He couldn't believe it! One moment she was there, sitting on the table beside him, and then she was gone!
H'toMine, this is Dia we are talking about. She always does this, Lanith spoke softly, dozing in the warmth outside.
H'to sighed and looked down at the bright green Fire Lizard that he held tightly now. She looked very proud of herself, but H'to was less than happy with her. It had taken him all morning to find her, only to find her in the kitchen, causing problems, and covered in something that looked and smelled alot like animal fat. She was slimey to the touch, and that only made H'to less pleased with her.
With Dia tight in his grasp, and a rag over his shoulder, H'to sat back down at a table and began to clean the unwanted substance off of the little green firelizard.
''Why must you do this, Dia?'' He asked the litte green, who only looked up at him with happy eyes and chirrped at him. H'to couldn't stay mad at the little creature, and was soon grinning as he cleaned her up.
''You are worse than a two turn baby, Dia,'' He muttered as he pat her head.
That's Fire Lizards for you, H'toMine. I told you you were setting yourself up for trouble,
H'to sighed and laughed softly at Lanith's comment. He did not reply, for he knew that Lanith loved the Flitter, just as much as he did, and there was no changing that.
Dia chirrped again and looked around, wanting more attention than just that of H'to. ''Please, No, Dia. I look foolish enough right now.'' He could only imagine what people were thinking as he cleaned an odd gel like substance off of a firelizard.

Quiet please, there's a lady on stage. She may not be the latest rage, But she's singing, and she means it. And she deserves a little silence.
For once, Sonia wasn't working. It was a Christmas miracle, though only a few people would know her well enough to be able to be surprised. She was good at keeping to herself. Small and meek, she skirted the edge of the dining hall. Lumps hung off her body, twined about her neck and arms. A closer examination would have revealed them to be a horde of flitters, but all of them looked sleepy, only half awake after candlemarks of lounging out under Rukbat's rays. However, they were beginning to stir, even as she tried to keep them quiet as she made her way amongst the tables, seeking food. Nothing she could do would keep white Olya from rising though. He raised his head and looked about with blatant curiosity. He spotted another flitter and let out a trilling cry to the distant green, only to be hushed up a very sleepy, tired gold Eulo.
After glancing towards the flitter and her handler, Sonia paused. She didn't mean to do that, but she saw that the green looked to be a mess. Firelizards were the only thing that could prompt her interference. Experience had taught her that people didn't mind if she helped with their flitters, as long as she didn't try to bother them about anything else. Cautiously, she approached the rider and his pet. "It helps if you use water, sir. The fat starts to congeal when it loses heat. Flitters ain't too cold, but their hides are great for getting sticky." Normally, the shy candidate spoke fairly proper, but she was nervous, just barely sticking to her manners. She shifted awkwardly, avoiding looking at the rider. She focused on his lovely green, carefully shushing her still stirring fair. Their weight on her limbs hardly bothered her. She was used to it.
Quiet please, there's a person up there, Who's singing of the sins that none of us could bear, To hear for ourselves, Now give her your respect if nothing else.

H'to had looked up as soon as he had heard footsteps approching. Dia let out a sqeal of excitement and began to wiggle happily.
''Dia, Please!'' H'to growled softly to the light green Fire Lizard as he tried to get her to calm down. Once the green firelizard calmed down with a heavy sigh, he looked back up at the Candidate.
''Yeah, I think I might have to throw her into the lake at this rate,'' He muttered with a small smile. Dia looked up at him with loving and curious eyes. ''Though, by the looks of things, you do know more about the devious little creatures than I do,'' He eyed her bunch of fire lizards with a slowly growing smile. She had quite a group with her. He didn't understand how she could deal with THAT many of the creatures.
Silently, H'to imagined having seven little Dias with him all the time and shuttered. There was no way he could do that.
''I don't mean to be rude, But why would you have so many Fire Lizards? I can only imagine having that many trouble makers,'' He shot Dia a look, making her chirp and lower her own gaze away from his. Dia's skin was shiney now from a layer of fat that would not wipe away, making her slippery. She started to wiggle again, making it hard for H'to to hold onto her.

Through the highs and lows, As seasons come and go, You never fail, Day after day.
Sonia offered no reply his comments about throwing his flitter in the lake or her own experience with such matters. She only bothered to speak when he asked her a direct question. While he said that he didn't want to be rude, she knew he wanted an answer. That was why people asked questions. She paused for a moment, shifting initially in a nervous fashion. While normally going unnoticed was best, making others feel awkward worked well too. "They just picked me." It was the simple answer, the one without any history behind it. She had never wanted more than one or two, but then she'd ended up with four and then five and then six and seven. She loved them all, but she hardly knew how to properly express that to others. Her fair was hers, the only thing she would defend with her life. Living, just surviving, was more important than all else.
"I'm Sonia, sir;" she added hurriedly, hoping that introducing herself might distract him from any further questions. She focused on Dia in the bluerider's grasp, wiggling about. Her flitters watched the little green too, quiet except for occasionally offering croons as they began to come awake. "I can wash her, if you like, or help. The others would be happy to lend a hand. She seems like a little darling." The candidate, shy and quiet in her manner, was much more comfortable talking about flitters than about her past. How she had gotten her fair was. Not. Important. Her mind growled out the words, though they stayed far from her lips. Eulo glanced at her but remained quiet. The gold wanted to go back to sleep. Sonia reached up to give the Queen a scratch, keeping her eyes focused downward. They showed her antagonistic guardedness too easily.
Day after day, You are the same, Day after day, You remain.

H'to nodded at her answer. ''I understand,'' He muttered. He could tell that she didn't want to go into detail, and it was not his place to make her. He let out a sigh and finally gave up on getting the goop off of the green Flit. ''Good enough,'' He sighed as he let the still shiny with grease flitter go.
Dia lept from H'to grasp and into the air. She chattered loudly and dove at H'to's head twice with slight frustation, then just did circles around the room.
''I'm H'to of Blue Lanith. It's a pleasure to meet you, Sonia.'' He smiled and nodded to her.
''And that won't be needed. I wouldn't trouble you with my own....Problems,'' He shot Dia an annoyed glance.
''Though, she is a sweetheart, She just is too wild sometimes,'' He sighed. In the back of his mind, Lanith laughed slightly as His Rider's words about the green creature.
H'to laughed slightly. ''Sometimes, I am thankful that I have a Blue dragon,'' He stretched and stood up.

Oh, I'll twine with my mingles and raven black hair, With the roses so red and the lilies so fair, And the myrtles so bright with the emerald dew, The pale and the leader and eyes look like blue.
"Nice to meet you, sir;" Sonia diligently said. She responded to each thing he said in turn and in like. "As you wish, sir." If he didn't want her help, he didn't have to have it. She had offered assistance to be polite and stay out of trouble. People didn't hurt people who were willing to play by the rules. "Flitters are wild creatures;" she said after a moment. It wasn't really entirely directed at him. It was half a reminder to herself, even though she already knew that to be true more than most others. Her fair was like a pack of wolves. She was the alpha. The puppet master, at least, since Eulo generally acted as the alpha. The others each had their place, but they were each individuals. All of them were capable of blood lust. None of them was tame. Flitters loved, but they were not tamed. They were too smart to be tamed like a common cur.
When H'to stood, Sonia took another step back. It was a small one, more reflexive than anything else. "I don't think color has much to do with it, sir;" she chirruped politely in response to his words, doing her best to hold her place. She tucked her hands neatly behind her back to keep them out of the way, careful not to disturb any of the sleepy forms on her arms. "My blue, Jary, is probably the most aggressive of all of mine;" she explained. The aforementioned flitter was, thankfully, not paying attention and did not even stir at her mention of his name. Eulo, still unable to fall back into sleep's embrace, offered a croon of agreement. Jary wasn't nice at all. He certainly wasn't obedient. Trying to soften whatever dim effect her words may have had, Sonia offered H'to a little smile. It wasn't very genuine, but she did find H'to to be nice.
I will dance I will sing and my laugh shall be gay, I will charm every heart in each crown I will sway, When I woke from my dreaming my idols were clay, All portion of love had all blown away.
