Inali still couldn't believe she impressed. Even more unbelievable was what she had impressed to. Was it a Sub-Queen? No, she didn't care about that though. Was it a female fighter? No, again that wasn't the point. Looking down at Privith as he chased his tail around, the weyrling had to sigh. Why the long face maaaan?!? Coooome oooon LiliMine! Duuuuuude, just look at all the totally outragous colors! That was what Inali couldn't believe.
The blue was....amusing, but totally out of hand. The normally reserved and stoic girl didn't know the first thing about talking to Privith. Well duuude, how about saying like hello? Using his, you're totally stupid voice, Privith wagged his tail. The different shades of blue on his hide glistened in their normal polka-dot patterns, newly oiled by your truly. Reaching down to scratch the little dragonet's eye-ridges, Inali bit her lip. LiliMine, dude, you like soooo need to chiiiiillllll! Drawling in his normal insane voice, Privith rolled onto his back so that His could scratch his stomach.
"First Privith, I'm perfectly composed. Second...I'm not a boy. Please stop calling me dude." Inali wrinkled her nose in disgust at the word. She was anything but masculine really. Looking down at her pale skirts and slightly darker top, the 15 turn old shook her head sending golden brown waves tumbling around her. Fiiiiiiine! You're a woman, I tooootaaallly know that maaaaan. Woooooomaaaaaaan.....woooaaahmmaaaan....Woah Man! Sighing, Inali closed her eyes and counted to ten slowly.
Beside her Wyred flicked her green tail. She certainly didn't approve of that Thing. In fact, the lightly hued flit despised him. At least Inali liked Privith out of impression to him. Wyred did anything and everything to make his life miserable. Of course that never phased the blue. Nothing ever seemed to. That at least was a good match between Inali and her dragon. It's like I said. Just chiiiiiiil LiliMine.
"Why are you calling me that?" Inali snapped at her blue. Instantly wishing she could take the tone of voice away. It was..different than what he had normally called her after impression. In fact, Privith had started it around the time of the hatching feast. I thought....you'd like it Mine. Wow, there was a straight forward answer from the blue. He didn't even draw out the words or.....wait. Staring into the yellow, green eyes that were swirling slowly, Inali bit her lip. I'm sorry PrivithLove. I guess I need to try harder to...chill...as you say.
Holding out her arms, the weyrling smiled. "Come here Privvy! Come to me." Crooning, the blue padded from his bed to His' and curled up in the weyrling's arms. See, told you we were like toootally perfect. "Yeah, I guess you were right."

How could Pananarie share the Barracks with a bunch of baby dragons and not pay each and every one of them a visit? It was a shame that Demeth was getting a little too large to roam the halls with her. The Tan insisted upon squeezing in to the best of her abilities, but unfortunately there were other people in the hall that needed to fly through, forwards or back. Pan didn't want to go alone. She loved company any which way she could get it, so much to Arty's reluctance, the full-grown tabby was scooped up into her human's arms and forced to go wherever she was whisked away to. She still kept a mental connection going with her dragon, so whatever she saw could just as easily be seen by her bonded. It was a shame really; Demeth loved the young almost as much as her rider did. As of late, her spirits have been soaring thanks to the weather. When she was set back like this, her depression was childlike in its tragedy. I'll send you lots of pictures, Pananarie promised. Hey, and maybe I can get them to go outside so you can say hi!
That would please me to no end. Do convince them. Her voice was gentle and suggestive rather than cool and commanding. It was sad enough as it was that they couldn't stay for the whole Hatching, but at least they would still have a chance to see miniature dragons. They might even get to see those twin Tans everyone was talking about! Demeth was really excited about those two, and for her to be that excited over anything was endearing enough to make an impression. The strangest part though was the whole 'boy Impressing to a Tan' business. Was that okay? Was it normal? Pan could only wonder what kind of boy this new Tanrider happened to be. If he was anything like most of the men she avoided, she'd take care to keep a distance from him. It didn't matter what he rode.
The first weyr she nearly passed was wide open, and the Blue inside had such an interesting color on him that Pan had to pause and stare. Was it Blue, or Purple? A little colorblind when it came to telling the difference, Pan had to guess via size. Still, without other dragons to compare him to, she couldn't tell. Hey! The Blue had a girl with him! Like Paralee! A broad grin formed upon her face. From experience, female Blueriders were a breed apart. She had to stop by and say hello. Maybe she could even keep that promise to Demeth and coax the two into heading outside. The little dragon needed some sun, didn't he? They surely wouldn't mind.
"Hi there, partner!" Pananarie stood by the entrance, leaning against a side with Artemis still in her arms. The tabby flicked her tail, expressing her discomfort. She wanted to be put down, all the more so when she focused on Privith. His tail was flicking around to, and like any kitten-minded cat, she needed to make it stop moving. Beginning to struggle, Pan decided it was okay to put the cat down. Artemis practically leapt out of her arms while she was crouching down and ran straight into Inali's room, eying the dragon before mewling back at Pan. Whatever was going through her mind was beyond her human, but the truth was, she was not sure about playing with this creature's tail. He was still bigger than she was.
"That's a real handsome dragon you have there. You just Impressed, right? I Impressed like, a turn ago, I think. I've got the room down the hall from here," she gestured out, as she was the kind of person who liked to make things as visually and audibly understandable as possible. "But Demeth's too big to squeeze through these halls, and she really wants to meet all her new cousins." A hint and a nudge, but Pan wasn't afraid to go the distance and ask if Inali didn't get the picture. She smiled again, as it had been fading a little during her ramblings, and decided that now was better than never to introduce herself. "My name's Pan!"

((OOC: And here we come to kidnap this thread! XD ))
Popping around the corner of the hallway, Skol looked around, seeing a girl with a fuzzy thing standing by the open door of a room. She scuttled down the hallway to peer around the girl-with-fuzzy-thing's legs, finding only another girl and it's pets. She leaped into the air and popped out of sight, though her chirps could shortly be head back around the corner she'd first appeared around.
Shortly, the little green came back around the corner, this time accompanied by a delicate light pink flitt, who also surveyed the hallway, and gave a dismissive chirp back around the corner. Finally, much larger than either flitt, a tan snout appeared and peeked around the corner as well.
Mith looked up at Valha, who walked calmly around the corner and waited for her dragon to join her at her own pace. She didn't quite look at the other girl in the hall, not wanting to interrupt her conversation, but did offer her a quick wave as Mith, head low with Hati and Fenis riding, at least in Hati's case, vigilantly on her back, crept around the corner and rushed to lean against her Valha's legs.
Slowly, the pair (or group, depending on how you looked at it) make their way down the hallways toward Pananarie and what Valha knew to be Inali's room. Skadi and Skol ranged out ahead of their Hatiboss, BigPet and Theirs, investigating every odd scent or strange bit of fluff on the floor, chirping out their findings to reassure their BigPet that they were making sure nothing would get her.
Skol, in sniffing an interesting trail, ran headlong into Pananarie's foot. Valha sighed as the little green shook her head, gave Pan a good sniff, and chirped to proclaim her safe – then promptly went over the other weyrling's feet rather than around them.
Valha, sighing, apologized, “Sorry, sorry! Skol tends to get...well. The lot of them act like the sack full of brainless flitts that they are.” Mith shyly poked her head around her rider's legs, trembling, but not running, as she watched the other weyrling – and the mysterious fuzzy thing in her arms.

"Come back."
Unath knew better than to pay attention to Q'sis when his amusement was stronger than his orders. Being small and low to the ground still, her draconic hobble was more of a scuttle. She tried to keep ahead of her rider's enormous stride, occasionally peeking over her shoulder at him. Q'sis held himself back at the entrance of the barrack, giving Unath only a shadow to spot. He wanted to see if she could recall where their room was-- the very first off the corridor --without his assistance.
When Unath took off down the women's corridor, he had that answer. "Wrong way," he barked after her, a little more insistent but still rather unconcerned, and it took a lot of concern to turn Unath around. They had both been fed, and Unath's satisfaction with her full stomach overpowered good sense. At least in the middle of the day Q'sis could explain to any accusers why he was wandering about the restricted hall. He had no particularly good excuses prepared-- he could call back his dragon at any time with a more forceful command --but he wagered on Unath working as a distraction in his favor.
Heeeeellllloooooooooo. Unath drawled at Mith as she slithered up beside the other Tan. Unath's entire head was covered in herdbeast blood. The coating cut off abruptly at her neck. Her head was the one spot Q'sis had not washed before she made her break for freedom. She continued on without pause-- excepting an attempt to bump her red nose against Mith's pale one --and trotted past Valha and Pananarie into Inali's room. Once there she arranged herself on the dragon couch.
Q'sis had just arrived when she skittered back out and darted behind him. Not my room, she confessed to her rider, blue eyes filling with sharp whorls of confusion. Unath crab-walked away from cover soon enough, pointing her nose at the tabby Pan had brought. The dragonet snuffled so hard for the feline's scent her entire body actually rocked with the puffs of her lungs. ...am I hungry? she asked the tall, tanned man beside her. Q'sis shook his head.
"Hey Valha," he acknowledged the other twinrider. The greeting was shortly followed by a visual inspection of Mith. Q'sis had the same conclusion as usual, written in a raised brow: why hadn't Valha fixed her dragon yet? Aside from that point he had no quarrel with the woman, and was not seeking to make one. He could not see Inali in her room, but he did tip his head to Pananarie. "We were just leaving."

Something little bumped into Pan's foot. She felt it right away, though it ought to have been otherwise difficult or even impossible to notice through the thick-hided boots she wore that day. The Senior Weyrling glanced down at a Green flitter that had hobbled right against her foot and flashed a smile. Just as much as she could love a baby dragon, Pananarie had the same great big heart for any other creature on Pern's face. After the life she lead to this point, animals were the easiest sorts for her to trust. As long as you could read their body language--something she was naturally talented at--animals can be admired and respected at one's leisure.
Artemis didn't seem to find the creature fascinating in the same way. She flicked her tail and glowered at the flitter before she started to stalk ever so closely towards her. Skol was smaller than she was; Artemis was already a full grown adolescent tabby. She was nearly as tall as some of the medium-small canines around the weyr and maybe even capable of wrestling a Gold firelizard if her life depended on it. Pan was getting better at realizing the dangers of a loose Arty around smaller pets, so she took a quick step towards the cat to spook her into flying in the opposite direction. It wasn't as if Artemis would take it the wrong way, but Pananarie did not want to have to answer to the flitter's angry owner after her pet poked a few holes in it.
Movement caused her glance to shift upwards, noting the form of a girl and a small dragon behind her. There were other flits about, but they seemed a little less shy than the Tan that tailed the Junior Weyrling down the hall. Pan's grin did change shape to something warmer. Animals always excited her, but people had to be dealt with in somewhat...subtle ways? It really didn't matter. Pan never thought of her actions that seriously. She must have been affected by the sight of such a shy dragon. Perhaps her bonded was shy too. Pananarie didn't want to scare her away.
"Oh! It's alright. She's awfully cute! Skol, was it? That's a cool name." Craning her neck to the side, she really wanted to get a better look at the Tan hiding behind Valha. "Hey, are you a Tanrider too? You must be! I don't remember any girls Impressing to Browns last Hatching."
She needed to get a really good look for Demeth's sake. She bet her Tan would just love to meet others like herself, especially such young ones.
A noise was heard down the hall, and it sounded like someone calling out. Pan's attention drifted out for a moment only to be rewarded by the sight of another Tan. This one looked a lot like the one hiding behind Valha, or at least from what she could tell. It had similar markings in alternate colors. There was no mistaking it! That was the Tan that Impressed to the boy! Pan went tense for a moment, trying to remember what the boy looked like. He was so small from up in the stands that he didn't seem imposing. Maybe if a Tan chose him, he was as good as one of the girls. Upon seeing the boy himself as he turned the corner, her spirits fell a bit. Distracted of course. And in a hurry. But if she could get them to go outside, even for a second, she could really make Demeth's day.
"Hey! Don't go yet!"
Pan put her hands together, but she had no remorse for the outburst she just made. "Can you come outside with me for just a second? Demeth and I would love to meet the new Tans! I promise it won't take too long," she asked, though it sounded like she was begging with a side of dignity. Artemis had given up on hunting down the flitters after Unath had torn into Inali's room, effectively scaring the tabby back under the bed. Though she was slowly re-emerging, her goal now was to leave the room and seek shelter somewhere a little less chaotic.

“Q'sis,” Valha returned, willing to be friendly. Mith had perked up when Unath had appeared, getting a bump from the other tan's red-stained snout that left behind a smudgy circle of blood on the side of her pale head. She almost followed her sister into Inali's room, but was called back firmly by Valha, who was very firm in pointing out that this WAS NOT her room.
Mith was just starting to panic a little, wondering where her room was...or if she still even had a room...had she ever had a room? when Unath scuttled back out and ended up behind her Hers. She watched while the her counterpart investigated the fuzzy thing, then darted out from behind Valha, shedding flits as she went, to press affectionately against her sister, before darting back to her rider. I like me, she explained quietly.
Valha dropped a pat onto Mith's head, smiling back at Pan, “Yup, Mith here is one of the tans from that last clutch. Q'sis's Unath,” she pointed towards Q'sis and his dragon, “Is the other. You're a tanrider too? I'd heard that Q'sis and I made four – It's nice to meet you!”
She listened with interest to Pan's request, looking down at Mith, Do you want to meet another tan, Mith?
Mith was confused – another tan? I already know me? she asked uneasily, shooting a look at her sister.
No, a different tan, one that isn't you or your sister. Valha stroked Mith's neck as the tan started trembling with indecision.
Oh. OH. I...is it safe? Mith cast a look at Pan, tilting her head and nearly loosing her balance. Hati chirped at her scoldingly as the green was nearly dislodged from her perch on the little tan's shoulder.
If it isn't, we will protect you.
Oh. Um. Yes? Mith didn't sound too confident in her answer, but Valha was going with what she could get – and a yes! This was a big step!
Grinning uncontrollably, practically bouncing, Valha gave their answer, “We're willing to go meet...Demeth? What about you, Q'sis?”

Q'sis creased his lips and wrinkled his eyebrows at the demand to wait. He lingered, but made his irritation plain till he heard the name Demeth. Then his head rose slightly in recognition, face clearing its complaints. He nodded as Valha reissued the proposition.
"I would like that."
Unath held no special opinion about the encounter, but once she picked up from Q'sis that they were supposed to head back outside, she scampered over to Mith. Seizing her twin's tail in her jaws, she made for the barrack exit. After a few steps she reconsidered the small tail forks wagging out of her mouth, then circled back around and approached Mith's head.
This is my face, she said, watching Mith's large eyes and unremarkable hatchling nose. So...it goes first. She was still gripping the end of her lighter counterpart's tail, and started to turn around with it but found herself stopped short. Only then did she drop the burden. With her critical guidance delivered, she set off toward the exit in earnest, though Q'sis had not started moving that way yet.
Once outside she hopped more than walked, opening her small wings, dragging them on the ground and flapping them sporadically. This activity was sufficient to amuse her for a minute before she stopped and noticed her surroundings. Unath took a heavy seat on her haunches. You are lost, she informed Q'sis.
"She is not just 'a Tanrider too,'" Q'sis noted to Valha. "Her name is Pananarie." He had already scraped that much from the Weyr's roster, hence his recognition of Demeth as well. He glanced between the two women; Pananarie at least had some height to her, but they were both small. The trader tried not to dip his head too noticeably to look over each one, lest he be construed as rude-- ruder than usual. "We'll go out then." He waved a broad hand to beckon them after as he pivoted and headed back to the Bowl. Unath was still staring blankly off in any direction but behind her. When she detected the tap of his boot against the stone her head flicked back to spot him, then she turned around and sprang up against his legs.

The twins were too peculiar not to watch all the while, despite the fact that people were talking to Pananarie as her eyes were glued to the two young dragons. She never conceived the idea of twin dragons hatching from the same egg until it happened right before her eyes. It was an honor to have witnessed such a thing. Runners rarely had twins from her own experience. None of hers ever did. Her mother did claim however that one pregnant mare she cared for as a favor to one of the men at Frontier did birth twins, but she passed away in the process. The two babes were able to survive, fortunately, because one of her own mares still had nourishment to spare. It was a stressful experience from what Mam conveyed. When that man came back for his runner, he gave her a world of grief about it.
They seemed to operate on the same wavelength; Pan was some kind of jealous about it. But it was fun to watch it too. Artemis was slowly starting to come out of her own shell again, intrigued by the flitters and only mildly aware of the Tans playing down the hall. She didn't mess with dragons. Meanwhile Pananarie wondered what it was that went through their heads. Did they think the same thoughts? Did they share the same ideas? They obviously had different personalities; Mith came off as shy whereas Unath seemed pointedly fearless. Their antics, mostly Unath's, only proved to confirm her suspicions. Looking to Valha, she perked up instantly as their answers finally settled in.
"Sweet!" Then came Q'sis's answer--less enthusiastic, but at least the interest was there. Pan's smile diminished only slightly before she started making her way over. "Perfect! Demeth's going to love this! She's been dying to see all the little ones."
Though Q'sis was quick to correct his fellow Weyrling on Pan's behalf, or perhaps out of his own regard, the Senior Weyrling's smile all but disappeared at that point. This was one of the many reasons she didn't like having boys in the picture. They could be so disagreeable sometimes. But she had to remind herself that it was his dragon she had all the interest in. Demeth would have the same feelings about it too; she hardly looked over males--human or otherwise. Still, she had to be nice, even if it was just for a little while. As long as Valha didn't mind getting corrected, she wasn't going to involve herself in that exchange. Continuing to head towards them and towards the exit, she decided to both lead and accompany the two and their dragons out to where Demeth was sunning.
Her Tan was outside, waiting patiently by the lake for her rider to arrive with their young. She knew what was going on, despite her silence, and she was eager to meet the two younger Tans in her own way. She sat, relaxed, not moving a muscle. There was no need to rush these sorts of things, or anything in particular. She was going to get the opportunity to see them either way. These are the twins, aren't they? she asked, starting to recall the Hatching they came from.
Yup. Mith and Unath. They look just like each other, but completely different. You have to see it for yourself!
Artemis considered following the group outside carefully, but she decided to remain inside. It was about time for her daily lurk through the halls anyways.

When Unath caught Mith’s tail in her mouth, Mith had squealed quietly and turned to look to see what was going on, staring in complete confusion at her sister as she was turned around by her tail. She watched Unath leave, then looked towards her tail, then towards the door, then towards her tail again. Not sure, she chased her tail in a circle, if it could be called that with how slowly she attempted to get it, until Fenis flopped down on it to slow it enough for her to catch.
Hesitantly, she grabbed her own tail tip in her mouth (Fenis climbed onto her head from his previous position on her tail) and, escorted by the rest of the of squad of flits in a diamond formation around her, she tromped outside after sister, walking almost sideways to account for carrying her tail. Valha beamed – Mith going outside with little to no prompting meant today was a good day!
As she had learned to do when Q’sis said or did something that irritated her, Valha cheerfully ignored the comment about Pananarie’s name, acknowledging it only so far as to prove she was listening by using the new information. She bounced up to the elder Weyrling’s side, “Pananarie? May I call you Pan? Or do you prefer something else?”
Then she paused, easily spotting the bulk of the older tan by the lake, and giving Mith a mental nudge towards her. Mith looked back at her rider, but, with her guards around her still, she continued on willingly enough. In fact, she bumped straight into Demeth’s leg, much like Skol had plowed straight into Pan a few minutes earlier.
What is it? Mith asked, craning her head back so far she keeled over. Once on the ground, still looking up at the older, and much larger tan, Mith made a small mewling sound and started to tremble, It is very big, ValhaMine! Why is it so big?
Valha sighed and started jogging, knowing that she’d be needed by Mith momentarily.

Unath proved determined to entangle herself with Q'sis' legs. But the Tan was just as easy to disengage once he gave her the impression that she had to go meet the very largest of the trio. By then she had forgotten her re-discovery of her lifemate and was happy to abandon him and follow Mith over to Demeth. Unath watched Mith thunk into the bigger dragon's leg, then cleverly slithered sideways so she would not do the same. She charged forward and rammed into Demeth's other leg.
The dappled dragon fell back on her haunches, flapping her wings once for balance and huffing at the giant Tan obstacle. She might have assisted Mith if she had remembered her twin was quivering beside her. Q'sis watched Valha pursue the dragonets at a run, gave Pananarie a probing look and then followed at a walk. No longer the tallest person in the grouping, he was content to reduce the advantage even further; he sat down next to Unath, wrapping his arm over her presently small and bony shoulders. Unath shivered with delight, flapping her tail against the ground.
Yes? she asked Q'sis.
"What?" he answered, looking into Unath's large incandescent eye so no one else would mistake the subject of his word.
Oh, I don't know.
"Say hello to Demeth," Q'sis ordered, pointing at the big Tan. Unath stared squarely at Demeth's chest and forearms for a few seconds, then squinted up at the other dragon's head.
Hello, she murmured quickly, as if only the compulsion from her rider worked to get the greeting out. She slinked out from under Q'sis' arm, turned around in a dainty circle, then sprawled over her man's lap, legs splayed out carelessly left and right. She twisted her neck and rested her chin against his chest, blinking up at him.

Demeth watched the younger Tans emerge, remaining silent whilst looking them over. Her rider was absolutely right. They bore the exact same markings and colors, but their dominants were switched around. The lighter of the two struck her as the more cautious sibling, while the other was quirky at best. She reacted calmly to their approach, even so much as keeping her thoughts to herself after the lighter Tan bumped into her calf. An honest mistake. If Demeth were human, a warm smile would have crept into her gentle expression. As the darker one maneuvered around her sister, she was somewhat surprised by how Unath followed suit on the other side. The action perplexed the older Tan, but children being what they were, it was not taken as an offensive gesture.
Pananarie didn't notice any of Q'sis's stares throughout the short journey. She was very good at ignoring boys, especially the ones she didn't trust right off the bat. Only aware of where he was, she mainly kept her attention on Valha and the two young Tans that lead the party. They were so cute; she couldn't get over it! She missed it when Demeth was that small, even if her dragon wasn't nearly as playful as those two. Upon seeing her bonded lying by the lake, she stopped feeling envious altogether. How silly it was to wish for something different. Her's was perfect. It was always nice to play with other people's dragons, their babies, or their pets, but her own could never be traded for anything in the whole, wide world. She wouldn't even trade Artemis for another dragon! Or for mounds and mounds of money! Precious things should always be kept close to the heart. It was easy. At least it was for her.
"Oh! Call me Pan, please! I usually tell people that's my name anyhow," she said with a wink. "It's like Panananana--I swear, I get it all the time, so I'm definitely alright with plain-and-simple Pan." As she spoke, well animated, she started to calm again as she returned her attention to the twins. How funny they were! They were bumping into Demeth on both sides, while the older Tan looked them over as if they were her own children. It was quite endearing to watch.
They are both precious, she remarked, her tone soft and wrought with love. She looked to Mith with the gentlest blue in her eyes. You musn't worry, child. I mean you no harm. Then she turned to look upon Unath, her voice now touched with humor. Hello, Unath. You and your sister have been growing well. How precious you are. The both of you.
Demeth didn't even spare their riders a glance. She knew them. She knew one was a lively young woman like her own, and the other was one of the otherkind humans. How strange it was that Unath should pick such a thing. She was curious, but she wasn't rude. She did not ask. The young one had her reasons. Who was she to question destiny? As long as the otherkind did right by her, Demeth could learn to look to it with some form of respect. For Unath's sake alone.

When Valha reached Mith's side, she wasted no time in hoisting the trembling Mith off her back and back onto her feet as best she could. The little tan, while still little, was getting to be a touch heavy, so it was more of an effort to get the job done that Valha really liked. Upright, Mith managed to somehow get her nose and most of her head shoved under Valha's belt and up into her rider's tunic.
Sighing, the girl looked down the neck of her own shirt to see Mith's eyes whirling into blues and greens, I'm safe with my Valha! And then, in response to Demeth's gentle voice, she twisted and pulled Valha into a half crouch so she could peek out the neck of the tunic just below Valha's chin at the big thing that was talking to her, Big thing that doesn't want to hurt me is nice. What is the big thing that doesn't want to hurt me, Mine?
“She's a tan dragon, like you, Mith, only bigger because she is older. Her name is Demeth,” The blond unclasped her belt and started working at getting Mith to pull herself out – the little tan didn't want to stop watching through the neck hole or leave the safety of the inside of her rider's shirt, though, so it was a few moments of struggle before Valha just slid into Mith's mind and made her pull her head back.
In return, Mith accessed Valha's understanding of the large objects, and, for a moment, understood how all that bigness went together to make a dragon. She made a soft whistling sound and then, after waiting long enough for one of the flitts, little pink Skadi in the instance, to join her, she crept, belly low, towards Demeth's head at Valha's prompting, lifting her nose up towards Demeth's much larger face when she reached the front of the older dragon, telling her, in her smallest voice, Hello Demeth that doesn't want to hurt me. I think you are nice, and my Valha says I need to be nice to people who are nice to me. So...here I am, being nice.
Mith looked over towards her rider again, What else do you do when you are being nice, ValhaMine? Hati says biting.
“No biting. Don't listen to Hati, my love, biting is not nice.”

Q'sis observed the entanglement of Valha, Mith and Valha's shirt without surprise. The dragonet did weigh down the fabric terribly though, creating strain and stretch. When Mith pulled her rider down, Valha was facing Demeth, but Q'sis still had a reasonable view from his seat to her left. His lips parted slightly, then Mith's pale nose peeped out of the gap and blocked some of the sights. The Tanrider sniffed, and was about to look away when Valha began unlatching her belt. From that point he stared at the entirety of the struggle, till Mith suddenly dropped her head out of the shirt so smoothly it had to have been Valha's action rather than the dragon's own. So, the girl-- woman --could learn some of the necessary technique without his help. Or maybe she had taken a hint. Either way he smiled, surely only because of the reassurance the scene had impressed on him.
"Demeth is big for having hatched only a Turn before these two," he said, considering the dragon's size while she lay in graceful repose. He would have to find the supposedly-full-grown Tan, Naireth, and compare. Demeth was bigger than a Blue already. He ignored the spoken evidence that Valha's pet gits were still holding some control over Mith. Unath wriggled in his lap and Q'sis glanced down at her, stroking her smooth head and lightly ridged neck. His dark Tan shifted her jaws a few times, emitting soft, meaningless mrrhs. One of her small arms stuck out as far as it could, trying to stretch, then her back legs performed the same maneuver and her feet quivered under the muscle tension. Unath's eyes closed and her head dropped away from Q'sis' chest, though he caught it before it banged off the ground.
The dragonet laid sideways, half on Q'sis lap and half on the stone, dead asleep. She was still as the stage where her rider lingered by her couch till she fell asleep at night, so any prolonged contact with him generally triggered a spontaneous nap. Q'sis appeared unconcerned, and rubbed the backs of her loosely closed wings. "Well, they've met," he muttered with some humor. None of the Tans would remember each other within a few minutes. Or perhaps Demeth was a little smarter for being older. She had certainly spoken to Unath in what he could only judge as a refined voice. She conveyed an awareness of time, relationships, and language all in a few short sentences. That was more than could be said for Unath and Mith combined.
He motioned to Valha to sit down next to him, no longer tolerating her standing while he was so encumbered. This way the two of them could face Pananarie and her Demeth, and the conversation's circle would achieve a certain balance. No trader went into negotiations where one man sat and the another towered over him. Demeth could be forgiven, but the human women could not. He looked to Pan. "What was Demeth like as a hatchling?" he asked innocently. "Aside from hungry and sleepy. Was she ever nervous?"
