He'd known this moment was coming for a long time now. Vediameth had been acting strange lately, and even more recently her hide had been look rather... well, different. R'ori couldn't put a word do it... which had rather annoyed the Green, something R'ori never thought he'd see. Vediameth couldn't get annoyed! She was always so happy! She had appologized a few minutes later, though. Pff, girls. Such a hastle. R'ori watched the lightly colored Green as she slept peacefully away. Phareon and Asmo were absent, as they had been lately. Not that R'ori cared, as Phareon was usually absent... and Asmo was annoying. They'd come back when Vediameth's temper cooled... He sighed. It was pretty cold out... one of the colder days of winter. R'ori flopped over to the side on his bed and pulled the furs around himself. Cold, cold, cold....
R'ori glared at the wall in front of him for a little while, thinking. Vediameth was going to rise soon. He couldn't really stop it, could he? Of course not. His thoughts began to wander... what if F'let ended up not winning? Or Doppelith even chasing? He glanced quickly at Vediameth and gave a small sigh of relief... she wasn't paying attention to him. Good, because in the mood she'd been lately she probably would have killed him for that kind of thought. His thoughts began to wander some more and he went through the same process. The prospect of his Vediameth flying shouldn't have made him as nervous as it did... he'd already... you know... right? So it didn't matter anymore.
Suddenly, Vediameth lifted herself up, her eyes whirling with the tell-tale purple of lust. R'ori sat up quickly, falling off his bed in his attempt to go to her. Her thoughts were whirling violently and R'ori couldn't keep up. With a very, very slight glance towards R'ori, the Green lifted herself up completely and swooped down to the herds of herdbeast and wherries. She killed one with a swift movement and gave a roar or triumph. R'ori managed to untangle himself from his bed with enough time to lean out his weyr and shout, "BLOOD IT!" as loudly as he could. He screamed it again for good measure, feeling the Green's resistance in his mind. But R'ori was firm. He didn't let her eat it, as much as he knew she wanted to. His thoughts were free of jokes or fear and he was only focused on keeping Vediameth in line. She gave a roar of defiance, but drank the blood without going near the meat. R'ori didn't relax.
He glanced at the door to his weyr, faintly wondering just how many people would chase for her... before he quickly turned to look back at his dragon. She was so... so beautiful. Any other time and R'ori would have slapped himself for using such a word, but it was the only thing he could think of right now. She was amazing... and she was his... and soon, she'd be someone else's. The dragons would chase her, he was sure of it. And that thought almost scared him... if he hadn't been so sure and confident of Vediameth's beauty and power, that is. He could feel his own mind beginning to merge with hers. It was an odd feeling that R'ori didn't have much time to think about.
They screamed a challenge to everyone in the Weyr, daring all of them to come chase... them. The both of them. This was as much R'ori as it was Vediameth, the two of their minds molding so they became one with each other. It was cold, but there was no wind. It was a perfect, crisp winter day for flying. She lept into the air gracefully, yelling out her challenge again, daring them all to come after her. She wasn't a Queen, but in her own mind, she might as well have been. This was her day and her time to shine... almost literally. She was young, beautiful and fast. Without bothering to wait for the dragons she knew were going to come, Vediameth shot straight up into the sky.
R'ori wasn't nervous anymore. How could he be when he was one with his dragon? Vediameth's confidence overshadowed any doubts he was feeling. They were flying together... and whatever the outcome was, they would stay together.

It was a rare morning indeed to find F'let slumbering silently in his own bed. But today was a rare morning as it was, so perhaps it wasn't so strange to see that the long-haired man was happily snuggled in his own furs, dreaming of another man's furs and how much he'd like to be there. Unfortunately, he wasn't exactly allowed to sleep pressed firmly against R'ori every night.
The strange Greenrider had this thing called "space". F'let hadn't the foggiest what it was, but shards! It was annoying.
Thankfully for the Purplerider, however, today would be a day that "space" would be destroyed again.
Mine! Mineminemineminemine! Miiine! F'letMine you have to, ya know, get up! NOW! The hyperactive chattering of the Purple turned suddenly violent as jaws sank into the bed, yanking it clear off the floor with one powerful motion. F'let was sent flying, yelping in shock as he awoke to find himself soaring through the air, years of performance the only thing that got his feet beneath him and his landing clean. Hair braided and still managing to stick up in cat-like terror, the dark-skinned blackette attempted to dig his nails into the ground, swallowing thickly when the attempt failed.
You're awake! Good! Cheerfully--and innocently--the dragon dropped the bed, ignoring the sound of breaking wood as he scrambled closer to F'let, pressed flat on the ground like a hyper dog as he waggle his hind end, his eyes whirling an insane shade of blue streaked with faint violet. Vediameth is Flying, Mine! She's Flying! Oh she's so beautiful, F'letMine! And so, ya know, amazing! Oh can I go, I gotta go, you gotta go! Wriggling and bouncing and bobbing his head, F'let found himself completely distracted and confused by Doppelith's insane reaction to whatever was going on, and would have continued to be that way had a strange feeling not crawled hungrily up his spine.
With a soft gasp, his eyes flashing, he recognized the starved emotion immediately, labeling it as being very akin to lust indeed. He licked his lips and simply nodded, his bottom lip already locked between his teeth. Doppelith needed no other urging as he scrambled to his feet and clumsily wheeled around, knocking over two tables an a shelf with a mixture of feet and tail as he bolted out of the weyr and into the air.
The moment his wingtips touched sky, however, he was all grace. Proudly, with great agility and flexibility, he snaked his way after Vediameth, chasing in her shadow with a laugh-like bugle. I'm here, Vediameth! I'm here, here here for, ya know, you! Always for you! He laughed as he spoke, his eyes shining happily as he shot after the beautiful green. Win or lose, he really didn't care. All that mattered was Vediameth, his gorgeous friend and partner. All that mattered was her!
But while Doppelith was quite secure in his decision to fly and to chase and to croon!, F'let was a bit slower. More startled than he could imagine this day would make him, he rose from the ground reluctantly, feeling his heart catch in his throat. The lust was strong, almost overwhelming, but the terror was greater. What if Vediameth didn't pick Doppelith? Panic wheeled in the dancer's chest, reflecting in his eyes. He couldn't watch R'ori with another man, he couldn't! His jaw stiffened, and his fingers trembled as he undid the braid, untangling the smooth strands as though desperate for a distraction.
Only when he'd checked three times to make sure there were no tangles did he put it up again, pulling the long locks into a ponytail and wrapping it quickly. He swallowed, shrugging into something other than a pair of pants, and began to trek to R'ori's weyr.
The walk was faster than he expected, but he lurked outside the door, unwilling to go any further for the time being. Out in the hallway, away from the man he loved, he trembled, wondering uncontrollably what this day would bring. Would he have to see R'ori with another man..? What if he did win? What would R'ori say? Wouldn't it change the whole relationshp? Would he lo--the blackette flinched as though he were smacked, and opened his eyes wide at the feel. But Doppelith's attention was already gone, back to that gorgeous green in the sky, and F'let swallowed, cracking a soft smile. Of course...it didn't matter. All that mattered...was R'ori.
He took a deep breath, settling himself, and let his usual smile slide into place. Eyes glimmering with his normal glee, the blackette barged into the room, sashaying to where he knew R'ori would be. But unlike usual, he didn't tackle his beauty, merely standing, his hips swaying with impatient hunger. He would wait. He would let Doppelith Fly...but no matter what happened...his eyes glimmered brightly, he would be here for his beloved Greenrider.

It would be a lie to say that R'ori wasn't nervous, especially when a few people came to his Weyr. Not a lot, just a few, as Vediameth wasn't really... well, all that popular. Neither was R'ori, he kind of kept to himself lately. But that was fine. He didn't care about those other people. It would also be a lie to say that R'ori wasn't insanely relieved when F'let showed up. He ran a hand through his short black hair out of nerves, smiling weakly at F'let. But that was the last thing he saw before he completely merged with Vediameth, becoming one.
Vediameth was flying leisurely, not pushing herself or her suitors yet. She noticed Doppelith, but didn't respond to his croons. Not yet, at least. She did love him, she loved him with all her heart, and honestly her choice was easy to make. But she still wanted to test him like a female dragon should, despite her predispositions and easygoing attitude. She spun in a whimsical spiral, her lazy flying style becoming more and more involved as she flew higher and higher. She didn't know where she wanted to go, and she didn't really care either. She could feel R'ori's consciousness swimming with hers, so it didn't matter where they went.
So she focused on going as far as she possibly could and flying for as long as her wings would take her.
She kept a careful eye on Doppelith, though almost teased him with the way she kept flitting just out of his grasp. A few of the other suitors had given up already, not that Vediameth cared. Her path was essentially a straight line, though occassionally she would dip and dive, thoroughly enjoying the freedom of her flight. She really did love flying, and she matched the skies so well, her pale hide blending with the pale grays of the sky. The only thing that stood out to her was Doppelith and his dark, deep Purple coloring. The others didn't matter.
Her flight went longer than a Green's should go, and she began to tire. But Vediameth didn't want to give up her beautiful freedom, even if it was to the one she loved. She pushed herself as far as she could go... and then knew it was time. Her decision was already made, and it had been made... well, far before her Flight. It was pre-determined, and no one would be surprised by the outcome. But that didn't really matter to Vediameth right now, and the carefree Green immediately twined herself with the Purple, not giving him a choice in the matter even if he'd wanted one. The other suitors were all gone and they were far, far from Dalibor. No one else was around but them. She finally let her wings drop, trusting herself to the Purple that was now hers.
R'ori felt his mind slowly come back into his own body, and the lust that came along with it. His weyr was now empty... save F'let. He smiled genuinely, and grabbed the other boy, pulling them both down together. "I love you," he said without shame. He'd come a long way from the homophobic boy he'd been, and it was all thanks to F'let. They'd stuck together for years now, and they certainly weren't going to change now. He'd outgrown his shame... well, at least for now.
