Lio stood in the crowd, looking around for someone he was suppose to be meeting up with. He was not sure who she looked like, but Lio was not going to stand a lady up. Mikidith, despite the big Brown becoming very depressed too, was trying to stay as cheerful as he could. He had found a few people for Lio to hang out with and maybe to find some interest with. Lio had cursed Miki for doing this until the Brown explained that neither he nor the Rider should be so depressed as they were. But Lio... whenever he thoughts wandered to them... he would begin to cry. Even the Renegades had found love and weyrmates and he... he would always be considered the friend or a big brother figure. He hated it! He wanted someone to curl up with and feel their warmth in his arms. Miki, feeling his Rider`s pain, had done his best to help his Rider.
Lio had woken up that morning and, with Miki`s prompting, the Rider had taken the time to clean up and look better. The small shadow of a beard was shaven off, his hair cut a little and combed out neatly, and he wore fresh, clean clothes. Now he was standing in the middle of a crowd, wearing his Wingsecond Rider`s jacket, and waiting for someone. Mikidith had informed this Rider`s dragon that Lio would be waiting near the wine tents, wearing his Wingsecond`s jacket, and waiting for them. Lio was looking for someone with dark hair. Lio sighed and looked down at the ground, watching the feet of people walking around him. Maybe he was better off just getting a Fire Lizard, but that was not necessarily the warm body he was looking for. He sighed. He hope that Miki was not accidentally setting him up for disappointment again.

Lin wasn't exactly sure what she was getting herself into. Whatever had prompted her to be more outgoing than usual in her early days at the Weyr had long since passed, and she was her usual independent self, but with a talkative, outgoing dragon. It was mostly Memnorooth's fault that she was doing this - this blind date thing. The green seemed quite insistent that it would be great fun, despite frequently forgetting what a 'blind date' even was. She'd even, upon Lin's getting ready to leave, reminded her lifemate not to forget her blindfold. Lin was a few minutes late, after explaining to Mem why she didn't need one.
Remember, LinMine! Wing Coat! Right? Is that it?
Wingsecond Jacket, Lin corrected, sounding lackluster.
Yep, that's it. Ohhh, LinMine, be happier! I'm sure he'll be a great big pretty bronze, yes. You deserve a big pretty bronze, LinMine!
She let the green chatter on in her mind, quite used to drowning it out by now. She loved the green intensely, but it was a hassle to get her to stop rambling. And ramble, Mem did, even as Lin got farther and farther away from her and further into the crowd of people. Subconsciously, she started wondering if this bronze would be her knight in shining armour -- oh, no, wait. That was just Memnorooth talking. Still, though, the mystery had Lin going a little. Maybe this would be a very good thing? Maybe something amazing would come from it.
"Only one way t'find out," she told herself, and kept her eye out for this fabled Wingsecond jacket. Soon enough she spotted him, near the wine tents as told. At least, she thought it was him - he had the Wingsecond jacket on at least. Memnorooth felt her rider's distraction. Oooooh, do you see him? Yay, LinMine! Gogogo!
With Mem's enthusiasm half encouraging her, and half making her nervous, she approached the rider. As she wove through the crowd, she adjusted her nice, patterned bandanna, holding back her dreadlocks. She was also wearing a shirt with short sleeves (more sleeves than usual), and her nice riding boots.
She gave Lio a nervous, crooked smile that had its own sort of charm. "'Ello? I think ah'm looking for you...?" [/blockquote]

Lio turned and looked at Lin as the young Weyrling spoke to him. He was not the Rider of a big, pretty Bronze that Memnorooth imagined, and he would probably be sent further into depression if he had heard the Green`s words. He was simply Lio, Rider of Brown Mikidith. He smiled lightly at the young woman, wondering if she was the young lady that she was suppose to met. He quickly woke Mikidith up with his mind. Is this the young lady you wanted me to meet? Lio asked, still looking at Lin as he spoke. Mikidith caught the sight of the girl from Lio`s mind and rumbled lightly, reconizing her and happy to see that his Mine was going through this. Yes, that is her. Now, you go have a good time with her. Offer her something to drink, eat, something. You need to have fun and I am sure she will help you get over your depression. Lio mentally sighed. Miki was only trying to help, but he was starting to worry that the Brown was setting him up for disappointment again. He rather hope not. He really needed help to get over this depression.
"Hello," Lio replied to Lin, quickly looking her over so he could remember her face in the future, whether they become friends, something more, or they happen to see each other again. "I think I have been waiting for you as well. My name is Lio, Rider of Brown Mikidith, Wingsecond to R`len. I, uh, I hope I have not kept you waiting too long," Lio replied. He shifted his weight to his other foot so his feet would not go to sleep on him with the constant standing from waiting. "And, uh, I hope my dragon did not make you feel awkward by setting this up between us. He is just concerned about me and my health as of recently..." And you mental well-being! "...so you do not have to do this if you do not want to," he said, giving her the option to do whatever she wanted to do. The last thing he wanted to do was force her to do something she did not want to do. But, deep down, Lio kind of hoped she would be willing to spend some time with him. Lio did not want to be set up for disappointment, but he did acknowledge the fact that he was craving some kind of attention.

(Quick note: Mem meant that LIO should be a bronze. XDD Silly Mem.)
As Lio stumbled his way through a greeting, complete with options to leave and go home, Lin just grinned and laughed. She stuck her hands on her hips in good humour. "Bit of a downer, aren'tcha? C'mon, cheer up. Sounds like yer dragon's got a good reason t'be worried. See, ah'm not goin' anywhere." She dropped her arms down. "Promised mah baby girl ah'd do this. Though, she ain't much of a baby anymore... Pretty shardin' big. I need a tad of a break, too, I guess... Being a Weyrling's a busy life. Almoooost done with it, though."
She was surprised at how she was just opening up like this and talking away. She hadn't exactly been in a sociable mood before. It was probably just painful to see the poor guy so down in the dumps, so did what she could, which was talk. Hopefully it would make him feel more comfortable. And if it worked the opposite way, well... oops.
"Oh, ah'm Lin, by the way," she threw out, realizing she knew his name and he didn't know hers. "Senior Weyrling of Green Memnorooth." [/blockquote]
