Kestrel clutched the bowl of meat she had been given to her chest. She watched as one by one the eggs started to hatch, tripping over one another and chirping loudly. She was enthralled by them. As she watched each begin to impress Kestrel suddenly felt very afraid. How would she ever be able to care for such a tiny creature? An overwhelming fear engulfed her at the thought of another life depending on her. This was only increased when she heard another egg crack. It was like a hammering sound inside her head. The commitment, the responsibility.. She felt sick. Growing paler by the second Kestrel backed away from the group, reaching for a wall, something to lean on. She found the door she had come through and bolted, too embarressed to explain her leaving so suddenly.
Guilt ridden, fearful and shaking Kestrel stumbled down the corridors to the main hall. She couldn't believe what she'd just done. She was so afraid of ruining such a beautiful creatures life with the mistakes she was sure she would make. Her mind was torn. Part of her wanted to scream because she felt so useless! How would she ever impress a dragon if she felt green after a fire lizard hatching?? But another part of her whispered that maybe she wasn't destined to be a rider at all... Tears welled up in her eyes and she ran, trying to tell herself that it was just nerves.

Incompatible, it don't matter though, Cause someone's bound to hear my cry, Speak out if you do, You're not easy to find.
The green did not much care what L'am was giving her. It was food! She was hungry! He understood her! Yay! That meant he could take her big places. She gobbled up the meat and then clawed her way up to his shoulder, so she wouldn't fall off as she ate or slept. She was feeling dozy too, not that she admitted that. Hunger was more pertinent to her. Sonia was forgotten by the young creature, though when the greenrider thought to come out of hiding from behind L'am, she was greeted with a cheerful trill. "You better take good care of her;" Sonia warned beneath her breath, but the threat had no backing and no heart. She stood on her tip toes to smile at the pretty young creature, no longer scared of the green. Once a firelizard had an owner, it was a friend to her, nasty or nice. She couldn't stand like that for long though and soon settled back down.
Sonia did her best to keep tabs on what was happening too, but she was tired. She didn't all that much care. So long as Eulo wasn't upset, she found it very hard to care. Pretending like she was some great host was beyond her. She could play pretend. She could, but only as a drudge. The turns had made that necessary. Anything else? She was just Sonia, not that anyone, including herself, quite knew what that was. She managed to give Kyrillion a nod of greeting when she arrived, able to identify the wingsecond who owned the purple. The greenrider gave another nod to Lyr when she was asked if Eulo belonged to her, but then she retreated back behind L'am, her handy meat shield. Old habit. She didn't like too many questions. Aimeth, meanwhile, had taken to sulking with sass and ignoring everyone, especially the late arrivals that spoke to her.
The orange had, at long last, righted herself. It was not her fault she was bad at physical things! She could strut! That was important, just like her! Getting back on her feet was unnecessary! It was not her fault! She was a Queen, see, see, see? As good as her mother, even if she would forever be significantly smaller! The egocentric hatchling was not about to bested by anyone else, so she hurriedly flung herself from the furs, intent on flying to find her new owner. However, as was mentioned, physical activity wasn't for her. That was because she wasn't good at it, more than because she was lady, though she'd never tell you that. She landed short of any human, having picked a mark too faraway, but she didn't want to just stay on the dirty ground, so she quickly scrambled up the pant leg and shirt of her intended target. Naima was hers! Hers!
The larger of the two greens, briefly shocked by falling off the bed, had entirely forgotten the ordeal. She didn't remember what had happened and she didn't care. Remembering the past would not be her priority and that was good, because it wasn't something she was capable of doing. Right then, and forever after, though she didn't know that, she just wanted to go, go, go! She took to scramble amongst the feet of the spectators, going from one to the next. She hadn't realized that people were people and she could use them. She simply wasn't scared of the big things with feet. Her feet were better! They carried her places! As the green raced about, another egg, small like the speckled green's shattered prison, began to crack. It was a slow process, one tiny chunk of shell flaking off, then another. Bit by bit, a hole opened. One hole became three.
The egg went quiet after that. It appeared to have given up. Was it to be dropped between? Had the mite inside already passed beyond, the effort of hatching too much? Down where Samael and Naireth was, the black eagerly grabbed at the meat, only to be surprised that pinkish tan fingers held it. He sat back in shock, still staring up, the meat in his mouth. So many pinkish brownish tan things! He blinked four lids, swallowed the meat, and then puffed up his chest happily. He loved pinkish brownish tan things! They went nice with his blackness! Creeling for his new owner to feed him, he demanded to be picked up. He wanted to exist up too, just like Samael! No more second big egg with no top for him! Back up in the weyr, as the black forged his bond, the little egg began rocking again and another black was freed. He happily collapsed on the bed.
As the black laid down to rest, P'nay was ambling up the tunnel to Sonia's weyr. He knew he was going to be late, but he didn't much mind. Annith fretted about upsetting a young green like Aimeth, but that only amused her easygoing rider. You aren't that old, Annith; he told her, grinning at her in his mind. She hummed with appreciative laughter, forever tolerant, forever appreciative, forever worried for the sake of others without losing an ounce of sunniness. He wasn't going for the flits either. He was simply being dragged along by an insistent Carol as the blue tried to wrangle up Stage Fright to come sing with him, Capella, and Junior. Listening to the blue bemoan the lack of the doubtlessly hiding black, P'nay smiled for the sake of smiling and let himself be dragged along. R'ish hadn't been around much. Wasn't anything else to do. Then he saw Kestrel.
P'nay was no bleeding heart, but, well, a crying girl to him was like an ice cream sundae. Probably wasn't good for him but that hardly mattered until later. She was running, but he tried to stop her gently. There wasn't much space in the back tunnels anyway, so it wasn't hard to get in her way, stopping her teary flight. "What's the matter?" His voice was kind, his smile easy. The question was genuine; he was a good listener. However, his reasons for stopping were a touch less moral. "Didn't you hear? Pretty girls aren't supposed to cry." A chuckle tickled at the very back of his throat, but he settled for a smile and a wink, trying to cheer her up and be honest. He liked her skin. A bad, bad, naughty, naughty thought, but it was true. She had nice skin. Brown Junior sat on his shoulders, quiet as could be. Capella and Carol had flown on ahead.
The black showed no signs of moving, too exhausted from hatching, while the remaining green continued to prance. However, on the bed, sometime else stirred. The Queen egg was rocking. The orange was lucky that she had already chosen who she wanted, for the new firelizard ruler wasted no time in breaking out. The slender creature emerged on steady limbs, having none of her smaller sister's lack of strength. However, she also had none of her sister's ladylike ways. She knew she was large and strong, but she was a simple creature, a flitter, nothing more. She would protect her own, but she was beast of basic things. While light of shade and a touch yellow around the edges, like the orange, one only needed a moment to deem her a copper. She knew she wanted. No doubts. No questions. Leaving the bed, she crawled and climbed over to Lyr.
Who doesn't long for someone to hold, Who knows how to love you without being told, Somebody tell me why I'm on my own, If there's a soulmate for everyone.

Lyr could see Sonia didn't want to socialize much, and the woman couldn't hold it against her. Strangers and friends alike were intruding on her most personal of personal spaces, stamping around her bed as eggshells littered her furs. So she stood back, amongst the others, content to watch the new flitters struggle out of their eggs. She did her best not to touch others, or push or jostle. But sometimes it was rather difficult.
She focused on the orange for a moment, watching her right herself. Lyr gave a little cheer, good for her! Though it didn't last. When the Orange launched herself from the furs, her breath catching in her throat as she tried to gasp. Nudging someone a bit, she leaned over, heaving a sigh of relief as the orange looked okay. The orange didn't take long to find her's though. It was rather heartwarming. Looking away from the scene, Lyr caught a flash of green, and she glanced at the small one who wove around their feet. How curious!
The green didn't seem intent on choosing though, so Lyr looked to the bed once more. By the time she did though, the small egg had stopped moving. The first hatchling though, a little black, seemed intent on getting a piece of meat. She laughed softly, watching the odd little spectacle as it sat in that egg. Flitters were great fun to watch. Not unlike their larger cousins, their personalities ranged far and wide. A second black hatched, tired from all that effort. “Oh.. Poor little mite.” She cooed softly, the meatless hand covering her mouth.
The queen egg was hatching though, and it of course, stole the show. Leaning in, Lyr 'Ooh'd and 'Ahh'd as it rocked to and fro on the furs. She wondered if that was difficult, furs being rather sleek. But the thought was quickly shoved away as the egg broke, exposing the slender new queen. She was bold. She was focused. She was copper! And she had her eyes set on Lyr. Heart raced, and the woman panicked a bit. What should she do? What should she do? Deep breath was taken, and let out slowly, Lyr clearing her mind. Focus. Calm down. Carefully, she offered the copper the meat, a tad bit squished and slightly warm from holding it, but meat none the less.

To the Bronzerider's relief, the little Green decided to stay with him after all. She took his offering up without a qualm and climbed up his chest to sit upon his shoulder. He felt the same way he had when Suede chose him several turns ago; proud and pleased with his latest companion. It was harder for him to think of a name for this flitter than it had been for the Blue. Nothing came to mind immediately, as Suede's name conveniently had done so before. He tried to think of her qualities so far--friendly, social, flighty, and sure of what she wanted. It wasn't really helping, but he knew that the Green would get along very well with his Blue. Suede might even consider her to be his daughter while she was just a hatchling since he had attempted to fly after Eulo before this clutch came to be.
He decided on a name finally, while staring at the firelizard all the while. He had a old friend back at the Hold he was raised in named Amelia. She was nearly as social as he was, and they spent their first few turns together as rivals. While he was the leader of one group of children, another followed in her footsteps. Granted, she wasn't very well liked by anyone because she could be mean, but L'am could always tell back then that she was just trying to one-up him any chance she got. Eventually they had gotten along and they shared a rocky relationship. Like most cases of young love, it didn't last very long. In fact, it practically came to an end a couple of days before he was Searched. It was mutual. Or at least he thought it was.
So Amelia it was. He hoped this Amelia would be far more pleasant than his old friend, considering how that ended. Memory aside, it was a name he always had a fondness for. Plus, he could call her 'Amy' for short if he needed her in a hurry.
"I'll try. Though I'm sure Amelia will be taking care of me just as well," he said with a chuckle. He intentionally mentioned the flitter's name, hoping the Green would catch on. Hopefully she'd agree? It wasn't a bad name at all, was it? He glanced to Sonia to search for a reaction, because if it was, he'd probably consider changing it. It wasn't a heavily inspired choice after all. He was noticing how often she chose to remain behind him, avoiding the gaze of the crowd. Part of him felt honored, though he was being used as a meat shield rather than an instrument of comfort. But that had to mean that she was starting to feel just ever so slightly safer around him. It made him very pleased to believe that. All the while L'am was beaming, though he had to separate himself from his thoughts for a moment to remind Suede that it wouldn't be wise for him to enter. The Blue was very anxious to meet his new friend, and L'am was in no hurry to leave Sonia's presence. Was he actually happy? Genuinely happy? He thought so. No. He knew so. And the best part of it all was the fact that that feeling wasn't going away. It wasn't just a fling. Sonia wasn't devoted to him, and there was a piece of him that knew it was for the best. Every other girl who sold her soul for him always lost her luster. This Greenrider was of a different mold. He wondered if he had finally found something he never thought he'd ever experience. Perhaps he was even starting to...
No. It was just too soon for that word!
--------
A medium-sized egg, mottled with earthen-tones and easy to lose if it ever had the misfortune to roll into a forest due to its natural flecks of green, gave a sudden vibration as if the creature inside made a charge. It then went still, quiet for about two long minutes. Meanwhile a smaller egg, a consistent muddy red all around, began to crack at the top before it too went still. There was no telling between the two which one would hatch first, if the flitters inside were still living. The larger egg did not budge a fraction and the smaller one's cracks were slowly expanding. Finally, the mucky egg's top was pierced by a nose, maroon in color.
A second peck broke open the shell well enough for the flitter inside to poke her head out and scan her surroundings, but all the while she chattered in an argumentative fashion, complaining about her settings, strife, and so-on from the very moment she was born. After all, everything was a mess and she found it utterly distasteful; somebody had to let it be known, because if she didn't, no one else would. She shattered the rest of her prison with her long, whip-like tail, exposing the rest of her to the world. She was a stout flitter, stockier than most of her sisters, but she was a Pink nonetheless. Her color was consistently maroon, just as her shell was of a consistent color. But her plain appearance did not define her nature! Her opinions mattered just as much as everyone else's! She was important too! Right? Sometimes she doubted herself, especially when it was too quiet and nothing she could say or do would change a thing, but maybe if she picked out one of these tall alien-looking creatures to tail she wouldn't have to resign to being a nobody. One of them would surely listen to her if she tagged along. She hadn't the foggiest doubt about that. What she wasn't sure of however was which to pick. They all looked the same to her.
Suddenly, like a time bomb, the camo-egg exploded. A blur of something green emerged from it, landing on the sprawling back of her Pink sister and pinning her to the bed with her beady orange eyes flashing. But she wasn't starting a fight or attempting to harm her sister. She was simply holding her in place, making sure she wasn't a threat to her or her mother. The Green was an interesting sight. Lithe and compact, her hide was the very definition of camouflage. Greens of many kinds, none loud and mixed with very earthen muddy hues, littered her hide from nose to tail. Unlike the Pink she pinned, she was petite yet powerful. Her claws were sharp, her eyes were fierce, and her proportions were destined for perfection. She would be a streamline flying machine. There was no doubt that this Green would be one of the fittest flitters of her color.
The Pink had shrieked when she was pounced upon, but she was struggling and fussing immediately afterwords. She complained until her dark face nearly went blue, but the Green was taking the pause to analyze her sister. She wasn't listening to a word the Pink was saying, and words were something her sister had in abundance. The insults were pretty harsh, but the little warrior on her older sister's back swiftly determined that this flitter was of no threat. She was annoying, but she wasn't dangerous. The Green hoped off her sister's back and prowled towards the edge of the bed, looking to the humans warily. As fierce of a warrior she happened to be, she needed someone to protect. Her mother was fine, for now, but she couldn't protect her forever. Now one of these humans could fit the bill nicely. She just had to choose wisely.
The Pink was not done with her sister. Oh no. What she had done was insulting. And she hadn't even apologized! She stomped over, albeit having an awkward time of moving about, and continued to insult the Green from a carefully measured distance, while demanding an apology all the while. The Pink did feel that she deserved at least that much.
Meanwhile, Another egg was hatching. This time, it was a grey egg mottled with a near neutral blue of a medium size, and it hatched in an average fashion. First the flitter inside was kicking its way out, then it settled for a few seconds before going at it again. Finally the bottom of the egg gave out and a Blue spilled out, shaking the goop off himself like a dog. His hide was a color that was easy on the eyes; the kind of blue commonly seen on the scrubs interns wear at a clinic. Around the base of his neck however was a triangular mark of darker blue, sort of like a collar or a bandana in its shape. He blinked and sat up where he had landed, briefly intrigued by his sisters' quarrel. Well, it was rather one-sided, and there was little else that got his attention quickly enough. He almost appeared to be constantly frightened, but he was naturally doe-eyed and he was timid to boot, so part of the time he really was. Right now he just didn't want to put himself in harm's way. As of yet, he didn't have a reason to do so. No. Sitting here was just nice enough for him. The bed was soft and he was safe here by his shells. He'd take a nap but he just had no idea where that situation would lead and he didn't want to wake up to his Green sister breathing down his neck. He just wanted to have a nice, normal, and happy little life.
A couple of other eggs were beginning to show signs of life, but neither of them were making a lot of progress yet.

Naima had not expected to meet a hatchling this quickly. She felt like she’d barely entered the room and the orange fire-lizard had come right to her.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow," Naima whimpered under her breath as the flitter climbed up her leg and torso. The hatchling didn’t care at all about how her claws sank into the girl’s flesh or how they tore it and her clothes. She showed that clearly in her posture.
Naima put her free hand under the flitter’s body to lift her up and keep her from digging into her breasts. With her other hand, she offered the dried meat she’d brought, but was confused when the flitter didn’t immediately take it and start eating. The confusion only lasted a moment because the flitter looked the meat and then at her with a disapproving color in her eyes.
"There’s nothing wrong with it," Naima told her, wondering if maybe she’d been expecting fresh meat for her first meal. "It’s just dried."
The fire-lizard didn’t change her expression and sent Naima the image in her head. It was of the meat in her hand, but cut up, and it all gave Naima the feeling that this fire-lizard would tear into her if she kept trying to make her take the meat whole.
Naima knelt down and meant to put the hatchling on the ground, but before she even touched the floor, the fire-lizard dug her claws into Naima’s arm and gave an angry squawk. Naima quickly brought her back up and put most of the orange onto her leg so that she could use her other hand to tear off a bite-size piece of meat.
Once the piece was broken off, Naima held it up to the flitter, who took it hungrily in her mouth. Naima had another piece ready before she finished and after taking the second piece, the fire-lizard climbed up Naima’s arm and onto her shoulder. Naima was glad about that because it meant she could stand up. It also made it easier to break off multiple pieces of meat.
Once Naima’d gotten the orange’s eating speed memorized, she gave more of her attention to the rest of the hatching. She felt like she’d missed a lot, but she did see that a copper queen had hatched and now more flitters had broken through their shells. Naima wondered who the remaining fire-lizards would pick.

Malissa was glad to see Tana Impress the first pink. She knew the girl a little, and was happy for her. She certainly didn't expect the next pink hatchling to wander straight up and take a bite out of her meat! But there it was, little and sleek and filling her head with images so fast it made the dragon candidate mildly dizzy. In a daze she let the tiny fire-lizard finish the piece of meat, then offered another, holding her hand out between the endlessly image-prattling baby and the food to try to tempt it onto her arm almost automatically.
"Hello there," she whispered, smiling encouragingly at the creature as it told her all about what it was like to be cooped up in an egg. At least Malissa thought that was what the little pink was talking about. "Aren't you a little sweetheart? Come here, that's a good girl."
The pink paused with her forepaws on the girl's wrist, and snorted. She knew she was a good girl, but couldn't the big two-legger wait to say that until she was done? But there was food, and she was hungry, so the momentary insult was soon shrugged off and she crawled onto the offered hand, spreading her still-damp wings for balance, and took another bite. She could tell her human how rude it was to talk when she was telling later. She liked the sound of that. Her human. All Hers. And Hers evidently liked her, so all was - for the most part - as it should be.
The next piece of meat was served on Malissa's shoulder, and the pink had nary paused to think between all the things she simply had to tell Hers about right now. She didn't even have to pause to let the girl know that she needed more food. She kept eating, and the girl kept offering meat, until her stomach felt pleasantly stuffed and she leaned her head against the girl's cheek, starting to feel drowsy. It was pleasant, sitting there, feeling all kinds of good and affectionate thoughts from Hers.
When the fire-lizard yawned, the flood of images slowed to a trickle, and then was replaced by just emotions. The little pink was contented, happy, and liked her, and that was more than enough to make Malissa's heart swell. She stroked the small creature's neck with a finger, and then gently lifted it down into her arms, worried her new pet might fall if she fell asleep up there on her perch on Malissa's slender shoulder.
"You're quite a chatterbox, aren't you?" she crooned softly to the fire-lizard as it curled up in the crook of her elbow. The babble that never seemed to end, not even pause for a breath, reminded Malissa of a girl she and her brother had played with in her childhood, who had also seemed to have an ability to talk a mile a minute. Her name might fit the fire-lizard, too. "How do you like Shalarissa for a name?"
Sleepily, the little pink lifted her head and chirped. If Hers needed to name her, that was certainly a suitably pretty name. And while she dozed, Malissa idly stroked her and watched the eggs, marveling over how much personality the flitters had out of the egg and inwardly applauding as each of them found someone to their liking among the audience. Her own little babbling beauty had somehow put a silver lining on an already good day, and she was glad others got to share that feeling with little ones of their own.

Ryn stiffened a little as the green dragon before her suddenly looked like it was ready to sing a different tune. She thought that maybe her greeting hadn't been so satisfactory. Still it wasn't her or the younger girl Aimeth was eying. It was the other candidate, thank Faranth. Hestiath was sitting complacently, awaiting acknowledgment of some kind before she would try to walk past. Ryn figured she had the right of it. She wasn't too pleased about it. Stupid girl should have known better than to piss off a large, green dragon. She shot the girl a dirty look, fuming silently. Hestiath, meanwhile, watched the entire scene calmly. When Sonia suddenly cut in with something about 'biting candidates' Ryn tood a step backwards. Bite? Shells no, she wasn't going to be anywhere near a dragon who wanted to bit--oh. She wasn't a candidate anymore. Hestiath was giving off a bemused feeling. When Aimeth went to her couch, the pink sent pleasantly,
Thank you kindly, Aimeth, before she walked further into the weyr and stood where she could see the eggs but was not in the way of anyone else. Ryn half-frowned before following. She wanted a spot closer up front. After all, if the fire-lizards couldn't see her how in Faranth's name was she supposed to get one. Perhaps she was being a bit irrationa. Hestiath was in a place where they'd be seen. Just not right up front. She glowered at the pink and then folded her arms over her chest crossly. Then they started hatching, one after the other. When an orange hatched she thought that perhaps it would look her way, only it didn't. Then the queen hatched. It was a copper and it didn't even look twice at anyone but some girl she didn't recognize in the least. Not that she bothered with many people but it was still a bit of a crappy situation. Two perfectly good fire-lizards and they hadn't even looked her way. She grumbled and then looked over at the young dragon who nudged her hand, obviously trying in her usual way to comfort her. Well, she didn't need comforting. Who cared if they hadn't chosen her? Weren't worth her time if they'd gone to just anyone. There were other ones besides. A fierce looking green and a blue, another pink. She was watching the green with a smug look on her face. All the power to it, if it could so easily show those others what was what. Hestiath looked like she might scold it for misbehaving, and she kicked her lightly with her foot. She could be so annoyingly 'good' a lot of the time. Who cared? It wasn't like the green was tearing off wings or gauging out eyes. No big deal if it wanted to show the others how much better it was. The blue was interesting enough, so far as colors went. She figured that she might have something better waiting for her if she didn't get the feisty green. Though she was pretending not to she was interested in it. xXx Taylire looked a bit alarmed by Aimeth's sudden change in mood. What had she done wrong? She hadn't said anything bad, had she? She opened her mouth to apologize but then Sonia spoke up and made her worry even more. Only there was another candidate there and not just her. Was it that one? She didn't think she had said anything to make the green mad, had she? Sonia had scolded her though and she felt a little bad about it but she didn't think it had been her fault. But Aimeth looked rather dejected and she almost wanted to say something but didn't know what to say. Instead she followed after the red haired girl with the pink dragonet. She found a spot and watched as the hatching began. So many little fire-lizards, and they were all so cute! She watched with apparent longing as one after the other Impressed. She didn't care what colors they were, she just would have rally, really liked one! Some of the people here already had dragons from the recent hatching. It didn't seem fair to her that they were here. Didn't they have their dragons already to worry about? People like her and some of the other candidates had nothing at all to keep them company. Still she had to remind herself that if they weren't there others would still be and all the fire-lizards needed someone to care for them. She was only wishing that someone was her, for one of them. They were all so little. Mini-dragons. She clutched the sleeves of her shirt lightly. She might not even get one of these, either. She wished there had been some way she could have gotten one for sure. Only she couldn't unless she had the marks to buy one. She didn't, and so she would not be able to get one if she did not Impress one here. She thought the girl who got the copper was so lucky. But again she would have been happy with anything. The green, the blue, the pink...any of them. She tried not to let it show that she was thinking these things. Instead she wondered if she willed one to come her way, it might.

One of the larger eggs by the scrub-colored Blue began to crack, swaying in place as the creature inside was making a delicate effort to escape his prison. It wasn't a unique egg at that, apart from its size; the colors were muted and the mottled texture was lost in deep grays. The cracks weren't even visible at first, but certainly audible. It was a very thick shell.
The Blue turned to detect the origin of those sounds and got to his feet instantly. He tried to back away, but he only stumbled over himself and landed on his tail like a sorry little mess. He didn't like surprises; the last thing he wanted was a flitter on his back. But all the while he watched his sibling's progress with keen eyes. What he missed however, was the hatching of an egg a lot smaller to his right.
The tiny egg, mottled in a tarnished color, gave way to a glossy Green. Her color was exceptionally dark for her kind, and the gloss of it almost made her appear to be black in color. But she was undeniably a Green. Her very attitude screamed this aloud. She stepped away from her shells and shook off the goop, falling over on her side only to get back up and look around to make sure no one saw her go down. She didn't really care if anyone did--it was a force of habit and she was just a tyke after all. But determined to make the most of her freedom, she joined the Blue to watch her sibling hatched.
And so it had. The big gray egg finally shattered enough for the flitter inside to push its way out. The wall gave way unexpectedly, and a rusty colored Brown tumbled out. He blinked and glanced up at his two curious siblings, but he stared them down warily, making no attempts to strike up a conversation or make friendship. He wasn't interested in that right now. The Blue knew better than to mess with that kind of attitude, so he began to back away. The glossy Green, however, stepped up fearlessly and chirped a friendly hello. Her Blue brother, intrigued by her brave and friendly behavior, couldn't peel himself away completely. Unlike his other two sisters, this one didn't scare or unsettle him. She was something special, wasn't she? But he was a little too shy to join her at the moment. He watched from afar instead.
Meanwhile, the camo-Green finally settled on her charge. She spread her wings wide and leaped off the edge of the bed, attempting to glide to the ground. She wasn't adept at flying just yet, so she was keen to stick with what she knew would work. Her instincts fell on gliding, but someday she would master flight with astounding skills in agility. She prowled fearlessly about the feet of these humans before she stopped at Nimara and began her ascent up the Redrider's leg. She kept climbing until she reached a shoulder and settled upon it, curling her tail about the back of her human's neck possessively. She gave a hiss at the people around her to let them all know whom they should never dare to mess with. She didn't care how big they were, or what they threatened to do to her. She would fight for Nimara to the death if necessary.
The Pink was infuriated by her sister's behavior, but she settled there on the edge, making no effort to go after her. She chattered out into the crowd, likely shouting out a few more insults before remembering the important things like eating or finding a human that would actually listen to her. Her spirits were slightly crushed by the fact that her sister did nothing in response. Not even an apology! In a sour mood, the Pink turned to sneak a peek at her latest siblings. None of them seemed interesting to her. A great big deal that lot was, a Brown among them. She could be as good as any flitter! Maybe even better! Best Pink in Dalibor, perhaps. But no better than a Queen. She wasn't going to aim for stars if she was born an ant. She'd just have to try harder than those of her rank. There was a whole world to see, and all these people around her to help her in that regard. It'd be an awful waste to pass that up.
So the Pink turned to the humans once again, with their food and their ears. She attempted to flutter towards Naima, but then noticed immediately with a flash of orange that she had Impressed already. No! She didn't want to share with an Orange! No way she'd listen to her! In midair, she attempted to change her course, but wings short as they were, her ability to navigate properly at this young age was dismal...at best. She ended up flying into Lyr and tumbling to the ground. No, this didn't seem right. The Pink got to her feet and slumped. She was doing everything all wrong. Maybe she wasn't meant for any of these people. She was just a Pink after all. Pinks weren't important. She wasn't important...
Her sad little eyes finally met with a pair of feet that seemed to feel right to her, somehow. Tilting her head up, she beheld the towering Paralee. Maybe...maybe she would listen. The Pink chirped up at the Bluerider at the top of her lungs.

As more and more eggs hatched, Rethalt kept more and more tabs on the flitters. Greens, Pinks, and Blues hatched and Impressed without giving him a single glance. An orange hatched, as did the copper. He tapped his leg lightly for applause, all the while keeping an eye on the black. The poor little guy must be exhausted from all that hatching! His attention was soon fully taken by a little brown that had hatched. How cute! His hide looked almost like Resks, albeit a bit darker and richer. Resk would enjoy having a little flitter baby to spend time with; he missed that one day when he had chased His’ sister’s flitters, Drahaus and Whiting.
In all honesty, he didn’t know one thing about flitters. All he knew was that they Impressed and they looked like tiny dragons. If he got a female, he would have no idea how to care for the eggs, and he wouldn’t be able to go to Krys; she has two males. If he got a male, then he could go to her for advice. Either way, if they get unruly, he would have to ask Krys where she learned how to keep her two rambunctious boys in check. He didn’t want puncture wounds in his arms that aren’t from tree branches or bites not from insects, thank you kindly.

H’to couldn’t help but let his grin spread more and more as each flittet…flitterling? Or what ever one would call the baby Firelizards, hatched. He loved watching the little things wander around, looking at the people with large eyes. He inspected each flitter with approving eyes. Oh how he loved their patterns! The little camo was quite adorable, though, her hide wasn’t as pretty as Dia’s smooth hide. Sure, he was bias, but oh well. Then the maroon-ish pink hatched. She was quite a little thing, she was. Her voice echoed her frustration and her attitude. That had to be respected! She was not afraid to speak her mind. He smiled to himself more, thinking about how Amour liked to speak her mind, though, not in such a…noisy…manner. Maybe that was a Pink thing? Maybe not. He wasn’t sure, and truthfully, doubted he would ever find out. As the camo colored green and little maroon-pink chose their people, he held in the want to clap for them. Habit. He almost let it go, but then figured that the sound would probably be too loud for the little dragonic creatures. No, silence was probably better than loud noise. This group may not have a perfect friend for us, Lanith hummed into H’to’s mind. The black haired, blue eyed man smiled again. True, but it is always a privilege to watch them hatch. They are all too perfect looking. That blue makes me think of you when you were little! H’to almost started laughing as he watched the large eyed blue. Uncertain and unsure. It was hard for H’to to believe that Lanith used to be an uncertain youngster, and was now a large, lazy beast. Age does a lot to a scarred dragon, Lanith laughed his mental, dragonic laugh just as H’to focused back in on the Flitter hatching.

ooc: Bre, I have a spot in this hatching for a flitter for J'kan. Unfortunately, I don't really have time to post a long post, since my dad is in the hospital. I won't reach 200 words, but I'll just throw a quick post in so he can get his egg.
--
J'kan was startled when Hath mentioned a fire lizard hatching. Blinking, the rider shook his head. "You hate flits. Why tell me?" Hath snorted. You like the silly things. And maybe the other monster will leave me alone if it has a friend to play with. Laughing, J'kan left his weyr and headed down to Sonia's. He greeted the dragon politely with a bow, and entered. A few people were already gathered. Some he recognized, others he didn't. Fire lizards were hatching left and right, and Impressing all over the place. Taking a bowl of meat, J'kan waited. More and more people were arriving, but he waited patiently, waiting for the right moment, and the right flitter for him, Hath, and Pinky.

Like a comet pulled from orbit, As it passes a sun, Like a stream that meets a boulder, Halfway through the wood.
The copper snatched up the bit of meat Lyr offered, extended her wings to help dry them, and then leaped up, flicking her wings to help her get up to the girl's hip and then crawled up with prickly claws. She curled around Lyr's neck, showing no signs of moving. The black had slowly, ever so slowly, managed raise his head and tried to cry out over the din of everything else, ignorant to all of his brothers and sisters. Nothing came out at first, his voice rather quiet. He tried again and that time it was louder. Food! Food! He needed food! He was so terribly hungry! Dragging himself up on wobbly feet, he flopped his way to the edge of the bed, but then he could go no farther. He didn't want to fall. It was too much energy to fly. He was so, so tired. Crying again, wishing he didn't have to but knowing that he did, he looked over at G'len. He felt happy relief again then. Food! Food?
Sonia consider L'am's words as she glanced around her weyr, then she looked at Amelia and smiled, lips turning ever so slightly up at the corners. Yes, the greenrider was sure that the flitter would take care of L'am as much as he would take care of her, at least when she was grown and fully independent. Amelia would teach L'am some good lessons and perhaps he would finally leave her in peace while he played with his flitters. A bit of a pipe dream, but she had a little bit of hope, even with Aimeth busy sulking. Perhaps it was simply because Eulo was glowing with pride as her children squabbled and found food, not a particularly great mother by human standards but an endlessly proud one, but she felt better than usual. Still nervous about why in the world there needed to be a thousand people in her weyr, but hopeful. "Good;" she told L'am.
The first of the remaining greens had continued her prancing about the flood, avoiding all the others who hatched by moving towards the back. Then she wove back in again. She was getting hungry. Not tired, but hungry. Eating didn't sound like a very fun idea to her though. In the wild, she would likely have gotten eaten by a wherry, but there, she didn't have to do anything at all sensible. Well, she supposed she did need a person. The idea of going wild didn't cross her mind. She wanted to be spoiled, even if she had no intention of ever acting like a lady. Being the center of attention and getting in the way was what she loved to do, that and running as fast as she could on her wonderful feet. Without much thought to it, she scrambled up the nearest male leg and came to cling at J'kan's hip. She sat there, staring at him with her tail flailing as she waited for him to notice his energetic, fabulous, and bored new pet - her!
In Tieler's weyr, her large egg, dark brown with subtle patterns of tan, had been rocking for a while, cracking and chipping. Finally, the flitter could wait no longer. He flailed and kicked, forcing his egg apart and rolling out into the warm sand that lined the pot where he was kept. He blinked his eyes, finding it still quite dark. For a moment, he lay on his back quietly, waiting for something to happen, patience restored. However, when nothing occurred, he decided to act again. He went upwards, running into something hard, and falling back. The top of the clay pot had been displaced though and light flooded the space. He leaped upwards again and came surging out, falling awkwardly down the other side. He landed with his foot on his wing. It hurt, but he did not cry out. His dark blue wings blended into a body of medium blue. His muzzle was marked by a pale snip.
Ever so carefully, the blue removed his foot from his wing. Then he got back to work. The weyr where he had come out was large, but he knew where he was supposed to go. He scrambled over towards the bed and then leaped up, missed, tried again, and finally succeeded at getting up, flailing his wings to give him a little extra boost. They felt very achy, his muscles protesting, but that did not matter. He could rest when there was nothing to do and he had someone to take care of him. The world wasn't making so much sense thus far. He wondered where his mother was or really any Queen. He needed someone to be in charge of him, so that was exactly what he was after. However, the one for him appeared to have not noticed his appearance. He did not mind. It was good that she slept. Trying to be loving, but not very good at it, the blue curled up on Tieler's face.
Like a ship blown from its mooring, By a wind off the sea, Like a seed dropped by a skybird, In a distant wood.

Everything felt slow. The eggs were hatching fast, she knew that. And impressions were happening so quickly. But Lyr couldn't help but feel as if time had slowed down quite a bit. She was a bit frazzled. Hand tentatively held out meat as she coaxed the Copper closer. Before the flit could take it though, something crashed int her. It wasn't large, an it didn't smack into her that hard. Wide eyed, she looked to see the small pink scurry off. Poor thing. She felt a small pang of pity for her, but it didn't last long. While she had been a bit distracted, the copper snapped the meat from her hand!
A bit startled by the sudden loss of the meat, she looked down in time to see the queen flick her wings and leap to her hip. Stifling a giggle, Lyr grinned like a giddy idiot as the Copper settled herself around her neck. Reaching over, she picked up another piece of meat and held it up to the flit. “Aren't you lovely.” She cooed softly as one again the meat was snatched up. Now she had to think of a name! That was the hard part. She looked to the copper on her shoulder and was amazed at the way her hide looked. So soft and sleek. That's when the perfect name popped in her head. Handing the small queen another bit of meat, she smiled. “I think I shall call you... Satin.” The name fit, at least in her mind.
The copper regarded hers happily, the sending a wave of love through the newly forged mental link. She was feeling full now, her stomach filled with delicious meat. When hers spoke of a name, the Copper simply sat there. If hers thought it was good, then the Queen had no argument. Peering down from her new perch, she watched her clutchmates scramble around, trying to find food of their own. She curled herself closer to Lyr's warm skin, protecting her. If any of them even got near Hers, then they would have a problem.

Samael beamed. She was giddy with excitement to see the black eating and being happy about it. His creel just about broke her heart - he was too cute! She was glad she had more jerky laying around. She grabbed more and fed it to the black, who ate it up rather quickly. He creeled again - he still wanted to exist up. Up! He was hesitant towards the pinkish tan hands that he saw, but he knew he liked them, because they belonged to His. Cautiously, he crawled up onto them. Yes... these pinkish things were definitely alright! Samael was laughing lightly as she lifted the black up. He wasn't sure what to think of being up now that he was. It took him a while to adjust, but then he decided that it was fine. He reached out and awkwardly moved to Sam's shoulder, having to dig his tiny claws into her shirt to get up there. He got more food from Sam's pinkish hands, and more and more, and eventually he felt good and full. He crooned happily to his pinkish Sam, and the brownish Naireth up above. He liked them.
"You need a name, then, cutie," Samael said. She thought, and the first thing that popped into her head stuck. "Balto. How 'bout Balto?" The newly-named Balto nodded. The name went with his blackness. Naireth, on the other hand, snorted. She still didn't understand this tiny 'Balto' thing.
E'rin was still up in Sonia's weyr, watching the hatching unfold. He was quite excited while he held his piece of meat at the ready. People were already Impressing! He couldn't wait. Would he get a cute flit, too? [/blockquote]

{OOC| Sorry guys, I know its been a long-time coming... I've just had a lot going on. I plan on having this be my transition back to Dali. c: }
What could be heard? Snores.
Typical.
Something eventful was going on and Tieler was sleeping, as usual. She did not hear the cracks of the egg. Another did, and the large black flitt raised his head at the occasional cracking sounds coming from inside the pot. He fixed his gaze on it, and a few familiar sounds followed the completion of the flitt’s hatching. Eclipse left his place on Tieler’s stomach, making his way over the side of her to get a better look. He had in mind to help the creature stuck in the pot, but thankfully the newly hatched blue was not stuck in the pot for long. Eclipse crooned in encouragement to the creature, though he wasn’t sure that the blue was really focused on him. He was too busy trying to get up on to the bed. To Tieler? It was likely. He was about to have a new friend! Oh splendid, a new friend! He permitted the small flitt to make the journey himself. He was ever so determined, after all.
When he finally made his way up, Eclipse kept out of his way, wanting to make sure the impression was made to His. When the flitt curled up on Tieler’s face, the black flitt practically winced. He’d get his for that, no doubt about it. He waited for Tieler to awaken from her dead sleep, for it would happen what with her breathing being tampered with. As if on cue, the redhead shot up in bed, causing the blue flitt to grip at her shirt with his claws. He attempted to make his way back up her body, but she was quick to pick him up in her hands. ”What in Faranth’s name?” she cursed, her head whipping in the direction of the pot. She could faintly make it out in the dark. Eclipse was staring at her, his eyes whirring a mix of blues in the dark. Definitely a happy camper. ”Oh...” Tieler trailed off, realizing that the blue had come from the pot, what with the displacement of sand now on her bed. She looked back to the creature in her hands, listening to its hunger-filled creel. ”Just hold on,” she grumbled, muttering something about having been in the middle of a good dream. She hadn’t wanted another one of these little buggers. She had actually won something for once though, and as such didn’t feel like denying her prize. She grabbed the bowl full of meat chunks that she’d set aside for the occasion. There wasn’t too much, for she didn’t want to overstuff it. ”So you’ve decided to break my black streak, huh?” she teased the blue, slowly feeding it. It wolfed down the chunks hungrily, and she hissed when it nearly nipped one of her fingers. ”Shards, be careful you pudgy nuisance!” The blue shrunk down, slowly raising its small wedge-shaped head to look up at her. It was quite the submissive little blue, she had a feeling it was going to be even needier than Eclipse. Eclipse at least had learned some independence early on.
”Dawn, that’s your name, got it? Don’t you dare complain it’s too feminine.” As if that was an “okay” for it to go to sleep, the little flitt did, curling up in her lap. Tieler stared down at it, heaving a sigh. She ran a hand through her red hair, snorting when she finally noticed Eclipse’s dead stare. Jealousy much, or was it just curiosity? ”Well come on then!” she shouted. The black didn’t hesitate, coming to curl up alongside the smaller blue. Tieler leaned back, for once ignoring her own comfort. Falling asleep partially sitting-up couldn’t be all that difficult...
~ ~ ~
The small brunette looked extremely nervous. The flitt’s were said to hatch now, and she had a feeling she wasn’t going to get one. She had stayed back while everyone else headed in. They were asking permission of the dragon that was bonded to the girl with the flitt clutch, to enter. She was trying to muster up the courage, so presently she was standing back against the wall staring down at her feet. If she didn’t make it in there she’d never get a flitt! Did she really want one? Would she be able to take care of it? Panith had reassured her that it’d be fine, that she could do anything she set her mind to. Remembering Panith’s words made it possible for her to take a careful step forward. Shyness stapled her in place thereafter. Her breathing was hitched, making her feel positively pathetic. She had to stop this!
When she finally looked up Sonia’s dragon wasn’t blocking the entrance anymore. Did that mean she could just go right in? No problems? She had to just... do it! And with that she made a bee-line for the entrance to Sonia’s weyr, nearly crashing into the people that were crowded in there. She apologized to someone in front of her, hiding her face from them so she wouldn’t be recognized in case they knew her. Not like she was popular enough to be known, or social enough. She politely tried to make her way to the front, not pushing past anyone, or angling around them too sharply. She merely blended-in with the crowd, waiting until she was in a position she could see from. There were many flitt’s that had hatched, and many had impressed. She bit her lip, getting a chunk of meat from her bag, like she’d been told by Panith to do. He knew more than she did in just about every area. It was embarrassing, and yet comforting all at the same time. She had no idea what she was going to do without him. Would she ever have to be without him? A chill went down her spine; she was scaring herself for no reason at all. She tried to clear her mind of everything except for the flitter hatchlings before her.

The Brown flitter didn't like all the attention his siblings were suddenly giving him. He continued to stare, even after his sister chirruped at him, without saying anything at all. He just eyed her as if she were from another planet, wondering why it was that she needed to bother him at this particular moment. He had an agenda, and now was not the time to be distracted from it. He finally got to his feet and walked around the Green as if she was barely there. She didn't like being ignored, but she didn't attack him for doing so. Instead, she glared at him for a moment before beginning to follow in his steps. The Blue hesitated at first, but with his eyes darting back to his sister, he gained the courage to tag along as well.
It was getting to be quite obvious that the Brown was not fond of this, and it got all the more apparent when he turned around and cried out that them with a tiny, yet commanding voice. The Green took a step back, blinked, but did not move any more than that. Meanwhile her brother shrunk behind her a little, glancing at her on occasion to see what she would do next. He didn't think it was such a great idea to pursue this. Why was she so interested in him anyways? He wanted nothing to do with them!
But the Green didn't care if her brother wasn't the most friendly of all creatures. She wanted to know what he was up to. She wasn't nosy. Not really. Was she? She didn't care if she was. She had no problems with her self-esteem. She could accept all her fault just as readily as her talents. When her Brown brother was nearing the edge of the bed, glancing from person to person with thorough suspicion and lack of trust for any of them, she joined him a little farther out and did the same. The Blue watched them both for a moment and thought that his sister did a pretty good impression of his bigger brother, but he slunk towards her and stood by her side, pretending to be interested in the humans. He was only really interested in what the Green was interested in for the moment. He was rather fond of her.
It wasn't guaranteed that the Brown would choose any of these people, especially because he couldn't bring himself to trust any of them enough. He peeked in his sister's direction to make sure she wasn't still staring his way and was relieved to find that she had forgotten him. Good. He didn't want to be remembered. He just wanted to do whatever it took to survive and little else. He wasn't a physical creature though. He didn't even look it, since he was pretty scrawny for a young one of his color. If she kept following him, he would have tried to run or fly away.
He continued to weigh his options, the smell of meat doing nothing to his patience. This creature was careful and he did not want to put himself in any danger no matter how much his stomach growled. If he was going to take one of these big things with him, he needed it to be safe. He started looking for the least harmful-looking human in the crowd. That easily brought his selection down to E'rin. He was the youngest one in the weyr, as far as he could see, and therefore did not look as threatening. The Brown took care getting off the bed and he fell over when he reached the ground. He didn't waste his time picking himself up and trying to save face because he had a feeling no one noticed the blunder to begin with. If they had well...as long as they left him alone he didn't care. He made his way to E'rin and traced the boy's leg with his tail to discreetly get the boy's attention. He gazed up at the Weyrling and tried to send that sensation of hunger his way. After all, he needed to eat at some point. He might as well do it now.
The Green started watching her largest brother again when he fell off the edge of the bed. What was he doing? Where was he going? He was approaching a human. Humans! Humans everywhere! They had food and they had all sorts of exciting places at their disposal. She wanted one too! She bounced up and scanned the crowd once more before she chirped and took off. She wasn't that great at flying, her wings beating rapidly like a startled bat's, but it got her off the ground for a while. She landed against Rethalt's chest and clung. She couldn't wait to go on all sorts of adventures with this one! He smelled kind of funny, and he looked pretty funny too, but it didn't make a difference to her.
As he saw by the corner of his eye the departure of his favorite sister, the Blue have a small cry of concern and watched as she fluttered over to and claimed one of the humans standing around them. He shivered. The humans didn't look safe. They were tall, and some of them had harsh faces. Maybe they would hurt him if he tried to say hello. But he really wanted to go with his sister. He wanted to be with her, but he didn't want it to be too obvious. She might think he was being too needy. Instead, after spreading his wings slowly and humming to himself as he thought, his gaze settled on a small brunette that was 'coincidentally' standing next to Rethalt and flew towards her in a trying attempt to fly straight and true. He was actually hovering decently enough, but he didn't have the same energetic pitch that his sister displayed. He landed on Zane's leg and stayed still, knowing that if he tried to scale her, his claws could end up poking her skin. He didn't want to make her angry so soon. He wanted to be accepted in peace. The Blue still looked to his sister on occasion, sad to see that she wasn't acknowledging him at this time. Well, there was plenty of time to try and impress her. In the meantime, he Impressed to this Bluerider. He had faith in Zane yet.

When Aimeth let her pass Nimara gave another polite bow, shuffling into Sonia's weyr so that she might not intrude upon the green's will for too long. Waroth, meanwhile, nodded to the green and then took off again to make room for another dragon that was coming to drop a rider off. Ripariath, a bright suede-like blue that Waroth had never really spoken to, sent Waroth a greeting and she snorted in reply. No use trying to be nice, the red was in a less than amiable mood despite being persuaded into taking her rider to this silly little hatching. With a flick of her tail she snubbed her nose at him and flew over to a sunning ledge to await for Nimara's call, should it come. She kept one mental ear on the proceedings, wanting to know what would become of her own. She didn't particularly like sharing her favorite human, but she also wanted her to be happy.
Nimara nodded to Sonia and, following some of the others that had already shown up, gathered to where the eggs had been sitting. It wasn't long before there were lots of other people showing up and she gave a timid smile to each. There was a definite awkward feeling seeping through her, as if she felt like she didn't entirely belong here. She was much older than most of the others that had shown up. Maybe firelizards were considered a child's thing in Weyr's? Either way, she felt one could be of assistance to her, and it was still an honor to sit for one, so she kept mentally telling herself that she wasn't totally out of place.
Soon eggs started hatching and all the previous oddity was forgotten. A green and an orange were some of the first, following were a blue and a pink and, at the anticipation of most in the weyr, a copper. Nimara followed each with her calm hazel eyes, smiling at their antics. Even though her thoughts had never really dallied on dragons as a viable possibility when she was younger, she had hoped to one day have a flitter of her own. Well, perhaps today would be that day? A bit belated, but possible nonetheless.
Another pink and a green and a blue made it onto the playing field... however, the pink and the green didn't seem to be getting along all that much. But they broke apart soon after their first foray and the green carried along her way, ignoring the pink's continued insults. Another green, this one darker than the rest, and a sort of reddish, clay-like brown came forth, all the while Nimara simply watched on. Some flitters had bonded already, and she gave their new owners a nod and a smile, but always returned to watching. It felt weird being in another hatching. The only hatching she had been at was Waroth's. She had almost forgotten the anxiety and the thrill that went along with it, although hopefully this time she wouldn't be pinned to the ground.
Waroth snorted, grumbling irritably from the ledge she had chosen to wait on. I rescued you from that stupid gold, and you know it! She was going to try to steal you, and it was the only way. Nimara gave a soft chuckle and sent reassuring waves of kind emotion's the red's way. I know, dear. Never worry. The red resettled herself on the ledge and grunted. Worry! When did she worry? The redhead concentrated on soothing her dragon so much that she barely recognized what was happening in the next several moments. Soon, however, there was a sharp pain of claws on her leg and, with an exclamation of surprise, the woman looked down to see a green decked out in camouflage trying to scale her leg to get to her.
After the initial surprise fled, Nimara moved quickly. With a smile to the person next to her to excuse her reach, she grabbed for a bucket of meat and began to feed the tiny green thing, which had now made her way to the back of Nim's neck and was now curled up on her shoulders. A curt, appreciative hum escaped the young flit's throat before she enjoyed the meat offered her, and then she continued her glaring at those around her... pausing only when more food was offered.
As the hatching continued the situation that had just occurred began to sink into the redrider's mind. Sigh... she had now impressed two very imperialistic females! The thought, while startling, also made her chuckle to herself. Well, it seemed as if it was meant to be... at the very least, she would always have someone to protect her. Waroth's presence snooped into her rider's mind as she judged the worth of the green flit that had now joined their tiny family. The red, other than noting that the green was really quite small, did not honestly know what to make of her.

He enjoyed watching the little brown. He really did. It was adorable how he didn’t like the extra attention, and how he- oh, he Impressed already. Rethalt just shrugged as a little grin spread across his face. Well, at least I won’t call you the flitter and the flitter you, eh Resk? he joked to his bonded. He received no reply. With a sigh, the young man turned back to the remaining hatchlings. The green looked like it was about to burst with excitement and adrenaline! It was quite adorable how she squirmed, and how she leaped, and how she flapped her wings like no tomorrow…
What wasn’t adorable was how she dug her little claws into his skin, right below his shirt. A small, nearly inaudible hiss of pain was emitted from the Brown Handler, but he knew that he shouldn’t waste time. She was already creeling rather loudly, and her gaping mouth was soon filled with tiny bits of meat. She chewed it slowly, feeling its texture, determining its juiciness… Deeming it worthy to eat, she swallowed the small wad whole and demanded for more. With a quiet and exasperated sigh, he continued filling the mouth that emptied faster than he could fill it. ”Your wish is my command...” Determining a name for the rambunctious green, he tried to pry her off of his shirt. A surprised squeal was the response, and Rethalt was soon left with empty hands and a flitter’s nose in his ear.
” … Tunnelsnake.” The nose was extracted from his ear, and a quiet hum graced it. Spots of blue dotted the back of his mind, and he grinned. Sure, he had never held a tunnelsnake before, but what the little green felt like was how he imagined them feeling. She seemed to enjoy the name, so who was he to deny her that? ”Thank you for letting me stand, Aimeth,” he thanked the dragon before edging his way out of the room. Oh, he couldn’t wait to show Resk! ”My little tunnelsnake,” the redhead crooned, but the little flitter was already asleep, prepping herself for their adventures.

Paralee crooned happily to the pink cradling her in her arms and rocking her back and forth while shoving scraps of meat into her gaping mouth. The pink chirped pitifully in thanks and snuggled into Paralee's chest. "Aww~! What a doll! Now what do I call you huh? You're so sweet! I'll call you Lele, you sweet little doll!" Paralee giggled happily and hummed cheerfully. [/ul]
