Makkosk gave a bit of a huff as she finally was able to give her Bones the slip. He had all but ordered her to wait for him to get something to eat himself before she could go exploring, but that was going to take too long. She wanted to explore now, and her Bones would just have to catch up.
The green chortled to herself almost silently, the sound coming out as a rumble deep in her chest, as she started out. Her Bones was good at catching up, he did it all the time. Besides, this place was -new- and she wanted to see what it was like. So many new places!
With another rumble of laughter, she nosed at the door until she was able to get out. Then she was off.
It wasn't quite dark enough out that she could head for the outdoors, because she could explore the tunnels at any time. Outside was for darktime only, so she should do that when she could. Giving a big stretch once she was out of the room, flapping her wings a few times at the same time, Makkosk was off.
Following her nose, she traced back the different smells that meant people and other whers. First, she would find out where they all went, then she would find new places to check out. Yes, this was a great plan!

Makkosk wasn't the only wher out exploring. Mouse had slipped away, as she often does to explore the weyr. Mouse and Charlie were currently watching an insect scuttle along. His name is George! The girl said very prominently, poking the bug with one boot covered foot for a moment, only to have the newly christened ‘George’ clattering along at breakneck speed away from the girl and the dog. George nooooooo! The child wailed after the bug, taking off after it with her overgrown puppy snuffling at her heels.
When she finally realized that she wasn’t going to be able to keep up with the bug, she turned and pouted at Charlie with a little huff. This is your fault Charlie! You scared George! I just wanted a new friend. The dog certainly didn’t know what she was saying, but he had been with her long enough to know what her looks meant and he pressed his long nose under her hand, whining softly in amusement. Of course it never took Mouse long to forgive her best friend and she clung to the canine long after the animal had gone completely rigid.
She noticed what he was noticing soon enough in the sound of claws clattering over the floor and the child bounced up, eyes wide and happy. Someone’s comingggg. Oh how fun. CHARLIE! Let’s have fun! We’ll surprise them! Because a Mousey surprise is the best surprise, apparently. The girl grabbed the canine’s head and tugged him towards a particularly dark dip in the wall. She pressed them up against it, but Charlie didn’t particularly like this. The canine whined and tried to pull away, but Mouse let go as soon as they were both hidden by the shadows.
In actuality, she probably wasn’t hiding that well at all, but she was sure they’d picked the best hiding spot ever! And she waited, crouched in the darkness until the wher came snuffling towards her. At the last possible second, she jumped out in front of the green smiling widely! Hi, hi, hi! I’m Mouse! Were you scared? You’re pretty! I love you lots!
Cue Mouse clinging to the green’s face and planting a kiss on her nose even as the dog grabs the back of her shirt in his teeth and jerks her backwards sharply and Mouse remembers her manners with a huff. ’M not supposed to hug strange whers. Sorry pretty. I forgot! And the child pouted because all she wanted was to be friends with EVERY WHER EVER.

There was a snort and Makkosk froze, then she gave the small girl a lick. Rather like her small Bones. Giving the child the closest thing to a grin that she could, Makkosk nosed at the child, sniffing at her.
Bones, Boooones, found small thing.
There was a feel of surprise, and Bones making a curious sound. What does small thing look like?
Makkosk was very proud to show him, and she licked the small thing again. All right. Don't nip her.
It was good to know that she and small Bones had taught Bones that Makkosk could be trusted with small things. A bit more nudging at the girl, and Makkosk tried to sniff at the canine with her. Needed to investigate all the things, as she was learning her way around this new home.
She did lick the canine as well, chortling to herself. Then she sat for a moment, trying to figure out what she should do. Because she still wanted to explore, but there was a small thing here. And Makkosk knew that small things were very good with petting and attention. Which she did enjoy.
As she thought, she nudged the girl with careful strength. Makkosk would think so much better with some attention, yes.
