Well yes, it could be a good feeling. But it often wasn't, Midnith figured. After work, he was generally too tired to feel good. But maybe that was just him. He rarely did work, after all. Maybe that contributed to the fact that he was tired after working. Hmm. For a moment, Midnith almost thought about continuing along that train of thought. But naw, it was too much work. Instead, the blue hummed and answered Hydeth. The Weyr would be destroyed if only a few of us did our wing drills, Midnith said, Thread would destroy us. The blue added after a moment, glancing towards the horizon. The blue's head swung towards His when he saw the man begin to make his way away, along with Je'kyll. Why and where? Midnith questioned simply, focusing his multi-faceted gaze on His. We're going to get Je'kyll to try bubbly pies! G'night proclaimed proudly in response, grinning happily at Midnith. Ah. Immediately after that short interchange, G'night turned to face towards Je'kyll, a cheerful smile on his features. "They're more than nice! They're delicious!" The bluerider practically bounced up and down at the thought, looking as happy as ever. This was pretty awesome so far! Je'kyll seemed like a pretty nice guy, even though he hadn't ever tried bubbly pies. That was something that needed to be remedied, but luckily enough, G'night was on the way to fix that! He would ensure that Je'kyll tried bubbly pies if it was the last sharding thing that he did! Je'kyll's next words had G'night tilting his head slightly, curiosity evident in his features. "How did you know that they were any good?" It was a legitimate question, in his mind. How would Je'kyll have known if the food was any good if he only ate things that he knew were good. But how would he have eaten them in the first place if he only ate things that he knew were good? It was hurting G'night's brain![/blockquote]

Hydeth watched Hers intently. It was rare that she liked to see him out of her sight with another in tow but she supposed G’night wasn’t as bad as some. She could probably accept they would not find any trouble. Perhaps the thing she was most concerned about was the fact that Hers may not be as kind as he could be to Midnith’s. Be kind to Midnith’s or you may not feel so confortable in our Weyr anymore.
Turning her gaze back on Midnith she inclined her head at his statements. Well, she supposed that was true enough. Part of her wondered whether she had some instincts that would protect her at least. I suppose it is necessary for all to work together in order to have a home.
There were some she was more willing to work with than others. A number of dragons concerned her in their actions. Working together is, I suppose, something we’ll all have to do in spite of any emotions.
Je’kyll paused and considered the question. It was a good one, really, and he had no idea as to the answer. In all his years he had only eaten the food his parents had fed him. In some ways, he knew that was good food. He’d heard of some things being inherently ingrained into one’s mind. For example, he knew how to identify where wild Whers were based on signs he wouldn’t be able to explain to others. Food, he supposed, was similar. He knew which food was good simply because he had seen it enough times.
Were they actually talking about food?
“Well… I guess it’s just the food I grew up on. I’ve never diverted from that type of food. It just stuck with me and I assumed it was the only good food to eat. Sort of how we know that being touched by Thread hurts yet we have never felt the pain.”
He said it mildly with some distraction in the way he spoke. He’d never admit it to anyone but he was actually distracted by the thought of trying something new. The last time he had done that was when he had agreed to become a candidate… A big change but at least the food had remained the same.

Hydeth's words in response to Midnith were met with a soft, almost completely silent hum. He held the note for a moment, pleased to be engaged in a conversation that allowed the blue to observe more than talk but still add to that conversation. Of course, if that made sense to anyone other than him, Midnith would have been surprised. It is necessary, He stated softly after a moment, dark blue tail flicking slightly before he continued, Though our home is rather . . . special. Midnith added that as an after thought, though he wondered internally for a moment if other homes would require working together for the home to still be there in the morning. It was an interesting thought, but certainly not one that Midnith cared to pursue. Hydeth did have an interesting take on life, Midnith decided, though he took a moment to answer her next words. Working together has always been a necessity at the Weyr. Is it a necessity elsewhere? Midnith hadn't really ever been anywhere that wasn't a Weyr, whether it was Bay or Dalibor. Perhaps Hydeth had and would have an answer for him? It would mean that Midnith wouldn't have to think about it, and as lethargic as he was, that was a pleasant thought to him. He didn't like thinking. Or working of any sort, for that matter. He paused for a moment in their discussion to turn his attention towards His, a soft reminder moving from Midnith's mind to G'night's, No klah. With Hydeth, he had been more verbose than was typical for him, but with His, his words were sharp and short, despite the fact that they were barely more than a mental whisper. Okay, okay, I get it. G'night responded to Midnith, sounding rather like an annoyed child. If he could have stuck his tongue out at his dragon, he would have. Instead, G'night settled himself with sounding very childish and heaving a sigh. He wanted klah! Klah was good! But if Midnith was being that snappy with him, he figured that he probably shouldn't get some. Anyways, with Je'kyll talking again, G'night's attention wandered from his dragon back towards the pinkrider that he was conversing with. G'night definitely had to admit that Je'kyll's answer gave him a bit to think about. How did they know that Threadscore hurt? Well, because other people had said so. And how did those other people know? Had they been Threadscored themselves? Or had they heard someone talking about Threadscore? The bluerider tilted his head slightly, mulling that over silently, "So, people said that it was good and you listened to them? Like how people always say that Threadscore hurts and we believe them?" He was doing his best to link those two (very different) things in his mind, and G'night wasn't sure that it was working out properly. Still, Je'kyll had definitely given him something to think about, at the very least. He was going to be occupied with thinking about that, well, until he forgot. Which, knowing G'night, wouldn't take very long.[/blockquote]

Looking at the older rider Je’kyll could guess that his words were somewhat… Well, nonsensical to say the least. He wasn’t even sure whether he understood what he was talking about. It wasn’t so much that people told him it was good food but that it was something he had never changed. People learned fastest when they were children, it held true that they would perhaps stick to certain things more than others. For him, that was food. For others he imagined it could have ranged from a way of speaking to being unable to move from a home Weyr.
“Well, I suppose so. That’s always been one thing I never wanted to change, the food I ate was always something that remained consistent.”
Trust probably had something to do with it too. He generally trusted his parent’s judgement or those he knew best and would therefore accept that their opinions on food were probably fairly decent. G’night seemed the type who probably couldn’t tell a lie to save his life and probably wouldn’t bother telling one about food anyway…
“As for threadscore… Well, you know not to go out and try to catch it and you know that because it hurts… You know that it hurts because the records of last Fall say so. So with food, something I have been given by another but have not tried I would know it’s good. However, at a feast I will only eat the food I recognise and not try the others...”
He rubbed his head, “That’s starting to hurt my brain…”
Yes, it will be good to work together. Sometimes, however, I find that there are a few who wish to show themselves as better than others and break rank to do so. She snorted her discontent.
There had been a few dragons to do such a thing but she supposed they had learned their lesson. Especially when she tore one of them out of the skies. I assume they’ll learn as soon at Thread begins to fall. Even if they do not, at least when they first get scored they’ll learn the lesson.

G'night tilted his head curiously at the pinkrider's words, mind whirring vigorously. It was hard to think about this. His brain was too hyper to stay focused on one thing for as long as Je'kyll seemed to want him to. But G'night kinda liked Je'kyll so far, so he was going to try as best as he could to remain focused on this! The bluerider gave a little bounce at the thought and grinned widely, "I've always liked to try new foods. Consistency gets boring after a while..." He trailed off for a moment, thinking, but he perked up and hurriedly continued before he could forget what he was thinking about, "But it is nice... Especially when the consistency is stuff like being bonded to a dragon." G'night glanced back at Midnith as he spoke.
Being bonded to Midnith was nice. Even though they weren't very similar. Midnith was lethargic to G'night's energeticness and he was quiet to G'night's loudness. They weren't similar at all. But they were perfect together. G'night loved Midnith! He even had a pretty hide. Of course, G'night wasn't the most unbiased source of information, when it came down to it.
"Couldn't the records of the last Fall be wrong? It's not particularly likely, because so many people would have been Threadscored... Which says something about their wing drills. Wing drills are important parts of Threadfighting, after all!" His mind was wandering and G'night was finding it hard to focus on what he had originally been thinking about. "What if someone likes something and they give it to you but you don't? What if it's their favorite food ever and you think it's really nasty?" The bluerider was confused. Very confused.
Luckily for G'night, though, it seemed to the bluerider that Je'kyll was starting to get confused as well. "Mine too!" He piped up in response, smiling. "It's a lot of thinking about something that's not that important. 'Cause you are going to try bubbly pies!" G'night practically bounced as he walked, looking far too exuberant. The affects of the klah would wear off eventually, but for the moment, he was still far too hyper from his last cup to even think about calming down.
Midnith snorted softly at Hydeth's words, rather displeased by the thought. Those who do so risk the rest of the Weyr's lives. The blue narrowed his eyes slightly for a moment before shaking his head, glancing at Hydeth. The pink was managing to get him to talk quite a bit. Most of it was because she raised rather interesting points. He enjoyed talking with her, which was a rather rare thing for Midnith. He didn't enjoy talking very much. Hydeth wasn't the most talkative, however, which meant that Midnith could watch more than he was talking. Things were balancing each other out. True... And hopefully the scoring will hurt.[/blockquote]

Je’kyll could tell that his words were not only confusing himself but also seemed to be confusing his companion. Smiling faintly, he nodded along with what G’night was saying. In all honesty, he didn’t know how else he could explain it without repeating himself or just forcing his brain to explode. Hence, he came to the conclusion that he was far better letting it drop with what they had discerned than continuing on in a circle. It was a big leap forward for the pinkrider as he usually liked to try to ensure that all knew exactly what he was talking about.
“Well… Change is good too. Without change I wouldn’t have impressed Hydeth at all.”
It was spoken quietly as he realised himself just how close he might have been to not finding Hydeth at all. Truth was, he knew there were a number of things he would have never been able to do half the things he had done. Even coming to Dalibor had taken a while to work towards in his mind. If it had been any other rider whose seemingly harmless pink had dragged another dragon from the skies in a fit of violent rage, well, he imagined they would have left the Weyr without a second thought. Je’kyll, on the other hand, had been almost more concerned about the change than he had been about the incident.
“I don’t think the records could be wrong.” He was loath to even consider that the records the Healers kept could be wrong devoted as he was to his craft. Then again, how devoted could one be to a craft they barely even knew? “But… Yes, bubbly pies…”
Enough of that.
Yes. To risk the Weyr would be to risk the wrath of all whom live there. I’m certain none would want that. For if they did want that and, in fact, risked her new found home things would not be pleasant. She knew those of her colour were supposed to be incredibly friendly and she was! Just not to those who were stupid.
Midnith was most certainly not stupid so there was no need to teach him a lesson. Good! She was sick of teaching dragons lessons. Hopefully she wouldn’t have to do it all that often. Well, perhaps there is some hope for this Weyr at least. I shudder to consider what will happen at Fort.

G'night tilted his head, his mind working quickly away. The hyper bluerider was proud of himself for managing to focus on one thing for so long, but it was mostly because of how interesting Je'kyll was. "Oh, that is true! I guess change and consistency are good... As long as the consistency constantly changes? I dunno." G'night blinked, looking a little confused. While he was managing to focus on what Je'kyll was saying to him, his mind wasn't exactly the sharpest in the drawer. It was too busy bouncing around like a wherry to entirely grasp what Je'kyll was talking about or what G'night was trying to say. "But I still think change is better than consistency... It's a lot less likely to get boring. Except for Midnith, of course." The bluerider tossed an affectionate smile in the direction of his blue.
Je'kyll's next words had the bluerider shaking his head slightly, "I don't think so many records could be wrong. I could see if some of them were wrong, but you wouldn't think that there would be a vast, Pern-wide conspiracy to try and convince us that Threadscores hurt." That was probably because G'night wasn't much of a conspiracy theorist. He liked to believe the happy things in life, after all! the happy things in life were the best. Well, that and klah.
Brightening up immediately when his companion spoke of bubbly pies, G'night bounced up and down in the air, "They're delicious!" He'd said that already, hadn't he? Oops. Oh well! He loved bubbly pies! Almost as much as he loved klah, but Midnith had forbidden him from drinking klah, which was a major downer. Still, it would probably ensure that he could actually sleep through the night, which was a rare thing for G'night. The energy that klah gave him often kept him up late into the night and sometimes into the early hours of the morning as well. G'night kept a very odd sleep schedule, for sure.
And his thoughts rambled a lot, too!
Midnith tilted his head slightly. The wrath of Hydeth would probably be a scary sight, but then again, the wrath of Kalith would definitely be scary. And the wrath of the Weyr is not something that anyone would wish. Midnith nodded, his tail flicking slightly in the air. The blue took a moment to answer his companion, a soft hum escaping him before he did speak, Fort's leadership certainly doesn't seem to be smart. Midnith shook his head slightly, his admittedly bad dragon memory dredging up a few moments during which Midnith had had a very low opinion of Fort as a whole. Of course, he was doing his best to be a bit more . . . ah, politically correct with Hydeth around, and to do this in as few words as possible.[/blockquote]

If he could have done so without drawing attention to it, Je’kyll would have slapped his own head. As it happened, he made do with a mere rub of his eyes and a slight nod. He only nodded because he wasn’t entirely certain what else he could possibly say to get the other rider to see his point of view. Well, there was nothing he could do now unless he took G’night and tortured him until the bluerider agreed with his perspective. Something told him that would not in any way be successful. So he had to merely content himself, for the moment, to move the topic on quickly.
G’night appeared to have taken up his point about the Threadscore and moved on with it. That was certainly a good sign. Perhaps they wouldn’t quite wind up confusing one another again… Then again, conspiracies sure were interesting… What happened if people did try to convince them that Thread hurt? What if, in actual fact, Thread cured ailments for the small price of a brief injury. Perhaps he could find test subjects…
“Indeed. It seems highly illogical but then we would not know the difference. Records may have been lost and we have only the most recent and in tact hides to examine.”
It would certainly be tough to start with but hopefully they would pull through it eventually. Perhaps he would even find some people willing to test his theories about Thread. A couple of Holdless criminals surely would not be missed. The thoughts abruptly frightened him and he pushed them from his mind. Hydeth, noticing the horror interjected briefly; Well of course. It makes sense to experiment. Hopefully you will develop new ways of healing. Do not worry Mine, I will find things for you to examine.
Before he could reply to her, Hydeth turned her cheerful attention back onto the blue. Perhaps they could experiment on the Fort Riders! Of course not. I imagine there are more than a few dragons fiercer than you or I whom would be perfectly happy to take them out.
She thought of telling Midnith her plan but then thought better of it. If they could not find the holdless criminals Hers thought of then it would never come to pass. Fort’s leadership isn’t smart. Lucky I was not born of a Gold clutch for I might have gone between on the sands for their stupidity. She had no qualms about badmouthing her former Queen. She was Kalith’s soldier now and would support the Copper until the bitter end.
