Don't show your face, Stay away all day, Shouldn't have done that!
Kimber wasn't bothered when Lynx told Luven she would dance with him next. She was being polite and had every right to dance with whoever she wished whenever she wished. His slight drunken competitive streak was only with the other male, which reflected on the views he tended to keep in a normal state. Part of him was glad though when Luven was kind enough to decline the offer and told them to go have fun. He liked Lynx; she was pretty and flirty and fun, and very much perfect for him attempting to not be a loner in a corner. Well, the spiked klah might have already fixed the possibility of that, but she still seemed good for him. Quicken his pace slightly, he pulled her into the slight group of dancers around the stage and then turned around so could catch her other hand. He was beaming, eyes bright, happy and full of plenty of energy.
Unfortunately, he wasn't exactly the best dancer to ever exist. Spending your entire life being semi-aquatic is never a good way to excel at anything land based, including dancing. Still, he managed well enough, as his mind commanded his body not to embarrass him in front of Lynx, nor to step on her, nor to trip over her or anything else. In his personal opinion, dancing was better than just having to walk or run somewhere, because at least parts of it felt more normal to him. He was fairly coordinated and well balanced too, so he didn't utterly fail and he was pleased enough with that. He was also a bit distracted by keeping his eyes on his lovely dance partner, while that buzzing sensation in his head grew.
Then the buzzing grew to something that even his oddly soppy mind couldn't ignore and his gut screamed in protest for it. "Excuse me;" he murmured to Lynx, letting her go. Almost blindly, he squirmed his way across the party area, fleeing into the shadows at the side. He really didn't want to be seen as the first person to be sick from the spiked klah; he really didn't want to embarrass himself in front of everyone. There was no good place to flee too though. He stopped at where the ropes blocked his way and then he threw up. Even if he wasn't that visible, and most people were busy paying attention to something else, the noise was painfully loud, loud enough to attract the attention of some of those people. His mind and body were still screaming at him and they made one thing abundantly clear. He so shouldn't have come at all.
A small boy and his infantry, Marching around so naturally, Shouldn't have done that!

Lynx smiled as Kimber took her out on the dance floor and started to dance a little. She was a little shy at first. Dancing was one of the few things that made her shy. She had never danced in public but only in private. She wanted to curse herself. She always thought her dances were equal to some creature that had been stung by a bug and was running around like a wherry with its head chopped off. But, luckily, the dance was kind of slow and it did not involve a lot of complicated moves. Though she still figured herself horrible on her feet, she was being good to not accidentally step on Kimber`s feet, trip, or fall. Her smile got a little bigger once she figured she was not going to embarass herself to bad. And Kimber did seem nice, despite the fact the quickal was messing with him. She ought to stick around and get to know him better. He deserved it.
And then there was the pause and the pardon as Kimber ran off the dance floor, leaving her there alone for a moment. Her brows furrowed as she wondered what had happened to him. She quickly ran off after him, hearing him vomit from being sick off the spiked klah. She disappeared for a second while he continued to vomit, retrieving a cup of water. She returned and waited for him to finish throwing up his insides. She ignored the smells and such as she walked to his side. She offered the cup of water to him, still smiling sweetly. "Sip on this, it should help. Maybe you should not have downed the spiked klah so quickly. But hopefully it is out of your system now. You will feel better in a few moments," she replied, being very polite right now. He was too sick to be flirty right now. When he got better she flirt again, but right now he need someone by his side to help him and comfort. And she was happy to help him out.

Sol stood for a while, observing the fun. It was strange; she normally had no trouble meshing with people, but everyone seemed to be wrapped up and intoxicated in their own affairs. These Weyrfolk- she stuck out terribly, and yet day by day she knew it became more of a usual affair.
The sight of another Candidate standing apart from the crowd cheered her a bit and spurred her to action. She had seen the boy around before, but she did not know him. Was he always shy? Regardless, she loved speaking to people who were shy. It was more work, of course, to get to know them, but once she did it was always the most interesting and genuine things that poured forth.
"Hey there, interesting night, huh? Sol called out in a sincerely friendly manner as she approached Okeris. Her gait was cheerful and her face held a happy smile for him. "I'm Sol," she said when she came to a stop beside him, sharing his space unobtrusively. "What's you name? Oh! And what about you, cutie pie?" she inquired, spotting his firelizard too.

Okeris had been standing on the sidelines, watching the people talk and have fun. Earlier there had been someone, somewhat, that had been talking to him but they had left to do something. Now it was only him and Lira, who was crooning and leaning into his neck for comfort. She sensed his uneasiness again, and it upset her. She wanted her Mine to be happy and enjoy himself. She wanted to have fun too, but Okeris` emotions was what kept her from flying off and circling people. She chirped sadly.
Then someone approached them. Lira thrilled loudly and happily, glad someone had noticed them. And especially her. She liked the attention. She lifted from Okeris` shoulder and circled the two until she stopped neat Sol`s head to inspect the girl. She seemed nice. And she had called her a cutie. She was okay in Lira`s mind. Okeris watched the crazy antics of his little Fire Lizard. He felt a little embarrassed and wanted to take Lira into his arms again to comfort her. But she had her own mind at times, and that meant distractions. He looked at Sol. "Sorry about that. Lira has a tendency to get hyper around people and dragons. My name is Okeris," he replied back, still embarrassed from Lira.

Sol raised her head and watched as the firelizard thrilled and lifted from the boy's shoulder. She circled around Sol's head curiously and finally landed, seemingly accepting Sol's presence near Hers. Sol beamed up at her, amused by her antics. Firelizards could be so sweet at times!
"Lira," Sol repeated. "There's no need to apologize, really; she doesn't bother me." Looking back to him, she quickly noted the unease in his stance and on his face. Was he embarrassed? "It's nice to meet you, Okeris," she said kindly. Reaching up she took Lira from her head gently and placed her back in Okeris' arms. She was quite sure that he needed her more for comfort than she did for amusement.
As she stepped back, perhaps looking like she was going to leave, someone grabbed her hand. "Now, now," she heard a voice say. In one quick movement she was turned around and face to face with a male candidate that positively oozed charm. Yet again taken off guard, this boy was lucky that she had quelled her inner surprise and not struck out at him, as was her first instinct to do. She raised an eyebrow as he kissed her hand gallantly. "Actually... I wasn't leaving just yet. Why thank you," she said in response to his gesture, her reserve obvious in her voice. "I was just talking to Okeris here," she said, leaning to the side to reveal the candidate behind her. "Have you met? Or rather, have we? What's your name?" she asked.

Okeris watched the girl as Lira had landed on her shoulder. Lira loved people and everyone and dragons. He could not help that she liked being social and such. It was something Okeris was not fully use to. Oh, he was not embarrassed around people. In fact, people did not bother him. He was just the type of guy who rarely spoke. The only times that you could get him to speak a lot was if you were close to him. But the only people that he had ever been close to so far in his life had been his cousins. He missed them, but he knew they were all happy with their lives now. But his mind came back to the present when she spoke again. He was a little relieved that she was not annoyed with his Fire Lizard. That made him relax a lot better. And she had returned his Fire Lizard to him. He was no longer embarrassed. And now that the embarrassment was gone, he had a better chance to look at her. She was pretty and nice, but he thought most girls were pretty. But because of his quiet nature, he never had been in a relationship before nor had he tried to pursue one. He thought the girls would laugh him off. And as for guys, he was not sure what would happen if one approached him.
Then there was another voice that stopped Sol from leaving. She moved back and to reveal the person who had spoken to her. There was another person to talk to, and Lira chirped happily again. She squirmed in Okeris` arms, wanting to be free and see the new person. She finally managed to get out and was in the air, flying in circles again, her eyes a mixture of green and blue.

Because tonight, the world turned in me, Because right now, I don't dare to breathe. Oh, babe, I know, it's alive and somewhere for us to find tonight, Chase this light with me.
Oh, great, Lynx had come over. Kimber kept his body bent over, eyes fixed on the ground where a nice display of what he'd been digesting was partially seeping into the ground, while she talked. It wasn't exactly the most pleasant thing to look at but he didn't feel that it would be much better to look up. He was trying to decide whether he was going to end up throwing up anymore before he attempted properly standing. Finally, he straightened up, accepting the glass of water that she offered him meekly and taking a few careful sips of it to try to settle himself. Faranth, it was so horrible, hearing her so polite all a sudden and knowing that she'd seen him publicly evacuating his gut. He kept his gaze downward as he carefully sipped the water, scraggly hair covering up his eyes, still not want to look at Lynx. Even thought it was sometimes inconvenient, it was nice for hiding his face when he was feeling nervous or shy, or just horribly mortified.
After he was feeling a bit better, he managed to look up, wanting to make eye contact with her. "I only had two cups. The first one I didn't even know was spiked, and the second one, well, I didn't know until about part way through. I'm sorry;" he gushed very quietly. Then he paused, before continuing. "I think I'm just going to go now. Thank you;" he murmured. It was miraculous he could manage that much, rather than just fleeing for his poor, pitiful life. Shoulders scrunched, he turned and shuffled away from her, heading for the exit with the cup of half-drunken water clenched in his hand feebly. He didn't dare look back, simply trying to think that maybe he wouldn't be noticed at all by anyone else and not wanting to go and look and see if anyone was actually looking at him. Though his gut felt much better, his head was still not exactly in the best of places. Going and just collapsing in the barracks sounded so wonderful. And thus he was the first to leave the party.
A movie still, photograph, Through a martyr's eyes I can see, I've seen the best of love, the best of hate, the best reward is earned, I've paid for every single word I've ever said.
