Name:
Roabin (Ro’bin)
Gender:
Male
Age:
15
Sexuality:
Heterosexual
Location:
Dalibor
Rank:
Candidate
Personality:
A gentle teenager, Roabin is a person who wouldn’t hurt a fly. He is very protective, but avoids open aggression to the very end. He is the ‘turn the other cheek’-way sort of person, and also rather takes that slap himself rather than watch anyone else get hurt, if it would come to an extreme, unthinkable case like violence. He prefers talking things out but even then has trouble to defend himself right to someone’s face, to the point where he might be considered a rather sad doormat, even a bit more empathetic than would be recommendable for one’s own mental health. He also has a tendency to take things personally and over-analyze them, even if he wasn’t insulted on purpose. He might not say anything out loud during the situation but later will confide in his brother and cry about it rather than confront a bully or a critic, though he might step up to defend someone else. It is easier for him to see strength in others than to recognise his own.
Of the twins Roabin is still the more courageous and curious one, especially when alone with Galero and not surrounded by strangers. He is just as dependent on his brother as Galero is of him however, and the two never even separate anymore these days for more than mere minutes without getting stressed and panicked. But when the two have been by themselves for too long, in the confines of their rooms, Roabin is the one to usually, if a bit carefully suggest that they go out, maybe chat with someone or go exploring the view. In him lies a potential for a happy, loving and social youth who would love to adventure too but after the setbacks in their life Roabin still has to mentally recover.
Appearance:
Roabin is used to outdoor work with heavy lifting and such, which shows; he has visible muscles for teenagers and his back is straight as it could be, supported by those muscles earned from hard work. Roabin has shoulder-length hair with the fair shade of wheat. He is used to simple work-clothes of mostly brown hues, though he usually modifies them a bit so people can tell him apart better from his twin, usually with simple things like the rolling up his sleeves or such. His hair gets messy at times though he tries to keep it away from his eyes by swiping them behind his ears, unless he is feeling threatened and feels the need to hide his pale blue eyes.
Family:
Mother; Galaabin (deceased)
Father; Roale (deceased)
Twin brother; Galero
Pets:
None
History:
Roabin and Galero are the typical children of a minor farming hold; They were raised to be farmers to take over where their father and mother would leave off and happily accepted the hard but satisfying lifestyle. Roabin would spend his free time from working the farm by chasing wild animals and bringing bugs back to his brother, who would in turn study them, try to understand why certain types had more legs or why only some of them had wings. Roabin did not care that much of the ‘why’. He just wanted to do things, pestering his calmer twin to join him on adventures in nearby forests and swim in the lakes like he so very much loved to do. Life was great, even if a bit calmer and free of action Roabin would have liked.
But life took a dramatic turn during what seemed to be an innocent stay at the twins’ grandparents in High Reaches one Turn. During the stay the two brothers heard of a spreading plague that came practically out of nowhere and before they knew it, they were unable to go back to their parents due to a firm quarantine over High Reaches. Desperate and scared, they could only wait for it to pass, unable to contact the rest of their small family. Even the grandparents were a small comfort during that frightening time.
And then the nightmare came knocking, just when the quarantine was about to get lifted and they would have been free to resume their everyday life back at the farm; A flit came, early at dawn, and brought a message the two youngsters had feared for; The disease had claimed their parents.
Roabin was speechless, for once, without even realizing tears streamed down his face. And then Galero lost his consciousness. In that moment Roabin turned to the parent neither of them had, feeding the younger twin, getting him to walk a bit at least instead of just withering away in his cot. He couldn’t afford to lose his brother too, neither of them did.
With nowhere to go anymore, the freedom after the plague was useless; Roabin and Galero hung to their remaining family and especially to each other for comfort which was never enough to quench their despair. That was until they got Searched, or so it seemed. Now candidates, they did not fit in anymore, and felt like they could never really belong at all from that point on. They even transferred from their original Weyr to Dalibor, to start completely anew the wrecked life, to fix it somehow by removing all bittersweet memories. Time would tell how this transfer would prove to help the recovering teenagers, even if the start was not a good one with the creeping panic and anxiety the two have been feeling ever since transferring. They cling, like they cling on so many and yet so few things, to the hope that Impressing might give some relief, some sense of belonging and purpose for them again like the farm and the parents had done previously.
Dragon Preference:
It doesn’t really matter which dragons either of the twins, Roabin or Galero, might Impress. It would, however, be very interesting if their dragons would vary in hierarchy or in personality a bit (or a lot!). I feel diversity might be fun since the two are identical enough already now, hehe.
The most awesome thing would be for them to Impress separately despite Standing together, that would definitely rile up some much-needed dramas!
