Name:
Rilga
Gender:
Female
Age:
17
Sexuality:
Bisexual
Location:
Dalibor Weyr
Rank:
Dragon Candidate
Personality:
Rilga is a rough and tumble sort. Active, friendly, and definitely not afraid of getting dirty. She is a hard worker, and very dutiful. She always makes sure that she has finished all her chores before moving on to having fun. After turns as a herder, she prefers more physical tasks, rather than sitting still, but she tries not to complain about whatever she has to do.
In her cothold, she was considered a tomboy. Rilga chafed against the more conservative roles for women and was not looking forward to having to settle down with a man and start a family. The Weyr has opened up a lot of freedom for her. At the same time, she is naive, and still getting used to the culture of the Weyr. A self-described country bumpkin, she is in awe of the dragons. Fortunately, Rilga is not afraid to ask questions. She's never been the shy type, and it probably won't take her long to adjust to life in Dalibor and start making new friends.
She does get homesick, missing her family and friends back at the cothold. Another thing she pines for are her pets; several canines that belonged to the whole cothold. Rilga is an animal lover and has always been surrounded by different creatures. The herdbeast poisoning worries her greatly and she hopes to see the shortage solved before too long.
Appearance:
Rilga's appearance radiates practicality. Her blonde hair is cut into a straight, short style that is easy to take care of. Her clothing is plain and functional; she doesn't like dressing up, and prefers things that are easy to move around in. She doesn't wear jewelry or makeup. The only accessory she wears is a straw hat whenever she is outside, something that she always had when she was herding and has brought with her to the Weyr. Her skin is tanned from being out in the sun and there are freckles across her face. She is average height, about 5'4. Rilga has not been blessed with curves; her build is about as straight up and down as a girl's can be, and she is also fairly muscular from her herding work.
Family:
Aladrene- Mother
Gerekyn- Father
Galia- Sister, age 11
Kalen- Brother, age 19
Daralyn- Brother, age 20
Garren- Brother, age 23
Pets:
None
History:
Rilga was born in a remote cothold beholden to High Reaches. The cothold focused on herding goats. They made most of their living off of this, and aside from trading, rarely had contact with larger communities. Aladrene and Gerekyn had married young, when she was eighteen, and soon had three healthy baby boys. Rilga was the first girl. Although Aladrene was happy to have a daughter, no child in the cothold was pampered, and Rilga was not spoiled at all. She did, however, grow up tussling with her older brothers, chasing them through the fields, getting into mud fights, and other shenanigans.
She was six when her sister was born. Galia was a bit of a "surprise." The youngest daughter soon took up the place of the "girly" one, leaving Rilga to be a tomboy to her hearts content. Her father would bring the children out with him when he grazed the goats, and they started working at a young age, Rilga included. She always had chores to do, the tasks getting more complex as she grew. It was a simple life, but not an easy one; she was often hard at work from dawn until dusk.
The family moved to the Western continent not long after the explorations began, when Rilga was seven. They settled near Crescent Hold. Rilga was young enough to settle in fairly easily.
Rilga was always a friendly person and was close with her cousins in the cothold, as well as children from the families they traded with. At times she did wish that she could meet more people and see the world. She wasn't dissatisfied completely, but as she moved towards her teens, she found herself staring into the distance more often, wondering what the other places were like. Maybe moving at a young age had planted the desire for something bigger in her.
Puberty confused her; she hated that her body was becoming a hindrance to some of the things she wanted to do. When her mother told her that her first blood meant she could have a child, she panicked, thinking about having to leave her freedom in the fields for raising babies. Her mother laughed and told her that it wouldn't be for several years now, but the fear stayed with her. The drama among her peers was even worse, especially because Rilga was little interested in romancing anyone.
All of that was interrupted by the plague. Several members of the cothold perished, including Rilga's father. The family went into mourning, and when they recovered, they were all changed. Rilga took more responsibility on her shoulders, picking up some of the work that her father used to do, alongside her brothers.
Things had a more somber tone for the next few turns. Then, a dragonrider visited the cothold. He was visiting herders trying to find information about an ailment that had afflicted the Weyr herds. Rilga was looking at the dragon when he took an interest in her, and the rider said she had been Searched. It was difficult to leave her family, but Rilga knew this was the change she had been looking for. She said goodbye to her mother and siblings, who assured her they would manage without her, and went to the Weyr.
Dragon Preference:
No preference! I'm fine with any color and gender. Mauling is also 100% cool with me, I love making drama for my characters.
