We found out, now you're dead! It's time for you to step up, Your wimpy game, You'll slip up, cause we are ahead.
When it came down to it, the solving of the clue in its final form took Fajra no thought. She supposed she might have been able to get it before, but she had been busy. Kalith's eggs were about to hatch. The copper liked to keep her rider close except for when she was working on things important for the Weyr. It wasn't a time for playing games. However, finally, she tramped towards the lake. In the deep. That had been the emphasized part of the clue. While the wherhandlers offered an alternative, the deepest part of the Weyr lay withing the depths of the huge, blue body of water. She didn't see how she was going to get to the deepest part of the water. She was perfectly fine swimmer, but she wasn't capable of diving particular while. Born at Bay Weyr, she had learned how to swim at a young age, but what she knew didn't include diving. She wasn't a dolphineer. To start her search, she paced along the edge of the water. She abandoned her shoes at a discernible rock so the small waves of the lake could lap against her feet. She was right. The event should have been over long ago. Pratyba was probably laughing at her. Of course, Pratyba probably would be laughing no matter what. She frowned. The pinkrider was fairly idiotic, and very irksome, and very much in trouble. She peered closer at the water.
((I would like an orange firelizard egg for my prize!))
We're taking over easily, It's time to give up, We're here to destroy you, This is for the win!

Finally, the scavenger hunt had come to an end. Pratyba herself flew down to the Weyrbowl as soon as Fajra found the final slip of parchment tucked into the rocks of the lake where the water was about waist-high. Its message was simple:
CONGRATULATIONS!
You've won the scavenger hunt! Turn behind you to receive your prize!
And, true to the parchment's words, Pratyba and Oorth had landed soundlessly behind Fajra, Pratyba cupping something in her hands. "Congratulations, Weyrwoman!" she shouted enthusiastically, grabbing Fajra's hand and shaking it. "Honestly, I never thought you'd be the one to win this! Here's your prize!" Pratyba continued happily, holding out her hands to reveal a large firelizard egg. It was rocking ever so slightly, clearly about to hatch. "Take it quick!" she urged, "before it hatches! I don't want to go have to find another one! You know how hard it is to find the big ones? Faranth, I must have been attacked by five or six different Queens trying to steal their eggs!" Pratyba blathered on as if Fajra were her best friend.
She knew she was about to get told off, punished, whatever, and, for that reason, she'd insisted she would go alone, without Teslana or C'elin, though they were equally to blame for all of the chaos and thieving. The two Greenweyrlings had never been suspected for any of this, and Pratyba wanted to keep it that way. She knew she would probably get punished for it whether or not she handed herself in. She didn't care about being disciplined (in fact, she was kind of curious to see what Fajra was going to do to her!), but she wanted to keep C'elin's and Tesla's records clean.

Breaking rocks in the hot sun, I fought the law and the law won, I fought the law and the law won, I needed money 'cause I had none.
Fajra wasn't at all surprised to turn around and see Pratyba standing there with a firelizard egg. She accepted the prize gently without really looking at it. A deathly chill clung to her like a shroud. After her last encounter with the pinkrider, she wasn't giving an inch. The chattering words of the foolish girl fell on deaf ears as she only committed them to her mind so she could be sure that she wasn't mistaken about anything. She would make no mistakes. For a moment, she remained quiet. Her sharp blue eyes narrowed at Pratyba for a moment. She hadn't done it all alone. There had been at least one other. However, she wasn't in the mood to press it until further information was brought to light. Pratyba would suffice. The Weyrwoman had decided to favor long-term punishments, rather than doing something too extreme. Time always taught lessons well.
"Due to multiple counts of thievery, you subject yourself to Weyr law. Along with your duties as a wingrider, you will now be expected to act as a transport and are expressly in-charge of cleaning the female latrines in the quarter of the Weyr where your weyr is located for the next turn;" she decisively said, cold as ice in her voice and demeanor. Tucking the rocking egg into the crook of her arm, she turned and slowly slogged out of the lake without another word and a great determination. She didn't want the silly egg. She already had Afzal, who was off chattering away, recently smitten with a renegade green flitter. She felt no urge to raise another. What was she going to do with the hefty egg that she had won? Perhaps W'al would like it. Or who else? Perhaps anonymously, she could give it to someone else. She had to move quickly. She couldn't let it hatch first.
Robbin' people with a six gun, I fought the law and the law won, I fought the law and the law won, I miss my baby and I miss my fun.
