Chek actively engages in a lot of very odd hobbies in real life, and is a good resource on the following, especially in the medieval sense since Chek is part of a living history organization. I am willing to answer any and all questions on the following:

Mi'mir and Kinnisoth threads plz! I would love for him (and his dragon, Kinnisoth yus) to meet my Candidate Quellyn. He's not doing so well and Kinnisoth would be a big help to his pillie Misty in helping get Quellyn's story-telling mojo going and make him feel better. Yes, this would normally be Jas's job but Quellyn is intimidated by her atm.

Imber and Rennin. Imber was far more of a recluse before Hikkikoth. Hikkikoth changed things. Nevertheless, having grown up in Dali, she'd be fascinated to discover the originator of the cave paintings.

Yhisk and Jafask. I don't even know, just Yhisk and Jafask. Ultimate do-gooder and ultimate chaos-causer.

CHEK I HAVE A WEAVER (R'lan) BUT I HAVE VERY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF MEDIEVAL WEAVING.

What should I know about what a Sr. Apprentice/Journeyman Weaver should know? What do they use mainly for weaving? What can be a good project to walk the tables for Journeymanhood?

As far as threadstuffs: Damali/Dardranel? She could be someone to look up to for Dardranel (the alphahandlers/betahandlers/etc. are already role models to her) and Damask could scare Dardrask into better behaving...

Yhisk and Lisk could meet as well, because I think it would be funny and they could even be friends - Lisk's a good follower if she gets clear instructions and a clear leader, though she still has a defiant streak. For that matter Tisk/Lisk might work. Tiny gray rides around on relatively large facehugger. :DD

As far as riders, a Mi'mir thread could be interesting - there's always the ever-cheery Nora and Aypoth to interact with, as well as R'lan and L'nor.

Valha/L'nor because optimist/pessimist?

Jester – Yis, yis, this is good. With Tius distracted by Wherlinghood, he’s going to hand a lot of the management responsibility over to his Senior Journeymen. They could have a thread about, effectively, anything related to Smithing.


Maggie – The funny thing is, really the one to talk to regarding the insensibility to pain thing would be Damask and Loki, not Damali! Damali just accepts it, the other two ride herd on her in order to make sure she doesn’t oops herself to death.

Everyone loves Kinni, because she is a delight. Anyone you decide to toss this way I can handle.

In the old days he used to regale people with stories of feeding Girieth a unicorn, having a midair battle with a griffin, wrestling a yeti and also banging a mermaid, amongst other tales.

Rennin needs more friends. Day’ar is busy a lot and Lex might still be avoiding her I’M NOT SURE. But yes, more frands.

You might have a slightly off view of Yhisk. She is, in fact, the ultimate face-biter. Your plot request still stands, however, she is more that happy to bite Jafask in the face.


@chim – Pretty much any plot that strikes you as appealing, toss up a thread and we’ll take it from there.

Regarding Weaving: Alright! Pretty much the difference between a Journeyman and a Senior apprentice is experience, and Journeymen are not promoted until they can prove they are capable of teaching and managing as well as performing the tasks of their Craft. It’s the decision of the craftmasters when to allow someone to walk the tables.

R’lan could reasonably be expected to know and complete all the stages of any particular fiber’s journey from natural item (linen, cotton, wool, possibly silk if I can squish a silk-generating creature into Dali-canon) to finished fiber, they’d know a lot of spinning techniques – spinning wheel and drop spindle, for example, some basic dye recipes and procedures (Masters probably maintain control on the colors that are harder to get materials for), most common weaving techniques, like handweaving, tablet weaving, inkle weaving, loom weaving – on many types of loom, and a variety of other tricky little techniques. They also can lucet weave and complete several other cord weaving methods. They can probably knit or crochet in a variety of ways (nalbinding, for one), and I’d suspect that they can sew a variety of basic garments.

They might just be getting into large artistic tapestry weaving, various specialized types of fabric weaves (herringbone, etc), and lace making.

That’s just off the top of my head, but it’s a good base!

I think Lirmox and Lisk need a good friend, so would you be interested in Yhimere and Lirmox being friends? I think they might get along, as well as their whers. He already has a rival and only has...a few people he really talks to outside of WMs and related people.

On the other hand baby-Lisk helped attack baby-Newsk so LET'S HOPE YHIMERE DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY RECALL THAT OR BE ANGRY ABOUT THAT. shefghsf

F'reki would be awesome, I think that would be the best thread because I think Quellyn would be inspired to tell a few tall tales of his own. And who knows where that might go? :D

I have no reasonable logical things as to why Eithne and H'mod would ever meet but I adore H'mod and I think Eithne would too. Possibly. She's kind of contrary so hard to say. OR T'yer/Valha friendship freediving/eaten by a clam? Or Niorun and Oshumer are technically half-siblings, though I don't know if that knowledge is out there. OR WHATEVER.
