PB: Kristine Froseth
Name: Nymora (Nim-more-uh) Gender: Female Age: 16 turns Sexuality: Bisexual Location: Dalibor Rank: Apprentice Wher Candidate (Secret Dual)
Personality:
One of the most easily seen facets of Nymora's personality is that she's a temperamental little thing. Though tiny, this girl holds a lot of personality, and everything she does she does with a vigor and energy all her own. Trying to tell this candidate "No" generally just doesn't work, and when you add her stubbornness with some of her other traits, it comes down to just not respecting authority for the most part (she does know when to suck it up and listen thank you very much, she just gripes about it). Additionally, she isn't just stubborn, and temperamental (often snapping and quick to anger), she's hotheaded too. She thinks she can handle anything, and if someone says otherwise...well, it's just not good.
She likes a challenge, and wether it is of her ideals, physical ability, or anything else, she takes the bait every time. Somewhat impulsive, Nymora thinks only of showing everyone around her she has what it takes to be the best human she can be. Not candidate, or future leader, or girl, or whatever else, just human. She's "beyond the system" so to speak and sees everyone on a more or less level basis. No one person should be above the others, not even someone who is older and "wiser." Even the youngest child can hold more truths than the oldest elder, and everyone learns from everyone else when the time comes.
Oh, and does she ever want to learn everything. Wether it is about history, Weyrs, other crafts, it doesn't matter. She wants to know, and she wants to know now. "Why?" is her favorite question, and she can be quite demanding with her questions. She can be very witty and sarcastic too, and any taken will be given back tenfold. No one bests her easily, no matter what it is. She just enjoys a bit of sarcasm anyway, and having others not always knowing what she means is like a game to her. She loves playing with new people and being mysterious also means it's easier to keep her real intentions away from prying eyes and minds.
That includes her own. Often she will act like she cares about others, going through the motions she is expected to have. When it comes down to it, the feelings are generally hollow. Or, are they? The strange thing about Nymora is that she thinks her actions are forced, that they are something she does to cover up a lack of feeling in order to protect herself. In reality, and oh is this confusing to explain to someone who isn't her, Nymora is pretending to pretend. She doesn't want to admit she cares for someone, so though she goes through with what she wants to do, she just pretends that it's something she is forced to do.
What she tells herself is her real emotions, the lack of, is actually the mask.
Additionally, she never wants to fall in love. She has seen and heard tales of what happens when your mind is lost in the downward spiral, and it terrifies her. Plus, just eww. She can't really see herself liking a guy or gal that much, and she stays away from any and all that happen to get past her bristly exterior. Hang around with others and challenge them? Oh yeah, she'll do it all the time. A moonlit walk by the stream though? Nope, she's running the other way thank you very much.
Kids are not much better, because honestly she just had no clue what to do with them. Not to mention she just tends to get bored really easily too. Playing with them? Eh, it's better. Watching them and having to make sure they're not getting into trouble though? Well, that's just no fun, she likes trouble, so why would she stay out of it? Oh, and don't even get her started on trying to help or comfort. You're just back to the above paragraph with that one; complicated and unwanted feelings are just icky, okay?
Appearance:
If you haven't seen Nymora, it's not too hard to figure out which one she is if you've heard anything about her. Apart from other girls who may be tall and curvy and just "stunning", Nymora is tiny, and well...fluffy, at least where her hair is concerned. She may learn to deal with the hair issues as she gets older, but for the most part she doesn't get bothered by it, just slightly frustrated from time to time. To add to this, it's quite thick, though she does try her best to keep it orderly simply because it's easier that way.
With creamy, pale skin as well, it's easy to mistake her for a handler already instead of just a candidate; and her aunt and uncle still wonder just how so much time outdoors could lead a girl to being so without any evidence of sun. Still, she takes what she has, and she will retort to anyone that she likes the way she is, and at least she doesn't have to get used to an all new color scheme when she impresses. That same feisty personality shows in her body as well, the build formed by quirky, but small, curves and a childish sort of beauty that her mother and aunt often says she will grow into.
The most expressive part of her, and her favorite really, are her eyes. A lighter, teal blue and grey color, they are large and almond shaped on her face. The contrast certainly adds what some may call an alluring aspect to her as well, though others just think it's a bit odd like the rest of her. Maybe even a tad bit cold. What can be agreed upon if you have known her long enough, is that they show her emotion far more than she would ever like.
As far as clothing goes, Nymora will grab a pair of pants and a loose fitting tunic before anything else. As a beastcrafter and having grown up on a small ranch and farm, she knows just how messy clothes can get. Sure she doesn't mind putting on a bit of finer cloth when festivals roll around, but for day to day things she just goes with whatever patched-up, half-way decent piece she can reach first. She takes good care of her boots though, and any other shoes she happens to have collected over the turns. That's not many though, and even some of those haven't escaped the need to be patched together. What she does enjoy wearing though are scarves or leather chords with clay beads that her Aunt makes. Every turn on her turnday she remembers getting something new, and she's held onto every one of them.

History:
- Nymora, Mykka and Kamor's parents met in the way that some often do at Cotholds and other places on Pern. They were there during a gather, Nykka having lived there all her life, Morain simply passing through. He was older than she was by a good few turns, a traveling "artist" as he told her. She fell instantly for him though, and Nykka soon was pregnant with Mykka and Kamor, the twins. However, in this Cothold in the Northern Continent, Morain did not stay. He came and went often, but Nykka too enamored by what she thought was love never spoke against it.
- Two turns after she gave birth to the twins, Nykka gave birth a second time to Nymora. Morain didn't see his daughter for a full turn, not knowing about her existence at all. For the first month he stayed with the small family and gave them gifts and played the doting father, but soon enough adventure was calling his name and he left Nykka and their children once more. This time Nykka's sister Nyst scolded her sibling for trusting the man and always falling back in his arms, but it would be another two turns when Nymora was 3 and her brothers 5 that Nykka finally listened.
On her Aunt and Uncle's farm and Ranch, Nymora and her brothers and cousins thrived. She wasn't the only little girl anymore thankfully, but the five all together were fast friends and often played together. It was a life of luxury as far as they were concerned, and as long as they helped with chores as they aged, they were never really told what to do or how to act. Nymora certainly didn't get much help like that from her mother, Nykka having drawn inward after the move when Morain never tried to see her again.
With her mother seemingly out of commission, at least according to Nymora's mind, the young girl followed her Aunt and Uncle as forms of authority. The two held a much freer and laid-back life style, thinking that stressing authority and challenging it was something good to teach at a young age. Because of this, Nymora always was allowed to speak her mind, and it is honestly where much of her more stubborn and hot-headed traits stem from. It was also at a young age though that she started to "pretend to pretend."
So much had happened despite the peaceful existence, that she didn't want to admit to feeling things that she did. She didn't want to say she cared for her mother, but she was told to treat her well. The same went for her siblings and cousins and Aunt and Uncle. The only thing she really let herself care about, and acknowledge caring about, were the animals on the property. Runners were her Aunt's work, and Firelizards were something her Uncle had began to dabble with.
They had a Queen, and a few Sub-Queens there and often their eggs would be sold whenever they rose to fly. Her Uncle did try to figure out which breeding pair would be best, urging his females to pick suitors he thought were better for bloodlines and traits. Sometimes it worked, but mostly it did not. Nymora took an interest in it though, and bloodline work in general, and that's what she decided as a youngster she wanted to pursue.
- At 8 the family moved to the Western Continent where they could get more land, needing to move away also hopefully so that Nykka would awaken somewhat and move on with her life. It took two full turns to move everyone and what they would start with. They sold most of their Runners though and began anew on Western. Finally, Nymora began to see a change in her mother who began to come out of her shell more, but by now Nymora was quite jaded and didn't trust the woman. She started asking questions about her father instead, and became harder to deal with as she started to push against the adults' authority more and more.
- At the age of apprenticeship, she chose to follow her Aunt and Uncle in Herding as she had always planned, but she took an interest in the firelizards more than anything else. She begged her Aunt and Uncle to let her have a pick of one of the eggs, and finally she was allowed to. When the eggs hatched, she stayed with the other buyers who had bought interest in the clutch, but the one she had had her eye on was not the one who impressed to her. She was mad at first, after all loosing out on an Orange would do that to you. Still, she loved the little black that did choose her, and quickly named him Haze.
- A few turns later she started going to Dalibor Weyr to help tithe her family's goods, and there she met the Herders. The first few visits were just innocent questions and shadowing around the more amiable Journeymen, but eventually the Senior Journeymen started to take an interest in the young girl and offered her an official apprenticeship under the Weyr's Herders. Filled with joy she took it much to her Aunt and Uncle's dismay and hurt feelings, but nonetheless they let her go without saying too much about their state of feeling betrayed or won out by "better" craftsmen.
- During this time she starts appreciating the Whers, but never considered volunteering even though she was reaching the age where she could. They were just fascinating to her though, and when the Wild Whers attacked Dalibor, she marveled at how they were able to protect the Weyr. Still, she went about her apprenticeship, feeling that that alone was what she was meant to do in her life.
- When the Plague went by, some of her family got sick, her mother even died. Nymora's only remark was one of apathy and harshness, stating that her mother was "weak" and that is why she couldn't fight the sickness off. Really though, deep down where she refused to admit it existed, some part of her broke for the loss, and she even found herself shedding a few tears at random times for no apparent reason that sevenday after she heard the news.
- The most recent events occurring, the poisoning of the herd beasts have led Nymora to decide she wants to take a stand and help the Weyr, making her life worth something more than a craft. She finally went to Audren to ask to join the wher program as a candidate, stating her case and her drive to help her new home as best she can.
Wher Preference: I'm okay with anything for her, male or female. Some ideas *favorites bolded* are; grey, green, black, cyan, brown, viridian *in case of dragon impression, or you bring in a new wher color*, red, orange, and bronze, or gold if you think she'd make a good candidate. Of course, I'm open to anything though, these are just some thoughts. :)
Mauling is good and all too, just don't kill her or make her loose a limb, a few fingers or toes is okay though.
As for wher names, Nymsk and Nymosk are preferred.
She's a secret dual just like Aedai is, but I'd like for one to impress one type of creature and the other to impress the other please.
