{desc=K'ian will always be Yusk's baby}It didn't matter that he had just Impressed, K'ian stll cautiously made his way down the hall to the Candidatemaster's office where he knew Yuri and Yusk were. Kamikith, his eyes whirling a happy blue, trotted after him easily, looking around at all the new things life had to offer.
The hatching had been scary but, to K'ian, worth it since he now had Kamikith who would never leave him. Still, he knew it had been hard on the CandidateMasters. It had been hard on him too. He had been terrified and sure he never wanted to Stand again. The good news was that he never had to again. The bad news was that Yusk was probably still scared and sad because she had lost one of her babies and so many others had been injured. He had to make sure that she was ok and to comfort her like she had comforted him so many times when he was a terrified, confused candidate.
He knocked at the door of the office, Kamikith waiting patiently beside him. He was excited! He was going to get to meet his K'ian's wonderful clutchmother that he had felt so much about in K'ian's mind. The former drudge had never known his real mother, so he had nothing to compare it to and Yusk's comforting love was the closest thing he had ever known. Obviously to Kamikith, Yusk had taken care of K'ian like Callistath had cared for Kamikith's egg, just waiting for the two to meet. This was going to be a wonderful day where he could thank the wher personally for taking care of his K'ian like K'ian had thanked Calistath when he stepped on the sands to Stand.

Her head lifted at the sound of a familiar foot fall, the tick of tiny claws against stone. Delicate nostrils flared briefly, and she lugged herself wearily away from the comfort of the large, double lined custom bed that Yuri had painstakingly put all his effort into making her so her bones wouldn't hurt so much when she grew older. Canvas lined on the inside, to make it durable against her claws and teeth, the soft sueded hide that covered the rag-and-sweet-chafe stuffed lump was her favorite bed to sleep in, and she would often drag it from their room to the office they'd established in the Candidate Barracks. Ooh, naughty babies out of nest.[/i] She informed Yuri privately, shaking the last visages of sleep out of her system the best she could.
Yuri startled, looking bleary-eyed over a document he was penning to the families of those who demanded an answer, an explanation as to their child's injuries, emotional states, or just pleas to hear that everything would be alright in time. Who?
She cocked her head. Kaydi- no, what new name?[/i] She paused, knowing the name wasn't right, and waited for Yuri to give the proper names to her.
Ahh, that pair. Yuri relaxed, only a little. K'ian is his name now. K'ian and Kamikith. He was proud of the anxious youth, and more than a little relieved that the lad had gotten such a wonderful, supportive match in the sunny little yellow.
Yusk fetch.[/i] She confirmed, heading for the door to wait for the inevitable knock. Once it came, her paws thunked against the door, the sound of claws ticking against thick wood and stone, along with a whuffle of effort as she tugged the two bolts free of their homes and dropped them with a wooden clatter to the ground. She lowered herself back down to all four legs after, blinking owlishly at the small yellow. "Small" for a dragon, anyway, most of them were damn near her height, this one nearly so, and she studied them both.
Yes.
Good.
She stretched her neck out to sniff the snout of the little dragonet curiously. Most of the time, Yuri discouraged her from getting too close, especially after the hatchlings had just eaten, but they had come to visit her, and thus she had a reason. She looked back up, eyes blue-green with pleasure as she moved her attentions to her not-but-always baby with a nibble of affection to his fingers and a burble of greeting. Baby growing up, good baby. Yusk proud K'ian. Do good. She praised him, moving off to the side to allow the pair access to her second home, one that K'ian was more than familiar with.
Yuri smiled in greeting, white teeth stark against the dark skin as his green eyes warmed at the sight. "Good evening, K'ian, Kamikith. It's good to see you both." Alive, well, and happy; the way they were supposed to be.
They were an example of why he did not regret taking his job as Candidatemaster.

Kamikith beamed as Yusk opened the door. Before his rider could usher him inside, he bowed low to the green wher. Thank you for allowing my K'ian to stand for me, he told her, taking the ritual phrase out of his rider's mind and twisting it a bit for his purposes. And thank you for the honour of letting me Impress one of your babies. I will take very good care of him, I promise. K'ian gave him a little smile, letting Yusk nibble his fingers and scratching her eyeridges. He beamed with pleasure when she told him she was proud. That was worth more than anything anyone else but Kamikith had said. He was going to miss seeing her regularly. He would have to visit, now and then.
K'ian smiled shyly at the greenhandler, ushering Kamikith in now. The yellow was bouncy and happy, looking around with great interest. "It's good to see you too," K'ian admitted. "We were worried. We knew Yusk was upset and the hatching was so scary... I... we both just wanted to see how you were holding up, both of you. Yusk always took care of me when I was sad and scared and Kamikith is so good at cheering people up I thought that... It's silly but I hoped we could help a bit."
My K'ian told me all about what a wonderful mama you are, Kamikith told Yusk brightly. He says he would not have been able to stay a Candidate if you had not been there for him and sang to him and supported him. He said you take the best care of your babies. He didn't mention the hatching or the sadness. It was better not to speak of it, he thought, focusing just and how wonderful she was for all of her babies.
K'ian gave Yuri a shy smile. "I... I was hoping that even if I'm not a Candidate anymore I can still come visit sometimes, if you're not too busy and K'var lets me. Just because... Because I'll miss you both," he admitted, looking down at his feet. "I don't want to be a bother, though."
