The Lower Caverns were all but deserted. Only a very few amount of people ate this late, at the weird time between meals. But R'ori was sitting at a table snacking on a cold meatroll. There hadn't been much to chose from. It wasn't my fault, it was yours,' he casually informed Vediameth. The Green was bigger, but she was still small enough to stay with R'ori at all times rather than waiting outside or in their room. You didn't have to spend all that time oiling me, Vediameth purred lazily, watching Hers eat through the pile of cold meatrolls he'd stacked in front of himself. The light Green dragon's hide looked beautiful, R'ori really had spent a lot of time on it. Aren't dragons supposed to know what time it is? You should have told me I'd missed lunch...! he whined, making up excuses for himself. Of course, he didn't really blame Vediameth, he was just playing around and the Green understood that. No. But it is nice and quiet in here, she added, changing the subject and looking around with her whirling, blue-green eyes. R'ori nodded half-heartedly. It was kind of lonely, though. It would have been a lot more lonely if it wasn't for Vediameth, but R'ori couldn't help but feel a little sad at the emptiness of the Lower Caverns. Occassionally some kid would rush in, only to be extremely disappointed that R'ori had stolen all the leftover meatrolls and walk out. Then it's your own fault that you're alone, Vediameth commented, which made Hers frown indignantly. I don't wanna talk to some stupid kid, He responded, picking up another meatroll, the last one in the pile. The black-haired boy looked at it before taking a small, slow bite. He was still starving after all the effort he put into oiling Vediameth, to think that this was the last one was upsetting his stomach and making it demand more. Shards... maybe he should have woken up earlier or something and actually caught breakfast, too. He chewed slowly, trying to make the last meatroll of his pile last. Next time you shouldn't lose track of time, Miiine~ Vediameth giggled lightly, finding this extremely amusing for some reason that R'ori couldn't quite understand. Oh shut up and let me enjoy this, he said bitterly, taking another bite. Well... at least dinner would be soon, right?[/blockquote]

Lunch was not an issue with Lio. He ate when he felt like eating, not whenever it was available. Sure, this meant that he was surviving off of snacks of meatrolls, the occasional wherry meat, the klah, the wine, the vegetables and fruits, but it was fine. If snack did not fill him up, then he would make for it at meal time. Which, is what he did. He woke up rather late, tired for some odd reason, though it could have been trying to see R`ish and see how he was doing. Mikidith had still been asleep when Lio got up to dress and head down to the kitchens. He had made it to meal time and got enough food to last him until a possible late-night snack. But, he had also grabbed some meatrolls on the way out just to eat, finishing his meal with content. Now that he was awake, dressed, and full, he wanted to go walking.
Miki, are you awake yet? Lio asked as he started climbing down the stairs toward the Lower Caverns, hands still held several meatrolls.
Yes, I am. I am not as lazy as you are, Mine. I am already out on a ledge, sunbathing. And you are still eating, Mikidith replied from where he was at. His normal brown hide looked slightly lighter in Rukbat`s rays, but it could have been the shine rather. Though the few scars on his stomach were noticeably darker.
I am not lazy. You are the one who moved from one sleeping spot to the other. That is what I call lazy, you lazy wherry, Lio teased his dragon affectionately. And Mikidith knew that Lio was teasing him. They were always teasing each other and so forth. It had always been that way since Impression day.
Lio was about to stick another meatroll in his mouth when he turned the corner and saw a boy and his Green sitting, alone, and the boy looked kind of upset as he was staring at a meatroll. Lio quirked his eyebrows in a questioning look as he came up to the boy. "Hey, are you okay? Is something wrong?" Lio asked, making sure things were okay or not okay before intruding on the boy`s alone time. But, he had a dragon, so he was not fully alone. Maybe he ought to give the boy some company. Then again, the boy did look kind of cute and Lio was always attracted to handsome people.

R'ori glared forlornly at his last meatroll, and he'd been about to finally start taking his regular, huge bites and finish it off when he heard a voice. He hadn't seen Lio coming, so the man's voice made him jump a little and nearly drop his last, precious meatroll. He blinked in confusion at the... dragonrider, if the knots on his shoulder were right. Was he okay? Wait, did he really look that upset? It was just food... but his stomach growled almost as if it was unhappy that R'ori wasn't taking food seriously.
"Huh? What?" was his first reaction blinking a few times in confusion. Then a trademark grin spread across his face and he laughed a little embarrassedly, rubbing the back of his head. "Oh! Uh, no, I'm not upset or anything," he laughed awkwardly again, feeling extremely embarrassed that he apparently looked really upset or something. R'ori? Upset? Nonsense! ... but his stomach made another angry noise and he hoped this rider hadn't heard it.
After his embarrasssed laughs died down he looked down at the meatroll he was still holding and figured that instead of looking like an idiot he should just explain. "I just missed lunch because I was oiling Vediameth... uh, that's her," he gestured to the Green who was watching her rider with her eyes swirling the colors of extreme amusement, "So all I had to eat for lunch was a few meatrolls and... I'm still pretty hungry," he said, rubbing the back of his head and laughing again.
He felt a small urge to ask this man to eat with him, but then realized that he didn't have any more food anyway. He took a large bite of the last meatroll and finished it off quickly, not wanting to seem... even more awkward than he already was. If that was even possible. This guy had gone through all the trouble of asking if he was okay, maybe they should hang out a little. But R'ori's voice caught in his throat and for some reason he wasn't able to ask... or maybe it was just because he couldn't figure out how to phrase the question right.

Lio could tell that the boy was embarrassed about having misses lunch. He watched the boy and his Green carefully, noticing that boy ate his last roll quickly to avoid any future embarrassment. Without asking if he had permission to sit next to the boy, he slid in and quickly deposited the five meatrolls he still had left in front of the boy. "Then eat up, my friend. And don`t think that you are taking my food, cause this is your food now," Lio said, smiling at the boy and looking at him. He really hope that he would not feel too uncomfortable with him sitting here next to him. But R`ori was still young, and Lio was a tough guy. He was use to missing meals on the occasion, though he had never gone three days without food. Though, he was not sure if he could survive more than three days of food. The last time he attempted it, Miki had fussed at him for it, saying that the grumbling sound in his stomach was louder than the rumbling sound he made when he was happy. Lio had laughed at that and his stomach had grumbled again, making Lio laugh even more. And, on that rare day, even a dragon was seen laughing.
"By the way, my name is L`can, Rider of Brown Mikidith. But, please, call my Lio. Even my dragon calls me 'LioMine,' so it is what I prefer. Besides, it is short, simple, and sweet, isn`t it? I already know Vediameth`s name because you told me," and he looked down at the Green and offered her a nice smile. After all, he had tried to sit on the other side of the boy so Vediameth could stay by R`ori`s side. "So, what is your name? And how long did you live here prior to Impressing to Kalith`s Clutch Hatching?" he asked, wanting to get to know the person he just gave his last bit of food too. That and he wanted to be friendly. After all, Lio did like talking to people since people tend to have interesting stories about them.

R'ori first smiled in excitement as the five meatrolls were dropped in front of him and he immediately picked one up and began eating it. It was only with a little mental nudge from Vediameth that he realized he was being rude, even if the person who had given him the rolls had, well, given them to him. He should show a bit more grace, no? R'ori had no issues with meeting new people and he wasn't really a shy person, and this Lio guy had given him food. He was an alright guy in R'ori's book, so the black-haired boy had no trouble when Lio sat down next to him. He was too busy stuffing meatrolls into his mouth to notice anyway.
As R'ori began stuffing his face with a second, a Bronze firelizard popped from between on to the table, crawling over to the rolls as if trying to be sneaky. He crept as quietly as possible across the table, and R'ori was too busy concentrating on his food to notice. Seeing his chance, Phareon grabbed a meatroll and scooted quickly out of R'ori's reach. "Hey! Give that back, Phareon! Not cool!" he yelled at the Bronze after the firelizard had already began to dig in to the roll much like His. Vediameth rumbled softly, Just let him be, Mine. Don't embarrass yourself.... her voice was light and tinged with amusement at Hers. "Sorry, that's my fire-lizard," he appologized quickly to Lio, who had just intorduced himself and his dragon right before Phareon had made his appearance. Stupid, useless Bronze.... "Oh, um, I'm R'ori," he said to the Brownrider, finishing off the third meatroll. He only had one left now, thanks to Phareon stealing the fourth. "I was here for a year or so before Impressing," he said with a small nod. Had it only been a year? That felt hard to believe for some reason. He felt like he'd lived his whole life here. He looked down at the last meatroll and then back at Lio. With a slightly embarrassed smile (embarrassed that he had eaten all of this man's food) he said, "Hey, uh, you wanna share this last one or something? I feel bad just eating all your food like that." He laughed a bit self-consciously, though at least he was full now.[/blockquote]

Lio noticed the small Bronze that had appeared on the table. He wondered if her belonged to the boy, to someone else, or was just a wild thing attempting to get a free meal. But, the boy was not fast enough to catch the Bronze before the Bronze had stolen one of the meatrolls. Lio chuckled as he watched the Bronze take off, triumph in his attempt at a free meal. Well, that had been him several years ago when he was a Weyrling. Stealing food off of his friend`s plates. But they did it back to him in return. They were always so jovial and laughing, times like those could never be replaced. But the mind was always open for more memories, whether they are good or bad. He returned his glance to the boy as he quickly explained that it was his Fire Lizard, but he appeared sullen that he had lost one of the rolls. Lio gave him a reassuring smile.
So, his name was R`ori. Not a bad name whatsoever. "Nice to meet you then," he quickly responded and looked down at the last roll when R`ori asked if he wanted to share it. He shook his head. "R`ori, my friend, when you get to my age, you do not have to constantly eat all the time. Work and fun becomes the focal points in your life. And I am not saying I am old either. Do I look old? Anyways, what I am trying to say is that you need it more than I do. You are still growing. So, eat up, my young friend, and afterwards you and I can walk around a bit. Maybe Vediameth would like to meet my Miki? A lot of dragons like meet my Miki. He is a very lovable dragon of his size and color," he said with a chuckle.
Who are you talking to again, Mine? Mikidith asked from his ledge, turning his head slightly from where he laid to get a better eye on the location his Mine was in.
R`ori and his Green dragon Vediameth. You might like her. She is sweet, but still kind of young. Maybe you can impress her with the strength you have as a Brown. Other than that Brown Weyrling, I do not know any other Browns. So, right now, you are the pride of the Browns and the example to look up too, Lio told the Brown, trying to get the Brown so puffed up that he would have to come down from his ledge eventually. Lazy wherry-dragon, Lio laughed in his mind.
