When winter rolled around, she let them keep their coats. Like giant snow flurries, the sheep baahed and snuffled in their pen. They were peaceful to watch, and she had to keep an eye on them. She was hoping for lambs this spring, cute and small and sprightly. At her side, Kobold sneezed. He was looking better, though much more rugged now that the wounds had healed into scars. His ears perked a bit, and he growled as Wight ambled to the edge of the pen. Now a fully grown Ram, he was less troublesome but still had his moments.
Lliira placed a gloved hand atop his head, and scratched behind his ears. The canine rumbled but turned away to nose her jacket. Light was fading from the skies, and she had yet to eat dinner, Kobold was intent on not letting her forget. Getting behind her, he nudged her with his head like he would a reluctant ewe, growling a bit as if saying 'Get a move on, you'. She laughed but scooped up Okku, who waved an antennae to his canine companion.
“Fine, fine, we'll eat. I promise, ok?”
That wasn't enough for Kobold, who continued pushing her forward.
Esriii, the pillie scolded from under her arm, but he got no response. With that they were herded into the dining hall.
Okku was set down and took a place by her side, now that the cold ground was left behind. Kobold took to Lliira's other side, shifting from herd-canine to guard-canine easily. The escorted her from the entrance, around the edge to the food line. Kobold didn't even try to nab a bite from her plate as she loaded it up with food. He knew, as a good canine, he would be given his bit soon enough.
Tray clutched in her hands, Lliira looked over the crowds, Riders, Weyrfolk, Weyrlings and Candidates eating dinner. Handlers and Wherlings eating breakfast. No matter what the crowd was comprised of, there were just too many people. Getting another nudge from Kobold, Lliira took a deep breath and made her way over to a table. Maybe, if she was quiet, she would blend into the surroundings. That was what she was good at, right? Lliira chose a spot at the end, where Kobold could put his head in her lap, and Okku could wander about underfoot. Spearing a tuber, she looked down the table at the others eating. Well, so far this wasn't too bad. The way she was thinking, one might think this was her first night in the dining hall. But instead, this was just an every day thing for Lliira.
