{desc=K'ian will never forget}((dated to very soon after CalKal))
K'ian had specifically requested to have chores in the kitchens. Kamikith had been proud of him, it was the first time K'ian had made up his mind he wanted something and then asked for it confidently. It was a silly thing to ask for, but he knew that soon Kamikith would be too big for them to be allowed to do chores in the lower caverns. He had always hated and streessed over kitchen chores, but somehow, it was very, very important, now that he try and get them for as long as possible. K'var had understood.
He stood up tall as he entered the kitchen, scanning above people's heads to try and find the person he was looking for. That was one thing his height was useful for, he had discovered. This place smells very good, my K'ian, I can see why you like it here. It is a very warm place. I am going to go find a nice corner where I will be out of the way. And maybe I can find some food for me here as well so you do not have to worry about feeding me!
"Kay--- I'm sorry, I don't know your new name!" K,ian hunched suddenly as he startled at someone calling his name. Maelie beamed up at him. "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. What are you doing here, we never see new Weyrlings here except to eat. Does your pretty yellow want food?"
My K'ian is doing chores here. And yes, I would greatly like food, without disturbing my K'ian while he does his important work. He is going to be a wonderful rider, you know. I am Kamikith, what is your name? The yellow nudged Maelie's hand. She laughed in delight.
"Oh he's a gentleman, K'ian. Congratulations, I'm so happy for you!" She gave the tall Weyrling a hug. He looked down at her in alarm, unsure of what to do about this. On her shoulder, Bubbly cheeped in alarm, hiding fro the big dragon. He liked K,ian. K'ian had several flitts and was nice to him, but this big yellow thing...
Oh and who is this? He looks afraid. It is ok, little flit, do not be afraid! My K'ian and my friend-brother Hikkikoth are very afraid of people, perhaps we should start a group to help you all gain confidence!
"Um, I was looking for Yentil," K'ian told Maelie quietly. "I usually do my kitchen chores with her."
"Oh that's a wonderful idea, Kamikith! Bubbly would benefit from seeing that he isn't alone, I think." Maelie beamed at the yellow as she released his rider. "Yentil? I thought I saw her chopping tubers over there... Yes. Yentil! We have help, would you please show K'ian what he's to do? I have cakes in the oven to tend to."
K'ian slunk over to where Yentil was, a little hunched and nervous now. He looked over at her from under his messy bangs. "I don't want to be a stupid, stuck up dragonrider," he muttered, shifting his weight from foot to foot like a child who was in trouble for some reason. "Weyrlingmaster K'var said I could do kitchen chores while Kamikith was still little and then when he's big enough not to need me all the time, maybe. I, um, I just, um, just wanted you to, um, know that I, um... I'm not gonna forget I'm a drudge, even if I'm a rider now too." He stared down at his feet, his face red.
