Personality:
Latia is not her sister, and it's really the first thing people should recognize about the apprentice. She's not extroverted, she's not bubbly or sweet, at least not like Adelaide is. Latia is essentially everything that Adelaide isn't, and the same can be said the other way. At least, socially speaking this is true. There are other similarities and differences, but the majority of them that make the two sisters opposites has to do with how they approach other people and their own life situations.
Basically, Latia is incredibly socially awkward. She's introverted to start off with, and talking to new people at all makes her quite anxious. She'll do it when she has to, and if she gets to know you she tends to be somewhat less prone to fighting of the desire to faint, but it's still pretty bad. Even the way she speaks and moves is overly soft and small, every little inch she takes being minute and precise. Unlike Adelaide, Latia thrives when she has to sit still, in fact she likes stillness.
The world is a terrifying and fast moving place, and it all scares her. From a young age she had to learn to focus in on one place in order to not get overwhelmed, but she still has trouble. Emotionally she definitely has difficulties, not because she doesn't want to feel things, because she does. However, Latia gets overtaken by her emotions very easily, and she feels them thoroughly and at extremes often. Usually this stays at a very calm and collected end, almost unfeeling by others' standards. In this even her feelings are changed and moved in small increments.
It falls to reason that because of these problems she has with talking and being around other people that she tends to just stay by herself. Animals were something she enjoyed being around, but even they make noise and sudden movements that can jerk her to a quick defensive state. That's why she began loving plant-life, well that and she just can't handle blood or people so being a healer was out of the question. She enjoys learning, and sitting still for candlemarks reading about various subjects is her perfect way to spend a day.
Knowledge her best friend, and anything new to her is instantly met with a bright, perky response. In fact, it's just about the only thing she'll get bright and perky about. The oddest things really make her this way, and to most people it seems random and out of place, but to Latia it's just what she finds happy and interesting. She takes pleasure in the small things too, the subtle change of color of a plant as it grows healthy, the position of a sun to be just warm and light instead of blaring and harsh, the transition of night to day and back again, and the smell of bread cooking in the kitchens.
The last thing perhaps to mention about Latia is that she is extremely fatalistic. She thinks that everything and everyone has a purpose, and that their life is meant to find and serve that purpose. She's quiet naturally about this belief, but it guides everything she does. Going against her purpose is something that confuses her, but often she just ends up rationalizing the few times it happens with a simplistic, "that's what fate decided for me, it was a little change in my path, a quirk in the stem." That's another odd thing about Latia, she relates many things to plants in her mind as well as verbally. Wether it is a color, or an object, or an appearance or a physical and tangible rendition of a personality, it tends to always come back to plants.
Appearance:
The one noticeable difference between the twins is that Latia keeps her hair short where her sister keeps it long. It's the first thing that people tend to see, and the dark, almost black layers come cropped close her her head in an inverted bob. If it weren't for her feminine features, something both she and her sister share, then Latia may be confused for a young boy at times. Even with them she still is at times if she's facing away or has a jacket on or something else covering up her body or her facial features partially.
She started changing her appearance in small ways a few turns ago so that she wouldn't always be confused with Adelaide. Mostly it's just annoying, but also it's because people like talking to Addy, and well...Latia does not like talking to them, so it just works better when people know that they're two very different people. The smaller difference is that her body is somewhat more tanned than her siblings from her extended time in the sunlight working with her plants.
At five foot, seven inches Latia is neither short nor tall, just being somewhere about average to just above it. She doesn't mind though. She's not so short that she stands out that way, and not too tall that people notice her above them either. She's at the perfect size to blend in, and the perfect size to do her work without being encumbered by any difficulty relating to her height. She's incredibly thin though, more so than her sister may be in some ways. It's partially because she's kept active in her line of work carrying things, but also because she's just been gangly and thin and elongated where her sister *in her eyes* has always had a much more delicate and beautiful shape.
That body is covered by pieces of clothing that she never pieces together for them to look good. Really Latia could care less about how she looks if only because she knows she'll get messy anyway. So, generally they're patched together, smeared with dirt and have snagged bits here and there. They're not always good color combinations either, but she tends to enjoy wearing things that are more muted and earthy partially because they remind her of the plants and earth around her, but also because they stand out less.
