Name: Belor
Gender: male
Age: 17
Sexuality: Still figuring things out, but I'll go with bisexual.
Location: Dalibor Weyr
Rank: Dragon Candidate
Personality: Arrogant and conceited, Belor has a very lofty opinion of himself. He is only satisfied with the best of everything. He has a fiercely ambitious nature and he can get competitive. Whether or not he actually has leadership capability is yet to be discovered. More than rank, however, he covets the "prettiest" things, the proverbial shinies of life...the most expensive clothing, the most beautiful girl in the land on his arm, a fair of rare fire lizards following him everywhere. Truth be told, Belor is a dreamer and a bit too idealistic. He dislikes confronting the more banal side of life and tough situations make him uncomfortable.
Despite his feelings of superiority, Belor is not really a mean person. He won't purposely insult anyone, although he is dense enough to do so on accident from time to time. He doesn't have the heart for cruelty, but he isn't nice entirely out of kindness. Rather, he views being courteous towards others as a sort of "noblesse oblige." Most people will be able to sense his condescension. Belor may be polite, but he is by no means friendly. Most will find him reticent and introverted. He is loyal to his close friends, but has yet to find anyone he cares about more than himself. Belor is very picky about his selection of friends, but it's hard to tell what his qualifications are; perhaps similar background, good taste, or simply the ability to withstand his often irritating personality.
Having been a pampered Holdbrat his whole life, Belor has encountered lots of changes in the Weyr. He was horrified to find he would have to share a room. He instantly disliked his roommates simply for being there and he constantly gets on everyone's case for being messy in the barracks. (Belor is a bit of a neat freak.) Chores came as even more of a shock. He doesn't know how to do any of the assigned chores and he is too embarrassed to ask for help, so that usually ends in disaster. The liberal lifestyle of the Weyr has also offended his sensibilities. He was quite taken aback by the discovery of open homosexuality, and even women on blues and browns make him a touch uncomfortable. He really has no good reasons why these things are bad, and he will probably get over them eventually, but for now he has some culture shock to deal with.
The question of his own sexuality is up for debate. He has always seen love as something that ended in marriage, a duty and the first step to starting a family. In the Weyr, he is starting to realize that love can mean a lot of different things. Heck, forget love! The idea of the one night stand is a new concept to him, and he is in awe and disbelief at the result of a Flight.
Some will probably question why Belor was Searched, since he seems to have little signs of empathy. Maybe the Search dragon sensed his ambition, or maybe his stubbornness will make him able to deal with a dragon. Then again, maybe his father bribed the rider.
Appearance: Belor has a delicate and even, dare I say it, feminine appearance. His features are refined, with sculpted cheekbones, full lips, and an aquiline nose. His dark brown eyes are framed by long lashes that often provoke envy from womenfolk. He is medium height, about 5'10, with a slender build. He is not very strong, since he barely had to lift a finger in the Hold. His skin is pale and he has freckles across his face. Belor blushes easily and he has a terrible poker face, his emotions always showing clearly in his expression and body language. He prefers fine, elegant clothing, but he is quickly learning that such garb is unsuitable in the Weyr, where he has to do *gasp* chores.
Family:
Mother Bexala, Holder
Father Loredran, Holder
Older brother Xelan, JM Harper
Older sister Bera, Holder
Pets: None
History: Belor was born in Crom Hold, the son of wealthy, prominent Holdfolk. His family had been living in Crom for generations. He is the youngest child in his family and he was spoiled as a child. Because of his family's status, he never needed to pick a Craft, instead dallying around the Hold and being useless.
When Western Hold was founded, Belor's family moved there to become one of the founding families of the Hold. Belor didn't like the move, and complained constantly for the first turn. Eventually he mellowed out and got used to living in Western, and began to like it. Now he just needed something to do with his life. He was thinking of courting someone and settling down when a Searchdragon sniffed him out. He decided to go to the Weyr, imagining himself on a big, beautiful dragon, respected by all Pernese.
Dragon Preference: A new color would be nice, just so I can try playing something different from the usual five colors. I'm fine with him Impressing either gender dragon.
Oh, and feel free to maul him, of course. It would be fun if he got some horrible scar and was sad that he lost his prettiness.
