It was like last time: Nikianeth had become more aggressive and snappy when she spoke. She even occasionally paced on her ledge or other ledges. She had watched Callistath turn brighter and brighter. When the Gold had Risen, Nia had to be quickly to get Nikianeth out of the Weyr to avoid a fight. But Nikianeth was still on edge. Her Flight would be soon, but when would it come. Even Flare, the only Lizard of Nia`s group that she really put up with, had become the victim of her aggression. So the Blue hung back, playing big brother to the other two Lizards, making sure that none of them would end up between her teeth and gone.
Nia wanted it to be over with. She was tired of feeling the constant pressure and verbal abuse that her Orange was giving her. She knew she was the only one who could control her currently tempered dragon from going off and shredding Fire Lizards or other poor dragons who might fall victim to her wrath. Nia wanted it to be over. Niki usually went back to a better mood once this build up of emotions, feelings, and desires had passed. At least, that was what happened the last time Niki had Risen. Nia was very grateful that out of all the dragons, Niki would at least listen to Kalith. She did not know why, but the Orange held some strange affection for the Copper. And the Orange, though she had not wanted to give up her Wingsecond position to a bratty Gold, had listened when the change in wing assignment had been announced.
I Fly, Nia.
Nia lifted her head from her hands. Her elbows had been supporting her head, face down in the palms of her hands, on her desk as she was thinking about what all needed to be done for the day. But now that the Orange had announced her desire to Rise, the introverted woman knew that any plans she had were going to be put on hold for the time being. She turned to look at Flare, Nix, and Callim sitting in different places across the span of her room. “Go on,” she said quickly and slightly annoyed, feeling the desiring effects of Niki starting to race through her blood. “I will call you when things are better.” With a chorus of chirps, two blue dots and one brown leaped in the air and blinked between.
Now that little problem was out of the way, Nia next problem to maintain concentration on her Orange as the dragon glided down to the beast pens to pick out her creature of choice. Nia stood up and walked over to the dragon couch, closing her eyes and letting her mind connect with Niki`s. She stumbled slightly, reaching her hand out to support herself against the weyr wall, but never falling to the ground. She felt the rush of flying in the air flowing in her veins, the desires to fly high and far vibrating deep into her bones. Soon they would have that wish.
Niki came crashing down on her scared victim. The creature cried out as Niki sank her teeth into the belly. The blood was warm, flowing onto her tongue, feeling the spaces between her teeth, and the taste was something pleasant. Her tongue gently licked the bloody body of the creature, tasting the meat and fat that the animal hid under skin and fur. She wanted it! She had to have it! NO! she could hear in her mind. She growled lowly. NO! She threw her head in the air, letting the rest of the blood drain into her mouth. Well, she would have that at least.
She hunted down a third, choosing what she felt was the best creature that had not been chosen over by that Gold from that Flight not that long ago. Again, the mental warfare began again as she blood flowed into her mouth, over her tongue, down her throat. She was content with the creatures that she had chosen. Their blood would give her more energy for her Flight. Now she just needed the proper males. She had visions of Browns and Purples, even possibly a Bronze or Iron. Those Kings preferred their Queens, not the sub-Queens. But today she was Queen! Whether she Clutched or not, she was Queen now!
And with that thought, she rushed into the air, the wind from under her wings knocking back the carcass of the dead beast that laid still and beginning to turn cold with the final steps of death. Niki was in the air, her call ringing through the air, tempting the males to come and Chase her. Nia continue to stand next to the dragon couch, her eyes opened slightly, but glazed over. She was with Niki right now. Until she knew Niki was fine, she had to keep her full concentration on the Orange. And until the Riders of Chasers appeared, she could care nothing less for anything else but her dragon.

Harlequinth had been doing well since the blue had finally made his way out of the infirmary. The wing that Aimeth had torn was healed now, though a bit stiff, and the claw marks down his neck had scarred to grayish lines. Rubbing a hand across the teal colored hide, K'leb whistled one of his favorite tunes. It was a simple one that his mother had sang to his siblings and him while they slept. Still, it held many memories within its simplistic melody. Harlequinth crooned as he rested his blue head on his front feet, his tail curled up around them as well. Things were nice again finally, or at least the blue had yet to complain.
Eyeing his weyr where Falx and Panzer were sleeping, K'leb sighed. Everything was good, everything was okay. Or at least it was until Harlequinth perked his head up like a dog on point. Turning rapidly swirling eyes to the cave entrance, the blue made a low hiss. One of the females is rising K'lebMine. Shaking the rider away from his side, the blue snapped his jaws and lashed his tail. "Well.....ummm...you going to chase Quinn?" The blue rider looked his dragon over carefully trying to decipher the moody attitude. Of course not Mine. There is...no....reason to. The blue stumbled over his words though as he felt the first onslaught of lust.
Knowing that it wouldn't be long before Harlequinth succumbed, K'leb rubbed the teal hide where sapphire and ice blue stripes criss-crossed down his neck and back. The diamond pattern glinted in the soft glow light as Harlequinth took a few tentative steps to the ledge. I AM NOT GOING TO CHASE THAT SHARDING.....ooooooooh sooo pretty! K'leb could barely stop his laughter as Harlequinth caught sight of the orange. She was moving fast to the feeding grounds. "You going or not....you know a brown could alwa..." NO! I WILL CATCH HER!!! Roaring angrily, the blue launched out of his cave and snapped open his wings.
It wasn't the smartest of moves, and the sharp pain made the dragon hiss. Still, all his violet and red eyes could see was the orange. Nikianeth was her name. Oh yes, what a beautiful name it was! My Queen. Harlequinth thought the greeting to himself, cautious of talking during a flight since his last mistake. It would not end that way though. Angling his wings, he followed the orange as she arced across the skies.
Finally arriving in Nia's weyr, K'leb paused to catch his breath. The blue could have taken him here first couldn't he? Well, no not really. Quinn's mind wasn't on his rider in the least right now. Instead K'leb had to find his own way, but he did. Casting his golden brown gaze around, he finally saw Nia near the couch that her orange slept on. The idea that this wasn't a smart move crossed his mind. However, blues weren't that much smaller than oranges...at least not more so than that purple had been with Callistath. Besides, all that mattered was what Harelquinth felt now. In his eyes, Nia was just as much as a possibility for him as Harlequinth believed Nikianeth to be. Not entirely plausible, but maybe...just maybe.

G'kar was working on a report for Weyrwoman Roha. So far, nothing connected with the assassins had happened since his arrival, and while he wasn't precisely disappointed, it was starting to give him a feeling of being rather useless. How could he investigate the assassinations, if there was nothing happening to investigate? At least he had been gathering information on people's opinions towards Dalibor itself, but he couldn't help but feel that it just wasn't enough.
Nikianeth Rises, Natoth said abruptly, breaking into G'kar's thoughts.
Nikianeth… An orange. Ridden by Armania, though she preferred Nia if he remembered correctly. Nice enough. Quiet. Go, he said, standing to make his own way to her weyr. He could use a good distraction, and what was a Flight if not an excellent distraction?
Natoth waited on his ledge, watching Nikianeth intently as she blooded the herdbeasts, ready to spring into the Chase as soon as she began flying. It had been too long, G'kar holding him back when they first arrived to keep from muddling his own wits. Now, given a free hand, Natoth was determined to Chase—and Catch!
He followed at she shot into the air, returning her call with a bugle of his own to let her know of her suitor. A blue was chasing as well, but Natoth paid him hardly any mind. Blues didn't fly queens, even sub-queens. Bright Nikianeth would be his this day.
---
Um'per was hard at work, as usual, this time repairing his riding harness. His second backup riding harness, to be precise. No harm in being too careful. Radith, however, was on the lookout for something a little more entertaining.
He spied an orange in the feeding pens blooding her kills, and his eyes started to whirl faster, taking on tinges of red and violet. Nikianeth is Rising.
Um'per looked up. "An orange? Radith, didn't you learn anything from Noyth?"
Noyth was gray,[/color] Radith pointed out. Even Um'per wasn't sure if Radith was teasing him or just not making the connection, though teasing was more likely.
He sighed. Why had he Impressed a dragon that chased every female that caught his eye and teased him whenever possible? "Take me to her weyr," he said, scrambling up without riding straps for the quick trip to Nikianeth's weyr. Um'per slid off just as Nikianeth shot up from the feeding pens.
Radith's liftoff, showered him with dust, but by now the flightlust was heady enough that Um'per barely noticed, only retaining enough presence of mind to make his way further into the weyr, to where the sub-queen's rider waited.
Beautiful Nikianeth! he called, letting her know of his pursuit. The brown and the blue didn't matter (though it would be quite a nice prank on Nikianeth's part if the blue won). All that mattered was his beautiful orange and the sky around them.

Nikianeth was off in the sky. She headed straight in the air, going upwards with as her wings flapped hard, pushing her further and further into the clouds. It was good to have the wind under her wings again. Such a feeling could never be replaced even in flightlust. It was a natural feeling with her, especially since she had the strong enough wings to carry her into the skies. Her heart soared with her wings. She would have to get Nia to go flying more often. It had been dull lately, waiting around the weyr just for her turn to Rise came.
Now it was time to see what suitors were Chasing her. The first color that she saw was purple. A Purple was chasing her. Good, she thought. Only proper for him to Chase her. Then her eyes fell onto the Brown. A Brown! Duareth! No, wait, this was not her previous winner. While he was a pale shade of brown like Duareth, this was not him. Well, she was not going to discriminate. She welcomed the Brown to try for her. Now her eyes were looking for more suitors. Something small and… BLUE! A Blue was Chasing her?! While she applauded him for knowing who a real Queen was, it was a curious sight. Blues never Chased Oranges, let alone win.
She looked around to find something else. She was looking for Duareth. He was not Chasing her? Why was he not here? She growled lowly. If he was not here, he was missing his chance to show her his power again. How dare he not show up and give her the proper respect that she deserved?! She roared in anger. Fine! Let him choose what he wanted! The color in her eyes, while they remained purple with lust, began to have hints of orange in them. At least the other suitors were smart enough to know that they should Chase and try to please this Queen.
With that thought in mind, she suddenly turned and dived bomb the suitors. She would not make this easy. Her previous winner had won her through songs and praise. She wanted more than that! She wanted to test to see if they were worthy. Her fury first came down on Radith. Teeth bared, she attempted to snap at his legs as she went under him. As she did so, she came close to Harlequinth as her tail came down and hit his back. It was not hard, more of her tail moving in the air as she flew. But she was still satisfied. But she was not about to let the Brown escape her test. She shifted her wing a little to shift her direction, her claws coming out in attempt to rake his back. She would not damage their wings. After all, they WERE Chasing her. She just needed to test them.
As for Nia back on the ground, she flinched as she felt her dragon`s rage when Duareth was not Chasing. She blinked and tried to look around, S`rial was not here. Ah, her friend was not going to show. Must be busy or away. But she tried to soothe her dragon with a combined lust that they had at least three other suitors to choose from. Well, that alone was enough to stop some rage, but now she had this insane idea to test them. Her eyes widened as she went on her rampage. Nia`s turned her attention onto the suitor`s Riders, watching them to see their reactions. She hope through Niki`s test that none of them had been driven away yet.

Harlequinth hissed as a brown and purple joined the flight. The purple he could care less about, but that brown? Snapping his jaws, the blue forced himself to stay in line. He had learned his lesson about flights last time. He wouldn't dare lay a claw or tooth on the male, but that didn't mean he couldn't throw him off! Winging in between the purple and brown, the blue attempted to throw the two males off. There! That was much better. Crooning, the blue focused once again on Nikianeth.
She was beautiful and perfect in his eyes, a true queen if he ever did see one. Already though, his healing wings were straining. He kept up fairly well though, he was a large blue after all and the flight had only begun. Diving and climbing as she did, Harlequinth strove to show his talents and strengths. For Nikianeth he would be her champion! He would show her that those other two males were not better than him because of their color or size. Oh no, if they won this flight, it would be because he couldn't prove himself.
It wasn't entirely unexpected as the orange looked around, presumably for her last winner. When she didn't find him among the chasers, Nikianeth swung out to attack the males. Harlequinth crooned as she went for the purple first. Watching the attack carefully, he had to admire how strong she looked. Her came around to his back then, and the blue tried to dodge it. However, the smack did land soundly across his wounds making him bite back a cry. Instead the sound came out as a harsh hiss. He didn't do anything else than that, simply right himself and kept his position in line.
When the brown got the next attack though, Harlequinth wanted to warble with delight. Finally some justice had been done! Now, satiated since the brown had been probably injured a bit, the blue focused in on Niki's orange form. It had gone ahead once again and the teal blue shape followed behind. He wouldn't make a move to catch her, no that was something for greens or pinks or other lesser females. Nikianeth was his Orange Queen, and she deserved no less than choosing her mate. However, it was only right that they be tested first. Harlequinth loved this idea. Test us until you are satisfied My Queen. We are yours to challenge.
In the weyr, K'leb leaned against another of Nia's walls. He kept his distance, he didn't want to get too close to her either until she had made her choice. The blue rider didn't know where any of this was going, but he could at least wait it out. Harlequinth's vision took over his now and again giving him insight to the flight. When he was hurt K'leb bit back the hiss that echoed between the blue and His. He wouldn't show any sign of bother! Like Harlequinth, K'leb agreed with being tested. Injured unnecessarily not so much, but tested? Bring it on! Leveling his gaze with the other riders' and Nia, K'leb let out his breath and urged Harlequinth on further.

Natoth crooned as Nikianeth turned to approach her chasers, eyes whirling faster. I'm yours,[/i] he called to her, only diving slightly, to avoid the worst of her claws, allowing shallow rakes along his back. For his brilliant orange beauty, he could stand a few scratches. They only proved his worthiness. I'll pass all your tests,[/i] he sent back, putting all his need and want for her into his mental voice, coupling it with a lusty bugle.
He continued to follow her, trying to match her movements and ignoring the blue that had such a high opinion of himself, to think he was worth to catch a queen, even a lesser one like Nikianeth. Though there was nothing 'lesser' about her when she was Flying high… No, his only competition was the purple.
Down in Nia's weyr, G'kar reached out for Nia, though she was too far away to touch. He wanted to hold her in his arms, feel her body against his, release some of the feelings he was getting from Natoth and she was surely getting from Nikianeth.
---
Proving that he had, in fact, learned something from his scarring in Noyth's flight, Radith tucked his legs up as Nikianeth snapped at them, narrowly avoiding her teeth. The threat to him did nothing to dampen his lust though, and he crooned as the brown was raked. Nikianeth! We could have such fun, he called, showing off some of his better flight manuevers.
Um'per just closed his eyes, blocking out the sight of the orangerider and her fellow suitors. Radith's lust consumed him, but he would make no moves unless his dragon was chosen. Only then would he act on the feelings surging through him.

With her rage sated and filled to where she was a lot calmer, the Orange straightened herself out in the sky. Such quick movements and diving had taken a lot of energy from her, but she would continue to soar high. She would not stop until she was tired and ready to choose. But she could feel from her Rider`s mind that the woman was ready for the dragon to choose, ready for this Flight to be over. Nikianeth understood. Her moodiness had caused enough stress and weariness before the Flight. This was only causing her to feel even more weary. But she and her Rider still had much to endure with the Flight still going on. Not to mention what would come once Nikianeth had made her decision.
While the Blue flew well, Nikianeth knew that Blues did not fly Queens (or sub-Queens, but Nikianeth thought herself Queen in this moment). She rumbled at the Blue, at least praising him for doing something that most others would not do. But she was not going to chase him off or do anything further. It was obvious he had been hurt before this Flight and now again since her tail had hit him some. The Blue would need to Chase another day. With the Blue discarded from her mind, her attention was set on her last two suitors: The Brown and the Purple.
Either of them would be a fine choice. Both of them were sub-Kings, worthy of such a Queen as herself. The purple was very typical of his color, thinking of the games that they could play. But Nikianeth was an Orange, and she thought of herself proper enough that she did not play games. Then there was that Brown. He was new here, sent to be representative of some other Weyr with his Rider so they could watch Dalibor. Why did Dalibor have to prove itself? It was grand and marvelous! That was proof enough! But she had to make her decision. She stopped moving her wings and began to let herself fall, falling into the suitor that she had chosen. Come, Natoth, and fly with your Queen, she said as she allowed herself to become twined with her chosen winner.
Nia continued to stand near her dragon`s couch, her eyes glazed over slightly as she was flying in the air and soaring towards the sun with her dragon. She could feel that her dragon was nearing the end of the Flight. Such maneuvers and “tests” had taken some strength from the Orange. And while the Orange could have continued on longer, Nia attempted to ask her Orange to choose soon. It seemed that the Flight was over as she felt her Orange make her decision and begin to her descent to her winner. All that left now was the feelings that were enveloping Nia at the same time. With quick steps to meet G`kar, she fell into his embrace and into their dragon`s passion.

Natoth continued Chasing his beautiful Nikianeth, ignoring the pain on his back from where her claws had marked him. He could worry about that later, after the beautiful orange was his. She fell, right towards him, and Natoth surged up to meet her, twining around her and spreading his wings to slow their fall. He bugled triumphantly. His! She was his!
G'kar crossed the room as quickly as his legs could take him, wrapping his arms around Nia as they met in the middle. Mouth to mouth, skin to skin… He wanted all of her. For now, for this one day and night, she was as much his as Nikianeth was Natoth's. They were one.
--
Um'per slumped as Radith's lust drained out of him when Nikianeth chose the brown. A good flight, and someone had to lose, he reminded himself, pulling himself straight again. He had work to do, and if his head was still a bit fuzzy and his blood concentrated far from his head… Well, that was what a cold bath was for. Radith winged back to the weyr, and Um'per clung to his purple's neck ridges as they returned to their own weyr. There would be other days. Other flights. For now, he should put it out of his mind.
