Personality:
"So what if you can see the darkest side of me? No one will ever change this animal I have become"
Oh Raeline is not the good girl her sister is. She's a firm believer of "if it feels good, you should do it" and that means getting herself into trouble and getting a taste for everything in life. She's a bright hearted girl, cheerful and full of laughter, but there's certainly something to be wary of when it comes to Rae. Watch that cheeky smile and everything it suggests. At only sixteen, Raeline has mastered the sultry and the flirty, but most of all, she's mastered the cheeky. That being said, that cheeky little smile has hidden all the pain and the sorrow in the world and she's rather good at acting at being the good one. She's grand at acting innocent, but remembering that she isn't is one of the first keys to working out the complex little woman that is Rae.
Rae loves life. She loves everything about it, loves the changes and the wild unpredictability. She's a wild girl at heart, and the more unpredictability in life, the happier she is. Unlike Aedai - who she probably drives nuts with this taste for danger and love for something wild and exciting. All she wants is life to live it to its fullest and that's exactly what she's going to do.
"Don't hold me up now, I can stand my own ground,
Raeline is loyal to one person and one person alone. Well, aside from herself. Aedai is the only one who can ask from anything from this young woman without her thinking that there's got to be some way to con them out of everything they own. It's also the only person that can give her anything. Gifts and favours are viewed with extreme suspicion, growing up Holdless teaches a girl never to take anything for free - unless of course it's something she wants. Favours and gifts don't come without a price and Rae isn't about to have her ship sunk by one moment of weakness.
She's harder on herself than anyone else, pushing herself above and beyond perfection to make herself better. If she's hurt, she'll still work to her best of her ability to act like she's not. That's one of her flaws, she's determined to be better than others that have had more their entire lives, determined to work at her best and she'll work herself to the ground if it means making sure that her sister and those she loves are taken care of. She might be wild and a liar and everything else bad under the sun, but when she loves, she loves fiercely, and that means working herself to death to make sure they're okay.
Keep quiet no longer, We'll sing through the day, Of the lives that we've lost, And the lives we've reclaimed.
If there was a craft that she could have chosen if she wasn't born without a Hold, it would have been a Harper. If she sings, it's a pretty enough sound, untrained and unperfected and she's clumsy at best if handed an instrument so there's no natural prodigy waiting there, but in her dancing... Raeline loves to move. Whenever there is music, she's got to move, whenever there's even the slightest hint of a tune, she's moving. In a Terran world, her style would have been known as belly dancing, but to Raeline, it's just bits and pieces of movements she's found and loved and developed with every town they visited - add in the jingly metal bits, and you have a girl who's lived every moment of her life perfecting a style of dance that's mostly her own.
Everything about her is brightness and life - at least when you first talk to her. Music is her heart, but there's more to her life than that. She loves friends, loves talking to people - but lacks those close companion ships that other people might take as common place. It's very much a matter of the girl with her face pressed against the window. She wants friends, but she doesn't know how to trust anyone that's not family, she wants something more than what she has, but she doesn't really know how to ask for it, our how to chase it.
"But I needed one more touch, Another taste of heavenly rush"
Her sister has a fascination with fire, and Raeline seems to have developed an uncontrollable urge to steal. She can't help the desire, and while she claims it comes from having nothing as a child, it doesn't help the fact that she'll always have a substantial collection of things that aren't hers.
Quick witted, clever and cheeky she might be, but she's also a theif. And she's not ashamed of the fact either. She wants it, it's shiny, therefore, it should be hers. SHe also has a horrible temper. Much like a child in the way she'll snap back and stamp her foot - tears too, if she thinks it'll have even the smallest chance of working. She's a manipulator, and while she's quick to lose her temper, that passion goes into everything she does. It's all a part of loving the life she has, and Rae isn't going to change any time soon.
Appearance:
"The saints can't help me now, the ropes have been unbound
I hunt for you with bloody feet across the hallow'd ground"

Raeline remarkably resembles her elder sister in looks, right down to the colouring of their hair. While it might have just been an idle wish from her mother, it represented itself well in the two girls. For someone who loves attention like Raeline does, the bright red hair that is a slightly darker shade than her sister's certainly works well. It's not quite the same fiery shade as Aedai's, but that's fine with Raeline - she likes being a little bit different. Her hair is also naturally straighter than her sisters, falling straight with only the slightest hint of a kink down her back until it reaches the underside of her shoulder blades, where it's uncerermoniously chopped off to keep it managable and yet enough that she can pull it into various styles and fiddle with it as much as she wants to. She's lucky in the sense that she actually has good days with her hair, and it's not as prone to frizz and crackle as Aedai's is - that would just drive her mental.
That hair frames a playfully rounded face, more childish than her sisters and still growing into some of the beauty that she likes to believe will some day be hers, coupled with just the faintest dust of freckles and definitely feminine features, it seems not much of her father survived to populate the world in the delicate build of her face - from the dusky pink, full lips to the straight line of a small nose and a smile that just screams cheeky with that dimple on one side of her mouth. Raeline knows she's pretty, and she plays her exotic looks right up to their full worth, and if she could get her hands on natural colours to accent her features, she'd have been all over that. Aedai's eyes might have been a nice sky blue, but Raeline has her fathers eyes - if nothing else, a darker blue with just a touch of grey to give them that smokey, mysterious look that she uses to their full advantage.
Unlike her sister, who hates her full-curved body, Raeline loves it. She loves the fact that everything about her is toned and fit, coupled with the attention getting body she's worked hard to keep. Being small in stature at only five feet, her build is delicate enough that in the harder years she easily leans towards looking worn and thin - if it wasn't for those curves. It's all for her dancing, which is what she tries to wear constantly. If it wasn't for the cold nights, Raeline would wear the midriff baring top and low slung skirt, and when it comes down to it she'd rather be bare foot and running around than decked out in the shirts and pants her sister prefers. If it wasn't for Aedai enforcing warmer clothes on her, she'd probably freeze her toes off.
The one thing that remains near constant on her clothes is metal, anything that will make a jingling sound when she moves and sparkles is sure to get her mark of approval, and the fact she's a dancer ties in directly to this. She'd like to have more pretty things, or outfits made out of silk and colours to make her skin glow, but it just doesn't happen for her - so she collects little pieces of metal to add to her skirts, to make them jingle and add to her bracelets around her wrists. Really, if it sparkles, she wants it. She'll be inclined to wear more practical things when she's not playing however, when she's actively trying to steal something - or when Aedai gets her hands on her - then she'll be dressed in whatever's warm.

History:
"This is a twisted love story...
Raeline and Aedai's parents were more than just a little bit of forbidden love. They never should have met, not when her father was Shunned (Raeline had spent her life trying to work out new horrible ways that it had happened, an injustice, she was sure) and her mother was nothing more than a young healer at one of the holds (again a mystery). Pity was the arrow cupid loosed, and their mother took pity on their father. As she tended to him, and knowing the consequences, something changed. She slipped away into the night after him, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Raeline was born four turns after her older sister, and never developed that obedience her parents quickly came to appreciate in Aedai. Raeline was quick and curious, full of laughter and fun, but she had no respect for rules. Her temper flared quickly, and she was prone to temper tantrums if she didn't get her way - which she usually did if only to keep her quiet. It was the protection Aedai offered that allowed her to get away with it - especially since she taught her everything she knew. Every knew trick, they learned side by side, Raeline toddling after her sister with grabbing hands and quick smiles. Unlike Aedai who listened to the fears of their Elders, and maybe understood them as something to be feared beyond their little campsite, Raeline was both too young to understand the terrors beyond and what was going on in the weyr. She simply wanted to live and play - so that was all that mattered to her.
Oh the move to the Western Continent. When their father made their mother promise to bring them along with him, and that was the last they saw of them, Raeline went from a pleasant and constantly happy child to a downright terror. She screamed, she fought, she cried and refused to do chores. She made life miserable on the boat and was even more inconsolable the more changes were introduced into her life. At six, Raeline was not okay with any of it. When her mother managed to find passage over there without their father, and then when they were shuffled back to the other Holdless, Raeline sulked. It was, however, at this age and older that she began to dance. She caught sight of one of the harpers practicing before they were found out, and Raeline got stars in her eyes from that moment.
While Aedai and she fooled the caravans into thinking they were apprentices elsewhere, she harbored the wish that she really could learn properly - a wish that died away as she learned to lose herself in the beat of feet and the jingle of metal. It was wonderful to feel free without being marked, but the few times they were caught out started Rae's suspicion of the world. She hadn't asked for her place in the world, but they would still judge her for it.
It was as a young girl that Raeline realised that her sister had a rather unhealthy love for fire, but considering her own "itch" whenever she saw something she wanted that wasn't hers, she didn't comment on it. Rae's mother scolded her every time she found the small stash of things the girl had taken each time, and no matter how many times Rae tried to explain she hadn't meant to, it didn't matter, so she simply got better and better at hiding the evidence - not that she wasn't caught and belted across the head a few times for her efforts. Having Aedai through this time was one of the greatest blessings she could have. Someone to accept her and love her regardless, and to help her get the pretty dancer outfit she had been adoring since the day they managed to make off with it.
And then their mother died. Once again Raeline's happy face retreated to sulk, and scream at the world. She was more risky when it came to theft, challenged people openly, started arguments and cried herself to sleep - all without trying to let her sister know. She was a big girl now, she couldn't be seen sobbing over something like death. She was lucky not to get ill, though most claimed it was her constant movement - which only served to make her even more playful and dance wherever she could - but she worried for Aedai. To lose her would have killed her, she was sure of it. While Aedai wondered if there was something more, Raeline cursed the life they'd been born with. She knew there was more, they just weren't allowed to have it.,
When Aedai agreed to help the Holdless with their schemes, what could the little dancer do but agree? Family is everything, and she'll have to stick with it until the end.
Dragon Preference:
May fantasy become reality
Mauling is fine (she'd be so upset man) just don't kill her, and as for colour, or preference I really don't care xD As long as it matches her, I'll be happy. Actually even if it doesn't I'll be happy. I love everything, so as long as it's a match people will enjoy reading I'll enjoy it~ Sooooo have fun?
