Tinikth had stuck close to Hers's side for the most part, eating what he gave her and looking up lovingly at A'lec. A'lec was watching the remaining dragon and the wiggling egg, wondering what could be in that egg, and who would both go to. He took the offered hand that Analucia held out for him and smiled brightly. "It's always nice to meet any rider." he said back, though he knew what she had meant by the comment. "Pleasure to meet you, Analucia. I'm A'lec, of Pink Tinikth."
Tinikth was working down another piece of meat when Dalahirath asked her the question, causing her to almost choke in surprise. She pulled herself even closer to A'lec, if such was even possible, but still answered a bit nervously, not wanting to be rude. I-I'm good now that I've f-found Mine. Well, n-no, I don't think I did, Dalahirath. B-but I do think it is very meaty. A'lec silently praised his dragon for trying to be sociable, and she reached up to lick his hand with her bloody snout.
Though when Barahath had made his way toward her, she became even more nervous. Her brief experience with the purple was still fresh in her mind. He had meant no harm, and without his help, she probably would've ran out of energy before finding Hers, but he still made Tinikth extemely nervous.
I-I'm finding it w-w-well, Barahath. H-how about y-you? She silently cursed herself for her near constant stuttering from her bad nerves. It made her sound stupid, and she hated herself for doing it. A'lec was still right there beside her. though, in mind and in body, so that made everything better. "Congrats yourself!" A'lec said to the halfhearted greeting, but eturned the compliment anyways.
He, too, began to worry about Laushi. The poor boy had already been though so much, his maulings the least of it all. And there were only two dragons...well one now, as the green chose a girl that he didn't remember meeting, so the chances were slim that the boy would get chosen. Tinikth, at least, was slowly getting more comfortable around a few of her siblings, even laughing a litttle bit at Barahath's silly jokes. It pleased A'lec to know she was trying to make friends.
He turned his head just in time to catch Laushi Impress the last dragon, a very dark colored blue. He cheered loudly for his friend and roommate. Well, once-roommate, unless they managed to be put in the same room together again. "I knew you'd get you one! Congratulations, Laushi!"
With all the dragons Impressed, A'lec smiled proudly as the class recieved their official title. Snowstealers. Once the speech was over, he made his way to where the others were trying on boots and jackets. He managed to find a pair of boots that were a bit too big, and a jacket that was short, but they would suffice until he had his own.
Giving one last look at all the faces of riders, weyrfolk, weyrlings, and unImpressed, he gently picked up Tinikth and followed Kerath into the snow, sticking close to the purple so Tinikth would be as warm as possible.
That was it. It was over rather quickly, T'von thought. All of the dragons Impressed, and there were no fatalities, despite the many maulings that had occurred, particularly to poor Laushi. At least the boy Impressed, though. Sighing, he tried to remember if his own Hatching had been that short. It was much longer for those who had been Standing. Moruluth called as he headed in the direction of the Hatching Sands from his spot nearby the Barracks to fetch His.
I know, dear but still. Hatchings are much too short And his own must have been extremely short, since Kalith alone had clutched nealy three times as much as Naireth had. He made his way down to the Sands and, after a small search, found T'ris and hugged him tightly. "I'm so glad you found your dragon, Teri. Or should I say T'ris. I know you'll take good care of Schrodith." He looked down at the newborn black. "Thank you for choosing him as your lifemate. It means a lot. And just one more thing before I have to go. Schrodith, make sure T'ris stops overfeeding Jelly so much. Because at this rate, that flitt will never be able to fly right."
He said with a laugh and in a tone that let T'ris know that he was only joking, and gave the boy one final hug before calling Cloud to his shoulder and walking towards the entrance where Moruluth was waiting for him. You and I shall meet again very soon, little Schrodith. I hope to become as close to you as Mine is to Yours. After T'von climbed on top of him, he went back towards the Weyrling's barracks to see what Catori had planned for them.

The green dragonet was watched with a healthy dose of skepticism. Fermillionesca held no thoughts that she would actually Impress at this hatching. There were too many candidates and too few dragons. She may be simple, but she wasn't stupid. She could do the math. So she held Raksha's hand tightly and just waited for it all to be over so she could go back and check on her infant firelizard along with the rest of her fair. However, fate seemed to have other plans. The green curled around her feet and stared up with rainbow colored eyes. Fermi held her breath, relinquishing her fellow candidate's hand.
This was like nothing else Fermi had experienced before. Having six firelizards, she knew what a basic Impression felt like to something small, but there was something more encompassing in this. Immediately she felt this new presence in her head, invading every corner of her mind and threatening to take over. At first she pulled away, but the purest of adoration and even love took over and she gave into it. Still, there was something there that fought. It was like her own personality and the personality of her dragon were at odds, shifting back and forth until it found an equilibrium. Where that equilibrium was, neither would ever know, but she would spend the rest of her life figuring it out.
Fermillionesca. Pretty name. Katotohanath and Fermillionesca. That's us. What shall we now, MineOnlyOwn? Oh, I know! Food. Now.
Fermillionesca blinked, then gave a half-smirk. She reached across the boundary between their respective consciousnesses and attempted to speak the first words ever telepathically. I like your name, too... Katotohanath. She couldn't help but be at least a little amused. While she couldn't know for sure about the length of most dragons' names, the ones she did know were not quite as long as Katotohanath's. It'd take their whole weyrlinghood for people to pronounce their names in full! So she laughed, loud and brassy, then put her hand on her hip and raised an eyebrow to the young green.
"Yer hungry, so I'll let ya slide this once." She nudged Kato both mentally and physically, starting their trek off of the sands. "But next time? Ya might wanna ask with a bit more respect, girlie." The green flicked her tail, her equivalent of rolling her eyes, and then continued on down the sands in a haughty sort of way. She made no mention of what Kato had done to Iyakath. There was no need. It wasn't like making the green apologize would do any help. So she left it alone. It was in the past. They had a new future now. So Fermi took Kato to the meat pile and supervised her as she ate, making sure the green didn't eat too much nor too little.
"Thanks, hun. I'm sure your turn's comin'!" Fermillionesca clapped Seven on the shoulder when he offered his congratulations, beaming at him with a toothy smile. "And her name's Katotohanath. Fitting, I think." With that she gave another boisterous laugh. Kato looked up from her eating to wink at Seven.
Everything was happening so fast, though. Soon Fajra was announcing the new "Snowstealers" and their Weyrlingmaster, W'al of purple Kerath, was directing them to get some riding jackets and shoes. She slapped Seven's back affectionately again before making her way over and trying to find a pair that matched her. She finally found a jacket that was a bit big (better than the few she went through that were too small) and a pair of boots that actually fit pretty well, then followed Kerath and W'al out the main exit.
"Guess I'm carrying ya, eh?" Fermillionesca crouched down and opened her arms for her newly bonded.
Pfff... I can walk. The green flicked her tail and was about to walk away when Fermi stepped in front of her with a scowl.
"Weyrlingmaster said I gotta carry you... and that's gonna happen one way or another, sweetheart." She stared down the small dragonet who, for a while, stared right back. Then, with a happy cooing noise, she acquiesced and jumped into her rider's arms.
Fine, FermillionescaOwn. But just this once, mmkay?
Agreed.
As Fajra made the announcement Nimara looked on with a smile on her face. Beside her Waroth was growing restless. Like Kalith, she too wanted to go feed and be away from this cramped space. Since the last Impression of her child, Waroth had been fighting with Nimara to leave. She didn't want to stay there to watch the rest of the spawn of her rival country take away HER candidates. All she wanted to do was eat and sleep on her own ledge in her own weyr. Nimara was likewise tired, but was far more interested in seeing who Impressed. After the healers got everything under control she felt she could breathe lighter, even with a raging red breathing down her neck. Rennin Impressing particularly warmed her heart, especially after all the trouble the girl had been through. She deserved a break.
And so Nimara began to prepare to return home as Waroth crushed the remains of her children's eggs. Enyo popped up, dutiful as always, and then dashed off again as Nimara asked her to relay a message to R'len that she wanted him by her side that night. After the green was gone, her thoughts drifted to other matters. There was another red at Dalibor. She watched Doggarel and Alitaph leave and hoped beyond hope she would see the new redrider at the feast. As one of the oldest redriders at Dalibor, she felt it was her duty to extend a hand in friendship to any young redrider learning to cope with the burden of their new lifemate.
A'lan finished binding Rhikail's wounds and smiled at her to let her join the rest of her class. He picked up his supplies and joined L'kie and Delilah where they would treat the remainder before letting them join their class. Overall, everyone in the hatching caverns seemed to be winding down and moving out. Jaci moved down to where the new Weyrlings were getting new shoes so she might recover her old ones. Irith was chatting excitedly with Jarith about hatchlings and other wonderful things. Up in the stands F'ton and Poseith took their leave as did A'bar and Ablath. C'lin counted the new Weyrlings with a grin, Reyith humming his approval.
S'in, however, had stalked out early... following Faranth knows what.

Tremayne watched with despair as the last dragon passed him by and lay down at the feet of the boy he had nearly been attacked by in the barracks. He had prepared himself for the possibility of disappointment, and yet somehow he could not face it even when faced with the barren sands. He had not impressed. Did that mean he had to go home? His stomach twisted at the thought. I can’t! Not empty-handed! Tears burned his eyes and threatened to make themselves known and thus reveal his immaturity. He was slightly consoled by the fact that Viyeri too had been passed by, and would be secretly grateful for some time afterwards, but for now all he could think of was himself. Of his short-comings. His failure. How sick he felt and how much he just wanted to cry like a little child. It all seemed so unfair.
Even though the Weyrwoman herself had specifically discouraged it, Tremayne slipped out of the cavern and into the blizzard Bowl. Fajra had wanted people to be ferried to as to avoid trudging through the snow, but Tremayne plunged into it. The trek between the Hatching Cavern and the Candidate Barracks was longer than he had expected, but her cherished each belabored, freezing step. The self-loathing had begun, and Tremayne was in rare form already. The excitable, almost friendly boy that had stepped onto the sands not long ago had vanished. It was ridiculous as he knew it, but Tremayne felt rejected and ridiculed even by the dragons. He didn’t know what he would do now with such diminished hope.
When he finally reached the Barracks, he disappeared into his room to lick his wounds. A multitude of dragons through flew the snow overhead, including Eccolath, Sereinth, and even Izkeeyerdeth, all ferrying passengers to and fro. The Weyrleader spoke to the Lord and Lady Holders as they exited, Daidoroth ready to ferry them all to the Dining Hall. D’lios spoke very shortly to O’sho, all the time looking around for Fajra. He eventually excused himself and departed on Perbiath, opting to miss the feast. With the exception of a few crushed souls among the Candidates that remained, there was ample joy in Dalibor.

L’shi had taken Seta’s parting well wishes with a smile and nodded in agreement with the sentiment that Faranth willing Seta would be standing in his shoes the after the next hatching. Not the whole being mauled thing, but the walking off the sands with a dragon part of course. Then just off the sands he managed to secure a bucket of meat for a still concerned Bawith who hovered around his aching legs. Where in between are the healers who were supposed to be giving him a once over…or even treating his injuries the first time for that matter? There had been one out on the sands who addressed him briefly and took a look at his hip…if L’shi wasn’t mistaken the man was about to administer treatment but Bawith had hatched before any actual care had been given.
Rhikail gave him a solemn congratulations and L’shi offered her a nod of gratitude, even if his jaw was slightly clenched due to the discomfort in his hip, down the length of one leg, and in both his knees. ”Thank you, and congratulations to you as well Rhikail.” normally L’shi would have inquired as to what her dragon’s name was or attempted a little happy conversation, but he was in a distracting amount of pain and also preoccupied with trying to feed Bawith at a proper speed. Bawith was preoccupied with trying to convince L’shi he could eat faster and still be alright…without much success. he did pick up on L’shi trying to remember if he had heard what Rhikail’s green was called.
~ Tulath ~
*What?! *[/i] L’shi thought looking at Bawith.
~ My clutchmate who has Rhikail. Her name is Tulath. You were wondering…more please! ~ Bawith opened his jaws wide signaling that while L’shi had paused in confusion trying to figure out what his blue as talking about said blue had finished his meat chunk and was waiting on another. Bawith wasn’t one for chatter so his comment was strait to the point, but it gave L’shi the information he needed.
“Tulath is beautiful.” he finished, now armed with the green’s proper name. It was…a little unnerving to have a back seat passenger to his thoughts but already L’shi could not fathom being without the straightforward little presence in his head.
L’shi became aware of M’dag only when the boy spoke, a sign of how much the pain, trauma and stress had taken out of the green-eyed new Weyrling. Bawith was aware of his purple clutchmate’s approach but as it was not anything to worry about the very large baby blue hatching merely glanced over at his brother while enthusiastically chewing his latest chunk of meat.
”If the Healers clear me I’ll do my best. Thank you, Morndag…that meant a lot to me you know. So, what should I call you now? This little guy has decreed me to be L’shi from now on.” L’shi would have held onto those well wishes tightly indeed if he had been left standing, not because of the disappointment…but because of the sudden loneliness of being left to himself as the few he considered like friends moved forward. It was because Morndag asked that L’shi was making a mental commitment to do his best to make it to the feast regardless of how drained the event had left him.
Bawith was puzzled over Barahath’s comment to him and tilted his head inquisitively at the purple while chewing vigorously ~ What is a bluebird Barahath? ~ he asked trying to understand what Barahath meant.
Altolec called out a congratulations and L’shi shifted his attention to his old roommate with a smile and a wave. Altolec…or whatever he was called now ~ A’lec ~ *What?* ~ Tinikth’s is called A’lec ~ *Ok*…L’shi tried not to chuckle while sending the thought back to his hulking newborn blue …so this was how it was going to be eh? Anyway…A’lec was to far off to speak with at the moment, the other Weyrling was getting geared up to leave..but L’shi knew they would have time to talk later.
While glancing over at A’lec he noticed the one – time –bully Tremayne staggering out into the bowl and felt a sudden rush of sympathy for the husky lad. M’dag was no longer at risk for bulling with a sub-king as his partner, and so L’shi was no longer instinctively aggressive towards the boy…although he still felt that Tremayne’s personality needed some serious work. If he noticed the boy later on, perhaps he would make an effort to restart their relationship on a better footing. Maybe.
