Name: W'al (Whal) Gender: Male Age: 26 (Summer) Sexuality: Bisexual Location: Dalibor Weyr Rank: Weyrlingmaster
Personality: W'al is energetic and explosive, entirely youthful in his demeanor, beyond his few years. He can be just like a kid. He has a tendency towards pranks, causing plenty of mischief and trouble for himself and all around him. Despite his easygoing ways, he does have a snappish temper. He hates not understanding things, and is not a good sport when it comes to losing. He has a quick mind, and is smart, which makes it hard for him to get much experience with total failure. Simple things tend to be the biggest problem for him. The more complex the idea, the more fun and the easier it seems to be for him. He is fierce to protect his dragon; Kerath is his weak spot. He tends to deny his faults; he's good at hiding them too.
That could be because he isn't all that bad. His fun loving attitude makes him easy to get along for most people. He cares. He's kind. He doesn't like mean tricks, and is more than willing to own up for anything he's done if someone else is getting blamed for it. He really is smart. Good in a crisis and cool under pressure, he makes a good leader, though that's something he doesn't care to think about or admit. For all he likes to try to act perfect, he's quite happy to stick to his allotted place in his youth. He doesn't like to think that's he's a role model. His ego only extends to being told he's wrong. He finds more fun in dealing with people younger than him; he might have a bit of a hero complex, but he's more sweet.
Appearance: W'al is tall and skinny, at just over six feet and weighing only 180 lbs. with plenty of muscle to that weight. His agility is hard to match. He is comfortable with the long arms and legs that he has, even though they give him a lanky look. They let him reach high places, or into tight spaces, easily, and give him great flexibility. Despite his slender look, he's built for the extremes. He doesn't have much temperature sensitivity, and his skin is tough and always stays a deep tan with touches of olive. His hair is bleach blond naturally. Summer sun turns it almost white, while it fades down to a very vibrant, bright yellow during the cloudier months. His eyes are mainly a green, but have touches of gray in them.
Family: Whilliam (Father) – Deceased Fal (Mother) – Deceased Pets: Prideful, Black Pillie (0 turns - Quiet, Composed, Somber) Lazy, Blue Pillie (0 turns - Lethargic, Apathetic, Disinterested) History: Whal was born of Nerat Hold, and experienced with the sea. Not that he had much mind for it, as he spent most of his childhood getting in trouble for being lively with the other children and causing all sorts of havoc. However, then searchriders came, two brownriders, when he was fourteen or so. While his friends chased after the riders as they searched about the hold, he moved closer to the two browns. He'd always been fascinated by the blues and greens he'd seen. Even when one of the dragons noticed him and lowered his head, he held his ground, pushing back the fear that tugged at him. One of the riders appeared in an instant, laughing, talking about how he wasn't the smartest, but would make a good candidate for Benden Weyr.
They didn't stay long. He told his parents, who were confused but accepted it, and he was gone, on the backs of one of those browns. It wasn't much longer, a few sevendays, before he was on the sands in front of the eggs of one of the Queens. There were many blues and greens, who were quick to Impress, but then there was suddenly a wave of the newer mutations - pink, blacks, even an iron, and, of course, a few purples. It was on one of those purples that his eyes fells. The dragonet made a beeline to him, and then tripped over one of his wings right at his feet. He helped Kerath up, because he knew the purple's name as a voice came to him. W'al went to go get food for his new dragon.
As a weyrling, he and Kerath were quick to garner a few friends in the barracks, given that both of them were one in the same with their humorous natures. Even as they grew and learned, they were never a serious pair. They were quick to shrug off, even as they will always remember it, when one of their friends in the weyrlings, a greenrider and his dragon, disappeared, dead, during one of their lessons. They graduated, without a single problem, when he was seventeen, and were quite happy to take up a place in a wing. He never had any great ambitions. He always felt out of place at Benden, too, so he asked for a turn or so after. It was to his surprise, and excitement, when it was agreed they would be moved to Dalibor. He packed and said good bye, and was gone with a sevenday of the confirmation that he was going.
W'al felt much more at home amongst the odd new Weyr, and was more than happy to put up being stuck on delivery duty and taking pranks from even the candidates. He settled in quickly, and found his niche. He even found he got along with the Weyrwoman; he liked living there. Though as much of a joker as ever, he was stable there, reliable in his wing and always ready to do whatever was needed to be done. He stuck by the Weyr when the Queen's first clutch produced a new mutation, and followed his orders when the renegades started to cause trouble. He smiled and laughed as much of ever, and took it as it came. In the end, he was surprised as ever when he was asked to be the weyrlingmaster of the odd dragonets that an orange renegade had clutched on the sands, but had accepted it in stride.
Dragon Name: Kerath Dragon Age: 10 (Summer) Dragon Color: Purple Dragon Length: 39 ft. Dragon Personality: Kerath is mischievous by nature. He is chaotic, with rarely much method to his madness. He likes to have his fun. He likes jokes and humor. He likes smiles and laughter. He is a lighthearted soul. Serious things drag him down. For the most part, he gets along best with those who are still young, as he has yet to show any signs of actually growing into anyone very mature. He does like to play the teacher though, and he can be sort of noble. He can also be a tinge of a flirt, though he is very rarely very serious or offensive with it. It is all in good humor with him. He does not take much to heart. He is very hard to hurt, as he'll laugh off most things without a care. He is quick to move forward, and prefers peace.
However, he is smart. He's quick to pick up on new pranks and jokes from his rider. He is almost as quick at telling what people aren't going to appreciate their humor. His intelligence also means he makes a good tactician; he has a good view of what needs to happen. Though he can easily be a million and one steps ahead, he doesn't like to be. He finds planning boring; he prefers instant action. In the end, he knows how to keep his counsel, and keep his secrets. He's good person to go to if you want someone to listen; he is by no means a gossip. He doesn't like to disappoint; he has his own little bit of honor. Of course, what he really prefers is a couple good friends, his rider, and having an amazing good time. Dragon Appearance: Kerath is a solid shade of purple across his entire body. It is deeper and more red than blue than many types of the color, but is a very classic and royal in the connotations it could be related to from the way it looks. The only alteration of this shade is on his wings, which are longer than normal for his body to begin with, where it turns to a darker tone on the sails. He has no scars or other similar distinguishing marks on him. His head is very arrow-shaped, and his tail has a very large split in the end, but he is mostly a somewhat large purple and nothing more. He is more lithe, quick on his wings, than bulky or muscular, but he really is quite agile in the air. He is more awkward, with his wings, when he is on the ground. Dragon History: Kerath knew who was his rider as soon as he hatched. W'al would protect him as he grew; he knew that. His bond with his rider was strong as he grew, and he watched W'al and other humans like a hawk. He found the way that interacted fascinating. He'd even try to imitate some of there gestures at times, but he was never any good. As a dragonet, he was awkward, and, as he grew up and became much better with his lanky body, he had less time to watch humans. His main focus became his rider, especially after a green, a friend of his who'd love to irritate, and her rider disappeared. Though his rider moved forward, it hit him much harder.
When they graduated and were assigned to a wing, he was overjoyed, though he tried to hide it. He was rather more nonchalant when his rider requested they be transferred. He almost forgot about it before they left. However, all of the colors and people of Dalibor amazed him. He became quite happy with his new home, just as his rider did. He loved it, found it amazing, when Kalith, who he liked also, had a clutch with a new color, one with a glossy hide of green-blue, that were cyans. He loved the excitement and adventure that the renegades brought. The idea of teaching the weyrlings from one of the renegade's clutch that they had at Dalibor was exciting for him. He tried to hide it, but he was happy when his rider accepted it.
