Darcy's anticipation only lasted as long as it took for the egg to hatch, which wasn't very long at all. Mouth hanging open the candidate watched as the green hide of the female emerged from the two perfect halves of her shells, her small body positioned in a way that said she was rather proud of her entrance into the world. In that moment being in charge of a firelizard seemed the most amazing thing ever! The green had the most interesting coloring and the curious way in which she examined the room assured Darcy that all was well ... but then the firelizard opened her mouth and the most obnoxious sound left the tuxedo patterned female.
Stuck in the small room as they where only made the sound louder, and Darcy was sure that the firelizard could rival a dragon's vocal abilities. Clenching her teeth and grumbling lightly at her poor luck Darcy shoved a slice of meat into the greens mouth. Instantly the sound stopped as the hatchling swallowed the offering quickly, soft chirping sounds leaving her as she moved closer toward Darcy her eyes begging for more food ... and who was Darcy to hold back on the food, after all it certainly stopped the little female from giving her a headache. Sighing slowly Darcy offered another slice of meat to the firelizard, her lips quirking as she realized that she still needed to name the green.
"I can already tell that you will be a pain Discord" Her soft comment was barely a whisper as she talked, after all she didn't want to make any more noise after what happened with Discord. The firelizard stopped eating long enough to register what the human had named her, then curled around Darcy's arm so that she could sneakily pull meat slips off the plate the candidate was holding ... something that quickly drew Darcy's attention.
Seems she was going to have her hands full with Discord.

Valha scooped up both Hati and the little green in one go, quickly retreating to she and Nara's beds in order to make sure the last rocking egg Impressed to to her friend. “Sorry, Nara. I wasn't expecting this!” * * *
In C'dog's weyr, a tiny egg was rocking violently. A series of thumps echoes from the inside, as if its resident was beating themselves senseless in an attempt to escape. Finally, after a few more minutes of this, a tiny bright green leg burst from the egg. The leg was quickly followed by the rest of the green flit and she forced herself out of the egg. How dare it try and contain her! She tunred on it, smashing it and scattering the pieces far and wide, eyes whirling a vicious, angry red and shrilly shrieking her rage. She didn't notice the way one fragment of egg stuck to her spotted hindquarters though... Once the egg was thoroughly destroyed, she calmed almost immediately. She would not tolerate things that insulted her in such a way! No one was allowed to give her insult! She bit moodily at a nearby piece of shell, and then spread her wings to let the egg fluid on them dry. As she waited, she surveyed the room she was in, discarding most things as irrelevant, except for one. There was a big moving thing, and it was now Hers. She owned it now. She leaped at it, gripping it and hissing loudly. This was Hers! No insult to her or Hers allowed! And why wasn't her thing feeding her? 5dfc23* * * Unnoticed, one of Amisi's eggs was Hatching too. It rocked violently a few times, and then, with a sharp crack, stilled. Oddly, no further motion disturbed it; only the flicker of a tiny black tail disappearing into the shadows revealed that its prior occupant had snuck out a hole in the back. He was a dark grayish color, not true black only because of the dullness of his hide, except for large spots which gleamed a true, shocking black mottling him in a random pattern. He never hesitated, knowing exactly where he was going, unseen unless looked for. Silent, chill, he had only one goal. Protect His. His claws caught lightly in clothing, and he was coiling around a young girl's shoulder seconds later, eyes whirling a calm blue. No harm would ever come to the one he guarded, not before his life was long since forfeit. Though a little food would be able to improve his efficiency, if His pleased. 0c0c0c (And yes, he's supposed to be a ninja. Or Batman. XD )

In the creche, things were quiet for once, except for a soft tapping. Amisi's fire lizard egg was hatching!
The baby inside, however, seemed to want to take it's time. The egg did not rock. It did not shatter open, or even crack. There was just a soft tapping coming from the inside. Seconds passed, and then turned and stretched into minutes, which became hours. Still, nothing but a quiet tap-tap, tap-tap happened. The egg was taking it's good old sweet time.
Finally, after a good two and a half hours, a tiny crack appeared in the egg, and an itty-bitty snout appeared as a piece of shell flaked off. The muzzle was black, and the little flitter retreated inside his shell again until the tapping began again. This time, more of the shell flaked off, until the entire front half of the lizard was standing in Amisi's tiny little hands.
The little flit tried to move forward, but his back half was still caught in the egg. Pulling, he only managed to drag the egg with him, until finally he reached the edge of the girl's hands and fell lightly into Amisi's lap. The eggshell broke, and the little flitter was free, but all he could do was sit and keen in hurt and hunger.

In Jerrith's room, there was a completely different story happening. There was no warning at all that the egg was hatching. One minute it was still as stone, and then--
BAM!
The egg literally exploded as a pink firelizard leaped free. Standing proudly on Jerrith's bed, she creeled, preening herself. Wasn't she the most beautiful of fire lizards?! Opening her wings to dry, she looked around, and spotted a large thing moving towards her.
It was hers! It must adore her! ...and feed her! She was hungry!

In fact, Cleo’s egg did hatch without her, even before Pond had went to receive Hers. The brown egg tipped and turned about, not quite making any sudden movements… or so it seemed. The creature inside was quickly working away at the shell, making a tiny hole in the back. The hole, once discovered by the life inside, was quickly worked away at until it was large enough to worm out of. And there it sat, until just the right time. When the healer stepped into the room, the baby decided to make itself known. Well, herself. The little Green leaped from behind her hiding place and smashed it to bits under her paws. The majority of her body was a soft green that faded to a lighter shade on her long wings and rear legs. Jagged lines that could possibly be mistaken for scars adorned her muzzle and front legs, and a small marking dotted her right flank. She held herself low to the ground, her eyes whirling with mischief. The Brown looked like an easy target, but nooooooo, she already had a plan in store for this big pink… thing. With a squeal of maniacal delight, she lunged at the shred of meat held in the big pink thing’s grabby-thing. She was not the sharpest crayon in the box now, but she was a quick learner, especially in the ways of wreaking havoc. She was going to be a handful for Cleo, to say the least. Cleo's Flitter

The egg was still for so long, once Jerrith sat down to watch it, that he was starting to wonder if he'd been mistaken. Had the noise been something else all along? Or... or had something gone wrong? Had the fragile little life inside the egg worn itself out in its own effortt to hatch?
The possibility made him sick to his stomach... but Magpie was still crooning from his shoulder, eyes whirling with excitement. He thought everything was still well, and he might well be more in tune with the hatching firelizard than any human could.
And then, so suddenly Jerrith lurched back and had to swallow a startled cry, the egg shattered. A flurry of motion brought a pink blur from the hearth up to the top bunk, and there she perched, as though she'd known all along what space was Jerrith's.
"Shh, shh," Jerrith urged, hustling after her with his arm extended, offering the first piece of meatroll. The less he could disturb his roommate with this hatching, the better. "Here's food, pretty one. Come with me and you'll have more food, better food, all you can eat." He formed an image in his mind - raw meat, still steaming, just butchered.
He'd been helping out in the kitchen often enough, by this point, that he didn't even have to work to suppress a momentary surge of revulsion; he just willed it away, leaving the image untainted. Food. From his shoulder, Magpie picked up the thought and chirped in agreement. Food!
The little pink stared up at him, eyes whirling with hunger; with a squawk, she accepted the first offering as her due. It wasn't what someone as beautiful as her deserved, but she was so hungry that it'd have to do for now. At least Hers saw how pretty she was, and was promising better food.
Gently, Jerrith moved the still-eating pink into the crook of his arm, bearing her toward the kitchens. Now that she was safely Hatched and Impressed, he could be sure to get the little pink a proper meal.
He'd have to think of a name for her, of course. Something fitting - not that he'd ever thought Magpie ugly, far from, but that vibrant, unspoilt pink just grabbed the eye in a way that black didn't. And she knew she was pretty, too. Confident, and if she was a little vain, well, that wasn't so horrible...
Names could wait, though. For now: food. He bore her toward the kitchens, popping another piece of meatroll into her mouth each time it opened to tide her over. No doubt there'd be plenty of others seeking the same thing this morning, so it shouldn't be too hard to find some fresh meat for her.

H'cup waited with bated breath as the egg continued its regular tap-tapping. He started to grin as cracks formed, then glanced behind him as he felt more than heard a gentle humming. Tuthleth's eyes whirled at him as the humming abruptly stopped. H'cup's grin widened as he turned away from Tuthleth and the humming restarted. Whatever Tuthleth might say, the black was eager to meet their little friend as well. "Come on, little one," he coaxed softly.
Two legs burst through. A yellow! His egg was hiding a yellow! He reached for a scrap of meat, preparing for the rest of the firelizard to emerge, only to have the legs retreat back into the safety of the shell. He could hear the flitter creeling, but he had about as much of a chance of feeding it while it was still in the egg as Tuthleth did. Suddenly, the egg cracked completely away, and H'cup had to revise his earlier assessment of his flitter's color. Not yellow, orange. And a lovely orange she was, as well, if apparently somewhat preoccupied with her feet and toes.
"This'll taste better than your toes," he assured her, holding out the scrap of meat.
She considered it suspiciously, sniffing it. What if it was a trick to steal her feet? She sent that idea to the big thing offering it to her, and it made a sound that made her curl even tighter around her feet, until the emotion connected to it leaked through the new bond. Laughter.
"I have my own feet," H'cup told his baby orange, changing his position to show her his bare feet. She uncurled and ventured closer, sniffing at them and then sneezing before accepting the meat he was still holding out to her. She clambered up his leg, claws digging in a bit more than was comfortable until she settled neatly in his lap, feet tucked neatly and safely underneath her while she opened her mouth for the next piece. Hers would do, though his feet weren't nearly as perfect as hers.

H’to’s egg rocked in time with the others. For a while it fidgeted quietly, pausing every now and then only to wiggle and jump again, as if waiting for something. After a while of this, however, it finally moved in earnest, though still with a somewhat polite edge. When it finally cracked it was with a clean split in the middle, separating top from bottom. A pause, and then a dark Brown head pushed off the top of the shell and peered out at the creatures assembled around him. The sight brought a happy hum to his little chest and he was pleased even further by the sound, tickled by the vibrations that it produced. He was an easily pleased, earnest little thing, but it wasn’t long before he got himself back on track. He would have more time to play later, and besides, he was hungry!
Leaping out of his shell with limited grace, he flapped his drying wings and stretched, neck to tail; It was good to be free. The Brown’s hide was dark, like a tree trunk after the rain, but the area around his eyes and the very tip of his muzzle sported hints of bronze. He was long, but about the average size for his color. Letting his eyes sweep over his audience, their colors accentuated by the splash of bronze around them, he seemed to examine each. Perceptive even for a hatchling, he could sense that they were different, but after a moments consideration he decided that he liked them- the scaly ones and the fleshy one alike.
He trilled out to his new playmates, Dia and Amour, and then hopped over to the edge of the fireplace. Situating himself in front of H’to, he looked up at him with eyes suddenly bursting with color. He sent him waves of hunger and love as he gazed up at His, ready to be scooped up and fed. He wasn’t high maintenance, but he did like attention- he already wanted to be near His. It wasn’t jealousy or over-protectiveness that engendered those feelings, but rather ones of fraternity. It was clear that he would get on quite easily with his new family, and though he was the youngest, look out for them all. He was responsible and reasonable, but loving and kind. He would fit in well.

H’to’s grin widened as the egg began to crack. Dia let out a scream and danced around the egg, excited. Amour took her place on the shoulders of Hers as she watched the egg, slightly nervous and wondering what would come from the shell. Her small pink body shook slightly, eagerness taking control of her. Dia had no control, and kept yelling, dancing, and attacking the furs on the bed in her wild emotions. Then the egg split and a dark head popped up. Dia crooned wildly, her eyes flashing brilliant colors, that only grew brighter as the youngster made his way out of the shell of his egg. Amour and H’to were in awe at the sight of the dark brown flit. The lighter bronze around his eyes and on his nose gave him a slightly regal look, and made H’to’s breath catch in his chest.
Then, the young male began to hum, and looked up at him with colorful eyes. H’to chuckled to himself and picked the small hatchling up and handed him meat. The young brown warbled happily as large warm hands scooped him up then deposited sweet meat into his maw. Yes, he liked this fleshy things! The fleshy thing was His! And the girls? Well, as he looked at Dia, who was still singing happily, then Amour, who was unsure of him, he decided that they were His too! They were his girls, and His Fleshy, and no one else had claim on them! Crooning happily, the brown took more meat from His, and inspected the room as he did so.
H’to kept his blue eyes on the brown, a huge grin plastered on his face. He hummed slightly to the flit, just as he had with Dia and Amour when they hatched, and kept the food flowing to his young and small maw. ”What shall we call you, little fella?” He asked softly. His voice mad the brown look up at him and croon. His body shivered as he realized that His was looking at him, and he became excited again. H’to couldn’t help but laugh softly. ”Lolovivi. That will be your name. Lolo for short, how ‘bout that?” He spoke softly. He looked at Dia, then Amour. ”What do you two think? Lolovivi?” As if agreeing, Dia warbled again and fluttered to the other shoulder of Hers, and twined her tail reassuringly with Amour’s. Amour crooned slightly, her eyes dancing with unsure colors, but slowly, she was becoming more excited. He WAS sort of cute.
Lolovivi, finally satisfied, wiggled up H’to’s shoulder towards Dia to greet her. Their noses touched lightly, and Dia began to sing louder. Lolo hummed as he slid back lower into the arms of His, then looked at Amour. He then moved closer to Her, trying to touch noses with her, but she only moved higher up onto H’to’s head, watching Lolo with whirling eyes. Lolo crooned sadly for a moment, but was soon focused on His again.

E'rin's wide eyes watched every movement the egg made. When the little lizard inside finally crawled out, he gasped and caught his breath. She was a tiny thing and E'rin was immediately infatuated. She seemed incredibly cautious, and he was afraid to make any movement towards her, lest he scare her back into her shell. She was so pretty... like a little green, quiet Jarith. Carefully, the boy waited, and so did his white dragon behind him.
Then, the little green opened her mouth. E'rin's face lit up and, smiling, he held meat out to the firelizard. The green was slow about it, sniffing it before moving in. She was hungry, but not hungry enough to just jump in. After all, it could be a trap. It could be poison. The big pink thing was smiling, though, and that looked nice. He looked nice, and he was Hers. Daintily, she nibbled on the meat, and then swallowed it whole.
Levi watched from his spot up on the shelf. He wasn't sure of the green, but that was fine. He didn't need to associate with her. Rats snorted at the brown firelizard, and then went about sniffing at the green. She smelled good and new. Mitzi and Merps, sensing their bonded's happiness, flipped around in their buckets, sloshing water everywhere. Jarith, however, was by far the most enthusiastic of the bunch. She trilled loudly and flared her sparkling wings. Little sister! Little sister! Little cute! CUTE CUTE CUTE SISTER. She poked her nose over E'rin's shoulder to inspect the striped flit on the boy's lap. Hellooooo! Oh, E'rinLove, so cute!
E'rin smiled and laughed. "She IS cute!" Feeding the green a little more, he made thinking noises. "Hmmm... Lookit you. You look like a Lana. Welcome to the fam, Lana!" Quietly, Lana looked up at Hers. Her eyes whirled a happy colour. She had a family - that was nice.
---
Cleo just about had a heart attack. As soon as she walked in, she was attacked by a tiny green object that snapped up and swallowed the meat right away. Andry seemed mildly perturbed; he tensed up, but didn't bother to move. Moving was too much work. He couldn't say that he liked the baby's energy, though. If his past said anything, though, he would eventually warm up to her, like he had warmed up to Pond. Speaking of which, the murky green firelizard had come to land beside the brown, whistling excitedly. She liked the baby! She was crazy! That was fun!
The new green clambered up Cleo's arm and onto her shoulder, her little claws poking the healer's skin. Cleo was stuck between laughing and being shocked into silence. When the hatchling started tugging at her hair, though, she had to act. Cleo pulled the green out, yelping in pain, and then looked at her. The green struggled and squeaked. Let me go, she wanted to say. I have trouble to make!
"Shush, Squeak," Cleo said, the name popping out of nowhere. "There isn't food in my hair, silly!" She let Squeak go and the critter zipped back up to play with her hair. Cleo found more food and Squeak was distracted, but only momentarily. The healer caught Andry's eyes, and they were thinking the same thing. This was going to be a handful of a green.
Pond, oblivious, whistled loudly. [/blockquote]

In G'len's room, too, there was a stirring in the tiny egg that he possessed. Instead of slowly rocking it started shaking violently right from the start. Scratching noises came from the interior as if the tiny creature inside was trying violently to make its way out. Then, quite suddenly, there was a huge jolt of action inside the egg and a large crack ran down the middle. After followed a silence. It was almost as if the egg wouldn't crack at all. A stillness took over the room. However, it didn't last for long.
One more great push and a tiny, wet flit tumbled out of the egg. She blinked up at the sky, shaking her wings to rid them of the fluids from her egg. Only a breath and then she was off like a flash. Like a tiny rodent she scampered about the room, rummaging through laundry here, weaving around bedposts there, and finally she scrambled up onto the bed and burrowed herself beneath the sheets. Once again there was a stillness, even as she slowly crept through the tunnels made by the sheets until one tiny pink head was poking through.
Finally seeing her person, she leaped up and wrapped herself around his arm, cooing and chittering about how he should have been closer for her to find and why did he let her run around like that when she was only looking for him, he could have let her know he was here thank you very much! However, she was not quite complacent, and tiny claws clasped G'len's shirt as she clambered her way up to him to get a better look at his face. Oooo! She cooed, quite sure now that he was her man. Now that she was standing still, it was easier to get a look at her. She was a thin and slender thing, built long and stretched like a whip. Her coloration mainly comprised of pastel pinks, although there were darker, almost brown-ish pink patches on her legs, tail, and face. This same color was splotched about her fragile wings, currently stretched out as she balanced herself as she gripped his shirt. However, her grip was slipping, and she was slowly sliding. Gaping up at G'len, she gave a sharp little yelp.

The last of the eggs in Naraevhyn and Valha’s room, after considerable shaking and rocking about, came apart at last. A small hole appeared right at the very top, and a tiny, light-colored nose quickly shoved its way through. Forcing its way up and out of the quickly crumbling prison, the hatchling inside was finally free to tumble out and into the world – less than graceful, but certainly happy for the newfound freedom. He was fairly pale in color, but unmistakably a blue; faint, cloud-like teal markings spread subtly across his torso and up along his wings, but aside from that slight variation there was nothing to mar or disrupt the smooth, sky-blue of his hide. He was rather on the small side for one of his color, but even newly-hatched he was all smooth and graceful lines – well-proportioned and sleek, clearly destined to be a graceful, elegant flier. But for now, weak and grimy with egg-goop and absolutely starving, it was all he could to struggle to his feet and take stock of his surroundings.
He took a moment to sort out his wings, which had fouled with one another in the interim, and so he didn’t realize right away that he had an audience. Once he’d spied the two humans, however, and his clutchmates that had hatched before him, he seemed to shrink in on himself; he was a touch shy, clearly, but he didn’t seem to be frightened or skittish; just cautious, perhaps. But in spite of his bashfulness, he was already observing his surroundings with a doting, paternal eye. His brother and sister were being fed and well taken care of, it seemed, which was of utmost importance as far as he was concerned. That being said, he reluctantly acknowledged that he ought to see to his own needs. That human there still had quite a bit of food, and there wasn’t such a crowd around her anyway. She looked lovely! Stretching out once more, he moved in slow, even paces towards Naraevhyn – it wouldn’t do to trip on his way there, now would it?

****** D’ix’s egg all but shattered as the creature inside kicked and fought its way out; it wouldn’t stand for being cooped up one second longer, thank you very much, and as the shell swiftly broke apart around him he all but charged out and into the world. He was on the larger side for a blue, healthy and sturdy, and though it took quite a lot of effort to keep from falling, he succeeded in staying upright. Wobbling faintly on untested legs, he took a few shaky steps forward and trilled happily to himself, evidently fairly proud of his accomplishments thus far. He was rich, deep cobalt in color, his only markings a smattering of indigo spots along his lower back and haunches, and though he was young he already boasted a compact, solid frame.
He didn’t immediately go scrambling for food; he was too laid-back a creature to get himself all worked up, especially when his sense of smell was telling him that there was something tasty in the vicinity. Instead, he cast about and examined his surroundings, tilting his head back to stare boldly up at D’ix and Wormtail when he noticed he had an audience. Though he seemed a bit surprised, at first, he didn’t appear to be intimidated by the figure hovering over him; he was confident and self-assured by nature, and he had quite a lot of spunk to boot. He let a beat of silence pass before letting loose a loud, abrupt squawk – almost a bark – by way of greeting. Still swaying slightly, he nevertheless trotted swiftly over to him, keen on getting at the food the boy was offering. It smelled delicious!

****** In Tasia’s room, the lone egg rocked away with quiet persistence as the creature inside doggedly worked to free itself. Though it took some time, it eventually split neatly down the center and spilled a fairly large firelizard onto the sand. As he struggled to right himself, getting thoroughly coated in the fine grains in the process, he realized despondently that this place he found himself in was scarcely better than the egg he’d just broken out of! It was so small – the ceramic walls were encroaching on his space, and it appeared that the only way out was up. Determined and eager to escape, he stretched up on his hind legs and reached in vain for the lip of the pot, and then began creeling shrilly when he found it was just out of his grasp. He was quite the curious creature, and at present there was nothing around him worthy of devoting any attention to – what a distressing development! Though he would later prove to have a very sweet, gentle disposition, he was currently quite unhappy to be stuck, not to mention so, so hungry. Wasn’t there anyone out there who could come and rescue him?
Though it was difficult to tell underneath all the sand, the potted firelizard was in fact a pale, grayish purple. Though there were brighter, lavender stripes brightening his chest and front legs, he was predominantly a fairly nondescript, pastel shade. An average size, for one of his color, he was overall quite well-proportioned, and he’d been quick to shake off any hatching clumsiness. Now if only his cries would wake up the human fast asleep but a few feet away, he’d be all set.
(#CC99CC)
****** Predictably, Zeuth had been less than pleased to discover that his rider had absconded with two – two! – firelizard eggs from the latest clutch that had been brought to the Weyr. He simply couldn’t leave his ridiculous rider unattended for a single moment – horrible, dreadful things such as these were the inevitable result. G’len, however, had been positively tickled pink when that delightful Fahra and her nephew had slipped him the pair of eggs, and he’d been determined ever since to absolutely ignore anything and everything the bronze had to say about them. He’d doted and fretted over the things with more diligence than he typically afforded anything save for his tricks and ‘mind reading’ – but, shardit, this wasn’t at all like when Eulo’s clutch had hatched. These two, tiny little eggs were entirely his responsibility, and if he were honest with himself he was absolutely, genuinely terrified that he’d somehow screw it up and the poor ‘lizards within would never see the light of day. Zeuth merely scoffed at his worrying, and more than once had sarcastically called him ‘mom’ – and yet, sensing his rider’s trepidation, he’d nevertheless eased up on his criticism, even going so far as to grudgingly offer his assistance from time to time.
And so it was that the bronze weyrling was the first to notice the pair of eggs begin to tremble on the day in question, and he dutifully alerted his rider – he might not have been the biggest fan of the creatures (though his animosity was often greatly exaggerated, as it served to give him yet another thing to bicker with his rider about), but he was nevertheless aware of how excited His had been to be able to snag the eggs in the first place, and at the end of the day he’d never have sabotaged him. At least, not in an important matter such as this.
These… things are beginning to move around, G’lenMine. I suppose you ought to come and see. And G’len did, indeed, make his way back to the room with all appropriate haste; all annoyance with Zeuth was forgotten as he moved the eggs and set them gently on the furs atop his bed. “Kimble!” His voice was a live wire, electric with excitement, and the black firelizard dutifully blinked in from between at the summons, “Quick, fetch us some food! You’re about to have some backup, my friend – let’s see Zeuth try to pick on you once you’ve made friends with these.” He gestured excitedly to the furiously rocking eggs, and he heard Zeuth snort disdainfully behind him as Kimble obediently raced off. All of his attention, though, was fixed on the eggs, and a moment later the smaller one split open and suddenly stilled.
The abrupt lack of movement had him worried, for a split second, for the creature inside, but another moment passed and a little pink figure was suddenly darting all across his room, almost faster than he could keep track of it. “Hey-” Rising to his feet, he spun around and saw that – for all he liked to carry on – Zeuth had moved immediately to block the door and prevent the little pink from getting lost out in the hallway. And then, just as suddenly as she’d been up and careening about, the slender, whip-like hatchling had launched herself at him and clambered up his arm, little claws grasping tenaciously at his clothes as she climbed up his chest. He grinned with abandon when she cooed happily at him – shells, she was cute! – and then reached up to catch her when she began slipping down his shirt. “Why hello there!”He greeted her quietly, not wanting to startle her (though he doubted he could have, had he tried), and a moment later Kimble popped back in, clutching a little back of meat morsels – G’len had no idea where he’d found it, though he suspected some thoughtful kitchen worker might have prepared it. After all, the eggs would have all started hatching at once, right? Even now, word would be getting around the Weyr. Quickly accepting the bag from the black, he let Kimble settle contentedly on one shoulder as he offered a morsel up to the pink; he directed his question to the black: “Well, what do you think? Looks like a pretty good cohort to me – now all we need is a name for her.”

Naraevhyn flashed Valha a weak smile as she retreated with her trio, then focused on her egg. She knew it would hatch eventually, it was rocking too much to be a dud. She didn't know if she should help the flitter out of there or not! Finally, though, the wee creature poked its - no, his - head out of the egg. The Harper-born girl's face lit up as she saw the blue.
Quietly, she waited until the pastel little guy came up to her. She held a piece of meat out to him, smiling as he sniffed it cautiously. Well, it was certainly food, so he gently grasped it with both foreclaws to take it from her, and devoured it quickly. He realized he was quite hungry, thank you very much, and that he wanted more. Naraevhyn was more than happy to feed the little blue. It took a bit, but she coaxed him onto her arm, smiling warmly at him. The little blue decided this person was in fact His and wrapped his tail around her wrist possessively. He loved her and he was going to watch over her.
"Hmm, what to name you," Nara said, giving the blue a good rubdown, noting the cloudlike markings of his hide. He cheeped at her and spread his wings, and she obligingly picked some of the dried egg goop off his wings for him. "Madol, maybe?" The blue perked his head up. Madol? Hmph. He didn't like that name. He curled up on Nara's lap and eyed her, sleepy now that his belly was full. "Ranulf, then? Picky man. Has to be just so, hmm?" Nara asked teasingly. The blue chirped at her in reply, causing her to giggle. He liked Ranulf. That suited him. "Ranulf it is. Ranulf the Blue, I love you," she sang. Ranulf poked his head up and trilled at her, excitement colouring his eyes. His could make pretty sounds! He knew he was right to find her! He realized he'd just made sound of his own and tucked his head under a wing shyly.
"Oh come out of there, Ranulf. You sound lovely." Nara gently stroked her flitter's back, then grinned at Valha. "Thank you ever so much, Valha. I love him. He is beautiful." Ranulf cheeped. His was beautiful too, yes. He decided she needed to know that. Naraevhyn giggled at the feelings from her flitter. "Ranulf reminds me a bit of Father. He wants to watch me and protect me, and he thinks I am pretty."

The egg shells were finally giving way, and D'ix leaned in with anticipation once the slightest gleam of blue shone through. A Blue? Not bad. At least it wasn't another Black. He also had to admit that he was relieved it didn't hatch a female. This flitter was already making its promises that it would be nothing like his current pair of minions.
He had a lot of fight in him, which was clearly admirable to the Cyanrider. After all, that made them like of mind, didn't it? But the Blue was not as fierce as he was, and D'ix was not sure how he felt about that. Did he want something that mirrored his own attitude completely? No. Then it would be harder to take control--D'ix always fought his superiors tooth and nail. He did not need a firelizard who would do the very same. The creature did appear to be far more civilized than his master, if he would ever acknowledge the Cyanrider as such. The Blue took his first few steps, concentrating on keeping himself upright, before he gave a trill for his own success. Wormtail eyed his little nephew and ducked low, trying not to get his attention. The young flit cast the Black a slight glance before losing interest in him. He obviously wasn't the one in charge, nor did he look like he was anything special. The giant that stood over him however was a different entity altogether. Fearless staring up at the human, the Blue gave a squawk. A strong 'hello', with no reservations. He wasn't afraid of D'ix. Why should he be? The smell of meat was so intoxicating that he couldn't resist its appeal for long. He trotted over to him, leaping off the hearth swiftly and landing safely on the ground with a sloppy yet efficient glide, and began to pick his way up the human by scaling the dragonrider's leg.
D'ix bent over and picked him up, offering a piece of meat to him. The Blue took it and devoured it without a complaint. It wasn't bad, though it was seasoned with something he found a little spicy. He gave a cough before opening his mouth for more. After a second bite, he seemed to be pleased.
"Well...so far...so good." It was hard for him to admit that he was satisfied. Most of the time, he simply wasn't. He eyed the flitter, who was now seated on his palm and wrapping his tail around the Cyanrider's wrist, looking up at the human expectantly. "I guess I should name you," D'ix concluded in a mumble.
He hadn't thought much about names. Even Wormtail was practically named on the spot. But the Blue didn't have any defining features that stuck out to him, and he wasn't nearly pathetic enough to name him something so crude. The Blue deserved a name that had to mirror his superior personality. D'ix found the creature to be loyal, fearless, and most importantly--not obnoxious. This was a bold little flit that he could wear proudly. He decided to name him with his family suffix, and therefore, settled on the somewhat fitting name of 'Drix'.
"Drix. That's your name. I'm D'ix, and you're Drix. This--" he motioned to his Black. "is Wormtail. And you'll see enough of Ressouth to drive you mad in due time."
The flitter appeared to be listening, but during the introductions he gave a hearty yawn. Boy, he was tired. All that struggle did take a lot of out him. Drix squirmed on his human's palm and curled up, expressing his weariness. D'ix only stared at him for a few seconds until he finally got the message. He took the Blue to his bed and set him down on the pillow, where Drix snugged in and fell fast asleep. Wormtail settled down beside his nephew but was reluctant to get too close.
It was a strange way to start or end the day. D'ix already lost track of time and wondered if he was supposed to be just waking up or going to sleep. Ressouth, who was perched on the ledge just outside, slid back in to eye the newest addition to the family with distaste. Hmph. Well, it could have been worse. I hope it pleases Mine. D'ix didn't answer, so the Cyan simply retreated to her ledge again to brood over this.

Tasia was never really a heavy sleeper, but today was a bit different. She should have awoken to the skwaks heard in other rooms. The sounds of flitters crying out for their first meal, but she did not. It wasn't until shrill creel sounded that she stirred a bit. “Tanic... shut it..” She groaned, pulling a fur over her face. But 'Tanic' did not. It wasn't until she reached out to whap her twin brother and hit her hand on the edge of her bed that she notice she was no longer in the Tillek. No, of course she wasn't. She hadn't been in ages. Hand lifted to wipe sleep sand from her eyes, the young woman glancing about groggily. If Tanic wasn't there making annoying sounds, then who was?
It wasn't until she looked to the slightly rocking jar that it hit her. Leaping up, she stumbled out of bed only to land face first on the floor. Rubbing her aching nose, and trailing furs behind her, she finally made her way to where the jar was. Meat! She needed meat! She was ready to sprint down to the kitchen in her skivvies until she noticed a small bowl of meat. She didn't bother thinking about who could have placed it in her room, there was a flitter to impress! Cautiously, she tipped the jar over.
What was happening? His current 'Home' was moving? Creel rose to meet a new level of shrill as he backed up against the sands. The exit was not at the side, and there was light! Carefully, she walked over the sands and popped his head out. This place was filled with light and color! So many things to look at. There was so much he wanted to explore. Eyes focused on something and fleshy colored with lots of red around it. What was this thing? Delicately, the firelizard slipped to the ground on steady legs.
What was this thing that looked at him and cooed? What was it reaching for? Crawling forward, he nosed her leg curiously, leaving a bit of sand on her when he did. Suddenly there was something delicious! Oh so delicious. Meat dangled from the flesh-beast's hands offering it to him. Eagerly he reached up and gobbled up the little piece. Eyes whirling in rainbow colors as love and delight as he gazed at this thing that was now his.
Rare laugh was heard when he gobbled up the piece of meat. The sudden connection startled Tasia a bit, but she loved it. She would never admit it, but she had never felt as loved as she did now. Carefully, she reached down as he ate and dusted the sand from him. All to get a better look at the flitter. “You look like a Regal little fellow... I'm going to call you.. Prince Urchin Dolphin Swordfish of Tillek... Prince for short.” She chuckled a bit. Tasia was weird, and would rarely ever use his full name, but she loved it. Holding out her hand, she watched as Prince settled into her palm and lifted up another piece of meat for the flitter.

I am still living with your ghost, Lonely and dreaming of the west coast, I don't want to be your downtime, I don't want to be your stupid game.
While G'len was busy taking care of the latest addition to his growing fair, his other egg had begun to rock back and forth at a steady rate. With great difficulty, the creature within the confines of the egg managed to breaks its prison in that manner, not making too much use of claw or tooth. It didn't have much space in its tiny home. It was a rather homely space, it supposed, this eggs of its, but it really did wish to be able to moves its wings. His wings, actually, as one shot through the shell, though one could not immediately tell to which gender the young flitter belonged. He struggled free of his egg in the wake of his wing, creeling pitifully as it cut into his delicate hide. Each bit of him that came free revealed more of it until he was finally fully liberated. He was a fine yellow, skinny but large, with the palest hide, the faintest of greens on the tips of his wings.
Having freed himself of his egg, his rather pathetic life mission for the time being, the yellow simply sat where he had come out and looked up at G'len. He didn't do anything. Was he supposed to do something of some sort? He didn't wish to shatter expectations or anything so soon, but he couldn't do anything! He just couldn't! He had wanted to hatch and he loved this world so very much, but if he did anything else, he might hurt it and he absolutely couldn't bring himself to do that! He would just sit there. He was quite comfortable where he was. Despite that, he cried out to G'len. He hated making such a sound. What if it hurt someone? However, the little pacifist was hungry and could not keep that bottled up. He took up so much space! He couldn't help it and he was so hungry! Needless to say, the yellow wasn't going to much of a hunter when he grew up.
I do believe I'll find myself a new place, I don't want to be the bad guy, I don't want to do your sleepwalk dance anymore, I just want to see some palm trees.

((Sorry these are SO SHARDING LATE! And I will edit in Amisi's Impressions later.... gotta say, both her blacks are AMAZING. Hah, Chek, the G*dd*mn Batman, freaking awesome, and the hereterfore "Tiny" getting stuck in his shell is soo cute, Derek, I just wanna cuddle him to death.))
It seemed as if the little egg Camea had claimed couldn't wait to be out there exploring the world - and that would be completely correct. The little bit of a thing inside was just wanting to be out and about and see and talk to people. I mean, c'mon, they're people, and dragons and whers and everyone is just awesome and fun to be with! Let's be friends, why shouldn't we be friends, friends are awesome, yup! The little pink made her opinion abundantly clear the minute she broke her shell with an explosion of shell-shards, the cream-and-green shell never able to be put back together, even if Camea may wish to stuff the bubbly pink back in it.
An overlarge head cocked to the side as a torrent of chirps and squeaks issued forth from her maw, sitting in the confetti-like wreckage of her shell. The pink took no notice of how odd she was, much more concerned that the one in front of her wanted to be a friend. Her bestust-friend ever, Camea would be! Yeah, friends are awesome, friends are really, really cool! The pink fanned her wings, using the lift and her hind-legs, strong even at this young, to jump and cling to Camea's shirt, determined to be as close as she could to her bestust-friend ever. The true oddness of her became apparent then, thin and feeble forelegs grasping weakly at the shirt, spread wings showing off her "brilliant" coloration - she looked as if she'd taken a roll in paint, or pink mud, and some of it had dried and the rest hadn't before she busted through a bouquet of flowers, getting the additional pink on her already pink hide. Her eyes whirled busily with green and blue as she stared up at her bestust-friend ever. Oooh, she was hungry. Her friend could help her be not hungry, right? And then help her make more friends, cause friends are awesome!

In complete contrast to her maybe-sister, Jasra's egg hatched slowly, near silently, the creature inside working diligently, but afraid. Afraid to be judged on appearance. A foot finally broke through, only to be yanked back inside, the firelizard still working until the head came free. The green walked out of the remains of her shell, staring up at the redhead and the collection of new acquaintances with trepidation. What would they think of her? Would they like her?
Little wings, barely large enough to keep her aloft folded and unfolded spasmodically on her back, the little green staring fearfully up. She just wanted to be left alone, so no one could see her and look at her and point at her. Leave me alone, but get me food but leave me alone, she wanted to cry out, curling into a tighter ball and shivering fearfully once before forcing herself to walk forward, nudging at Jasra with her head. She'd be taken care of, right? Please?

In Lyr's room, the egg that had been rocking suddenly stopped. A pair of bright pink wings extended to full length, but they were the only part of the flitter that was actually outside the cracked egg. A confused chirp sounded from within the egg, the sound turning into a frightened squawk as the egg fell backwards. The egg shattered around the bright pink flitter and four paws scrabbled in the air. The pink quickly righted herself, then spotted a piece of shell. Trilling loudly, she pounced it, bouncing around madly. Then she noticed Lyr. She tilted her head at Lyr and chirped brightly. She was hungry, and the person in front of her had food. She chirped a greeting to Satin, then bounded over to Lyr and climbed up her, trying desperately to get to the food. She was hungry, ever so hungry, and - what was that? Her shattered shell distracted her again. Then her hunger distracted her from the shell. She looked back to Lyr and chirped demandingly, pressing her purple-ish face into the woman's face. The flit was properly formed, though a bit rounder than most. Her tail was long and whippy, and her face was more lavender than pink. She creeled piteously for food. She was hungry! Other things could wait. For now. Until she noticed them, of course.

As her egg rocked, Lyr watched with fascination. This was nothing like Satin's hatching. The copper sat in her shoulder, regal as could be as she watched the egg rock to and fro. Both were a bit perplexed when it stopped though. Leaning closer, Lyr almost had her nose clipped by a wing as it shot out! “Oh my!” She recoiled a bit, laughing a bit as she did. Satin didn't have as much amusement as Hers did. Copper head cocked a bit when the squawk sounded. But that was all gone when she saw the pink. Ah. It made sense now, at least, it did to Satin.
Lyr though, was all coos and giggles. “Oh aren't you just the silliest.” Lyr could hardly contain her laughter, but she knew what she had to do. Carefully she held out a piece of meat to the pink, holding still as the pink clamored onto her. The demanding chirp only made Lyr shake with giggles. The pink didn't really like that, little claws clung as best as she could, but she ended up tumbling backwards into Lyr's lap. Little feet waving in the air, she creeled again.
Reaching down, Lyr righted the small, excited pink and offered her the chunk of meat. Hungrily, she latched on and gobbled it down. Another piece was offered and the process was repeated until she felt a bit more full. That didn't stop her though. Once her tummy was filled the pink jumped up and squeaked eagerly, her tail waggling with delight. Another chirp was given to Satin. Obviously the pink wanted to play. Winging down to the ground, Satin eyed the smaller firelizard. “Before you two play,” Satin chirped, informing Lyr that she hadn't made up her mind yet. “Either way, before she goes off to play, she needed a name.” She tilted her head a bit, all sorts of conventional names coming to mind. But no, this flitter would not do with a traditional name. She was hyper! She was happy! She was a sparkling jewel of joy! “Sequin. That's your name.” Lyr beamed down at the flitter who only chirped again. Puzzlement was sent from Satin. What was a Sequin?
