and singing. It was simply a harper's teaching ballad, sung slower and without the words. He knew of nothing else he could sing.
Jaci twirled with Mayalene, laughter effervescent on her lips. She ran a hand through the cyanrider's wavy, brown hair and used the leverage to draw their faces closer together. She kissed her gently and affectionately, allowing her blond hair to mingle in waves with Mayalene's as the brunette's hair formed a curtain around them. On tip-toe she stood, the only way she could reach the taller woman's face, and she allowed herself to lean on Mayalene for support. Yes. This was perfect. This was beautiful. This was right.
Her blue eyes glanced toward the older yellowrider and she held out a hand, inviting her in. Soon her invitation was dropped, whether it was seen or not, to follow the curves of her prize's slender back. Soft. Beautiful. Gorgeous. Nothing could keep her away from the beautiful Mayalene. As her dragon fell with his cyan lady Jaci took her own lady in to the bed they would share that night. "Yours," she whispered in Mayalene's ear, "And how beautiful you are."
