Name:
Galero (Gale’o)
Gender:
Male
Age:
15
Sexuality:
Homosexual
Location:
Dalibor
Rank:
Candidate
Personality:
Galero is a quiet, calculating one. He responds mostly only when directly approached except with his family, especially since the death of his parents, he has turned practically mute. He also clings to his brother, mentally and physically even, and while he will follow Roabin wherever he goes, he is not comfortable at all in anywhere new or strange with people he doesn’t know personally. He has always been shy, but this only has gotten worse during the last two turns, turning into full-flegded social anxiety, at its worst culminating in panic attacks.
It doesn’t always show for his quietness but Galero is actually rather smart for his age, always using his free time analyzing and wondering about the world, eager to learn about it even if it was hard with little to no formal education for them. Silent even sometimes when he is directly talked to, people sometimes might assume him to be stupid or mentally absent, though that is not true. He hears everything most of the time, and actually even more since people think he is not paying attention to his surroundings. Much like Roabin he takes everything personally and only opens his mouth about it when alone with his twin, if he doesn’t start to hyperventilate on the spot.
Appearance:
Galero keeps his yellow, wheat-toned hair short unlike his brother, to better distinguish the two identical brothers. When it comes to clothes he in turn prefers long sleeves and trousers, even hoods at times. Despite his body language screaming uncertainty and shyness with him hugging himself while outside, he is just as lean, fit and tall as his brother. His eyes are the shade of pale blue.
Family:
Mother; Galaabin (deceased)
Father; Roale (deceased)
Twin brother; Roabin
Pets:
None
History:
Roabin and Galero are the typical children of a minor farming hold; They were raised to be farmers to take over where their father and mother would leave off and happily accepted the hard but satisfying lifestyle.
Of the two Galero was, from the start, a bit quieter, despite being as happy as a youth with a loving family could possibly be. It came naturally to him, maybe because Roabin was so outgoing for both of them that he was content to let his brother do the talking and analyze the situation from a distance before joining it. He would spend his days napping or studying with what little material he could get his hands on, and was always filled with endless questions about the world. It was a beautiful mystery to him how things worked.
But life took a dramatic turn during what seemed to be an innocent stay at the twins’ grandparents in High Reaches one Turn. During the stay the two brothers heard of a spreading plague that came practically out of nowhere and before they knew it, they were unable to go to their parents due to a firm quarantine over High Reaches. Desperate and scared, they could only wait for it to pass, unable to contact the rest of their small family. Even the grandparents were a small comfort during that frightening time.
And then the nightmare came knocking, just when the quarantine was about to get lifted and they would have been free to resume their everyday life back at the farm; A flit came, early at dawn to be found at the grandparents’ house’s window, and brought a message that the two youngsters has feared; The disease had claimed their parents.
The next thing Galero knew was he couldn’t breath, despite gasping with all his might for air. He lost consciousness soon after, marking the first panic attack out of many he would have in the future in this now endlessly scary world. If there could be a turning point in his mental health to be marked, that was it. The already quiet and more reserved of the two siblings almost completely shut down.
With nowhere to go anymore, the freedom after the plague was useless; Roabin and Galero hung to their remaining family and especially to each other for comfort which was never enough to quench their despair. Galero rarely ate or got up from his cot, no matter how much Roabin tried to encourage him, begging and pleading only got him to stay alive and not to do much else.
That was until they got Searched, or so it seemed. Now candidates, they did not fit in anymore, and felt like they could never really belong at all from that point on. They even transferred from their original Weyr to Dalibor, to start completely anew the wrecked life, to fix it somehow by removing all bittersweet memories. Time would tell how this transfer would prove to help the recovering teenagers, even if the start was not a good one with the creeping panic and anxiety the two have been feeling ever since transferring. They cling, like they cling on so many and yet so few things, to the hope that Impressing might give some relief, some sense of belonging and purpose for them again like the farm and the parents had done previously. Even though Galero is more sceptical about this than Roabin, doubting a dragon, no matter how connected to either of them, could possibly fix everything. It wouldn’t bring their parents back.
Dragon Preference:
It doesn’t really matter which dragons either of the twins, Roabin or Galero, might Impress. It would, however, be very interesting if their dragons would vary in hierarchy or in personality a bit (or a lot!). I feel diversity might be fun since the two are identical enough already now, hehe.
The most awesome thing would be for them to Impress separately despite Standing together, that would definitely rile up some much-needed dramas!
