Fenrimere crooned, trying to sniff at the bugs as the passed by her. Want to see! she told Fenrimere.
Fenrimere, giggled, scooping up the green pillie as it crawled up her leg. "Look at you," she cooed, making sure to give it a good long look for Fenrisk's sake.
La, the little green sang out again as she snuggled into the nice warm hand. Yes, she liked being lifted and carried around. Much easier than actually crawling around on her own legs. When Fenrisk seemed satisfied with the view of the green, Fenrimere settled her on one shoulder and scooped up the speckled pillie.
Mrrr, the speckled girl crooned.
Fenrisk practically hopped from foot to foot as she got a good look at the speckled pillie through Fenrimere's eyes. Is white, like Fenrisk! And dark like Fenrimere! Is Fen-bug! Fen-bug, Fen-bug, Fen-bug![/i] She was so excited that she let out another roar.
"Fen-bug," Fenrimere agreed, grinning fondly down at Fenrisk. "And this green lady… How about Lazy for you?"
"La,[/i]" the green sang agreeably. As long as she got carried around, she didn't care what her Big Person Carrier called her.
"Fen-bug and Lady," Fenrimere repeated, dropping her free hand down to scratch between Fenrisk's stubby wings. "Let's go back in so you can look at them too."

One pillie for Nai please and thank you. [/i] Nai jogged continuously. The sand at the edge of the Weyr Lake was perfect for building up her lungs and her lower leg muscles. She tried to run it back and forth as much as possible. It wasn't so much about the distance, it was about the resistance and the complication that the sand provided. She'd been one of these jogs, heading the opposite way, when something had occurred and a crowd had gathered. When she'd finally turned around, the crowd had grown quite large. Curious, Nai had begun to jog back towards the crowd, and was now just beginning to approach it. Everyone seemed quite excited, though she wasn't sure why. She slowed her pace, sweat glistening on her face and arms, as she jogged the last few steps to the crowd. Everyone was chattering, but it was hard to pick up a consistent phrase, so she still couldn't be quite sure what was going on. Shaking her head a little, she bounced back and forth between both heels, trying to figure out what had happened. She could just ask someone, but she felt.... shy? Had she ever felt shy before? She just felt inadequate, like somehow that wasn't appropriate. She could muscle her way through, something she could do easily, but she that definitely[/i[ wasn't appropriate as a candidate. She glanced through the crowd a bit more, trying to spot an opening. There! She had seen one. She moved quickly, weaving back and forth, somehow getting lucky enough not to be cut off or run in to. At the last moment someone bumped into her, and she stumbled, stop just short of the inner edge of the circular crowd. There were little things rolling around. Pillies. She knew the word. They'd been mentioned occasionally when she'd been working as a drudge. She wasn't terribly familiar with them, but she knew they bug-like, and... that was about it. There already seemed to be quite a few Hatched. She wasn't necessarily disappointed. She felt too... shy... to assert trying to get one. But she didn't mind seeing the cute little things pop out of their eggs.
'What is with me today? Shyness... Oh well. Maybe I can still see a few hatch.'
She watched quietly, not joining in in the crowd's conversation, and not trying to hard to jostle forward to try to get one. She just stood calmly, watching. Her mouth was frozen in a neutral position, but her eyes did have the twinkle of a smile to them.

The remaining four pillies seemed to be unsure of which way to go. The brass who had caught Iwa had climbed onto the shore and was a perfectly fine option for the young bugs. They could live a wild life if they so chose, hitching a ride on their father's back. One green, however, was far from enamoured with having the wide, cold lake to roam in. Her beady eyes lifted to the few strands of sun still spilling over the edge of the Weyr. They looked lovely and warm... Even if she knew that she belonged in the water, she sure was fond of this land stuff.
Besides, why would anyone want to freeze their entire life, anyways? She looked over her siblings - both bonded and not - disapprovingly. They all seemed rather daft. Who cared about being regular? Being regular meant cold and wet. Comparatively, being warm was amazing. It felt so safe and nice, like she'd felt in her squishy egg. She just wanted to be comfortable. She wanted to live a life of luxury. She knew that involved picking a human, so she wanted one of those, too.
Spring in her step at the thought of being so cozy all the time, the bright creature pushed onward. There were a lot of humans there with pillies already, and that wouldn't do. They'd hog the heat. She needed a human all to herself. Passing by legs and feet, she became more and more confident in her choice to bond. They radiated warmth! Mammals were lovely things! And finally she spotted one that had yet to earn one of her siblings, and decided to reward it with her own forest green self.
She suctioned to Nai right under her shirt, on her belly where it was coziest. Mmmm, sighed the little heat-seeker. This was the life. [/blockquote]

Nai froze when she felt something crawling up her pant leg, barely able to look down. Finally she managed to look down, only to see a little green pillie climbing up her leg. She didn't move. After a moment it crawled under her shirt, setting on her abdomen. She squeaked, unable to contain herself, feeling the little suction cups attach to her skin. It was warm, and she could feel the little pulse of it against her skin. It was cute, in a bug sort of way. She held up her shirt a little, reaching down and trying to pull it off of her. The suction cups held, and she sighed. "Well, hello there little girl..." she wasn't sure how she knew it was a girl. Oh! She must have Impressed it! She reached down tentatively and began to stroke it, rubbing its hard little head, with her antenna-whisker-things twitching lightly.
Mmmm...[/i] was the only thought process she received from her. She seemed completely satisfied to stay attached to her stomach, against the warmth. It was so wonderful.
"Alright Cozy." she settled on the name. "Lets go back to the Barracks."
She weaved her way through the crowd, keeping her shirt raised above the little Pillie. It felt a little awkward to walk this way, but the reward was more than enough.
