Je'kyll sat with his back against Hydeth's leg staring up at the stars. It was relaxing to simply sit there by himself for once. With night having fallen there were not too many people in the Weyrbowl. Even though there were a few Whers about they generally didn't bother the Rider and his Pink dragon. Hydeth rumbled suddenly and snapped in the direction of a shadow. Je'kyll heard a loud hiss and the distinct sounds of a Flitt disappearing.
HYDETH! He reprimanded the Pink. Hydeth grumbled, anger flowing through their bond. She hissed a little and snapped again at the air. The tiny creature bit me first. She hissed back, head now lowered. Je'kyll got to his feet and walked over to Hydeth's head. He'd be the first to admit that he was less than pacifist in his thoughts but at least he never acted upon them. He stared into Hydeth's eyes.
And you didn't think to speak to it first? Did you get it? No... It got away. She grumbled. Je'kyll had only to hope that the Flitt didn't belong to someone. He couldn't deal with an angry Flitt owner walking over and reprimanding him. Not to mention Hydeth, normally a very sweet natured dragon, would probably fly into a frenzy and attack something for no apparent reason. She'd probably eat just about everyone in the Weyr if she had her way.
Hydeth... Just calm down. There's no one here. He'd spoken too soon for Je'kyll heard the distinct sounds of someone walking through the Weyr Bowl. Well, at least it wasn't a whole group of people. Hydeth grumbled a little and settled her head down on her forelegs again.

G'night was hyper. This was, of course, to be expected, but it made it too hard for G'night to sleep. He blamed the cup of klah that he had had not even half a candlemark ago. But klah was good! G'night couldn't resist it! And it made him so hyper. Which was fun except it meant that he couldn't sleep. "Hey. Hey Midnith!" The bluerider bounced on the furs, doing his best to awaken his lazy blue, who was sleeping at the moment.
Lethargic, Midnith corrected, one eye opening slightly. What? The blue added a moment later, tilting his head slightly to show that he was curious as to why His had awakened him at this time of night, when every sane creature should be sleeping. Of course, Midnith knew that his wasn't sane. Someone that hyper couldn't be sane. But Midnith was tired. Why was His waking him up? G'night wriggled happily, "Let's go star gazing! I bet the stars are pretty right now!" When was the last time they'd gone star gazing? G'night could distantly remember going star gazing once or twice, but he couldn't remember when that was. His memory was really bad like that, wasn't it? But G'night didn't mind. Star gazing! It would be fun, right? Right! Midnith sighed wearily, nodding his head once. Fine. He would go star gazing with His. Star gazing and Midnith sleeping weren't mutually exclusive. Of course, knowing His, Midnith wasn't going to be getting much sleep. But it was worth a try, right? "Awesome! Let's go, Midnith!" The bluerider scrambled onto his blue back, using the blue's absently extended leg with a happy grin. "This'll be fun!" Bouncing happily on Midnith's back, G'night paused for a moment tilting his head, "I want some klah, Midnith. Can we stop by the Dining Hall too?"Midnith heaved a sigh as he shook himself, flaring his wings and shaking his head. Of course they would, though Midnith silently disapproved and was sure that His could feel the annoyance radiating off the blue. His was always so sharding hyper, and the klah didn't help. But the blue swept towards the Dining Hall anyways, touching down lightly against the ground and extending one leg so that G'night could go scampering off into the Dining Hall. Silly, Midnith thought fondly. He did love His. "Love ya, Midnith!" G'night thumped the blue's shoulder fondly before practically sprinting away. A few moments later, the bluerider was moving quickly back, taking a gulp of klah every few steps or so until he reached Midnith. By that time, the cup of klah was already half empty, which G'night noticed with a slight frown. Midnith snorted to himself and glanced at His. Where to? The blue questioned, glancing at the sky. Where would His want to go to see the stars? Preferably somewhere quiet so that Midnith could get some sleep without being bothered by whers or anything. It was not the proper time for a dragon to be awake and Midnith was vividly aware of that in his bones. He was sleepy. "Hmm..." G'night sat for a moment, wriggling it as he mulled it over, "The Weyr Bowl!" G'night announced after a moment, taking a swig of his klah. The Weyr Bowl sounded like fun! There probably wouldn't be anyone there, but if there was, well, more fun for G'night! With another sigh, Midnith launched himself into the air, twitching his tail in annoyance. The blue landed in the Weyr Bowl with a soft huff. He did his best to land quietly, but His promptly ruined such efforts by launching himself down happily from Midnith's back. "C'mon, Midnith!" G'night cried, jogging forward. His steps were noisy, and little droplets of klah spilled everywhere. G'night had never been a particularly careful man. Midnith lumbered after G'night, shaking his head. So much work! Why couldn't His just let him sleep? Ugh. Midnith shook his head in annoyance and kept on walking. He was not a particularly graceful dragon on the ground, but was any dragon? Of course, that was when G'night spotted the pink and her rider. "Oh! Hello! Are you watching the stars too?" G'night bounced exuberantly and stared happily and the pink and the pinkrider. Would they want to stargaze with him? That would be cool! G'night took another drink of klah. Midnith shook his head and snorted as he stared sleepily at the pink and the pinkrider. Miiiiiine. The blue groaned at His. Why? Couldn't His just let him sleep?[/blockquote]

Je'kyll shook his head exasperatedly, he loved Hydeth to pieces but she was troublesome. Something about the manner in which she chose to conduct herself always concerned him. What worried him more was that the suggestions that plagued his mind were always considered by the Pink to be a perfectly valid option. She had a violent streak, this he had slowly come to accept, but it was worrying that she still changed into a lovable, social creature following some displays of pointless aggression.
The arrival of the Blue and His was no different matter. Initially Je'kyll felt rage flow through their bond at being disturbed and heard a deep rumble. But, just as suddenly as it had started, Hydeth sat up straight and observed the Blue. Je'kyll himself was somewhat annoyed that their solitude had been disturbed and pushed some of his less-than-pacifist thoughts from his head. He remained fairly impassive at the greeting and nodded a little. "Of course. Nothing better than looking at the stars and wondering whether anything is up there waiting to spring an attack. Ready to decimate Pern..." He stopped and laughed non-nonchalantly, "But, ah, that's neither here nor there."
He coughed. Truth was, there was something waiting to destroy their planet. But the dark manner in which he spoke was, perhaps, a little too dark for the tastes of some. Hydeth stretched her neck and then turned towards the blue. Hydeth. Mine was speaking of Thread, of course. I will eat it if it harms him.
She seemed to take great pleasure in the thought of destroying something and rumbled pleasantly. She swayed a little, dreamy passiveness returning as she observed the stars herself. She eyed the Blue with some caution, trying to judge whether he was good enough to be near Hers. She seemed pleased with her findings. He had a nice colour after all... She needn't snap at them at least. Not yet anyway.

G'night practically jumped for joy when he received a nod from the pinkrider, hyperness going at full speed. He had managed to complete most of his cup of klah, it seemed, and was draining it as he bounced up and down, energy running like blood through his veins. "Myname'sG'night! What'syours?" The words ran together as G'night grinned happily, entirely unconcerned with whether or not his pinkrider companion could understand a word that G'night had said. If the pinkrider hadn't, it was his loss! G'night had tried, after all. So there! Haha!
Midnith snorted softly and nudged His slightly with his nose, Calm. The blue spoke firmly mentally, eyes whirling slowly as he stared at His. Hyperness is scary. It certainly was! It was very disconcerting to Midnith that His could be so hyper! And after a moment of staring at His, Midnith settled in a comfortable position on the ground, making sure that he wouldn't have to move later on to get comfortable again. Moving was too much work, Midnith thought with a snort, eying His sharply to make sure that the man didn't bounce of the walls like a madman. G'night stumbled only slightly when Midnith nudged him, and rolled his eyes slightly when his blue bespoke him. Yes, yes, he responded distantly mentally, already distracted by what his pinkrider companion was saying. G'night tilted his head slightly, curiosity gleaming in his eyes as he took a deep breath to compose himself before he spoke, doing his best to calm himself (and failing rather epically), as Midnith had advised him. "What about Thread? Doesn't that count as somethingthat'sreadytodecimatePern?" His words were already running together, but G'night didn't particularly care. He had tried for Midnith and that was enough, "Sowhydoyouneedtowonder?" G'night wriggled, draining the last of his klah as he did so. The bluerider looked at his klah cup as he finished the last bits of it and heaved a dramatic sigh, "Aww. That's the last of my klah!" G'night bounced back immediately, however, and offered the pinkrider a winning smile, "Oh well! Klahisgood, don'tyouthink?" This probably didn't bode well for the whole sleeping thing, but G'night slept as little as humanly possible, or so it seemed at times to Midnith, who snorted and turned his gaze towards the pink, who would be a fairly good distraction from the antics of His. My name is Midnith, but . . . Why eat it? Midnith questioned politely, tilting his head slightly. Like His had been a bit earlier, he was honestly curious about the pink's words, Why not flame it? In all honesty, Midnith had never encountered thread before, so he didn't know which method would be more useful, but he figured that it would probably be flaming, seeing as it was something that dragons had done for many, many passes. If eating was more effective, why hadn't dragons been doing it since the first threadfall? The question was an interesting one, but certainly not one that the 'lethargic' Midnith cared to pursue. His few words would be enough for then, the blue decided and twitched his tail slightly in the air. Other than that, however, Midnith remained still, entirely oblivious of the fact that Hydeth had been examining him.[/blockquote]

Je'kyll's eyes narrowed a little as he listened to and watched the other rider, unsure as to what was wrong with him. Must have been drinking or something. was pleased that G'night had somewhat caught onto what he was saying. Perhaps this night wouldn't be entirely wasted after all. He had not wanted company and, despite the scariness of the somewhat hyperactive Rider before him Je'kyll thought he might be able to speak to him. Well, he would have to deal with it for the moment anyway. Maybe this Rider would surprise him. He already had just now.
"Well, ah, yes. I suppose that's what I mean. Um... But don't you ever look up there and wonder whether there might be more things than just Thread." Je'kyll didn't think it very likely but the thought of something else being able to completely destroy Pern was a magnificent thought. Sobering, but magnificent in its splendor. He looked back up at the sky briefly and then turned his attention back to the other Rider who had seemed to move off the topic of the stars and onto something else. Je'kyll could only stare in shock as he began speaking of klah. Je'kyll smiled crookedly. "Hmm... Well, I suppose it is pretty good." He replied and got to his feet.
Hydeth rumbled happily at the question. Flaming was all good and well, and in all honesty that was what she'd do, but the thought of snapping her jaws over something and tearing it apart was a little more gratifying. Sure, flames were pretty but she preferred the thought of tearing it apart. Eat it or flame it. We will have fun, yes? Hydeth replied happily, Yours speaks very fast. Mine speaks too slow.
She looked at the two Riders wishing that they would both find a happy medium. Her's needed to speak a little faster and His needed to speak slower. If they could somehow make it so they spoke just right... Well, Hydeth wouldn't be attempting to find out what in the world MidnithHis was saying.

G'night tilted his head slightly when his pinkrider companion spoke, considering his question seriously, his mind whirling a mile a minute as he thought. "Well . . . Nonotreally. But now that you mention it..." The bluerider tilted his head up to examine the sky, thinking. Could there be something else out there that could devour all of Pern like Thread? Well, there certainly could... But was there something else out there that was capable of decimating Pern, which was an interesting thought. Certainly rather sobering, G'night decided as he mulled it over. Midnith, do you think that there are things out there other than Thread? G'night questioned of his blue, turning his head expectantly towards the dragon.
Hmm... Midnith tilted his head to the side, considering the question as seriously as His had. It took him several moments longer than it had taken His to answer the question, however, as Midnith's mind wasn't churning a mile a minute. It never did. Midnith was the lethargic one of the pair, Perhaps. Midnith returned at last, voice firm. "There could be..." G'night muttered at last, once Midnith had answered him, "I mean, I'mnotsureoranything. Buttherecouldbe." Even the solemnity of this couldn't keep G'night from getting hyper again and having his words run together. The bluerider bounced slightly, shifting his weight eagerly from foot to foot. It was impossible for him to stay still, it seemed. A sunny grin escaped the bluerider when the pinkrider answered him, "WellIloveklah. It'samazing!" G'night practically chirped, bouncing up and down eagerly. He was incapable of controlling his energy and keeping it from exploding outwards pretty much constantly, which was how he and Midnith had ended up out and about during the wherhandlers' hours. All that klah... G'night grinned all the same, wriggling happily as he stared solemnly at the pinkrider. Or as solemnly as he could manage, anyways. "Heeeeeey. Do you like bubbly pies?" G'night chirped happily, making an effort to talk more slowly for the moment. Or maybe the effects of the klah were beginning to wear off. No, it was probably the former. G'night had had far too much klah in too short of a time for it to be wearing off already. Midnith, meanwhile, was back to snorting at the stupidity of His and paying attention to the pink. It was far too much work to pay attention to more than one thing at a time, after all. Yes, much fun. Midnith agreed with an incline of his head. There was something majestic about the idea of flaming Thread. Eating it was a bit less so, but it said a lot about the power of one's jaws to be able to eat Thread, Midnith thought, flicking his tail slightly in the air. The blue dragon tilted his head slightly at the pink's next words, Mine speaks very fast. He agreed with her, inclining his head with a draconic smile, I will ask him to slow down some. Not that that meant much... Midnith had already asked His to talk slower, but His obviously hadn't listened, as His was still chattering away at a mile a minute. Mine? Yes, Midnith?Calm down! Midnith snapped mentally, eyes whirling fiercely, Too energetic. The blue informed His with a snort before returning his attention to the pink with which he was originally talking.[/blockquote]

Je'kyll looked back at the sky for a moment he was going to respond but the other Rider didn't seem to want to dwell too much on the thought. Je'kyll figured he was probably not too keen on considering the though of even more things coming down to destroy them. For Je'kyll it was a cause for deep consideration. The Blue Rider seemed a little more interested in discussing matters of little importance. Je'kyll frowned but his expression returned to being rather inscrutable a moment later.
Mine... I like Midnith. You will make an effort or I will crush a Wherry and leave it in your bed. Je'kyll's eyes widened at the thought and he coughed. He smiled and paid more attention to what the Rider was saying, not particularly wanting a Wherry in his bed later that night. He nodded along with G'night's speech, attempting to determine what he was saying. Klah was pretty good he would admit that much to himself. When G'night finished speaking Je'kyll stared at him as though wondering whether he would say anything more.
When he was satisfied the other male would not suddenly start speaking again he smiled in a slightly awkward way. "Well... I, ah, I guess I miss klah. I don't often drink it. I should." Yes, you should Mine. Hydeth grumbled to Hers and then turned her attention to the Blue, There is not too much need for that. I have spoken to Mine also. He will stop being slow now.
Hydeth seemed pleased with her reasoning and held her head a little higher. She hummed happily and kept swaying from side to side. Whether she had meant speaking slow or being slow of mind was not particularly clear and the quick dismissal of the fact seemed to suggest she didn't care how Midnith wanted to take it. She loved HerJe'kyll to pieces but she would not deny the fact that he did think and some silly things. Why think them if he was not going to act upon them?
"And I don't think I've ever had the, erm, bubbly pie was it? I suppose it's just one of the things I should eat sometime. There are many." He was speaking a little faster now, trying to prove to Hydeth that he was making an effort. Who knew? Perhaps he could make another friend at this Weyr. He didn't actually have any. so far G'night was tolerable. That could always change very easily.

G'night frowned a bit at Je'kyll's words, looking rather upset at the idea of someone not drinking klah all that often. That was wrong! Klah was amazing, you know? And G'night loved it. Mournfully, he glanced down at his cup, noting sadly that it was empty, "I would give you some of mine... But it's empty. Perhaps we'll get some more later?" Already, G'night considered the pinkrider to be his friend, because that was how it worked, wasn't it? Wriggling slightly, G'night glanced down at his cup and sighed again. Man! Now he wanted klah again.
...No. No more tonight. Midnith shot G'night a nasty look, twitching his tail like an irritated cat. His was already too energetic, it seemed, and Midnith liked Hydeth so far (to an extent). She seemed like a nice enough pink, and he wasn't going to let His mess things up! Beyond rolling his eyes at Midnith, G'night didn't react to his blue's words and instead focused his attention on Je'kyll, doing his best to completely ignore Midnith. Midnith was boring! And annoying! Hmph. G'night wanted klah, but noooo, Midnith had to be cranky about it. Midnith snorted lazily and flicked his tail, turning his head towards the pink as she spoke, Perhaps they will reach a medium? Midnith tilted his head to the side and watched as Hydeth swayed from side to side, not entirely sure what kind of slow she meant. Did she mean that Hers would stop being mentally slow or that Hers would stop talking slowly. Did it matter either way? It took Midnith a moment to decide that no, it really didn't. Midnith didn't particularly care. His would stop talking so quickly and Hydeth's would stop talking so slowly? It was perfect! Doing his stubborn best to completely ignore Midnith, G'night smiled towards Je'kyll, "At the next Gather, you'll have to try one!" He made a concentrated effort to speak in a slower manner, just for Midnith's sake, See? G'night muttered mentally, bouncing up and down on his heels. It was hard to contain all of this energy! Maybe he shouldn't have had klah so late at night... But no, there was never a time that was inappropriate for klah! Even if it made it hard for G'night to sleep. I do. Midnith nodded approvingly at His before bespeaking Hydeth, Well, Mine will be slower now. Less hyper. Midnith nodded lazily, curling his tail around his haunches as he watched Hydeth.[/blockquote]

Hydeth bobbed her head happily to the Blue. He didn't seem too bad at all. She just remembered her first flight with that disgusting Blue. Then again, Queth had been rather lovely. She supposed there were just some dragons who seemed to have no manners at all no matter what colour. Midnith was not one of them. Thank goodness. Hydeth had become so sick of dealing with the slovenly Dragons at Fort whom all seemed to want nothing better than to face her wrath during a Flight. Usually she could put up with it for the most part... If Midnith was anything to go by the Dragons at Dalibor would certainly prove far more interesting.
I do hope so. She replied happily, Have you been here long? We transferred recently. Although the people at Fort seemed to think it was a joke. She huffed a little at the memory of the indignant and somewhat confused responses they had received from the Fort riders. The Weyrwoman especially had seemed to think Hers insane for wanting to move to a Weyr apparently devoid of proper leadership. Hydeth thought, so far, that Fort seemed to be the Weyr most lacking in leadership.
Je'kyll tilted his head a little in thought. He'd not ever really been to a Gather before. He'd always thought them something only the higher-ranking riders went to... Then again, he hadn't had a lot of political capital to begin with. He certainly had none now. Anything he could say to, well, anyone would fall on deaf ears. Sometimes he just wished he could force them to listen... A little firestone, a dragon and some hooks would sort that out. Why, he already had two of those things! "Well, I haven't really been to many gathers." He started speaking slowly but then sped up a little, "Except when I was a Runner. I went to a few at that time. Between Weyrlinghood and... Everything else, I never really went to one."
He hoped things would be different at Dalibor, that he would feel wanted irrespective of whether he was impressed to a Pink, Green, Blue, Bronze or Brown. It certainly seemed that way. Especially with the threat of Thread. Mine, perhaps you should get some klah, not just talk about it. It's much nicer out here... I think it would be better to stay here.
He wasn’t so sure that he wanted to wander around the Weyr. He was energetic for the most part but since they had graduated he’d found much solace in simply sitting. They were running around all the time performing duties… There was time enough for movement later.

Midnith hummed to himself for a moment before answering Hydeth. Mine and I arrived earlier this turn. Midnith huffed a bit, tilting his head. Fort riders were strange, We're glad you're here. Midnith nodded firmly. Fort dragons and riders had to be silly! If Midnith had been them, he wouldn't have wanted the pink and Hers to leave. Hydeth was nice! Admittedly, he had no idea what was going through her mind beyond what she chose to share with him, but Midnith liked Hydeth so far. She was a nice pink, Midnith figured as he rumbled happily, watching Hydeth cheerfully. She was more fun than His at the moment. G'night rolled his eyes at his silly blue, but other than that he continued to ignore Midnith. Midnith was always being silly. Midnith never had the energy that G'night had. That was so weird, but G'night did love Midnith, no matter how strange and silly the blue was. Anyways, with Je'kyll talking, it wasn't like he could be bothered to pay attention to Midnith. Je'kyll was more interesting than Midnith. Mostly because Midnith was busy being entranced by talking to Hydeth. G'night frowned a bit at Je'kyll's word before grinning happily, "I hear Dalibor has Gathers..." An idea was rapidly beginning to form in G'night's mind and he had to force his voice to remain slow and calm, though G'night was getting rather excited by the idea that was forming, "I'm going to drag you to the next one that Dalibor has and make you try some bubbly pies!" G'night looked very pleased with himself by this idea and he grinned happily at Je'kyll. "It'll be fun!" The energetic bluerider bounced up and down happily, a boyish grin etched on his features. He hoped Je'kyll would like the idea. Of course, if the pinkrider didn't, G'night would carry it out anyways. If he remembered the idea by the next day. Midnith snorted softly at His, I will remind you. Not that Midnith would remember either, honestly. He would try for Hydeth, his new friend (or so Midnith figured), to remember. However, Midnith was a dragon and dragons weren't renowned for their memories. You wouldn't remember either, G'night shot back, but there wasn't any malice to the thought. The bluerider was too busy being energetic to be cranky, especially when it was with his mindmate. G'night loved Midnith! Even though Midnith was silly. Not that G'night wasn't, but...[/blockquote]

Hydeth liked this Blue a lot. He was certainly not on her list of Dragons to maul when she got the chance. No, she would certainly not maul this Blue. So far she had no dragons on her list. Except that Black who had greeted her so coldly. Even that Black was not high on her list. Yes, so far she had no reason to be upset with any of the Dalibor Dragons. Had she been back at Fort she’d have found herself rather busy during her Flight. So little time to show them that she would not be treated so poorly. Well, thank you Midnith. It means much to me. I am pleased to be here… So far the dragons here are much kinder than those at Fort.
Well, the ones she had met were rather kind. She had only come to know a few dragons at Fort and she’d hated all but one. Or two. Most of them were just silly and deserved to be torn from the skies. Something she had accomplished with at least one of them. He had deserved it though. That dragon had been cruel to her. He would fly again, eventually. Maybe. If dragons could smirk, Hydeth would have been smirking darkly at that moment.
In the short while he had dealt with G’night, Je’kyll had come to a conclusion. The Bluerider was certainly tolerable and he did not want Wherries in his bed. He could feel that Hydeth had taken something of a fancy to the Blue… Perhaps he reminded her of Queth. Perhaps she was merely pleased to be somewhere different. Maybe the Pink was just in a good mood. Either way, her happiness flowed through their bond and made G’night more tolerable to Je’kyll than he would have perhaps been had Hydeth been in a rage. She seemed to have cheered up since snapping at the Flitt earlier.
“Well, I suppose a Gather would be interesting enough. And Bubbly pies sound tasty. Yes, I can see that as a possibility.” Je’kyll replied after consideration. It seemed things at Dalibor would prove far more interesting than he’d previously thought. Good.

Midnith gave a draconic grin, flicking his tail slightly. This pink seemed nice, didn't she? It was a question that didn't require an answer, though. Midnith thought the pink was pretty sharding nice. Of course, he still wasn't privy to her inner thoughts. He couldn't tell if she liked him or if she was just being nice. But it didn't really matter. The lethargic blue hummed to himself, content to listen to Hydeth until she was done talking. He liked listening more than he liked talking, but G'night was of the opinion that Midnith ought to talk, so he would. For His' sake. And also because Hydeth was nice to him.
I'm glad to hear that, Midnith grinned to himself, We try to be nice. Well, while Midnith definitely couldn't speak for the rest of Dalibor, Midnith definitely tried to be nice. Mostly because he liked Hydeth so far. If he hadn't liked the pink, Midnith simply wouldn't have talked to her. However, because she seemed nice enough and because G'night wanted Midnith to talk, Midnith talked. Not much, admittedly, but the quiet blue was making an effort to talk more than he typically did, though it probably wasn't particularly obvious. He was still quiet. He still wasn't talking as much as some dragons out there. Or as much as G'night wanted him to, but whatever. You should talk more, don't deny it. You're too quiet for your own good! Not that G'night really cared. He just liked messing with his dragon sometimes. It was fun! Am not! Are so!Midnith didn't deign to answer. G'night snorted and turned his attention away from Midnith again. "Dragons are silly," he commented aloud to excuse his distraction, sticking his tongue out in Midnith's direction. It was a childish move on the bluerider's part, but the hyper bluerider was generally rather childish. "I bet you'd have fuuuuuuuuuun." G'night grinned cheerily, "But it's settled, then! I'll drag you to Dalibor's next Gather and make you try all the delicious food that Pern has to offer!" G'night was still making a concentrated effort to talk slowly. It was hard. Because he was really hyper right now and bouncing off the walls and . . . hyper. Really hyper. Bouncing up and down, G'night grinned happily. Ooh, he was so hyper. The klah. It was all because of the klah. But hey! He liked being hyper![/blockquote]

Thank you! Ooh! Much better than Fort. Hydeth mused happily. She started her swaying again, humming quietly pleased with the new acquaintance. Hopefully they would be friends soon! Hydeth had no problems with that. Much better than being all alone anyway. Hers hardly said anything and yet… People seemed to do all the talking for him. He was a strange Mine, Hydeth decided. Strange thoughts. That was why she liked him.
If klah and bubbly pies touched his mind, as it seemed to have done the Bluerider, Je’kyll wasn’t sure he wanted them anymore… Still, he struggled to hide his thoughts from his features and Hydeth, arranging them so they remained rather blank for the moment. Blank faces always hid everything. It was like his safeguard against being called out for his thoughts. He watched the movements of the other male, head moving as his eyes followed the Rider. Not that G’night was moving too much but it was just enough that Je’kyll found it interesting to watch him. He certainly seemed to have boundless energy. Imagine if there was some way to harness that kind of energy in a more… Productive way.
He raised his eyebrows a little as he noticed that the pair much have been speaking to one another. He glanced at Hydeth but could not quite see her face. She was still swaying back and forth dreamily, looking at the starry skies. Do you suppose that there might be another Dragon like myself looking at the stars wondering the same thing? Hydeth asked Je’kyll.
It was an odd question, really. Probably. Hydeth hissed at that and glared at Je’kyll, But then she would try to take you. I would destroy her. She would never come anywhere near you. Uh huh. “Hydeth seems to have the attention span of an overactive Firelizard sometimes.” Je’kyll explained to G’night. If Hydeth scared the pair off with her behaviour he would be the one with a Wherry in his bed… And much worse. He shuddered at the thought. “She’s just being silly now, actually. So, yeah… Dragons are definitely silly.”

Midnith gave a quiet little croon, wriggling as he surveyed the pretty pink, watching silently and intently as she swayed. The lethargic blue appreciated watching others move, mostly because it meant that he didn't have to move. Others were moving for him. Good, The blue hummed pleasantly, giving a draconic version of a smile. He liked this pink so far, and he would hate to be considered to be on the same level as the Fort dragons that Hydeth seemed to dislike so much. G'night was mostly quiet, which was quite the feat for the bluerider, though he watched Je'kyll and his pink intently, a cheery grin on his features. His mind was whirring a mile a minute, but he wasn't thinking about much. Mostly about how good klah was and that Hydeth was a pretty pink. He didn't really notice Je'kyll's blank features, and the idea that they could be hiding anything didn't occur to the bluerider at all. The idea of hiding anything was a very strange thought for G'night. He hid bad thoughts, for the most part, because G'night generally didn't like causing pain, but yeah. Midnith, meanwhile, continued to watch Hydeth. The dreamy look in her eyes was nice. He didn't have any idea what Hydeth was thinking, nor did he really care. Everyone needed their secrets. Midnith was mostly content to watch and listen and observe, but he didn't want to know everything! Dragons and people needed their secrets; Midnith didn't want to know everything. He just liked watching more than he liked talking, and since Hydeth wasn't talking, he was quite content to simply watch the pink. The pink's hiss made Midnith's eyes, which had begun to drift closed, snap open again, and the blue cautiously eyed the pink dragoness, Is everything alright? The blue questioned softly. He was torn between staying quiet and talking to the pink, and eventually the talking had won out. He didn't like unhappiness in others, and Midnith was doing his rather quiet best to make things better for Hydeth. G'night grinned at Je'kyll, "Hah, I know the feeling. Attention spans are highly over-rated!" The bluerider smiled a bit wider, hoping to make it obvious that he was joking around a bit. He was just being friendly! "Silly can be fun, though! Hydeth doesn't seem like a bad kind of silly!" No, not at all. Not t hat G'night had any room to talk about silly, since he was quite probably the silliest, hyperest one there, "Just wait until you meet some of the dragons here. They're really silly." The bluerider wriggled happily, a smile on his face.[/blockquote]

Hydeth returned the little smile to Midnith in something of a reassuring manner before she replied to his concern. Mine said something very silly about there being other dragons up there. She looked up at the sky It is all right though, I set him straight.
Hydeth seemed thoroughly pleased that she had sorted that business out. Hers was sometimes very silly and said stupid things. But she still loved him for it. His thoughts always kept her on her toes as such. They were always rather interesting to listen to. When she had walked across the sands she had wanted someone fierce but also someone with strange thoughts. Je’kyll had been the only one to fit that description. She nodded as though the matter had been settled and then took to looking back at the sky.
Midnith was certainly one of the most interesting dragons she had ever really met. He certainly seemed a little different to them. He spoke little and she rather liked that. Sure, she liked having a conversation with others but she also rather enjoyed when she could sit and watch things with the other dragons. So long as none of them annoyed her or Je’kyll. When Je’kyll got annoyed she found it difficult to remain as kind as she could.
Je’kyll nodded in agreement. Yes, she was not precisely a ‘bad’ silly but she was most definitely still rather strange. He did not agree with the sentiment about attention spans, however, he seemed them extremely important. He got extremely impatient when some did not pay any attention to what was happening around them. Then again, he got impatient with a number of things. “Yes, I have heard that some of them are a little different.” He agreed, “Hydeth said there were a few dragons she had met so far who seemed rather silly.”
She hadn’t but she didn’t seem to be listening for if she had she would have retorted.

Midnith gave a distantly pleased hum, tail flicking cheerfully. I'm glad to hear that you set him straight. The blue nodded and continued to hum quietly. He really was glad that she had set Hers straight. Midnith didn't want his new friend to be unhappy! Being silly isn't good. The blue nodded again, tail flicking happily as he watched the pink, content to simply watch and listen for then. He didn't want to talk all that much, and if Hydeth wasn't talking, he felt no need to fill the silences in. As she gazed at the sky, however, Midnith glanced up as well, flexing his claws a bit as he examined the skies, trying to figure out what had interested the pink so much. Some dragons might have asked what she was so interested in, but Midnith liked to keep some mystery in his life. Besides, the stars were interesting. They made pretty pictures if you had enough imagination to make something from a bunch of connected dots. Midnith didn't really, but he liked to pretend that he did have enough imagination to find pictures in the skies. The idea of there being anything else up there didn't occur to him. And why would it? Pern was quite enough for the blue, and while the stars were pretty, he didn't think about things being beyond them. “Yes, I have heard that some of them are a little different.” He agreed, “Hydeth said there were a few dragons she had met so far who seemed rather silly.” G'night grinned cheerfully when the pinkrider responded to him, "Some of them are more than a little different. I saw one once that was dancing. It was pretty interesting." It had been a pink, too, just like Hydeth! Except the dancing pink had been a lot . . . brighter, which was pretty much the only reason that G'night remembered the pink. That and the dancing. The dancing had been pretty cool. Had Midnith mentioned that he'd seen any silly dragons? G'night didn't really remember, but then again, his memory was terrible. "I think Midnith might have mentioned a very odd dragon once or twice... But I don't really remember..." G'night's voice trailed off as he mulled that over, head tilted to the side. He couldn't remember what Midnith had said! But hadn't the blue mentioned an odd dragon once or twice? Maybe?[/blockquote]

Hydeth had always found it difficult to make friends. Normally Je’kyll made it rather difficult with his emotions. She loved him dearly and wanted to protect him, which generally turned out to be the problem. She turned her gaze back from the sky to look at Midnith. He was almost like the night sky himself. Mysterious and distant but still familiar enough to feel safe around. Who is the strangest human you have ever met? They are all odd in their own ways but there must be one stranger than the rest. Hydeth asked, somewhat out of nowhere.
It was something she’d often wondered about. She thought Hers was strange enough but there were definitely stranger people out there! She wanted to know for certain that Hers was not one of those. Other than Je’kyllHers she thought some of the Greenriders were rather… different. But she didn’t tend to like the greens too much. Some of them were not nice at all. A number of them seemed to enjoy running about, causing problems for everyone else.
Je’kyll wasn’t sure what he thought about a dancing dragon. She surely wouldn’t be able to move all that gracefully all things considered. Then again, pinks were the smallest females, discounting the few female Whites and Grays, so it could turn out to be quite the show. Rather interesting considering the agility a number of them had. “That would have been a great show. Hydeth tends to hum a lot and sway but I’m not sure her skills extend beyond that.” Je’kyll stated with a shadow of a smile.
He wasn’t sure she had heard him. She seemed far too interested in Midnith to pay attention to his subtle taunting. Perhaps she was merely ignoring him. Well, regardless, he had only ever seen Hydeth sway and certainly had never seen her do much remotely musical. Certainly she took great joy in swooping through the air but he’d hardly call that ‘dancing’. “Probably some of the Reds or something.”

The blue dragon remained still under Hydeth's gaze, not that that was anything new. He was usually quite still and quiet. Moving wasn't something that Midnith liked to do all that much, so remaining still under Hyeth's gaze was not out of the ordinary for the blue.
He mulled over his answer to her question for a long moment, trying to decide who was the strangest human that he had met. Mine strange. But not the strangest, I don't think... His mindvoice trailed off into silence and Midnith paused, mulling over the rest of his answer. Hmm. Fajra? The blue gave a draconic frown. He wasn't quite sure who the strangest human he had met was. It was the first time that he had really tried to think of that. How very odd. The blue hummed softly. How 'bout you? Midnith was curious to hear what the pink had to say. Would she say that Hers was the strangest that she had met? Or someone else entirely? The curious blue flicked his tail curiously and examined his pink companion with a slight tilt of his head. G'night grinned slightly, "Well it was . . . interesting. To say the least." It hadn't been all that impressive. Just a lot of swaying and stomping and nearly getting smacked by the pink's tail. "It was a lot of swaying, stomping and . . . stuff. It was interesting enough, I guess. I wasn't a huge fan of it. Hydeth dances better than she did." He hadn't been paying much attention to Hydeth's dancing, but Midnith seemed to be a fan of Hydeth's dancing, for the most part. Some of the reds. Eck, yeah, they were kinda scary. G'night didn't really want to meet any of them any time soon. "Yeah, knowing him, probably. Reds are kind of scary...."[/blockquote]

Hydeth seemed to nod a little in agreement. Yes, the Weyrwoman did seem strange but perhaps it was not in a bad way. She was different to the Fort Weyrwoman and that was probably a good thing considering the attitude she’d had. Hydeth had been thoroughly unimpressed with having to follow such a narrow-minded fool. Then again, some probably said the same of Fajra. She couldn’t imagine what she would do if Je’kyll was in a position where people were horrible to him behind his back. Actually, she did know and it wouldn’t be pretty in the slightest.
Lucky she was a pink really. She thought about her answer to the question. She was tempted to say G’night. He certainly seemed extremely full of life… But he was still not all that strange compared with Hers. She was privy to his innermost thoughts, the ones he kept from the other people. And yet, perhaps G’night was stranger to Midnith. For just as she could hear Je’kyll’s thoughts Midnith could hear His’ thoughts. Well, I agree the Weyrwomen are certainly very strange and odd. The woman at Fort who led us was very odd. Hydeth sniffed.
She did not respect the woman and had deliberately left her name and title completely away from her observations. Je’kyll noticed it but said nothing to the pink. He wholeheartedly agreed. Roha had not truly compared with the leadership of other Weyrs. Shards, it would have been better to have a yellow as a leader than the stupidi and conservative nature of the Weyrwoman Roha. Well, at least they were away from the oppressing leadership of Fort.
“I am certain if she wasn’t so enamoured with Midnith currently Hydeth would thank you.” Je’kyll replied with a shadow of a smirk.
He wasn’t sure that swaying constituted dancing but whatever made her happy he’d be willing to accept it. Whatever worked. He did nod, however, in response to the comment about the reds. He had brought it up but G’night had voiced the opinion he tended to hold. They were all rather insane seeming. He knew Hydeth had anger issues but hers were minimal compared with the reds. “If there were such things as calming pills or something I would happily prescribe a whole boatload of it for the reds.” Je’kyll said mildly.

Midnith didn't miss Hydeth's slight nod. The blue dragon looked pleased by that, tail flicking every so slightly in the air. He was glad that he hadn't angered her by commenting on Weyrwomen. That tended to be a controversial topic, even among dragons. Fajra was quite strange, however. The simple fact that she ruled a whole Weyr made her quiet strange. The thought of doing something like that, which was surely so much work made Midnith doubt her sanity. That must be crazy. Midnith, for one, certainly hoped that he never had to do anything silly like that. Observing was his strong suit, not leading.
At Hydeth's words, Midnith inclined his head slightly. Indeed. The blue said firmly. Extremely odd. He was agreeing with Hydeth's statement in as few words as possible, but that was Midnith for you. He kept quiet. While he mostly enjoyed talking to Hydeth thus far, he didn't particularly want to push it and do something that he was unused to, like say more than a few sentences or anything. He did, however, notice that there was a complete lack of any title given in Hydeth's statement. What she meant by that escaped Midnith, but he certainly noticed that the pink didn't refer to the Weyrwoman as an actual Weyrwoman. It could mean that the pink really didn't like Roha. Or any number of things, actually. He hoped to figure out what exactly she meant by that at some point, but he probably wouldn't manage it for a while yet. Of course, the blue was willing to accept that. He didn't mind waiting. He was a patient blue. G'night grinned at Je'kyll's words, amusement tinging his response, "And I'm sure that if Midnith wasn't equally enamored with Hydeth, he'd have something to say for that." Of course, it was a good thing that Midnith wasn't paying His any attention or the blue wouldn't have been particularly happy with G'night's comment. Not that the bluerider would have minded. The incident would have been forgotten by both of them within a day if Midnith had gotten angry. Still, G'night was glad that Midnith wasn't listening to them. G'night raised an eyebrow for a moment at Je'kyll's next words, but, in all honesty, it was a good idea. Reds were scary, after all! "If it worked, I'm sure you would be a hero across Pern." G'night commented solemnly after a moment.[/blockquote]

Hydeth seemed pleased with her comments. She rarely got the chance to be so frank with another dragon; they tended to withhold many of their thoughts. Then again, she was doing much of the talking with Midnith. He didn’t seem to be the type of dragon to pass what she was saying onto another. Then again, if he did she would surely be able to fight back with tooth and claw. No. Midnith was different. He was special and wonderful. He would never do anything like that. Of course, I suppose that some of the healers Mine has had to work with are also strange. Some of them seem so grumpy.
She mused about that for a short while before half shrugging her shoulders. Even HerJe’kyll seemed to act a little grumpy when he was assigned to his healing. She supposed there must have been some sort of illness that spread amongst them as they were forced to work late hours. When they had graduated, Je’kyll had spent a considerable amount of time helping in the infirmary. Even now he seemed to keep odd hours. They were awake at this moment after all. I guess some of them have to work very hard though…
Je’kyll could hear Hydeth’s comments and got the distinct impression that she was doing a lot of the talking. One-sided conversations were always rather amusing to him. He rather enjoyed hearing Hydeth attempt to entice others into joining an intellectual debate that she would almost certainly lose. She was primeval in her actions. She seemed to think everything would be fixed if she only destroyed it. He thought almost the complete opposite. And yet, it seemed as though Hydeth’s method ultimately worked.
Je’kyll grinned slightly at the bluerider and inclined his head in agreement. Indeed, if he could figure out a way to make the reds less volatile he would have engineered the perfect subqueen. It seemed that every dragon had their flaws but none more than the poor reds. He used the term loosely but they certainly did seem to struggle. “Quite. I am certain we will be heroes one day. It is only a matter of time before Thread falls.” He stretched a little and gestured to the dragons. “As they seem distracted, we might as well see if we can find some food. A midnight snack never harmed anyone.” He rather wanted to try bubbly pies now…

Healers were surely very strange, Midnith thought to himself, moving his head to settle it upon his paws, which lifted it enough that he could silently watch Hydeth. She was an interesting sight, for the most part, and Midnith liked to watch her. Grumpy isn't so bad... Midnith trailed off for a moment, looking curious. Hard work is worse. The rather lethargic blue snorted to himself, flicking his tail. He hated hard work, personally. Which meant Threadfall was going to suck, but Midnith most certainly hadn't thought that far ahead. He lived in the present, and the present right then was Hydeth, his companion and hopefully new friend. They did seem to get along rather well, he figured. At the very least, they weren't fighting, which he figured was good. Midnith didn't really like fighting. It was too much work. Then again, most things in Midnith's life were too much work. That was what happened when you were 'lethargic.' Oh, yes, Thread. G'night tried not to think about it very much. It kind of worried the bluerider, who generally tried not to think about things that worried about him when there was so much more in life that was entertaining or interesting to the bluerider. "That is very true." He answered Je'kyll, tilting his head to the side, "All of the Holds of Pern will be very glad to have our protection when Thread falls. I suppose that that will make us heroes. Unless, of course, we fail utterly at protecting them and Thread decimates their Holds..." G'night trailed off at that, looking slightly worried by that thought. He didn't want to fail at protecting the Holds! He did kind of like Holds, for the most part. And G'night wanted to help in protecting Pern. Pern was . . . well, it was his home! G'night perked up immediately at the mention of food. "Ooh, awesome! And we can see if they have any bubbly pies!" He would, of course, get some klah too! G'night could feel his energy beginning to ebb away, and knew that klah would do wonders for that. No klah. Midnith raised his head to stare firmly at His. G'night would need to sleep eventually, and if he drank klah now, well, G'night would never be able to sleep. Oh, fiiiiiiine. G'night muttered mentally, rolling his eyes. Oh, Midnith was such a buzz-kill sometimes, but for his blue, he wouldn't drink klah.[/blockquote]

Hydeth agreed with that. Hard work was annoying but it was worth it in the end. She did like the feeling after a long flight. Flying enough to get that feeling was the annoying part especially when it came after tough wing drills. She thought that Thread would probably just about be the death of her in a sense. It sure would be tough to do much when she got tired. She supposed that was the reason for having all the annoying drills in the first place. The way she saw it, there was a difference between hard work and flying for fun.
She wasn’t really a lazy dragon, more that she didn’t see the point in working harder than was necessary. Perhaps that was why she sometimes found her energy faltering when she flew. I don’t mind it too much. If it is for something I guess it makes sense. It’s annoying but I do like how I feel afterwards, accomplished and energetic sometimes.
Je’kyll couldn’t help the smile that crept across his features as the other male rider mentioned that the Holds might not like them should they fail when Thread fell. Well, if they whined about it enough Je’kyll would make certain their crops failed. They were, after all, risking their lives for Holds. Some of which, on occasion, denigrated the riders and their way of life. Well, they would get what was coming to them eventually. Sooner or later they would realise that there was nothing they could do against Thread.
“Bubbly pies then.” He said softly and got to his feet. Hydeth didn’t seem to care at all that Hers was wandering off with someone they had only just met. Normally she was a little more possessive over her rider but tonight she seemed to have decided she had made a friend. It was enough to put her in a good mood. Then again, Hydeth seemed to have a thing for quiet blues that listened to her.
“I hope they are good…” They were strange words, even to him, but he actually rather hoped the pies would be as good as G’night had said.

Midnith hummed softly at Hydeth's words, considering his answer to her for a few long moments. I suppose that I don't really like anything enough to be willing to work hard for it, Midnith answered her at last. It was true, in fact. Even when Chasing, which Midnith had done a few times in his time, Midnith hadn't worked very hard in them. It was understandable, then, that he'd never won a single Flight. Though the way that I feel after working hard is nice, I suppose. Midnith was just of the opinion that the feeling simply wasn't worth it. There wasn't a particular reason for his opinion. Midnith was simply more lazy than most dragons. "Bubbly pies it is!" G'night grinned pleasantly, having completely missed Je'kyll's smile at his earlier words. The bluerider tended to be rather oblivious like that. It was hard for him to focus on anything for more than a few minutes, for the most part. He was too hyper for that! Though with the klah beginning to fade from his system, G'night was calming down and would probably be able to sleep through the night, for once. Midnith would be happy about that, G'night was sure. Not that he particularly cared beyond the fact that Midnith was not allowing him to go near klah for the rest of the night. Midnith didn't particularly care that His was leaving, to be honest. The blue rarely cared about what His did, beyond the whole klah thing. Midnith wasn't generally much of a fan of G'night drinking klah, especially late at night. However, it wasn't particularly common for Midnith to forbid G'night from drinking klah. Or G'night didn't really think so, but his memory wasn't good enough for G'night to say that with any certainty. G'night glanced at Je'kyll, grinning cheerily, "Oh, they're delicious! Especially when they're hot, though they do tend to burn your fingers a bit when they're hot..." G'night winced a bit at the memory, shaking his head, "Still, that's when they taste the best." He nodded firmly, convinced in his words. Food in general was pretty good, but G'night particularly loved klah and bubbly pies. He hoped that they had bubbly pies at the Dining Hall! "Shall we head out?" G'night questioned, glancing towards Je'kyll.[/blockquote]

Hydeth thought about it for a moment and then flexed her wings in some form of a draconic shrug. She certainly thought there were some things worth working hard for. Hers was one of those. Other than that, she knew there were some things she thought were rather important. Her few friends were top of that list if only because she didn’t tend to make friends all that easily.
It can be a good feeling. She hummed softly again, At least we see others working hard too. If it was only a few of us doing our wing drills whilst others lazed about I would be most upset.
She started her swaying again as she spotted Hers heading towards the lower caverns. Where are you going? To get some food, Is that a crime? Only if you do something silly to get yourself in trouble and I have to burninate the whole Weyr… … I won’t.
Je’kyll’s mouth twitched in a smile at her words, though. He could not have asked for a better tool for destruction if he’d controlled Thread itself. She certainly was eager to discuss any violence with him… His thoughts tended to egg her on even more. Irrespective, her dreaminess seemed to keep her under control most of the time. Perhaps her flight would even be less aggressive than the last… “Well, they sound nice.” They better be. “Yes, I am rather curious about these bubbly pies now. I only ever ate things I knew were good before.”
He felt he was talking more than he had in a long time. He only ever had a few friends in Fort and the others he usually avoided if only because Hydeth flew into a rage upon seeing their dragons. He was certain that if Hydeth recognised any Fort riders she wouldn’t be too happy. He approached the entrance to the lower caverns and glanced back at Hydeth. She didn't seem likely to become enraged at the blue. He wondered what the blue dragon was saying to charm her so, for he rarely saw her so calm.
