Actual use as an IC rumor mill? Me likey. o:
Ekuda: That guy seen around the Weyr who tends to be wearing shorts and little else any time late Spring, all Summer, and all Autumn. May also be seen stealing Weyrbrats, Candidates (...dragonriders) and so on to do chores for him. Wherhandler Kire keeps going down to his cot outside the Weyr every so often in the very early morning or early evening...what's that about? ;o Since it's Summer, a lot of flits are hatching, and him and his dolphins know where a goodly number of nests are.
L'xon: No longer accepting apology gifts from Day'ar, so he no longer has extra clothing and trinkets to give out. Over the Winter he had plenty of articles to re-give, so especially male Weyrlings around his height could have received some very nice clothing from him (girls can too, it just might not fit them so well). Other items anyone can claim to have received from him are mirrors and water jugs. He has kept his source (Day'ar) mostly confidential.
L'xon has a wife and son at Western Hold, so feel free to have any Western Hold occupiers be aware of them. His son is four turns old, and L'xon last saw him two Turns ago.
Additionally, feel free to have Halventh basking in highly public places in any of your posts, and if he does get up and move away it is always with a hearty strut.
Q'sis: Flunked Weyrlinghood (though his conversation with Fajra was not a matter of public record). Always up really early in the morning, usually jogging or chucking bags of heavy stuff about. Been dragging his fellow tanrider Samael off to his weyr most nights. Unlike Kire/Ekuda, the reason probably isn't a mystery. Also if your character is a Northern Holdless/trader, or has been affiliated with them any time recently, they probably would have heard a rumor concerning Q'sis letting his wher destroy part of his own trading caravan, and getting exiled for it (or some variation thereof). This rumor would not exactly be accurate (nature of the beast), and would have originated some five Turns previous.
