The runner tossed its gray mane, and wheeled around in the roomy enclosure that housed it, whickering softly at the far off bugle of a Dragon. The beast didn't seem frightened at all, and she gathered that maybe it had spent so much time around the creatures that the sound and smell of them no longer bothered it. Or maybe the Dragon's kept them calm, if they could do that. S'radva had said something about his Knipth speaking without speaking at all, maybe it was something similar. Her thoughts drifted idly as she observed the runner, so like her own Arcana. She'd had to leave him behind with the caravan, but her brother Derrot assured her that he'd be well taken care of. And maybe, he had soothed her, someday she could come back and visit with her Dragon. Rhea's honey colored eyes glistened slightly with tightly restrained tears, and set her jaw firmly. The girl turned on her heel and strode away from the beasthold without lingering a moment longer. Now wasn't the time to be homesick. For Faranth's sake she'd only been here a day.
By removing herself from the sound and smell of horses, those sentimental reminders of home, she easily found herself more clearheaded. She paused in her steps, her eyes hawkishly scanning the Weyrgrounds around her. She cut an imposing, manly figure on this slightly misty spring morning. Clad in a thick knee-length coat, and breeches tucked into her well used looking work-boots one might well mistake her for a man at a distance. Hands adorned with patchy work worn gloves clenched at her sides, and the goggles pushed up high on her forehead caught a harsh gleam of sunlight. Her face was largely blank save for the stern set or her jaw, and the faint downward twitch of her lips. But despite all her posturing, she still looked as lost as she felt.
It was an unsettling feeling and she didn't like it. Her entire life before this had been filled with work, chores, and more work. There was rarely a spare moment where she was left with nothing really to do, and those were usually celebratory occasions such as gathers and weddings. Everything had changed now. She had gotten up at the crack of dawn with no horses to feed or water, and no large family to start breakfast for. What did these Weyrfolk expect her to do really? Just... wait for a Dragon? She snorted, and stalked across the grass, headed where she had no idea, but at least headed somewhere, and doing something.
Maybe if she looked hard enough she'd find something to occupy her.

She'd been roused from sleep by a particularly troubling dream - while on dragonback, they had winked between, and suddenly the dragonrider had pushed her off, leaving her in the harsh chill to fall for eternity. It was rather ludricous, but it had been plaguing her for a few nights now. Dihon had found it hard to go back to sleep, and with nothing else to do down where she resided, she decided she might as well enjoy the rarity of being awake when the sun was up and venture outside. Today was a nice day, and ever since she'd adapted her schedule to that of a Wher, she hardly managed to get out during the day anymore. Doing something away from the constant presence of candidates, handlers, and Whers alike would surely be a bit of a relief anyway. The girl had wandered far from her room indeed - for soon, her feet were walking on the grasses that led to the Weyr Lake. She hadn't been here since she was a dragon candidate.
Snorting, Dihon narrowed her gaze. It had been some time since she'd even thought of the title she previously bore, and frankly, she didn't miss it. After that flight to Dalibor, she'd been a bit skeptical of dragons, and the thought of possibly Impressing a creature that possessed an ability she feared was downright stupid. So after opting into Wher candidacy, she made no attempt to rise from the darkness of night to go out and wander the Weyr grounds, especially back to this place. But right now she was bored, and the mist that hung over the land dulled out the sunlight enough where it wouldn't blind her sensitive eyes. Shrugging, she tossed the subject away from her mind and began to approach the lake, her features showing hints of suspicion. Hopefully there weren't too many riders or weyrfolk in general around...
The candidate hadn't walked more than twenty feet when a tall, sturdy figure entered her field of vision. Stopping, Dihon turned her head to view the person in more detail. Dull shadows fell across their face, and from afar, she wasn't sure if the human was a guy or a girl. The long jacket didn't help at all, and all she could see of their face was that... well, she couldn't really see much at all in that area. Just a tall, dark moving person. Dihon was curious, but hesitated in approaching. It wasn't really in her nature, but the girl was bored out of her mind. After another moment's thought, her legs started moving again, arms folding across her chest as she closed the space between herself and the cloaked person. She made herself appear as unsociable and unresponsive as possible as she progressed: all she wanted to do was see what gender this person was, not start a conversation.

Wandering was starting to get boring. Kio had already seen everything there was to see about this sharding Weyr and he was... bored. He was bored with it already! The thought bothered him. He had very important plans that he needed to set into motion for his own amusement, he couldn't grow bored with it this early! He'd pulled an all-nighter simply walking around, as from his experience lately, it was far more fun at night around this place. The... interesting people came out at night. Plus, he was a wher Candidate, so he would have to get used to this kind of schedule eventually. Not that Kio even needed sleep anymore. He was wide awake.
The smell of horses was what alerted him to where he was, and made him think that perhaps he wasn't nearly as awake as he'd thought. Runners? Really? He wasn't at all interested in them. Smelly animals that didn't do anything but provide food for dull dragons. There were people over there, though, so perhaps he'd made a right choice by chosing to come this way. He shrugged his fur-trimmed jacket closer around himself and walked briskly towards the two people. A girl and... a boy? No, girl. No... boy. No... aha! Someone interesting! An androgenous, mystery person! Now he had to go inspect them.
But rather than making a straight line towards Rhea, the black-haired boy instead moved towards Dihon. She was... stalking, this boy/girl? How fun! A stalker! Kio could barely believe his good luck. He almost hoped that this boy/girl was a girl just to make the other girl feel extremely awkward. Though... if she was already homosexual he supposed it wouldn't actually be all that awkward. She sure looked unsocial, though. Socially awkward, perhaps? Well, Kio was quite the opposite of shy and socially awkward, so he almost skipped over to Dihon, the lack of sleep making him a bit more... bouncy than he usually was.
It didn't make him any nicer though, as he immediately began to push Dihon's back towards Rhea. "Are you a stalker?" he asked as he continued to push her in the same direction she'd been going, "It'd be a lot easier if you just waved your hand and got their attention, you know," he continued to talk, and stopped pushing Dihon as they got close enough to Rhea to have an actual conversation. He moved around to the other side, careful to avoid the horse, in an attempt to get a look at the mystery person's face. A girl! He was right! He really was a genius, wasn't he? "Hello~," he greeted the androgenous girl in a rather sing-songy tone, "I believe this girl here was trying to stalk you. No, no, no need to thank me," he waved his arms in a dismissive gesture, though his the expression on his face was filled with arrogance, "I'll just let you two get acquainted with each other," he spun around dramatically, though didn't stay that way for long, peeking over his shoulder to watch the two girls. Rhea for all her determination and common sense, was not very observant at times. This was one of those times, and perhaps the mist helped a bit. She was all eyes and ears for her deliberate course across the grounds, heading toward some part of the Weyr the was undecided and unfamiliar to her. There was no sense lingering around her room in the Barracks after all. If this was going to be hew new home then she was going to get to know it, know it like the back of her hand even. Because of this sour determination, she completely failed to notice the light footsteps in the grass approaching her, or the shadow of a figure that was Dihon circling her. She might have kept on not noticing were it not for the sing song voice of Kio rising to meet her ears, and giving pause to her stride.
There was someone out there behind her, sneaking around. She turned around abruptly with a look that was half dare and another part curiosity. The girl had not had much contact with the people of this Weyr yet, other than the Green-rider who had seen her comfortably to her sleeping quarters. She wasn't really interested in meeting lots of new people, but she did have to wonder what sort of people they were to live so easily around Dragons. She raised her eyebrows as Kio pushed a somewhat unwilling looking Dihon in her direction, and she blinked her honey colored eyes at what he said. This girl was trying to what? Stalk her? She eyed Kio strangely as he turned to give them their privacy, and then after a moment fixed Dihon with a curious and expectant look.
Was there anything this girl could possibly want her for? Maybe she was supposed to report her arrival to someone, and the Green-rider had simply let that slip? That would at least give her the important task she had been seeking. Or better yet maybe there was some sort of work detail or training for Candidates? She shifted her wait from one foot to the other as she waited, and crossed her arms over her chest. Though she didn't speak her manner seemed to be somewhat impatiently awaiting an answer to an unasked question.
