You wouldn’t know it by looking at her, but little Mouse is hungry all the time. She might consider herself a wher, but she wasn’t about to eat the raw meat that Gennesk eats. In broad daylight isn’t usually the best time to go steal food from the kitchen, but maybe if she was especially cute today, she might be able to get some handouts…and snag some bits while no one was looking.
She left Charlie outside with Fishie because the former was too hairy to be allowed in the kitchen, and the latter was too big to hide in her shirt. Ever since the hatching, Bray and Selene wouldn’t leave Mouse alone. She had a baby flit on each shoulder as she slipped inside and skirted around. The child was thrilled at her own sneakiness. No one would ever see her when she was this sneaky! The flits agreed, even though Bray didn’t think she was all that sneaky and was pretty sure that everyone was watching them, but Mouse didn’t need to know any of this.
The little girl crouched by the door to the kitchen pulling Bray down off of her shoulder and instructed him to go in and scope out the situation. The brown told the girl very politely that he didn’t think she’d be able to steal very much at all, but Mouse told him that he was being ridiculous and that they’d be able to steal all the food that they’d ever need if he’d just go see who was in there.
With a resigned little flit sigh and a cheep, the firelizard took off and disappeared into the kitchen. Selene pressed herself against the girl’s neck and watched her back while Mouse was busy staring at the door, thrilled with her best plan ever.

Taevon had his own belly rumbling as well, as he toddled his way towards the kitchens. Normally he would've been in the company of one of the riders he called family, but his father had allowed him to go off on his own and run about in the Bowl. He had sent his brown with him, and the pillie was scuttling just behind him, ensuring the toddler didn't get into trouble.
Tae ran his hand along the pillie's back, giggling to himself at the clicks he recieved. When he spotted the canine and the other pillie waiting outside, he quickend his pace to a bouncing run, Dapper going only a touch faster to keep up. When he made it to the outside of the Dining Hall, he looked between the two of them, then turned to the brown. "You stay outside with them. Make friends!" He smiled, before leaving his 'guardian outsde with the others.
The Dining Hall seemed to be empty at this time as Tae made his way in between the tables and chairs with ease. He stopped where he was when he saw the girl crouching next to the door that led into the kitchen, and wondered what she was up to. It didn't even take a full moment for him to decide to find out, going up behind her without all the sneakiness that she had used, before simply stating out loud. "What you doing?"

Selene had seen the other child before he came up on them, and had tried to warn mouse, but the little girl wasn’t listening to her, and after a while, the firelizard just gave a defeated little chirp and settled back down. She wasn’t prepared for Mouse’s surprise at the boy’s words and the girl jumped a full two feet in the air, spinning around to purse her lips at the boy. Be quiet! She chided him, even though he wouldn’t hear. Selene trilled a little and looked up at Taevon, transmitting a picture of Mouse successfully stealing food from the kitchen to the boy’s mind.
Mouse didn’t think she ever needed to talk as long as she had her flits.
The little girl blinked at the boy, realizing she didn’t actually know him. The girl’s acquaintances were all whers, dragons and various pets. She didn’t interact with other children on a regular basis, so sometimes it was difficult for her to relate to them…but in Taevon, she saw an opportunity she’d be stupid to pass up. He was even smaller and cuter than herself. Together they could rule the weyr with cuteness and get everything they’ve ever wanted!
It was a brilliant plan, really, and Mouse didn’t know why she hadn’t thought of it before. Selene didn’t know how she was going to get across the depth of the excitement Mouse was feeling to the boy, but she tried her best, the pictures she sent him just exaggerated pictures of he and Mouse ruling the weyr. She was distressed and just chirped lightly. Mouse didn’t notice and just started tugging at Taevon’s arm, her face bright and smile massive.
How on pern could this ever go wrong?

Taevon had never had any intentions on scaring the slightly older girl, but when he realized he had, he let loose another giggle. As she turned on him, he expected her to say something. Yet, nothing ever came. She just gave him a look, while the little lizard on her shoulder showed him what she was doing.
The boy had had enough images coming from the collective pets hs family owned to understand what was going on. So, was that all she wanted, was some food? She certainly didn't have to steal it! The kitchenpeople were nice, and always gave him food when he wandered his way inside.
As he recieved more images, he had a bit harder time making sense exactly what the flitt was attempting to portray. However, he understood enough of it to know that she wanted to be friends, even if he didn't quite get that she was trying to use his younger age to her advantage, at least for the moment.
His grin matched hers as he came up with what he did, and he nodded excitedly. "Yes. Friends." He said simply. He remembered that it was food she had wanted, and pulled his arm from her grasp. "You want food? Wait." He then simply walked right into the kitchen, obviously not having or not caring about the stealth and sneakiness that Mouse had done.
Hardly a minute later, he came back out with two small slivers of a fresh made bubbly pie, just enough that the drudge who gave it to him felt like it wouldn't ruin their dinner. What he had done exactly would be a mystery, though it was most likely just simply politely ask for the pieces and not much beyond that.
He handed Mouse her piece before biting into his own, happy that he helped her get what she wanted, plus a bonus of something for himself too. When he had finished the small piece, he gave her a smile. "My name Taevon. What yours?"
