The Weyr needed Healers and Dragonhealers. Badly. They'd been lucky so far, but with so many people in such a small area, disease spread quickly, and the Renegades, war was a constant threat. One Journeyman Dragonhealer with some Healer training and one master Dragonhealer with none was far, far from sufficient for a Weyr, especially with two Weyrling classes and a third and fourth coming very soon. V'lin of Blue Socordiath had said he would be interested in learning how to heal way back before he Impressed, when he was still Vraellin. B'nyur remembered that day particularly vividly because it had been the day he and B'rak had admitted their fondness for each other, a fondness that had grown to love. However, he was going to stick V'lin to his word, now that his dragon was old enough that they had a few spare candlemarks between constant feedings and oilings. He was sure W'al would let him and C'elin substitute some of their chores for lessons in the infirmary.
Oveth was sitting happily in his corner, happy that there would soon be more helpers in the infirmary. He hadn't met V'lin's Blue, either! Or V'lin's friend's dragon! What color did C'o... C'a... V'lin's friend Impress, again?
Oveth asked while B'nyur moved around, tidying up and laying out different bundles of herbs. "Green Upiditath, and V'lin's Blue is Socordiath," B'nyur supplied absently, knowing that the names would be forgotten within minutes. "Upiditath's trouble, though. She's a bigger flirt than that Valleth, even... just ignore her, alright?" Valleth? "Never mind!" B'nyur said affectionately. Happily, though, a young lad from the Healerhall had been Searched and brought to Dalibor very recently as a Candidate. He was a regular Healer, not a Dragonhealer, unlike both B'nyur and A'mor, which was incredibly helpful. He was only a Senior Apprentice, the same rank B'nyur had achieved before switching to Dragonhealing, but he might be able to go back and walk the tables if he didn't Impress at this clutch before returning to Dalibor. He would return. B'nyur would go to the Healerhall and drag him back if the young man (Cadfael, his name was) tried to stay away. They needed him, and dragons were a very good reason to stay. He'd invited Cadfael over to this little lesson, too, so he could get acquainted with everyone at the infirmary (all two of them!), show what he knew, and learn a bit or teach a bit. "Call them, Oveth? Upiditath and Socordiath will be in their weyrs, most likely, and Cadfael, in the barracks. They'll be expecting this lesson," B'nyur asked, placing the last bundle of freshly-picked needlethorn (courtesy of three of the other Candidates) on the counter. Oveth nodded, staying in his comfortable position on one of the couches. Upiditath, Socordiath, this is Oveth. Mine would like to see Yours in the infirmary so Yours can learn to be Healers! Oveth said enthusiastically, mercifully remembering the names for a few seconds. "Cadfael," B'nyur reminded the Blue. Cadfael, would you come to the infirmary? Mine is a Dragonhealer and we want to meet you, and we're having a little lesson now!"

Cadfael, would you come to the infirmary? Mine is a Dragonhealer and we want to meet you, and we're having a little lesson now! The words startled the Healer-lad. He'd actually been enjoying the chance to read, for once. And something besides a sharding textbook, actually a letter from home - Mum was so proud of him, it was almost ridiculous - or, the ridiculousness could be her saying that he should still try for a Mastery. Even if he Impressed. He was just hoping to manage Journeyman at this rate. Well, he was called. He might as well get a move on.
The Candidate stole a glance at his best friend and current bunk-mate, hair flopping down towards the ground as he flipped his head down from the top bunk. Good. Rem was still asleep - or unconscious.
At this rate, they were getting to mean the same thing for the Harper. Cadfael climbed down nimbly, and quickly bound a short leather tether along the head of the lower bunk, tying his friends two wrists together. It certainly wouldn't hold him long. But it just might slow him down a tad. Or at least get him so interested in figuring out who did such a deed that he might actually be back from this meeting before Remsey was out and about the general public. Unless, of course, he just did something like pull a knife out of his boot - nope, boots were off, and all he was in was a nightshirt. His clothes and shoes were moved a good distance away all the same. Better safe than sorry, and better that than having to explain what ever occurred to the nearest authority figure. That was for certain.
The blond set off at a slight jog, remembering the layout well enough to find the Infirmary quick enough. His steps slowed as he approached, and checked himself over. He wasn't vain, but it wouldn't be good to appear all beraggled in front of those who would likely be his 'Masters' for a good length of time. Hair was neat enough as it ever was, the slight hole in the bottom of his tunic was excusable, considering it was from Rem's latest attempt at - well, what Cadfael wasn't quite certain. But it could eat through fabric at a rapid rate. Still hadn't had a chance to patch it. Boots and breeches were well enough. As long as he didn't have a long line of dirt on his face, his hands were clean, or they would be, once he washed them.
Walking in, the Infirmary seemed tidy - and occupied by only one man, and a laid out grouping of different herbs. Fresh numbweed, needlethorn, rotroot... and was that a fellis tree?
"Hello, sir? I'm Cadfael, your dragon called for me."

What B’nyur thought of as luck may be considered it… But in A’mor’s personal opinion, it was nothing of the sort. Luck meant good things, and being worked off of his ass wasn’t anything the Grayrider believed to be lucky. If they had more people, or more diseases, or more injuries, perhaps Fajra would take notice and send for more Healer’s – but the Weyrwoman was slightly busy with running a Weyr and taking care of a small child, so it usually meant the two of them running the Infirmary. He didn’t actually spend much time with the man, to tell the truth.
He and B’nyur left notes more often than not, of the patients that had been in that day, of the problems they had had, of what needed to be stocked up – more of that was passed than actual conversation. Some of the non-rider’s worked in there, but they were midwifes or candidates and weyrlings doing chores. Enough of the lower cavern workers had basic healer training that it meant they were still on normal sleep patterns, only wakened when something big happened.
Of course, it didn’t help that the two certified Healer’s in the Weyr were a Journeyman Dragonhealer with Senior Apprentice ranking in Healers – though to be honest he probably had learned enough to go for his Journeyman’s, and a Masterdragonhealer with only a turn of apprenticeship as a healer. Mind you, learning from people and B’nyur, to be fair he was at Senior Apprentice level – but that didn’t matter. What mattered is A’mor liked to work – but back at Southern, he wasn’t nearly as pushed as he was here. That’s because Southern had more than two Healers. Noyth, ever the chatty Gray, had decided to add in her comment. How lovely.
A’mor was sulking, sitting in his weyr with a thin flute of wine and debating drinking it. It was a lovely brand, and he ever so wanted it… But B’nyur had mentioned something about new Healer’s, training them, and his moral sense – not that he had much of it – was telling him that it would be bad. So he was sulking, staring at the wine and debating what one glass would do. Nothing. He glanced at the Gray, who had decided to be involved. He loved Noyth with his life, but Gray’s were the quietest of the dragons – and she was no exception. She only spoke to him, and she only said things when they needed to be said. “Fantastic, than I can drink it!” She shifted, turning her back on him, and he scowled over at her. Nothing to you. B’nyur would not be pleased.
“Shaffit.” He plunked the glass down, rising and running a hand through tawny blond hair so it almost stood on end. “That’s fan-fricken-tastic. If these turn out to be duds, these weyrlings will rue the day they stepped onto Dalibor.” The Gray rose with him, daintily mincing over to the ledge to meet him. You will be polite. Or I will eat you. He vaulted onto the Gray, pleased that she wasn’t as big as some of the other dragon’s out there – she was still big, mind you, compared to him, but next to a Queen she looked like a dragonet. “Eat me? Then what, go between and never torture another person?” She spread her huge wings out and grabbed the air as she took off for the short flight down to the infirmary. Of course not. You’ll still be with me – just quieter, in my belly. He only rolled his eyes. “Lovely.”
They handed a few moments later, Noyth following after him daintily to curl up next to Oveth. She liked the Blue – he was much sweeter than Her’s. Good morning, Oveth. A’mor collapsed on a cot moodily, still not happy about the fresh meat – he spent enough time cleaning up the Infirmary, he wouldn’t be doing it after brats. “B’nyur…” But he was cut off by the young man who had entered in the human entrance, not the dragon one. Opps, should have been paying attention. ‘Hello, sir? I'm Cadfael, your dragon called for me.’ He looked him over, noted that this was a non-rider and he had no idea who he was, then turned back to the Bluerider.
“You’re much better with kids then me – you actually like them. Why torture me with this? I have a bottle of Benden from at least thirty turns ago, and I’ll share it with you if you just let me get out of this.” Nevermind that his Master’s status said this was part of his job, or that Noyth wouldn’t let him leave – he was going to complain until something more interesting happened.

Oveth's summons, V'linMine. Socordiath lifted his head slowly, jaws opening wide in a yawn as he blearily looked to the side, staring at the brunette as he oiled flight straps. The scarred teen glanced up at the voice, tilting his head as he tried to remember who the dragon was speaking of before his lips spread into a smile and he nodded, rising to his feet.
It took a few minutes for him to finish up with the straps and harness Socordiath, taking a moment to change into something a little more appropriate, shrugging on his flight jacket as he did. Socordiath--nestled on his ledge with his legs tucked beneath him--waited patiently as the boy scurried up his neck, and he leaped into the air, snapping his wings open.
A few minutes later, V'lin hesitantly stuck his head through the infirmary door, Socordiath following suit with an amused look in his eyes. "You...called, B'nyur?" The weyrling mumbled, taking a look around the room to catch sight of a Candidate(he assumed) he didn't know, and a Grayrider he'd seen, but never met. Absently he worked his jaw, looking warily about at the two. But with a soft smile and a soothing sensation from Socordiath, he lifted his chin and strode into the room, standing before the Bluerider with a shadow of confidence.

Mineminemineminemine! Oveth is calling! Oveth! Upiditath urgently told Her's, nudging at the blond and almost knocking him off his feet. Oveth? What does he want? C'elin responded, looking up from what he'd been doodling. There wasn't much to do when they didn't have lessons, so C'elin was simply scribbling over a few spare notes he had. He wasn't very artistically talented, so it really was just scribbles of boredom. A lesson! He wants to teach us to heal! Upiditath said excitedly, wiggling all over. C'elin sighed and shoved the spare papers in a drawer, then walked over to Upiditath and got her ready to fly. It didn't take long, and soon she was soaring through the air and it took a lot of C'elin's control over her to get the Green to change course and head to the Infirmary. She liked flying and showing off, and she had a lot of stamina for a little Green. That along with her beauty, as she was quite a pretty dragon, was going to make her flight... interesting. Certainly not for C'elin, though, who was dreading that the most out of everything. If only they could be Weyrlings forever... but C'elin doubted that intentionally failing his exams would stop Upiditath from flying... and he also doubted if W'al would even let him fail, even if he tried. Anyway, C'elin finally arrived at the infirmary. Upiditath was quick to greet all the dragons assembled there. Hi Noyth! she greeted the Gray cheerfully, but dropped her voice to a low, flirty purr as she greeted the other two. Helloooo~~ Oveth, Socordiath. It was just a simple greeting, Hers couldn't yell at her for being nice! Luckily for her, C'elin was more focused on greeting the people there as well. There was a Candidate, as well as V'lin and the two Healers that C'elin had seen of and heard of, but had never actually met. He'd never really had a reason to come down to the Healers, as clumsy as he was, he'd yet to have a serious injury. "Hi V'lin," he said to his friend with a small smile as he walked up next to the Bluerider. He was glad that V'lin was also interested in being a Healer, it made things a lot easier for him. Upiditath wasn't suited for fighting, and he doubted she even wanted to flame thread. She was too happy and easily distracted, he was sure they'd get into some sort of serious accident with Upiditath either getting distracted by all the males around her or by her trying to show off for them. They were much better off preventing accidents, rather than causing them. "Hello, B'nyur, A'mor, um...." he didn't know of the Candidate's name, so he trailed off awkwardly with a small laugh. "Sorry, I didn't hear your name," he muttered quickly, "But, um, sorry for being late, B'nyur," he added, feeling slightly awkward at being the last to arrive.[/blockquote]

"B'nyur!!" Panic, loud and clear, rang in the speaker's voice as he rounded the corner, bursting into the infirmary with clearly no indication of even beginning to notice the "class" gathered there. Sweet brown eyes were wide with worry and pain, and long arms were streaked with blood, leaving a trail of red behind the Sr. Weyrling as he dragged his accomplice in behind him.
With no regard to the opinions of his capture, F'let scurried across the room, avoiding the dragons as he came in front of B'nyur, turning R'ori around insistently. "He's bleeding! And, its a lot! I mean, I'm bleeding too but--" Breaking himself off, the blackette's brows knit and he set to gnawing on his bottom lip, clinging to the larger boy's arm like his life depended on it. Considering he was convinced R'ori was going to die of blood loss any minute--even though it was F'let who had had a shell slice into a vein on his arm--he might have very well thought his life depended on it.
"Can you fix him, B'nyur?"

While F'let might not have noticed the gathering of dragons that probably signaled something was going on in the Infirmary, R'ori sure did. He felt his face grow hot and he was sure it was bright red, and even with the pain in his back he was fully ready to turn around and run. But Vediameth's thread still hung in his mind and he reluctantly allowed F'let to drag him forward with a yell, and then allowed himself to be manhandled and turned around to show the Healers his back. Sharding eggshells! This was B'nyur's fault in the first place! But R'ori wasn't going to place blame.
It was then that he noticed the four others gathered there. Two Weyrlings from the Renegade clutch, a Candidate, and the other Healer that R'ori could only assume was A'mor. They didn't really have that many Healers in the Weyr. He let out an exasperated sigh, but winced at the motion. It was starting to really hurt, and the blood was still dripping from his cuts. "It's not that bad. Really," he assured F'let, "I'll be fine, they're no worse than yours," he added, as though he could distract the others from staring at him and his back because shard it, everyone knew of the eggs on his bed and everyone would know exactly what they had been interupted with and... oh, no, that meant everyone was going to think he was the woman in the relationship. Which he couldn't deny there was a relationship, but R'ori was absolutely certain he was NOT going to be the girl. F'let had taken the initiative, sure, but... the Weyr wasn't going to see it that way. R'ori cursed again in his mind, and he only looked even more embarassed.
R'ori was really, really regretting the decision to come here, though Vediameth was rather satisfied. You just like seeing me embarassed like this, don't you? he accused angerly, though the Green simply played innocent, and she very well might have been. Of course not. I was concerned for you... the others being there is just an added benefit. Thanks. Now we're going to have to put up with the entire Weyr's teasing. The pale green dragon simply chuckled and didn't say any more. R'ori sighed again, trying to avert his eyes away from the stares of the others. His glare clearly said one thing, they'd better not laugh at him.[/blockquote]
