Memnorooth felt strange. The world was far more fuzzy than it usually was. Her mind constantly had a great deal of things bouncing around in it, but she couldn't tell what they were, only that they made her feel strange. Strange and fuzzy. Always fuzzy! Fuzzier than usual. This confused her. She didn't understand why it was happening.
Lin was noticing things, too. She knew Mem was forgetful. Two Turns of Weyrlinghood, forgetting words and orders and ways to do things... The green was a handful. She was even more forgetful lately, though, and doubly prone to spacing out. She could barely get a full sentence in before getting distracted by the sky or other dragons or the prospect of food. There was a constant, incessant chatter from the dragon, and half the time Lin didn't know what in the world she was talking about.
Needless to say, Lin was just as confused as Mem was, with a painful dose of headaches on the side.
Then, the green started getting snappy. Things would set her off out of the blue. The constantly happy Memnorooth was, for once, not constantly happy and was often unhappy for a change. She found things to whine about. Things to criticize. Usually she was grateful for help with finding the right word for things, but Mem seemed intent on doing it herself, and got offended when Lin did it for her. This was even more confusing to the rider, and when she figured out what was happening, it was already too late.
Memnorooth landed down, hard, on one of the herdbeasts, claws crushing its ribcage. She opened her maw wide and moved in for a bite of the warm meat. Lin fumbled with what to do. She was feeling fuzzy, too... feeling more like Memnorooth... She caught herself slipping away. Her heart palpitated uncomfortably. Blood it! she said, panicked.
What? Memnorooth lifted her head.
Blood only, Mem! Not th'meat!
But WHY? Wait, what? Blood it? Why? What did you say? No, nonono! No time! No time! No time! Wings stretched out, Memnorooth took a chunk of meat out and swallowed it, and lapped up the blood that seeped out. Eating was taking too long. No time! No time! So she drank up the rest of the burning hot blood, and looked blankly up at the sky. There was a moment where she simply seemed to be lost, contemplating the wide blue yonder with minimal brain power.
Was she supposed to be up there?
Then, it hit her.
She was! She was supposed to be up there! Right now! With a powerful leap, Memnorooth was in the air, and Lin was Memnorooth. Her mind was impossibly cloudy. All she knew was that she had to fly. She wanted to fly. She needed to fly, and be chased, and then fall with something. With a male something. That's all Lin-Memnorooth knew.
Here I goooo! she called out to the Weyr, coupled with a challenging bugle-shriek. The somethings would come, right? They'd come for her? They had to! If they didn't... well. She didn't know what she'd do! She didn't want that to happen. But the somethings had to come, so they would. She screeched again and made for the clouds.[/blockquote]

Ayarth sat on his ledge, red still dancing around the center of his eyes. He was pissy, off and on for the last few days. His black hide was scabbed over with battle wounds from Laemirath. He constantly muttered to himself about the stupid green. Stupid wounds. Stupid this and stupid that. He just couldn't keep himself happy right now. HIs first flight, the first time he chased, and he gets mauled. It wasn't really the mauling that bothered him, it was the fact that he had lost her, the beautiful green.
Ayarth, chill out, Azra complained as his angry thoughts poured into her mind. She was sick and tired of his sulking. She stood, looking at him, letting her eyes wander over the wounds on his belly and his neck. She sighed. He would no longer be pure like he was. Oh well, it was all over now. Azra only hoped that he wouldn't chase any more. Maybe, just maybe, that last chasing was so bad for him that he wouldn't do it again. Ayarth only groaned to His and let his tail smack off the Black Flitter that was laying next to him. Carlos hissed as he fell and then took flight and moved to the bed of His. Ayarth was slightly pleased with this and sat up.
It was a few moments before there was another sound, or movement from the black. His eyes whirrled with colors as he listened. Something was different. He waited, waited for the sound that told him what was happening. Then it sounded. A shriek thing. It sounded slightly confused, but it didn't matter. He stood up onto his hind legs and let out his own pissy roar. He would show them. He would show them all! He would win a better green! He spread his leathery wings and lept into the sky. His body was still aching from the last flight, but that didn't matter. There was only one thing now.
Azra's jaw dropped as she heard the shriek. He couldn't be serious! Was he really going to go after her?! As soon as she started to wonder this, Ayarth lifted into the sky. Azra was mad enough that she could have beat the Black. How could he?! How could he do this to himself? There was nothing she could do though. It was too late to fight with the black beast that now took off after the flying female. Who is it, Ayarth? Azra asked, finally just accepting the fact that he was going to chase. Green Memnorooth Ayarth's voice said sternly into the mind of His. Azra sighed and headed out of her weyr, just as she began to feel the lusty flood that radiated off of Ayarth.
Ayarth's eyes found the bright green quickly. She was bright, and hard to loose. All the better. She was young, Like himself, another good mark. Yes, this was a better flight! She would see him, and love him! He let out another bellowing roar, one that made his own eardrums shake. As his wings beat the air, and he bent his body to try to propell himself forward, a few scabs on his belly ripped open again. He didn't care. There was the beauty. He needed her now! He would show them all that HE was better than the rest. He would make Laemirath jealous of his bright beauty. I CHASE! I WIN! I AM BEST FOR YOU, GREEN MEMNOROOTH! Ayarth bellowed again as he pushed himself faster, trying to get as close to her as he could.

Reyith was an odd creature. He didn't chase often, like the other males around the weyr. In fact, C'lin rather wondered at what drove him to chase at all. The females he picked to chase, on the rare occasion he did, were not connected by any shared personalities or appearances. Rather, they seemed to be chosen at random; Reyith flew on a whim. As a result, C'lin was never fully ready when Reyith decided to fly. It was as if the rider forgot each time that Reyith did have hormones like other dragons that told him when to do things. Today was really no different.
C'lin had just finished taking a bath. His weyr was clean, he was clean, he was wearing clothes that didn't smell like unbathed dragon for once, and he had found many things to be happy about recently. It had been a good season for him, as if the stars had finally crossed paths to make fate smile down on him. It was pleasant, and the blackrider was loving it. No longer was he a miserable soul searching for anything to forget his unhappy existence. He was, to put it simply, pleased as punch. Sure, there was the one little hiccup of his not being able to express his full affection for the one he felt such a lust for recently, but he'd get over that... somehow. He could wait that long, right? As he slouched down on his bed, peering over at where Reyith was sitting he let out a long and mournful sigh. Faranth... it certainly did seem like a long time.
Reyith, for once, was not focused on his rider at this point in time. A brightly colored green had caught his eye, and he had been watching her intently. His multi-faceted eyes swirled curiously and his claws clicked with anticipation against the stone ledge he lied on. Her strong emotional pulled combined with his bonded's anxious lust brought about a mood in him rarely seen. While still quiet, he was no longer paying loving and infinite attention to his lifemate. He felt quite suddenly very lonely... and a sense of longing filled his dragon ichor. She was beautiful. She would fly soon. And he would rise to meet her.
He stood, tiptoeing to his ledge with all the stealth of a feline as his eyes swirled faster and faster in more intense colors than normal. His unrest, only then, overflowed into C'lin, who had previously only been interested in his own human emotions. The blackrider frowned, standing and shaking some of the water droplets from his hair before peeking into the chamber that housed the black. His dragon certainly was acting strange. Reyith was rarely anxious for anything. Then it hit him, like a punch in the stomach that seared through all of his organs with an effervescent flame. Green Memnorooth shrieked her challenge. Reyith jumped with the utmost grace from his ledge.
There was another black already chasing, but Reyith hardly cared. He was blinded to all but the fluorescent green Memnorooth, and he was not an inexperienced flier. Unlike his fellow challenger, he made no sound. Instead he flew with a silent swiftness, soft and quick as a shadow through the air to catch up with his green lady. He flew not for his own ego or for his honor... He flew merely to fly. Memnorooth called him, and so he had answered. He knew not else. In that moment there was nothing else. There was just him and his lady and the great expanse of sky. He would not boast of his skills with bugling roars or witty banter. He was not a young dragon eager to prove himself. Fully adult and mature, Reyith held a silent confidence unembellished by fancy tricks. His lady may or may not choose him, but she would know he was there.
It didn't take long to catch up with the other black, but further than that Reyith dared not push himself. He held his pace steady, waiting patiently and silently as was his nature in or out of the sky. Not a glance was spared toward the other black any of the others that might join their dance. His focus stayed intently on Memnorooth. She was lovely, with her flamboyantly green hide and her lady-like figure, yet while she was small she was still larger than the ghost-like Reyith. The black dragon admired his lady, taking enjoyment from the chase and thrilled at the opportunity just to be there for her.
Back at the Weyr, C'lin was all too familiar with the waves of lust flowing through Reyith's body. It heightened his own that he had already struggled with, compounding until something bearable became completely intolerable. With less sanity than normal, he made his way from pure intuition to the weyr of the rider of Reyith's chosen green. A couple of times he almost stumbled on the way there, but sure as Reyith had chased C'lin eventually found his way to Lin's door. Feeling as if he himself were participating in the flight, flapping great wings to drive himself ever faster, he leaned against the door frame and panted like a tired canine. So many emotions and feelings were coursing through him, and for a moment he wondered if he could take another step. But he did. Of course he would. Gathering up the last bit of his mental stability, he entered and looked upon the girl with crazed eyes. She was lovely, to be sure. Perhaps if Reyith won he wouldn't mind so much? At least it might help with the feeling that he had so far been unable to forget. Taking a deep breath, he took his place in her weyr and stood a few paces away from the greenrider. Without a second thought, he relaxed and let himself become part of Reyith and part of the flight.

Tomarth stopped mid-sentence, looking out into the distance as if he’d heard something. Readjusting his wings Tomarth shook his head a little and then turned back to Paralee. And they were flying all around and…flying and… Tomarth trailed off, turning his head towards the invisible noise just like before. Paralee tried to find what he was looking at but it appeared he wasn’t really looking at anything. ”Come on, goodness Tommy, finish telling me about your drea-” she stopped suddenly to jump out of the way as Tomarth jumped up and his tail lashed out across the floor, knocking over the chair she’d just been sitting in. The blue looked positively feral, looking wildly towards the entrance of the weyr. It is Memnorooth Mine, I must chase, he said hurriedly, practically leaping towards the opening. He paused at the entrance practically itching to take to the sky after the green, eyes whirling a deep lusty purple. Paralee blinked, Memnorooth? That was…Lin’s? She tried to picture the girl but the image kept becoming shrouded by an image of the green dragon that was rising outside. The fine line between rider and dragon was being blurred by the sheer volume of emotions Tomarth was feeling. Desire was flooding Paralee’s mind, making it quite hard to think about anything but Memnorooth. Without warning Tomarth snapped open his wings. Powerful legs propelled him into the air after the green and he turned to follow her. He was behind two blacks; they were small compared to him. He was a blue! He had never really noticed the size difference between himself and blacks but it was only working for him now. Tomarth flapped his wings, once, twice, he was gaining on them. The blue called to Memnorooth, bugling in as sweet as voice as he could manage. Back on the ground Paralee felt anything but like she was on the ground. She was up in the air with Tomarth chasing the green, and there was a small part of her that was standing in her weyr. That part was very confused, she knew she had to get to Lin but it was so difficult to find anything with your head in the clouds. Dazed she could feel herself start walking, then running but to where she didn’t know. How she found the greenrider’s weyr was a mystery to her but she wasn’t complaining. Between moments of Tomarth-Paralee she found herself standing a bit away from the greenrider, ans then she was back, high above the weyr. [/ul]

If you asked Memnorooth what she was doing, she wouldn't have been able to tell you to save her life. Not properly, at least. She just wanted to fly and find a very nice boy, but she didn't know what to call it. That suited her fine, though. She just kept going and going, up and up and up, until her hide felt wet from the clouds and it was harder to breath. Why was it harder to breath? She didn't understand. Letting out a pitiful whine, and flew lower, and felt better. Then, she chanced a look behind her, and was surprised to find some boys there! Three boys, to be exact. The happiness that took over her was overwhelming.
So they were there to play! Two of them were black, and one was a very nice blue. She knew the blue. She couldn't remember his name, but she knew him, and she'd known him for a very long time! She'd seen the two black boys around, too. Well... she'd seen a lot of blacks around. They all looked the same. She really couldn't be sure if she'd seen these blacks around, or other ones, but she shrugged it off. It didn't matter! She just wanted to play with them, and since they were up here flying with her, they probably wanted to play, too.
Ohhhh, are you here to go for a fly? Like a... like a... oh, whatever! Words are silly! It's flying time! She trilled to her boys, and kept on flying. The air was nice and warm, very springy, and it smelled good and fresh. She didn't know why it smelled like that, or what smelled so sweet, but it didn't matter. She just had to make sure her boys didn't catch up to her, because that would be no fun. Lin, down in her weyr, was equally as carefree and fuzzy in the head. She smiled at Azra and C'lin and Paralee. The Memnorooth half of her wanted to sing and dance and run around, but Lin was developing some feelings of her own. Memnorooth mind couldn't properly interpret them, but the small bit that was still Lin knew what it was. Her body ached and she felt uncomfortably warm. She felt the lust in a blank way, with her mind still clouded by Memnorooth's forgetful abandon. She wanted them all. All three of them. They were all beautiful. But then, all lust disappeared from her mind, and everything slowed. Mem floated through the air. Out of the blue, she'd stopped racing the boys, and she was now flying at a leisurely, easy pace. She hummed to herself, admired the sky, and wondered how she got up here in the first place. She'd completely forgotten what she had been doing before. She couldn't help it - things just tended to slip her mind. After a little while, though, something caught her eye and she craned her neck to look behind her, and saw three boys there! She trilled a greeting to them. Maybe they'd like to play tag! Of course they would! Without bothering to ask, Memnorooth sped off again, rocketing down and up and down and up and all over the place. It was so much fun![/blockquote]

Memnorooth's bright and cheery voice entered Reyith's mind and he hummed after her in response. Being a black, he was a man of little words. But, on the right occasion, he loved to sing. So as she led them on a chase, racing through the sky, the black lifted his tenor voice in song to her. He made up the tune, something he hadn't heard before, and sung loud enough that he hoped she would hear. She was beautiful and bright, and as such he felt she deserved a song. Flying along, pumping his wings so that he could acquire speed with the trade-off of his usual silence, he chased after her as fast as he could and sang as loud as his mind and lungs would let him.
Back in Lin's weyr C'lin's clouded-over eyes watched as the greenrider smiled at the three of them who were chasing. While there were three male dragons, the blackrider noted he was the only human male. However, that didn't seem to matter. Lin, in this moment, was the most beautiful creature he had ever beheld. In that moment Ezzy's darling face was almost forgotten as he returned the smile in a lopsided fashion. Oh, gorgeous green rider... would you choose him? He almost longed to reach out and grab her, holding her tight in his arms. But she was out of reach. So far out of reach. His desire for her grew from the distance as he longed to step forward but found himself unable to. Then his eyes closed again and Reyith took control.
When Memnorooth slowed Reyith did as well, making sure not to put too much distance between them but not trying to grab her either. He was enjoying himself, soaring about the air currents chasing after one of the most loveliest greens he had seen. When she began to hum, he added in his own harmonies, hoping to please her with his voice. Then, quite suddenly, she sped off again and the black was hot in pursuit. It would be a game of tag then, so frivolous and carefree and yet exactly what the black was longing for. As they continued on in reckless abandon, neither of them singing anymore, he reached out to her with his mind.
I am here. Was all he said as he pushed himself harder to fly faster and faster, trying to close what was left of the gap between them.

Ayarth was slightly confused. What was he doing? First, she darted and flew with speed, but she acted confused. Did she not know what she was doing? No matter, she had the looks! He kept after her with his large wings beating the air strongly. His eyes whirrled with lusty purple, but slight waves of red swirrled with the purple as the other black began to sing. What a whimpy way to try to impress such a female! She was too good for lowly songs. She needed to see strength and power, Tenderness and love, want and need, all the thing HE, Ayarth, had. He let another bellow shake from his maw as he bared his white teeth to the other black. He puffed his chest and curved his paws to show off his talons. He twised in the air, flashing the breaking scabs on his body, as if to say, 'look what I can endure'.
Then she slowed. His chance. He could not let her get away. Stopping his twirls, he beat the air harder, closing the gap between himself and the bright green. Before he fully closed that gap, she was off again. He snarled and snapped his jaws on the air in the direction of the other black. Red starbursted through his eyes for a moment, then was run out by the purple as he picked up his pace once more, trying to capture that female. Do not be fooled by the imitations, I am a True Black, true Male! He hissed as he shot the blue and the other black a venoumous glare.
Azra looked at Lin. She had entered the weyr of the green rider in silence, and sat, stairing with lusty-angered eyes. Her body was tense as Ayarth's emotions raged through her veins like liquid fire. Her limbs shook as she looked at the other black rider. She wanted to attack him, to take a blade to his throat. In the back of her mind, where her normalthoughts were held captive, she was frightend and nervous, but those emotions were not escaping. All there was was the thought to kill, to win.

he trilled to the green, using a bit more effort to keep himself aloft for her viewing pleasure. Paralee's eyes were constantly looking the greenrider up and down almost hungrily to her slight alarm. Shaking her head much like Tomarth she managed to pry her thoughts away from for long enough to see who else was in the room. To her delight there was another girl there who quickly got a small portion of Paralee's hard wokring brain. She was bit scary though and unlike in her head she did not go anywhere near the scary black lady. The boy got none of her attention. [/ul]

The chase carried on. Memnorooth was having so much fun. She was so caught up in her own head that she kept forgetting Ayarth, Reyith and Tomarth were there, only to catch a glimpse of one of them, see the rest, and be pleasantly surprised. She would hum back to Reyith every now and then (because he hummed so nicely with her!) but she wasn't really showing any favorites. She gave Ayarth and Tomarth plenty of attention, too, with cute glances in their direction or croons. She really had no idea that she was supposed to pick one of them.
I am here, Reyith said. Memnorooth giggled in a dragon's voice. Well, of course you are, silly! I can see you right there! She sped up again.
She didn't understand why Ayarth was doing all of this if it hurt him. She saw that he had sores on his body. Nothing was fun if it hurt! Well, she couldn't remember a time where she'd been in pain, but she was sure it wasn't fun. Sometimes Lin stubbed her toe or got a cut and she always got so grumpy. She felt sorry for Ayarth. He should have made sure he was all okay before coming to play tag! She wanted him to feel better. His efforts weren't really impressing her - they were just gaining him tender sympathy.
Well, yeah, you're a maaaale! Memnorooth sang to him. You're not the other one. What's the word? I forgot the word! Oh, well, you know what I mean! You're not like me! You're a boy! The tone in her voice made her out to be very happy about that fact. She liked boys. They were nice to her! Bailarth was really nice to her, too, though. She liked Bailarth a lot. Bailarth was her best friend aside from LinMine! Memnorooth, look at me, isn't it strange? Tomarth said, and Mem, instantly intrigued, looked down at him. He was upside-down! She laughed at that, smiling a toothy open-mawed grin. Silly Tomarth! she said, voice high and happy like songbirds. How do you even do that? It looks tricky! She tried it herself, but her body instinctively did and entire roll and she ended up right-way up again. Tomarth was so talented! She didn't know how he was flying like that. She liked him a lot, too, like Bailarth. She remembered him. They were from the same clutch. She wanted to fly down to him and curl up around him while he was still upside-down and silly. Then they could go for a swim! She looked down. Where was the lake? Wasn't it supposed to be down there? There were just trees! She was frazzled. Where was she?! She looked around. She saw Reyith. Oh, she wanted to curl up with him, too! He was such a lovely singer! She didn't know him from before, but she liked him already. She liked him a lot. Did she like him as much as Tomarth? Yes. She decided she did. She liked them both the same. Then, when she was about to hum back to him, because it was so much fun, a flowery scent on the midday spring wind caught her attention. Oh, it smelled so nice... Nice... Who else was nice? Ayarth was nice. Ayarth was silly and needed a healer and was a boy and was really confident. He was so silly. And so nice. All three of her boys were nice! Like the flowers... She could still smell them on the breeze. Then, the breeze turned into a strong gust of wind. Caught off-guard, thinking about boys and flying weakly, the gust caught in her wing sails and carried her backward, right into Ayarth. She yelped, surprised, but then figured out who she'd knocked into. She immediately latched onto him, snuggling up with him, her tail twisting with his. She crooned happily. Tag, you're it!Lin's eyes fell softly on Azra. Memnorooth's cheer still lingered in her mind, but she was willingly more of herself now. She wanted to be present in her mind for this. Azra was beautiful. She yearned for the blackrider. She would be good to her. She offered up a lopsided smile and stepped forward, taking Azra up in her arms. She brushed Azra's copper hair out of her face and, gently, kissed her. Memnorooth had her Ayarth, and Lin had her Azra. Neither of them could ask for more.[/blockquote]

Reyith flew his best and paid no attention to the other black. The other black was young and inexperienced. Reyith was older and had flown many times. So as Ayarth hissed and glowered at him, the black didn't care. This was not a race between the males... only between each male and the object of their affections. So he kept going. Even if he wasn't the strongest, he was the swiftest. He could fly as silently as a feather floating in the air. But this challenge didn't call for swiftness, it seemed. When Ayarth passed him up, Reyith didn't even seem to care. If his lady called to him, he would rise to meet her... but if she called for another he would bow out.
Reyith gave a fond hum as Memnorooth's giddy voice entered his head, making him feel all warm and tingly. Her bright green hide shown brighter than the sun, in his eyes. She was the green for him, the dragon for him! And he picked up the pace a bit so he wouldn't get left behind. However, by the time he had caught up to Ayarth again he was too late. Memnorooth flew backwards, right into the claws of the other black. Then they dove, so peaceful and beautiful with talons interlocking... Reyith felt his heart sank. He crooned softly, sad mourning for what he had lost, and then proceeded to fly with a defeated dispositon back to the weyr he and C'lin shared.
C'lin came to, shaking some hair out of his eyes and blinking himself back into reality. In front of him Lin and Azra had already embraced and to his side was another rider who had also been denied. Built-up frustrations whirled about within him and made his innards scream. She was beautiful, bright and glowing to his passion-filled eyes. He wanted to leave, let the two lovebirds go on in peace, but he couldn't just leave with nothing. She seemed to embody all his desires at that moment, and he crossed to her like a drunk man. Then, quite suddenly, he stopped. Reyith's sorrow filled him like a flash-flood of self-pity. He blinked again, now standing so close to her that his breath could probably be felt on her face, and he came to a more sensible disposition. Now he was just... angry. Angry at the world. Angry E'ra wasn't old enough to satisfy him at his hour of need and angry that a sharding woman had won a flight over him. But, when it came down to it, it was about the dragons, not the humans. Shard it all between. He hadn't been laid in ages.
"Excuse me... madam..." The brunette seemed to almost stumble over her, swaying forward and then swaying farther back so that he was no longer in her face. He growled, holding his head with one hand and staying his person against a wall with another. It was no good being here. He should go back. Back to his weyr. Back to brood over his not-so-sunny life. With another unintelligible grunt, he left, making his way back to his weyr and beginning to yet again reorganize all its contents.
Mine? Reyith crooned, his dragon heart aching for both the green beauty he had lost and HisC'lin. The blackrider snorted, turning his leftover passion into anger a little more with each passing minute.
"It's nothing, Reyith." He grumbled, eventually passing out onto his bed with his face buried in the bedfurs. Needless to say, the man had no further plans of going out today. C'lin just wanted to melt away into his bedsheets and brood away the pent-up aggression that still festered inside of him. It'd be fine... eventually. But right now he was a long way from fine.

Ayarth's wings were beginning to burn with angry tiredness. His muscles wanted to stop, but he couldn't, he was so close, so close he could almost taste it! He pressed on with a snarl, and tuned out the other two for the moment. He could only think about pressing on now, he couldn't fight them. He watched as the green gazed over her wings and shoulder at them. It only made him more eager to catch her, to make her his.
Then, her wings caught the air. He felt a pang of hope and oppertunity in his deep chest. Before he knew it, he felt her warmth on his body, and heard her voice in his head. He twined his tail with hers and clung to her with all the rest of his strength. She was his, and he would not let her go now. As they began to drop, he let out one last growling sound that was similar to purr. His.
