Rethalt turned his head lazily, and gave a tired smile to the two Candidates. ”Nah, I’m good. Besides, I’ve gone through worse,” he chuckled, then stared at them each in the eye. ”Please, do continue with the tour. I, unfortunately, will stay here for the remainder of the night.” With that, he turned his head back to face the ceiling and releasing a small sigh. It felt good to be in his room at a decent time.
However, even though he seemed calm and serene on the outside, his emotions were like a wildfire, threatening to burst forth on his cheeks. I can’t believe I did such a stupid thing! Shards! he cursed at himself, mentally hitting himself. A tinge of scarlet slithered onto his features, which caused him to turn to the opposite wall. He felt vulnerable. Almost as if one of them could look at him like an open book. If anything had taught him at all, it was that emotions can ruin your chances at what you are trying to accomplish. With that in mind, he turned back to his friends with a blank face.
”So, I hope you find a suitable room for Frino, Wrynri,” Rethalt said, his chocolate eyes slowly closing. He was so… Tired. Letting his eyes slip shut, he quickly fell asleep to be awakened again by a cold rush of air. The boy sat up quickly and shook his crimson hair to see his companions still at the door frame. ”How long was I out?” he asked meekly. Now he definitely felt embarrassed as the deep scarlet washed over his face.

Quite true, for Wrynri remained standing there in Rethalt's room when the boy had passed out, for reasons he couldn't adequately explain. Though the boy admitted to being needless of medical assistance, Wrynri feared for the moment that he might not get back up.
To Rethalt's comments made before he was out, Wryrni had not replied. His face had actually remained almost stern and certainly defiant. He wasn't going to continue the tour and leave one of his precious friends to rot and he was certain that Frino wouldn't do the same. What he had done was glance to Frino with that determination, a one look that might as well have said 'forget it, you can go ahead if you wish, but I'm staying.' He met no ill will yet he was worried. It was a rare feeling that he wasn't accustomed to, so it started to edge on passion. Since he had gotten here...no...since two turns ago, Wrynri hadn't made any friends. He had been alone, brooding over what he was and what he was supposed to be. No one wanted to go near the volatile kid. Now, when he finally seemed to be getting along with people, a silly injury could end their first meeting so short that it left the kid hungry for more. The glaces he gave were fierce, much like a Queen protecting her clutch. When Rethalt began to wake only then did his expression soften into that of concern. His icy blue eyes became airy. To the boy's question, Wrynri gave a small smile in relief.
"Welcome back, to the land of the living."
He had been leaning against the wall, seeming to search briefly for any indication of time passage. When he couldn't find one, he decided to guess. "About a candlemark, I'll wager. Feel a little better?" His voice was uncharacteristically pleasant, only so because so many people heard discontent behind his tone so often that anything else was practically unbelievable.

"Leave? Without you? I think not." Frino grinned lazily, his eyes widening, in mock surprise as he glanced in Wrynri's direction. The other wher Candidate didn't look much inclined to leave, either. He couldn't say he blamed Wrynri, though. Rethalt was a good companion, and he provided some nice entertainment, even if he wasn't very entertaining right then, wiped out as he was. Frino didn't blame him, though.
He grinned again, "I'm sure I will. Rooms aren't that important, though, so I don't mind waiting around a bit, anyways." See? He hadn't sounded all that bad. Well, hopefully, anyways. This being up late was catching up with him. Frino was going to be sleeping pretty darn late the following day.
It hadn't seemed like much time had passed when Rethalt stirred again, and Frino had hardly noticed the other boy falling asleep. He'd been rather distracted by listening carefully around to see if he could hear anyone in their rooms. He couldn't hear anything, and the silence was deafening, at least until Rethalt spoke meekly. "Not all that long, nope." he shook his head quickly after Wrynri spoke, voicing his concern for Rethalt as well. He would've asked the other boy if he was feeling better, too, if it wouldn't have sounded like he was copying Wrynri.

Rethalt let the scarlet fade to nothing, and began to sit up slowly. His head throbbed at the motion, but he wasn’t about to let the tour take an abrupt stop. Letting out a quiet sigh, he managed to seat himself onto his rear and stare at the two gratifyingly. ”I’m fine. Thank you for staying with me,” he said, genuinely relieved that people care for him rather than his own kin. Giving each a broad grin, he stood up quickly, only to collapse onto his bed, holding his head between his hands. ”Sorry, just dizzy…” he mumbled, chuckling at his stupidity. Even when he thought his mind was clear, it was obvious that bashing his head had scrambled his thoughts entirely, fooling his brain into doing a completely sudden movement.
He gradually picking himself onto his feet, he finally took steps towards his friends. The steps were hesitant, and were carefully placed to attempt to maintain some control and balance. No matter what, he wasn’t planning on falling at the current hour. Nighttime was good for him, and he should be alert, not groggy! He shook his crimson hair from his vision. However, he hadn’t realized that his foot was tangled in his furs, and managed to trip over it and fall onto Wrynri and Frino.
So much for feeling fine.

On instinct and impulse alone Wrynri reached out to catch the falling boy, though his own frame was not built to combat the force of gravity and had his stance lacked foundation, he might have fallen forward as well. No, he had sustained, straining with his barely muscled arms to keep the floor from claiming his friend. Rethalt was in worse condition than he wished to let on. That or simply clumsy. Not everyone could tread carefully in the dark anyhow. Wrynri was rather accustomed to both night and day. After running away from home, he spent a couple of nights out on his own in the middle of nowhere, practically. Indoors it wasn't easy; there were no stars to brighten the atmosphere even the slightest. The light of nearby glows did whatever job they could from whatever angle they were positioned. They were to be grateful for it, or at least until mishaps such as these occur.
"Should have sat up for a bit first," the kid said, his pitch somewhat higher than usual. His strength was quickly dwindling as he tried to help Rethalt back on to his feet. "If Frino doesn't mind we can save the tour for tomorrow, if you still need time to recover." Wrynri didn't mean to split from the two in that fashion. At least with this timing there was a future arrangement in the works. Now that he finally got over that tough first hurdle and made friendship, Wrynri wanted to keep it. He was already forgetting his initial discomforts and even his wariness when first meeting Rethalt.
That wouldn't mean that the hardship would come to a close. Wrynri was still the same insecure kid he had always been. Current events have curtailed his brooding schedule, so now he was in the sort of state that he might have been if he was any other normal kid. He hadn't quite realized however how much he worried for Rethalt or desired to remain with the two boys that were nearly comrades to him. Another odd thing that went overlooked was the fact that Wrynri made any physical contact with someone out of his own free will. Had he not known the boy, he might not have reached out to catch him. After his attempts to make Rethalt stable again, he might just acknowledge it.

Frino nodded, even though Rethalt didn't look fine. He looked more like he'd just hit head on something and still hadn't quite recovered, which, considering the circumstances, wasn't that odd. "Just dizzy?" he sounded more than a little skeptical, but Frino managed to resist any other comments. "Are you sure you're okay?" Frino was vaguely concerned and a little worried about Rethalt.
Forcing back a yawn, Frino watched as the dark form of Rethalt began to advance towards them. The steps were hesitant, and, Frino applauded inwardly. Yup, didn't look like Rethalt was being stupid or hasty yet.
And then the other boy began to tumble forward.
A little slow on the uptake, Frino reached forward to attempt to take a share of Rethalt's weight after Wrynri had already caught the other boy. "You okay?" he spoke a few seconds after Wrynri had, pulling his hands back as he did so.
It looked as if Wrynri had it covered, and Frino wouldn't have been much help, anyways.
There was hardly time to breath before Wrynri spoke again, "Naw, I don't mind waiting one bit." he shrugged carelessly, as if to show that really, he didn't care. "And it might be better to have it in the morning, anyways..." At least then, Rethalt might be able to see.
Well enough to not kill himself, anyways. Laughing quietly to himself, even though the situation didn't really need any laughter, Frino decided that these two weren't so bad.

A yelp of surprise formed in Rethalt’s throat, but was cut before it escaped as Wrynri caught, and Frino slightly supported, his thin frame. Only then did he realize he was a good few inches taller than his two comrades. He allowed a cross between a sigh and a groan overcome him as he straightened himself back up. I’m guessing my masquerade just fell, he thought before he let his chocolate gaze fall onto the two’s faces. ”I’m still a bit sore, but other than that, I’m all right,” he confessed, gingerly rubbing the back of his head where it made impact with the blasted wall. Turning to his bed, he bent down and picked up his furs before slumping onto the cot. ”Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be good as new.”
The boy didn’t have much time to think through his words as they somewhat slurred together as a light drowsiness swept over him. As a relieved sigh fell through his lips, Rethalt fell fast asleep, pulling the furs tightly about him. He had met two new friends that were both Wher Candidates, and that had made his emotions soar. In the twilit hours of the night befell the trio, a happy warmth curled itself softly around his heart.
((I think it’s about high time this thread came to a close after a two week break, don’t you agree?))
