Name:[/b] Phareon
Riori
Gender:
Male
Age:
17 Turns
Sexuality:
Homosexual (thanks to F'let)
Location:
Dalibor Weyr
Rank:
Dragon Rider
Personality:
The first thing to note about Riori is that he is very... flirtatious. He likes to flirt, and he likes it a lot. He boasts about having asked out nearly every girl in the Weyr, and is almost always the first one to get to the new girl Candidates when they arrive. While he does have a certain charm about him, most of the time he ends up getting rejected just due to his overuse of cheesey pick-up lines (things like "your charm makes even the sunset look dull" and the like). But even being rejected can't dull his spirit, and he'll usually just pick himself right up and try again later. Or even just try the same line on a girl who happens to be nearby. However, if a girl says no he'll leave it at that and laugh it off-- he'd never try and heavily pursue someone who didn't show an interest in him.
Riori is also very easy-going and carefree. He doesn't seem to have a care in the world, and frequently lounges about being lazy instead of doing work. With the right motivation he can be very efficient and very fast, but it takes a lot to get him interested in the task at hand. He tends to get distracted a lot and can't focus very well if it doesn't interest him. There just always seems to be things out there more interesting than what he's doing at the moment, and he's always trying to find something that captivates his interest. Sometimes it's girls, sometimes it's a cute feline that just so happens to be walking by. It depends on the moment.
Speaking of which, Riori has a weakness for cute things (not just girls) like felines or canines. These things distract him more often than anything else, and sometimes he'll even break away from the conversation just to chase after an unlucky canine. That being said, at times he can also have extreme bursts of almost child-like energy and strength. He can also be very annoying, but most of the time he knows how to stay on people's good sides and when enough is enough.
As for temperment, Riori is rather relaxed and it takes a LOT to get him angry. He tends to laugh off most things that have the potential to annoy him, and jokes instead of getting angry. If someone were really angry at him, however, he'd probably manage some fake-tears and sobbing, in order to get them back on his side again. It's very hard to stay mad at him, as he's just so darn cheerful and easy-going all the time. Well, unless someone didn't like happiness or something. Then it might be best just to stay away from him, as cheering people up is one of his top priorities as well.
He is also very good at "playing the friendship card" in order to get someone to do something for him or help him. He'll say things like, "but I thought we were FRIENDS..." in order to coax his friends to join him on some nefarious plot to spy on the girls in the showers or something. He's very convincing too, and would probably make a very good actor if he were to go into performing.
As it usually is with carefree people, Riori is a very gentle person and doesn't like to hurt others. Physically, that is, though he doesn't really like to break hearts either. He's very good to his, er, girlfriends. Really! He just likes to have more than one at a ti-- ... anyway, he despises fighting and doesn't own a sword or any other sort of weapon to fight with. If it came down to a physical brawl he'd probably just put up his hands and walk away rather than fight. He does have pride, yes, but his hatred of fighting and violence surpasses his "manly pride". He rarely even likes to fight with words, and wouldn't ever raise his voice to someone-- he would probably just shrink away if it came to a verbal fight. Though he can get pretty defensive at times, it never escalates to the point where he'd start yelling.
Appearance:
Riori is about average size for a boy his age, though perhaps a little thinner than he'd like to be. He doesn't work out or anything due to laziness, and his muscles are rather lacking. He's also around average height as well, around 5'6'' or 5'7''. He's not extremely tall, but not short either.
His looks are one of the reasons why he doesn't always get rejected outright for use awful pickup lines, and they have helped him greatly. He doesn't really have much of a mature look about him though, and his features are more softer and childlike. Of course, he doesn't look a day younger than 17, but he doesn't look older either. His face is nicely proportioned and his features average in size and shape. His forehead is rather large though, and he is very self-conscious about it and constantly tries to cover it with his bangs, which had to be grown out rather long. His eyebrows are inward more as well, and don't reach where they are supposed to.
He has black hair that reaches to about his shoulders, and that's about as long as he'll let it grow out to. As mentioned, his bangs are long and reach to brush the top of his eyes, though they're swept off to the side so he can see. His hair may look nice while it's short, but if grown out any longer than it is it starts to get tangled and messy. He likes to keep his hair neat and tidy, though a few pieces do stand up, as hard as he tries to keep them down. Riori's eyes are a vibrant blue color, the kind of color that if one were to see it against a lot of black it would burn the eyes. ... er, yeah. Maybe not to that extreme, but his eyes do sort of clash with his hair color, and they stand out a lot against the black of his hair.
Riori's skin is very pale, and for some reason it just refuses to tan, no matter how much he tries. It doesn't really change color at all, and even with his pale skin he doesn't get red very easily either. The tolerance to that is most likely due to Pern's outdoorsy nature, even if it doesn't tan his skin. If he stays out long enough it will start to burn though, but not so much that he would have to stay inside all his life.

Name:
Type:[/b] FireLizard
Gender:[/b] Male
Color:[/b] Bronze
Age:[/b] 7 Turns
Personality:[/b]
With a heart of passion and pride, this little firelizard hurls himself strongly into whatever comes. Fearless to the point of being reckless, he may seem to forget his own size compared to the dragons that live around him. He sometimes harbors strong delusions of grandeur and imagines that he is the most important Bronze in the Weyr, though these fancies are fortunately rather brief.
Vivacious and lively, he is a noisy companion, frequently adding his opinion in the form of a chirp or twitter, always attentive to his surroundings even if he does not exactly understand his place within them.
Appearance:[/b]
No longer nor shorter than a proper Bronze ought to be in overall length, this firelizard is perhaps a bit skewed towards being more tail than trunk. He is strong, for a firelizard, his chest and leg muscles well developed, sacrificing some sleekness for more staying power.
His limbs appear a touch short thanks to his relative proportions, and the only thing he will ever deign to do with his paws on the ground--or on a person's shoulder, or a table, or whatever is convenient--is either rest or spring off again, disdaining any form of ground locomotion altogether. If he has only to go a short distance he may adopt an odd hopping gait rather than actually walking.
His hide is dark, with only a faint, dull sheen of glimmering metallic cast over its deep khaki shade. It is very nearly uniform, but at the tips of his wings, paws, tail, and snout it fades to a paler color, more creamy and warm. A single darker spot also mars the uniformity of his hide, directly beneath his left eye, shaped vaguely like an arrowhead.
History:
There was once a very shy girl named Rivana. She never wanted to break out of her shell; she didn't want to have anything to do with the outside world. Blame it on trauma as a child or just having a shy nature, she was just very introverted. However, she desperately wanted to be a Dragonrider. No one knew of this girl's dream, as she didn't talk to anyone. She rarely came out of her room, and if she did it was only to help out with chores. So one day, a Searchdragon came to the Hold, searching out potential Candidates. Duh, what else to Searchdragons do? Anyway, Rivana heard this through the grapevine and decided that she was going to go see this Searchdragon.
So she did, and she hid back in the crowd, too embarassingly shy to approach the dragon or his rider. It was a Blue, as most are, and while she didn't go seek out him, he sought out her. It was a dream come true to the quiet girl, who nodded hastily in agreement as she went to grab her things to leave the Hold forever. The Weyr held all sorts of possibilities, she would start talking, she would start reaching out and meeting people! With that, she left her old life at the Hold and hopped aboard the Blue to go to a Weyr for the first time. Ista Weyr, to be precise.
She soon Impressed a foresty-colored Green, Sieth. With Sieth's help, Rivana was able to break out of her shell and actually talk to people, though it was incredibly hard for her. Eventually, she became able to hold conversations with people without blushing or running away out of embarassment. One of these included Lieor, a Harper who happened to be visiting the Weyr. They were around the same age, and Rivana immediately found herself falling in love. Soon after, Lieor went back to the Harper Halls, but he would visit when he could. Which wasn't often, but Rivana didn't mind. Despite her new attitude, she still didn't have a lot of friends, and she barely knew any men. They were happy.
About a year later, Riori was born. He was Rivana's first child, though he most likely wasn't her only one. But being her first, and with Rivana being a Rider as she was, he was placed with a foster mother. He grew up a happy child with tons of energy, and was visited by his mother often. They had a good relationship, as far as Dragonrider-mother and son relationships go, and he was happy. He wanted to be a Rider just like his mother (and for a while he wanted to ride a Green just like his mother as well, and that was until he reached puberty and learned about "sexual orientations").
As a kid, Riori was a troublemaker. He was just curious, is all! He had to know exactly what everything was, and tended to ignore warnings like "don't touch that!" and "you aren't allowed in there". He'd explore every area of the Weyr that managed to grab his interest, which was a lot. He nearly snuck into the Hatching Sands with a friend once, but they are caught by a very angry Candidate Master who shooed both of them away. He wasn't exactly a leader, but he wasn't really a follower either. Riori was too lazy to fully take the lead, but he'd usually give the ideas and suggestions of what the Weyrbrats were going to do that day.
When he got older, he finally started taking an interest in girls. And I mean, REALLY taking an interest in girls. He was 13 when he first asked a girl out, and naturally got rejected due to his almost pitiful inexperience. That, and he made the mistake of asking her out when she was with a group of friends, which is never a good idea, as they all laughed at him. But Riori was a good sport about it and laughed it off, starting his ~hilarious adventures~ with girls and dating.
For a while, his childhood dreams of being a Dragonrider were forgotten about as he went about his life in a Weyr as a normal Weyrbrat. Sure, his live involved dragons, but since he'd been around them ever since he was born it just seemed normal, almost boring. He never considered going to live at the Hold, but the Weyr just seemed to lose it's spark. But he was a kid, and it was only natural that his interests would rapidly change and go in and out of phases. The "I hate this Weyr it's soooo boring" phase lasted until he was about 15.
It would have lasted longer, had he not been started into Candidacy. Ista was in need of Candidates, and naturally all the Weyrbrats deemed worthy became Candidates.
It was different while still being similar to what he was used to. This was the kind of change Riori had been looking for, and he opted to remain a Candidate. Who wouldn't? His mother accepted his decision, and while it wasn't her choice, if she hadn't wanted him to be a Candidate he probably would have declined. He made friends easily, and made some enemies too, but nothing he couldn't handle. It was hard to adapt to the new responsibilities and challenges at first, but he managed. Riori had always been very accepting of change, and didn't mind it as much as others might. Something new and interesting was good, and it had been exactly what he needed to refocus on his goal.
Even being rejected by the dragonets wouldn't dull his spirit, and he continued to stand. He vowed he'd continue to stand until he either Impressed or became too old and they kicked him out. Which he desperately hoped wouldn't happen. The Weyr had it's share of drama and odd Hatchings, but nothing too unusual. Not that Riori saw, anyway. He went about his life as usual, and just as he was growing bored of Ista Weyr at last, a new potential for change appeared.
Riori was a very good eavesdropper, and managed to hear that a select few Candidates were going to be transfered to a new Weyr that needed them more than Ista did. After talking with his mother about it, and how much he would really like to transfer, he got her permission (not that he needed it, but it was nice to have) and went to the Candidate Master to see how he could transfer. He was scolded for his eavesdropping, but the Candidate Master eventually gave in to Riori's pleading and fake-crying, recommending him to transfer... as long as he promised not to act like a complete nutcase at Dalibor Weyr. Snapping out of his act right away, Riori agreed, and was sent off with a few others to the new Weyr.
