Jasil huffed as she poked around the room that was shared by her human and the rest of the fair. So many things were going on this season, and she found herself fussing some more over things that were really just fine the way they were. Sourtai snapped at her a few times, and that just made the green pout, then go to beg petting from her person.
While the petting and scratches he was willing to give was nice, it was not really the attention that Jasil really wanted. Instead, she fidgeted along her human's lap, making disgruntled sounds.
A bit amused at her, Letorin poked at her a bit, trying to get a feel for what was agitating her so much. It only took a few minutes for him to figure out, thanks to Sourtai's flight. He gave Jasil another scratch. "Maybe you should go play outside," he hummed, giving her a mental flash of the weyr full of sunlight and open space.
Jasil perked up. Oh, yes, that was something that sounded nice. She chirped at her human, then jumped off his lap. Once free, she betweened to outside.
Feeling the sunlight on her wings, and the chill of the wind on her wings, Jasil gave a loud trill. She knew exactly what she wanted now, and she began to fly higher and faster, heading for outside of the weyr. As she did, she called out, wanting to see who would follow her.
This was her time, nothing to mimic, or copy. Instead, she would be herself, and she wanted to fly. Let the others chase her, and she'd see who called to her the most.

So.
A blue firelizard was playing with the sunlight, weaving around branches, ducking around where the light filtered through. He was trilling happily, sending frequent images to his person and as well as his person's dragon. The blue flit was very fond of Fortath, as he tolerated his antics and even played with him... unlike the other blue flit and the clawed furry felines. Right now though he was content to play around in the branches.
He ducked around a branch and shot up to the top of the tree, curling around the top most branch. The sun was warm, and the air was chill... it was nice out. He wished Al'dr wasn't such a baby and would come outside with him to play. Silly human, the snow and cold was fun! Hmm, or maybe it was because he was stuck on the ground and couldn't enjoy it like he could? Nah. His was just no fun sometimes.
There was a call, and in his excitement he nearly fell out of the tree. The blue flit perked up, standing on his hind legs, tail weaving around the tree to ground himself. His head tilted back and forth like a curious puppy, whooo was out to play. Oh! There she is! Maybe she will dance with him?
He shot out of the tree and spread his wings, beating them to catch up. He let loose a pleasant trill to grab her attention, gracefully looping around.
The sun glistens off you! Will you dance in the sunlight with me? It will be fun!
He'd whistle at her, almost coo-ing. She was very pretty.

Kira's attention was caught by the sudden winging of her black flitt, Nightwing. She was surprised by how quickly he exited the room and heading to the skies. She frowned for a moment. What could have possessed him? Tauth glanced out the door towards the sky. 0a2879]I believe that he is going after a green that is flying, he observed. Kira's eyebrows raised. He was chasing?! The black hadn't done that before. What drove him this time?
Nightwing wouldn't answer. He couldn't. He was tired, tired of being with three other flits, tired of being with Tauth. Tauth didn't irritate him like the others, and Flirt had learned to leave him alone for the most part. Starfire didn't try to cheer him up, just curled around him when they slept. That was enough, though. He was just ~tired~. He wanted.... He wanted...
He winged into the skies. He wanted to be with another flitt. For once. It wasn't in his nature, no, he was dark and broody and liked being alone better than with anyone by far, but today he wished to share himself with someone else of his own choosing. He hadn't chosen Starfire, or Flirt, or Spindrift. He didn't have a choice. They had all chosen Kira. Today he would choose. And he chose Jasil.
He winged after her as intensely as he did anything. Nightwing gave a hesitant trill, unsure of how he would be received.
I would like to play with you. Please, let me play with you?
He couldn't croon or convey sweet things, but he could ask her if she would let him follow.

It was fun, flying like this, and Jasil was happy to see that she had attracted some attention from others. They were going to see her, not one of the others, and she gave out a delighted call at that.
Spreading her wings more, the green began to climb for height. The air was crisp and cold it washed over her, which just felt wonderful. That meant she needed to go higher, and so that was what she started to work on.
The blue got a whistle back, and Jasil gave a bit of a spin as she flew up, showing off some. They had come to follow, she wanted them to see what she could do. And they could show her what they could do. She wanted to pick the best, the most distinctive.
When the black joined them, Jasil was pleased, and of course invited him to play. Everyone was welcomed, and it was very nice of him to ask. That got her to go into a loop, brushing first past one, then the second of her followers. It was plenty for her, and she was thrilled that they wanted to follow.
With another call to follow, she went upwards yet again, wanting to see them follow. This was going to be the best flight every.

He felt good.
The gentle winter sun hugged his coast-blue hide, good because all his best friends were here, human and dragonkin alike. With a pleading chirp he traipsed over to Nora, demanding petting. She obliged, her free hand rubbing his belly as she scratched something into a tanned piece of leather with the other.
No. There was something else, beckoning to Triantan through the frigid air. It was nearly tangible, but it was no juicy insect buzzing around and waiting to be eaten. It was greater, it was a she, it was a firelizard's Flight! A Flight! He was yet a young firelizard, but old enough to Chase - the blue had went after a wild or two in the recent past, but he had been rejected. But this was his chance! The call held a faint familiarity which he didn't consciously recognize - his bonded and her bonded knew each other, and their fairs had met before. All that mattered right now was to fly after that one flit, that lovely Jasil!
Oh, sweet Jasil, you are the mysterious, green forest, the prettiest of leaves! You are the evergreen, the queen evergreen with all the light of the sun!
Triantan's species wasn't endued with the power of speech, but that was what he seemed to say to Jasil through his body language, mental images, and vocalizations. A gust of wind blew him back, but he shook his tiny head and winged further, more determined than ever.

Nightwing had to admit he was both relieved and delighted when the green allowed him to join her and looped by him. He let out a trill of happiness and moved to follow her. He was small and lithe and could twist and dart, and he wanted to show it all to the lovely green! She was far more fun and less annoying than Flirt, Kira's green. Thank goodness...
He listened as a blue joined the Flight and began to shower the green with compliments, pretty words he had often heard other flitts give to Theirs or to other flitts. This was what they were complimenting on? The black hummed a bit in his throat. He wasn't one for meaningless frills or conversation. No, he had come to play, to show off how wonderful he was and how much he liked Jasil. The other blue was asking if she wanted to dance! Well, that seemed more reasonable.
He followed her upwards, corkscrewing gently as the thermals caught in his wingsails and lifted him to the skies. What could he say to her?
You make my world less dark!
It was a poor excuse for anything, but it was what Nightwing had. It was his first Chase, after all, and he was learning by example. The black didn't have any experience Chasing and he didn't know what would appeal to the green. For now, though, he wished to share the feelings she evoked in him. It was almost like when he had first seen Kira, how darkly she had been feeling. How she became an integral part of his world, a being to share the darkness with. But Jasil was different for that reason. She wasn't dark, she didn't share the dark. He was the darkness but striving for something more.
Your green makes me feel happy!
Ugh. Terrible. But he would learn with time. If he didn't win this one, there would be another one. Already Nightwing could tell that this would not be the only Chase he would be in.

Jasil had only been this happy once, when she had found her human, and he was full of affection. They were all chasing her, and she let out a happy sound. Especially when a third chaser joined in. This was just better and better, and Jasil teased them again by doubling back and dancing in between them. Just close enough that she brushed a wingtip here and there. Then she headed skywards again, sunlight making her wings glow green.
She could let this go on longer, and she was almost tempted to. But one of them already got her attention, and she only let the flight go on a bit longer, enjoying this. Being the center of attention, being their focus. But she still needed to make a choice, and she knew who it was going to be.
With a croon, she moved to her black chaser. Nightwing had been polite and nice and said the prettiest thing to her.
Yes, he was definitely the best of her chasers, though the others had been nice as well. But she matched herself up to Nightwing's pace, curling her tail around his.
He was her choice, and Jasil crooned at him, pleased with everything. She liked flying.

Nightwing had been thrown when Jasil came and fluttered between them, a dance that was teasing and enticing and playful all at once. He pumped his wings a bit harder to try and get closer, but she was elusive and a very good flier. The black was despairing a bit that he would be the one to catch her. Of course he wouldn't, she was too pretty and too sweet and too playful to want a darkling like him. Especially when she could make her wings glow like a beacon in the darkness that called out to him, a beacon that tantalized him with beauty that he couldn't have.
He was about to slow down and drop out when Jasil dropped instead, flying in front of him and matching his speed. A hesitant chirp escaped. Then a trill of joy She curled her tail around his and for a moment the black had to think about what happened next. How did it...? Oh! Oh, yes. Well, that was easy. Why hadn't he done this before? Obviously he had been missing out on things. He should have been out and about like this before!
Nightwing crooned back, fully agreeing that flying was wonderful. His wings spread wide, he guided her to the ground. For one of the few times in his life, he was actually rather.... Happy. Nightwing hoped that he would make Jasil happy. Maybe he would win next time, as well.

Giddiness rushed through Triantan as the flit flew further and further. He felt on top of the world! Another coo soared through the thin air, hopefully reaching Jasil. He didn't care. This was just all so much fun anyways. He cheerfully whistled to the rivals to which he held no ill will..
..He saw them choose. The upbeat navy in his eyes grayed just a bit. Oh well! As that color began its long fade to his usual teal, he let a deep, rich, farewell call tinted with Aypoth's melodies out to the others, and the happy couple soaring down.
Goodbye, loveliest evergreen! Goodbye, mysterious black! Triantan wordlessly chattered.
Goodbye.
