Amber Minerva is running next month, with a large pillie hatching to occur in July. As this will be a large clutch, every player who desires a pillie will get one. But sometimes people want more than one pillie, and it is noted that pillies often prefer to bond to the same person due to their sense of community!
Well, here's your chance to earn a second pillie, either two on one character or one for each of two characters. There are a number of fairly small things that need doing around the site, and we are happy to outsource. The following is a list of tasks; you may claim one to do for us, and in return you'll get a second pillie from Minerva's hatching. You're also welcome to come up with ideas of your own for how to help the site, such as creating new advertisements. Alternately, if you're loaded, you can just buy your second pillie for 500 marks and dispense with the busywork.
- Go through the archives and current threads and send me a list of links to all lessons (candidate/weyrling/wherling) from the beginning of time. * Completed by Chimera - Go through the archives and current threads and send me a list of links to all plot-related threads (anything with a meteor on it). * Completed by Maru - Go through the member list and ensure that everyone has the appropriate member rank (based on the rank of their highest-ranking character, e.g. I am a Lady Holder) and PM me a list of the people who are incorrect. * Completed by Ondine - The list of craftsmen needs to be updated; people can claim one page of the character archives (e.g. Riders, page two; Weyrfolk, which is only one page, etc) and give them a close reading, sending me a list of the craft ranks of each character on that page (some people are SNEAKY and slip it in the middle of a history). + Riders, page 1 * Completed by Zephyr + Riders, page 2 + Riders, page 3 + Riders, page 4 + Riders, page 5-6 + Weyrlings, page 1 * Completed by Raining + Weyrlings, page 2 * Claimed by Minute + Handlers, page 1 + Handlers, page 2 + Candidates, page 1 * Completed by Shay + Candidates, page 2 + Holdfolk + Crafters/Weyrfolk/Wherlings - Sidebar updates * Completed by Kiran - Compile a list of which dragons, whers, firelizards, and pillies are missing images

I'm going to add an additional task:
Can someone go through everyone's profiles and make sure that their characters are listed correctly and that they have all their characters on their mini-profile? I think I'm missing a few of them but I'm not entirely sure. [/size]

Hi! I'm looking for someone to compile a list of which dragons, whers, pillies, and firelizards are missing standard images. The current images are in the records underneath the respective lists. Please include which human the critter belongs to!
Dragons - completed by Fellis Whers Pillies - Digitalis Firelizards - Dragonwher

Yeah, there's a bunch on there that DO have images, just aren't on the table list yet. (All of Unath/Mith's clutch, Warbeebs (new and old), etc.) I think I know who all those are though.

For the Overview of Pern page in the Library:
DISEASE
Before the original colonists came to Pern, they were screened and cleansed of all traditional health concerns whether they be of genetic, viral or bacterial form. Therefore, all diseases are caused by: 1) new mutations in normally benign organisms carried by those colonists, or 2) unique interactions with Pernese-native bacteria and viruses. The latter category of disease can have devastating effects, for while Pernese bacteria and viruses can quickly adapt to the challenges of the human interior environment thanks to their quick generation times, the human immune system is not prepared for the challenges these organisms can present.
That said, it is likely that the original colonists provided immunogenetic boosters to their population based on readings taken during Survey P.E.R.N. and during their initial settlement. While the population of the 11th Pass may have no knowledge of their ancestry, they still enjoy the benefits of the original colonists' work to this day.
There are currently no STDs on Pern. In the South, firehead fever (a three-week fever) is a risk. Most plagues resemble viral influenza, but in Turn 003 of the 11th Pass, a plague was introduced along the coastlines by small, translucent insects with parasitic (blood-sucking) traits. These insects were carried to the Northern and Western Continents by white wherries, a species of wherry normally common only to the uninhabitable Northern Wastes. Trade in white wherry feathers has been outlawed due to these events. It is also known that the plague's insect hosts do not tolerate high temperatures, and that the mark of an infecting bite is a large iridescent patch, usually on the neck or arm. Due to preventative information established by Ondine, a healer and pinkrider at Dalibor, the plague has not been resurgent. Ondine is commonly known as the Savior of Pern. Bluerider K'ite of Dalibor assisted in the establishment of a new wherry disease that was responsible for driving the white wherries south in the first place. The occurrence of this plague accelerated the development of Pern's first microscope.
Firelizards, tunnelsnakes, wherries and other native lifeforms are generally far more resistant to disease than humans or their livestock. Dragons and whers are not known to become ill for any reason, but all dragonkin have a fatal sensitivity to a native plant called smokeweed. Only three pounds of smokeweed-laced flesh are necessary to kill a fully grown dragon.
