Name:
U’ar (formerly Umar, pronounced- Whar)
Gender:
Male
Age:
34 Turns
Sexuality:
Heterosexual
Location:
Dalibor Weyr
Rank:
Wingsecond (Dawn Wing)
Personality:
U’ar was always a fairly friendly, kind person. However, after the death of Mira seven turns ago, he withdrew socially for almost a whole turn. Only when he saw how it affected his daughter did he start to improve. Slowly, he opened up again. Now, he is much like his old self, friendly and helpful, though there is a watchful protectiveness around him at all times, especially so around Mu. He is always willing to work hard under good leadership or to lead others that seek him out for advice or whatever he or she needs. He can be either gentle and kind or stern, but he is never mean intentionally.
Appearance:
U’ar is very much a man. He stands at 6’ 2” and weighs around 170 pounds. Though not incredibly old, past events have gently wrinkled his tanned skin. These wrinkles, though, are in no way deep and seem to add to his fatherly distinction. His eyes, set off by dark circles underneath them, are a honey brown and show a watchful kindness in most situations. It’s possible, though, to see the sadness creep back into them whenever he becomes lost in thought. It is at these times when he looks the most old. Despite the wrinkles and dark circles, his light brown hair has remained untouched by age. It’s still a nice brown, cut in a short style with bangs barely brushing his forehead. His body, framed by broad shoulders, was once hard from work. Now, however, it had softened slightly. Age and grief had lessened his work load and he found his muscles turning soft, though he is not fat. In his clothing, he dresses typically of a rider. He always looks appropriate and comfortable without ever overdressing. He doesn’t see the need for excessive finery.
Family:
Father: M’tar of Blue Geonith (Deceased)
Mother: Ural of Green Mayth (NPC)
Daughter: Mu (12- do you need a profile for her?)
Pets:
Name: Mi
Type: Firelizard
Color: Pink C12267
Personality:
Sweet and cheery, this Pink will always seek to liven up a room. She delights in the company of others, and is generally to be found sitting on someone's head, shoulder, or lap, chirping happily at them and holding up one-sided conversations.
Unafraid of even the most unpleasant of personalities, she will often deliberately choose the grumpiest, angriest, or saddest person of the group to cuddle up to and "talk" with. Playing with their hair, licking at their ears, tickling their neck--she will try many tactics to make others happy.
She greatly appreciates pretty objects, often scavenger hunting for them, although her general goal is to give them to someone else so that they can share her joy at the pretty things.
Appearance:
An atypical pink, this girl is more wide and rounded than one would think her color ought to be, not that she really minds. She is a little thicker around the chest and hips than any average Pink, though she still has the characteristic narrowness to her limbs and neck, making her look just a little oddly built.
Still, it doesn't impede her. Her long wings are adept at moving her gracefully despite her added bulk, although she cannot twist and fold back on herself so agilely as others.
Her hide is also not so usual, a deep and rich color rather than the normal creamy shades. Frothy white-pink is dappled all along her back, neck, and tail, decorating her festively.
History:
Umar was born in the Lower Caverns at Ista Weyr to Blue Geonith’s rider, M’tar, and Green Mayth’s rider, Ural. As a weyrbrat, he never had much contact with his parents and was unaware of any half-brothers or sisters he had. As he grew, he was put through his studies with the rest of the Weyr children and excelled in many subjects. He was a happy child and got along well with the other children. He rarely misbehaved and the women of the Lower Cavern were always delighted with him. They, however, weren’t the only ones to notice the boy. The sensitive blues and browns around were certain he’d stand for Impression.
And, thus, his education slowly drifted over to the learnings of a Candidate. He first stood at the age of 14, but failed to Impress. He walked away from the Sands feeling dejected and heartbroken. A loneliness set in that worried many of those that he had known. He soon hid his disappointment through the hard work of a Candidate. He wasn’t going to let one failure stop him from trying again. He had another chance after he had turned 16. He awoke to the humming that morning and threw on his white robes. These robes, different from the first set, seemed to have a different aura about them after he put them on. He had a different aura it seemed. All the confidence he had as a boy of 14 was back as he walked onto the burning Sands that day.
He did not leave the Sands dejected that day. Instead, he left with a large, stumbling, shining, and beautiful (in his opinion) brown dragonet. U’ar, his new honorific, worked hard with his new partner Odyth and the two grew into quite a pair. U’ar forgot all of his past disappointments and troubles- Odyth held the present and the future for him and that was all that mattered. As U’ar grew into a handsome young man, Odyth grew into a handsome dragon, losing all awkwardness that he presented after hatching.
After reaching sexual maturity, Odyth showed off his healthy sexual prowess, participating in many flights. He caught few. As U’ar turned twenty and Odyth four, a new transfer caught both of their eyes. It was a lovely, playful green named Sireneth and her rider, Mira. It didn’t take long for the flirtatious green to rise and Odyth followed quickly after her. He fought his hardest, darting past other much more agile males and caught her. After that, U’ar and Mira were inseparable. Though many others chased Sireneth when she rose, she’d only allow Odyth to catch her. One and a half years later, Mira came shakingly, nervously up to U’ar with news.
She was pregnant. U’ar didn’t need to think long about what was to be done. It was quickly agreed that she should keep it. The baby was born, a beautiful baby girl, Mu. U’ar was instantly in love. He was constantly by Mira and Mu’s side, cooing and fawning over his two greatest loves, besides his dragon. Though Mu was raised as a weyrbrat in the Lower Caverns, U’ar went to see her as much as he could. He rejoiced when, even as a young toddler, she found a distinct interest in dragons, trying to play with the large Odyth and Sireneth. He often rejoiced to Mira that their daughter would surely Impress one day.
Though she was often excited, something was wrong. Mira slowly became weaker and weaker. Her weight dropped significantly and soon she was completely bedridden. Try as they might, the healers were not able to find a cure. They quarantined her for the last year she lived, only, hesitantly, allowing U’ar in to see her. She died in his arms shortly after Mu was five. A moment after, Sireneth betweened. U’ar and Odyth were heartbroken. They secluded themselves in their weyr for days, not seeing anyone. They hardly even ate. When they emerged, Mu was the first one U’ar saw. He hugged her tight and wouldn’t let go for several minutes. He didn’t say anything to her. In fact, he hardly said anything to anyone. He moped around for a long time, sluggish and withdrawn. Soon, Mu began to mirror her father, withdrawing herself from the rest of the children.
By the time U’ar noticed, the damage had been done. Mu remained a quiet withdrawn child. She began to smile more and become slightly friendlier. However, she never was the same happy playful child. Though he slowly returned to normal, memories still haunted him. He soon transferred to Benden Weyr, taking Mu with him. He grew more like his old self there but soon wanted a new change. He moved around as much as he could, constantly watching over his daughter. Finally, he reached Dalibor Weyr. It was here where he decided to face his demons. His grief had finally subsided, but he vowed to keep it from resurfacing.
Dragon Name:
Odyth
Dragon Age:
18 Turns
Dragon Color:
Brown
Dragon Length:
40 feet
Dragon Personality:
Odyth is a very typical brown. Even when he lost his beloved Sireneth, he remained calm and was the anchor for his Mine. Though the two were already close, they bonded more and became a stronger team. Though U’ar is very proud of him, Odyth is in no way proud or vain. He’s a generally friendly dragon, though slightly less so than before Sireneth betweened. Though amiable, he is not much a fan of fooling around and tends to keep a wary eye on younger dragons around him.
Dragon Appearance:
Odyth is a large, sturdy dragon, but is built proportionally. His coloring was once a deep brown, with a lovely copper or bronzey undertone. That metallicesque has now faded with age. His body is slightly scarred from flights, violent times, and Thread, but he doesn’t seem to mind it much.
Dragon History:
As soon as Odyth hatched and saw Umar, then U’ar, he knew that was his Mine. He wouldn’t look at any of the other Candidates and went straight for the lad. He and his Mine remained close as he grew. They worked hard through their lessons. Anytime they encountered trouble with a lesson, they got through it through hard work.
Though they had trouble, at first, with flying, the two eventually overcame it. Though Odyth was never the fastest flyer, he became very strong and made up with it with that.
At sexual maturity, he became interested in the many female dragons that seemed to get proddier ever day. He rose to chase many, but only caught a few. He never grew dejected though. It was all about the chase. It wasn’t until he rose after green Sireneth that it mattered to him. The slight attraction the two riders had for each other was enough to fuel him to catch her. From then on, he would allow no other male to be the one to tumble to the ground with her.
When her rider got sick, Sireneth withdrew, feeling weaker it seemed with her rider’s weakness. Odyth often was by her side, trying to keep her happy and strong. It was no use. As soon as Mira died, Sireneth went into the dark recesses of between. For a moment, Odyth wanted to follow her, never to return. But he soon calmed down and saw what he needed to do.
U’ar, his beloved Mine, needed him. He stayed close to his Mine, comforting him, trying to cheer him up. All to no avail. It was when he started noticing the little Mu’s changing attitude that he spoke slightly roughly with his mine, making him realize what he was doing wasn’t helping anyone else.
Though he grieved, Odyth stayed a constant support for U’ar. As they moved from Weyr to Weyr, they began, again, to participate in flights. At first, they were only in the flights half-heartedly, trying to recover themselves. As U’ar’s conditioned improved, so did Odyth’s standings in the flights. He eventually caught a young green. Though U’ar and the girl went back to his weyr, he didn’t feel the same connection he did with Mira. It was all just emotions and feelings lost in the passion of the falling dragons.
