This probably wasn't the best idea, but Rhysia was tired of being cooped up in the Barracks and she wanted very much to borrow a few things. For the first time in a while, she was intentionally looking to take something, but the problem had nothing to do with that. It had to do with what she took along the way. It's easy to take something you mean to pick up, but it's just as easy for a kleptomaniac like herself to claim another victim with her idle hands. She tried to curb any unwanted stealing by shoving her hands deep into her pockets and only focusing on the path ahead to the kitchens.
All I need is a bit of meat and a bowl, she thought to herself, turning corners to avoid collision with some rather shiny pots and pans. The drudges were few and today Candidates were to help clean the kitchens after supper. Still, Rhysia appeared quite out of place. No one stopped her though; they had no idea. Who would think? She was new here.
The bowls were promptly in sight, but a drudge was pretty much upon them, cleaning the last of them. Rhysia held back, trying to keep some distance from a shelf covered with utensils next to her. It helped to be aware of her surroundings as much as possible. The drudge did not notice her as she lingered there, but another had and caught her by surprise with a hand on her shoulder.
"Oh, good. We were hoping for some help; we're completely under-handed," she was told.
Rhysia wanted to deny it, but she felt guilty for being here in the first place. She needed to get back to her room soon however with those items. Whatever task they'd give her would probably consume quite a bit of time. "I was just stopping by," she muttered in her defense, quite innocently. "But I really have to go."
"Nonsense." The drudge passed her an old scrubbing sponge and lead her to the bowls. "Yasaria, let this one take over. You're needed in the dining hall."
Rhysia wasn't new to cleaning dishes, but she held the sponge as if she had never seen anything like it. The drudge spied this and groaned.
"Tell me you know how to scrub dishes."
The Candidate quickly nodded. This wasn't all bad. She'd take the last bowl she cleaned and dried and that would be the end of that. Then all that would be left is the meat.
So the drudge left her, she and the other called Yasaria that she was replacing. Rhysia started cleaning at a quick pace and nearly dropped one of them in the process. After that she slowed some. She really had something to do...she really did. She couldn't just leave though; that would be quite irresponisble...Rhysia sighed as she scrubbed away, hoping that she wouldn't take the bag of cleansing sand or the old sponge when she was done.
