"True, true," X'ni murmured, lips still tight in a smile. "It'd definitely be no fun... Since you wouldn't be here, hmmmm?" Faranth, that would be awful. No more F'lan. He'd gone and spent Turns without him, perfectly fine minus the occasional longing and fantasizing dreams, but now that he was here... Physically here, right next to him, warm, him leaving was not a nice thought. He'd been bashed over the head with that realization ever since he ran into F'lan last night. Bashed repeatedly. He felt it now. He felt it strongly.
Something else hit him, too. He'd always remembered F'lan mainly as his bad-boy, crazy self. Sexy, twisted, everything X'ni could ever want in someone. But he had been missing something. F'lan also had the capacity to be gentle and caring. It was somewhat of a foreign notion to the greenrider. It was definitely there, though, and this became glaringly obvious as he inspected his wounded lip. X'ni let him. He caught that hint of a smile, too, and then there he went - brooding. Beautiful, dark, and at his words, X'ni smiled wide.
"Yes, sunshine, sweet," he purred. "Yes, I'm fine. A little banged up, pretty-" and he shifted, groaned, "-sharding sore but, that's to be expected. Nothing I can't handle." He laughed, unintentionally sharp, for only a split moment. But he quieted down. "Yes, darling. Darling, gorgeous, my pretty little Faolan. I'm alright." He leaned in for a quick kiss. [/blockquote]

I am holding out for love, Is it worth it, To die a little each day, All for unseen grace.
X'ni's over the top assurances didn't do much to sooth F'lan. He hated when the greenrider used all of those names. He hated when he talked all flowery. Concern warred with the genius idea of punching his lover in the face. It was always like that, in his head. It always told him so many things, especially when it came to X'ni, and all of the ideas rarely worked together. His expression stayed dark and brooding, which made an excellent cross between anger and concern.
Then the other man leaned him and kissed him. Everything became much more clear. He refused to let the kiss be quick and pressed in, deepening the display of affection. After a moment, he drew away, remembering himself. He didn't really want to hurt Xal at all. Usually. He had plenty of murderous thoughts, but only a couple of them got translated into any physical violence. More playfully and mockingly than anything else, he punched the greenrider lightly in the shoulder.
Being called pretty or beautiful wasn't quite so bad when his lover did it. Not quite so bad, even if the other man only did it half the time because he knew that it bugged him or because he was being stupid. "I really don't think you needed to answer that question in quite that many words;" he commented, like a grumpy feline who had been petted the wrong way. It was mainly for show, and, slowly, a grin split across his face. He blew one curl of his black hair out of his face.
Sticks and stones, May break my bones, Your words, they surely kill, They surely kill.

It was a pleasant, sweet surprise when F'lan held the kiss longer than it had originally intended to be held. As F'lan drew back, he smiled immediately, and licked his cracked lips again. The playful punch - well, that was a surprise, too. He considered laughing, but... no. Not yet. Instead, his smile dropped and he whined, "Oooowwwww..." It was obviously fake, though. No way had it hurt. He smiled again, though, and chuckled a little.
"Oh, I didn't?" he said, eyes running lazily over the entirety of the grumpy F'lan. "Sorry, then. Just 'I'm perfectly fine' would have done? I'll keep that in mind for next time." Oh! He loved it when F'lan was grumpy. He found something very amusing in pushing his buttons, which is why he threw in petnames as often as he could. He did it in normal speech, too, to anyone really, but he didn't make an effort not to when he was around F'lan. F'lan probably secretly loved it. He just wouldn't show it.
There was his love's gorgeous smile, though. X'ni smiled right back at him, and then sat up fully and stretched. His back arched like a cat's, and he yawned, morning stretch as fluid and oddly graceful as all his other movements. He peered out towards the mouth of the cave. Was that Enlith he could see? Maybe. Or maybe it was Seceth. Maybe it was neither of them... just a rock. He still couldn't feel Enlith very strong. Well, good on her for sleeping long for once. Groaning a little at his soreness, he stood up and dragged on his pants. [/blockquote]

Over here, see the lights, Arranging twilight sages, Commence to reveal it to the others, You would never have the time.
F'lan watched, largely ignoring the true content of the reply he was given, as the greenrider stretched. He had an appreciative eye for the arch of the other man's spine. Nothing about the handsomely beautiful freak would ever grow tiresome for him. For a moment, he let his pretty sadist look around. Then he straightened up himself, wiggling his toes and stretching out his legs. The morning was cold, but the furs and X'ni were warm. He lunged forward in a pathetic, halfhearted fashion. His arms wrapped around the other rider's middle in a firm but gentle hold.
Snuggling, he drew X'ni to him, grinning into the handsome boy's shoulder as he enjoyed the closeness. He flopped back, using his weight to try to drag the greenrider with him. He gave the shoulder a kiss as he went. "So, what are we going to do today?" He drawled the words, keeping himself somewhere between artfully boring and vaguely suggestive. At some point, they needed food, but he felt disinclined to move. Asking his warped lover seemed like a great idea.
Seceth was awake, perched on the malformed ledge of the cave. He listened to them, and knew exactly what was happening, but he didn't interfere. There wasn't anything with which he wanted to interfere. He knew his rider and X'ni were being their ridiculous selves together. He knew that Enlith was sleeping and that was for the best. Leaving all the others in peace, he stared at the sky. It was going to be a good day. Then he felt the faintest brush of his rider in his mind. He knew. Of course, he did. Smart F'lanMine. His rider ignored him after that. He was much too busy staring broodily at X'ni. The blue let out one soft rumble of laughter.
Yeah, take my hand and come with me, Into this crystal village, And see the lights so fried in brightness, Cause you will never have the time.

He smiled as F'lan's arms came around him, looking over his shoulder at those dark eyes and dark curls. Then he laughed, clear and crystal and loud and, for once, sounding simply normal and happy, as F'lan dragged him back down. He twisted his bare feet, sticking out of the ends of his tight trousers, in the furs. What were they going to do today? He contemplated the question. Really, he had no idea. Usually... Usually his days would consist of a little stealing to stay alive physically and a little fun to stay alive mentally. He didn't need to steal now, though, and he didn't need to torment anyone for fun. Ha! It was like living the good life now! He snuggled up against F'lan.
"Ohhh, I don't know," he purred. "What are we going to do today?" He put his delicate hands over F'lan's, which were around his middle. "Presumably, a large amount of nothing, hmm?" And he was fine with that. Being lazy was a treat all its own. Being lazy with F'lan? Even better. Though, 'lazy with F'lan' might entail things that weren't as readily classified as lazy, but again, he didn't mind. Today, like yesterday, would probably be a very nice day indeed.
Gently, he began to hum a little to himself, like he was wont to do. It was a lilting tune, probably with words once but now forgotten by him. It seemed fairly cheerful.

Forget what we're told, Before we get too old, Show me a garden, That's bursting into life.
F'lan shifted his fingers a fraction of an inch under the touch of X'ni's hand as his skin tingled in a pleasant, wonderful manner. The idea of doing nothing, whatever nothing would end up being between them, was tantalizing. They could not even eat, not until way later. Both of them probably could use the calories, slender darlings that they were, but food drifted far from the bluerider's mind. He was happy to just to lie there with his lover. He could have simply laid there forever.
Through his ears and the mush that his brain was becoming, he listened to the quiet, lilting hum that X'ni produced, tilting his head slightly with the variations of the pitch. He simply sat there, listening, failing to respond to the hopefully mostly rhetorical questions that the greenrider had asked him, holding the handsome devil close to him. Then he sharply awoke from his stupor of stupid happiness and he straightened up. He didn't let the other man go but he loosened his hold.
"We need to eat." The 'we' was emphasized to mean that he mainly meant that X'ni needed to eat. Like a very surly mother, he took it upon himself to care for the lovely man wrapped up in his arms now that he was back. "What do you want? I don't know if it ever came up before." Before. They'd had a before. He didn't think much of it as he spoke. They were falling back into an old routine that was hardly a routine. "But I can cook." He said it with a shrug, releasing X'ni.
If I lay here, If I just lay here, Would you lie with me, And just forget the world?

He didn't know what there was. If he were to think of what he really wanted, the renegades probably didn't have it. Still, food was food, and food was necessary. As much as he liked to think he wasn't human, there were enough things still making him human that he just had to accept it sometimes. Yes, he needed food. Yes, he was susceptible to human emotion. There wasn't any getting around it, unfortunately.
"Do we, now?" he purred, still quite comfortable with F'lan behind him. "You can, can you? Good, because I probably can't." He chuckled. Not well enough, at least. He put a few stray thoughts to what he wanted, and settled with, "Hmmm... I don't know what I want. Surprise me."
Outside, Enlith stirred. Slowly blinking her eyes open, she heaved a dragon's yawn, rustling her wings. She was a little stiff from sleeping. Oh well, it would wear off. She peered into the cave, picking out her Mine and Seceth's Mine in the dark. She rumbled quietly. Good morning, Mine.
Good morning, Enlith, honey, X'ni smiled. Released from F'lan's grasp, he stood up again, stretching out. [/blockquote]

I know everything about you, I know what you say and do, But I still love you, I know everything about you.
"Well, that's good, because we only have the ingredients to make a couple of things;" F'lan muttered in response to X'ni's comments about what he wanted. Despite the disgruntle way he sounded, he wore a smile as he stood and turned away from the greenrider. He stared digging through supplies, but then he turned his head and peered back at the other boy. He watched for a moment as X'ni stretched, smiling a softer grin to himself. After he finished one of many moments of appreciating the wonders of his twisted life, he pulled a flint and steel out of a box. Dumping a couple of logs he had set to the side in a circle of stones, he stared at the fire starting materials in his hands for a moment and then he turned. "Wanna help me?" He held up the flint and steel in explanation.
Seceth pulled his attention away from the two riders as Enlith stirred. Time to start fixing things up after his aid of the previous night's events. Good morning Enlith! You look very pretty in this early light. His tone was carefully calculated to what was his normal level of cheer. His words were thoroughly selected. Despite the effort he put into complimenting the green in a manner so she would accept it and simply preen, he found the task lacked any challenge. Enlith was usually easy.
I know everything about you, I know what you're thinking through, But I still love you everything you say, You do, you are, you want, you think.

X'ni adopted a lopsided smile. "Do you really think me and fire is a good idea?" he chuckled. Well, to be perfectly honest, as long as it wasn't Enlith breathing it, it was more of a very boring idea. Starting fires became natural after being up north so long, with the snow and the ice and the cold winds. It was just a routine thing by now. Snatching a handful of wind-blown dried grasses from the floor of the cave, he nested that in the logs and took the flint and steel from F'lan. One quick stroke, and a spark lit the tinder. Smoke trailed up from it.
Back to humming to himself, he quickly kissed F'lan's cheek before standing straight again. He was contemplating putting his shirt back on. And his boots. Eh... Too much effort for something so unnecessary.
Back at the mouth of the cave, Enlith snorted, raising her head and closing her eyes in a moody manner. So, Seceth thought he could sweet-talk her into a good mood? Well, it had been a good morning until the stupid blue decided to talk. Him and his planning and his taking-Hers-away-from-her-when-he-should-be-riding-her. Plus, who was he to say how lovely she was? They were clutchsiblings, for Faranth's sake! That was wrong! On any other occasion, she wouldn't have cared at all that they shared the same sire and dam, but she was just looking for things to hold against him right now. Sourly, she replied, I should hope I do. [/size]

All through the changes, The soul never dies, We fight, we laugh, we cry, As the years go by.
Watching, not speaking for a time, as X'ni begrudgingly started the fire, F'lan continued to wear a smile mixed with his utterly natural broody expression. He received his kiss, which part of him had seen coming and part of him hadn't, and went back to working on the food, with those parts having a war over what a proper reaction to such a simple kiss should be for him. He ignored the arguing parts of his brain and went along for a short time in a mostly brainless existence. Surprisingly, he found it very easy to exist in that state, floating along happily.
"Fire and you is reasonably safe;" F'lan explained to the greenrider as he worked, pulling out things and starting to set them near the fire to warm. "I know from personal experience that you and knives are much worse;" he said. He spoke with fondness, despite the gruesome, emotionally draining memories that his words made him recall. "Unless you've change since I last saw;" he added. At that, he stopped his diligent working and looked up to stare fixedly at X'ni. His expression intensified. He could handle not understanding his little sadist, but he couldn't handle not knowing those turns where they'd been apart.
Seceth shifted as Enlith snapped back at him. He shrank under her apparent though, of course, refined fury. He hadn't done anything that bad! Why was she no mad? He knew. He had his guesses, but the simpleness that was truly inside of his mind brought forth the innocent wonderment. He paused, fumbling for what to say. The proper thing to say. He had things to say, but it had to be the right thing, said the right way. You always look pretty, of course; he told her in a quiet, sad voice. His swirling eyes looked away and then slowly fixed on her.
They thought they had us down, We came around then, How we rolled and rambled, We got lost and we got found.

At the mention of it, his eyes flicked to the knife, still laying beside the mound of bedfurs. No, he hadn't changed. Not that much, at least. He had just been deprived of F'lan over the Turns, is all, and as a result, all he wanted to do was be nice. A little rough, sure, but overall... nice. He didn't want to hurt him. More specifically, he didn't want to scare him away again, if that was even possible. But X'ni and knives was still a bad idea, if you weren't F'lan and seemed to be a lot of fun. It was a hard habit to kick, and he didn't even want to kick it.
"Don't worry, honey," X'ni smiled sweetly. "I'm still mostly the same old me. Why would I want to be anything else? It's far too much fun," He bent over, gently caressing F'lan's cheek and neck from behind with the back of his hand, "Being me."
Enlith snorted again. Yes, I do, she said simply, and that was as much of an answer as she graced Seceth with. He was being a suck-up! She hated suck-ups. Well, she hated most people, but suck-ups in particular, and Seceth in particular (at the moment.) Best of friends, her emerald-shining ass! Since when? Since sometime that wasn't right now, that was. She still had her eyes closed, still exuded moodiness, and definitely wasn't a morning dragon today. [/blockquote]

Before I fall, Too fast, Kiss me quick, But make it last.
F'lan was pleased by X'ni's response. Except for the caressing bit. He had to grit his teeth and focus very, very hard to shake the strong urge to just turn around and jump the greenrider's bones. That was just what the twisted devil wanted. He took a deep breath, trying to make it sound like an melodramatic sigh, like he had some plan. He really didn't. Cook food. Feed X'ni and himself. That was his plan. After he had himself and his thoughts under control, he bustled about with his work, mixing up some type of food and setting it over the little fire to cook.
Seceth paused, assessing Enlith's latest snappy response. Coaxing himself back into her good graces was going to take a different strategy. He wasn't going to give up yet. She knew him too well for some of his usual half ploys. However, he knew her well too. Energy unfolded inside of him and he leaped forward. Off into the air, he danced, flicking his wings as quick as he could to dart about the sky. I betcha can't catch me; he taunted her, voice light and playful, as if he had entirely forgotten everything else. He zipped in towards her and then pranced back away.
For the most part, F'lan ignored Seceth. It was what he generally did. It was easier. After a short while, he turned around with two dented metal plates in his hands. Both of them were loaded with what he had made. He passed one to X'ni. The food item on each of the plates somewhat resembled an omelet, misshapen as they were from being simply cooked over a fire, except for the fact none of the components, aside from the meat, quite matched up in color to the normal Terran varieties of vegetables and ingredients. After making sure that X'ni had his, he sat down and proceeded to less than daintily start devouring his. He ate fast.
So I can see, How badly this will hurt me, When you say goodbye, Keep it sweet.

He could tell F'lan was trying very hard not to get distracted by him. He pressed a kiss to the top of F'lan's head, though, and left him alone to cook. He was itching to turn around again and distract him so much he wouldn't be able to ignore it, but that would be rather cruel, wouldn't it? F'lan would probably get annoyed, first, before giving in, and then get annoyed afterwards because he was supposed to be cooking. Amusing as it would be, he held off, pacing a little further out of the cave to see Enlith more clearly. He didn't see her for long, though, before she lept of the edge.
Now he was trying to show off?! Make himself seem better? Pah! She was the faster of the two! She was smaller, not huge and bulky like he was. (How unattractive!) Don't think you can outfly me, Seceth! she snapped, leaping from the rocky lip to twist through the air after him. She'd show him, she was faster. There was no question about it. She could catch him no problem. Fangs bared, the green flew as fast and as agile as she could.
X'ni chuckled. Enlith, dear, play nice, he warned gently. Food was ready, though, and he took his plate from F'lan. He ate fast, too, but compared to F'lan's method he was like a well-trained ladyholder. He didn't really put much into tasting the food. In all honesty, he didn't feel like eating, but he knew he had to to keep his stupid mortal body from quitting out on him. Soon enough, it was gone, and he ran his tongue through his mouth. At least the taste of morning breath was mostly gone. He set the plate down on the floor and flopped back down onto the bedfurs, stretching out and yawning.

It's that sort of thing, That makes you think too much, It's that sort of thing, Makes you lose your objectivity.
Seceth wasn't afraid of Enlith. She was smaller. It was stupid of her to try to play tough. If she wanted to get into a snapping contest, he could snap her neck. However, that wasn't his intention. As soon as she was after him, he was gone. With huge, powerful wing strokes, he surged across the sky, going for speed and distance rather than agility once she was chasing. Why would you think that was what I wanted? I don't have to out fly you to win; he sang back to her. He had plans, and on he flew. She would gain on him eventually, but he had time until she did.
F'lan finished his food before X'ni, but he just sat where he was after he was done and waited, watching him. He set the plate aside without a care. In a civilized environment, he could be a busybody when it came to cleaning. However, in a cave, in the middle of nowhere, with his insane boyfriend? He didn't care so much.
When the other rider was done with his food, F'lan stood up. Then he tackled X'ni where he had stretched out on the furs. He didn't do it particularly nicely either. He simply rammed right into the greenrider and settled on top of him. All interest in not being distracted by the beautiful creature in front of him was thrown to the wind. He wore the biggest, cheekiest smile he could find. In some ways, it was rather lacking, but it expressed a certain playfulness well enough. "So, now what are we going to do;" he asked in an innocent, somber manner despite his wide smile. He was still sitting on X'ni. Entirely merciless, when he tried, he wiggled in an annoying way, pinning the other rider's hands down on the furs with his own.
There are no perfect endings, You peel back the layers, And get down to the inside, But sometimes you loose sight.

That good-for-nothing blue! Enlith snarled, growled, and didn't grace him with a reply. She pushed after him, fast as ever, chasing him through the sky. It wasn't exactly her idea of what she wanted to do first thing in the morning, but she wasn't going to drop out now. No, that's probably what he wanted! Her to give up! She wouldn't. Not in a million Turns!
"Ah!" X'ni yelped. His eyes had been closed, and he definitely hadn't been expecting that. Oh no, he was being attacked! He didn't act much like someone being assaulted, though, remaining completely stationary. A lopsided smirk came across his face as he opened his eyes to look at F'lan. Cheeky bastard. X'ni chuckled, with F'lan still on top of him holding him down. See, now that F'lan wasn't doing anything more productive, he couldn't help it. X'ni adopted a rather cocky look. Yes, he was irresistible, and yes, he knew it. To F'lan, at least.
Oh, shards, there was that question again. He was sick of that question by now! It was easy to answer now, though, not like before when he honestly didn't know. What other answer could he give now? "I have no idea," he purred seductively, smirk still there. Obviously that was a lie.

Once I made a man all out of snow, He had the darkest eyes and a button nose, I told him all my sadness and my fear, And he just listened with a snowy ear.
Seceth basked in two pieces of glory. The first was the glory of the lovely, playful game they were playing. He, as the very complicated, odd individual of a dragon that he was, enjoyed nothing more than a good airborne chase. The second was the glory of the little plan in his mind. It was good one, such a good one! It was good in both an innocent and evil fashion, the best of everything! She was gaining on him. He could sense her, getting closer. A little farther, a little farther, he pushed himself onward. Then, all of a sudden, he darted to the side. A rocky pillar, a common feature of the rugged, empty expanse, had risen up beside them. He slipped around it. Then he came to rest on the ground. In front of him, it dropped away in a cliff. Sunlight painted the expanse beyond it. You're more beautiful than any of this and anything in it; he told her, sounding quite sure.
F'lan rolled his eyes at X'ni's stupid, confident look, even as the greenrider's chuckling made his spine tingle. The majority of his brain agreed wholeheartedly with what he was doing. That was because the majority of his brain could be easily contented with base instincts and needs, and it was well aware that it was going to get what it wanted if things continued like they were going. However, two tiny parts started screaming at him to stop. One of the tiny parts thought he shouldn't give X'ni what he thought he deserved, because that little part was a bastard. The other tiny part had never liked X'ni, and thought he should run far, far away. As usual, he didn't listen to those tiny parts. Instead, he slowly leaned down, adjusting his weight and hold so he could keep X'ni pinned to the furs, and kissed him, tugging gently at the other rider's bottom lip with his teeth and grinning.
And winters come, and my love, the winters go, And time stacks up in piles like winter snow, And everything you love and hold so dear, Won't really matter when we disappear.

Enlith chased the infernal blue endlessly. It was frustrating, too! He was so large, but yet, each time she got close to snagging his tail, he slipped away again. Since when was he this good?! It wasn't logical. Logically, he should be slower, seeing as he was much bigger than she. Illogically, though, he was winning! Enlith snarled in her throat, but she didn't give up. Then, to her surprise, he wound his way around a rock and then he was on the ground, settling down. Confused, she dropped next to him, peering out over the cliff. Then, he spoke to her, and she folded her wings in a smug sort of manner. She didn't say anything back, but she was flattered, definitely.
So he'd done that just so he could show he this? Well, she supposed he wasn't that bad after all.
X'ni smiled into F'lan's kiss. Enlith's warm, proud feelings were seeping into him, too, and he kissed back with confidence. He really wanted nothing more right now than this. Well, he would have liked to have his arms around his pretty little Faolan, too, but he could deal with being pinned. It just added a little something more.
Mmmmm, kinky.

That night you took away, A little more than just my breath. I swear to god that I was, Thinking about the summer.
The inner part of Seceth, the evil little devil, smirked to itself when he saw Enlith settle more calmly beside him. The outer part of Seceth, the childish trickster who had complimented her, beamed a dragon's happy smile, showing off his teeth in a slightly wicked but mainly cheerful manner. She was pleased! She wouldn't be anger at him any longer, which meant that he had won. He liked winning. Seeing her happy with him wasn't so bad either. It was at least much easier. Behind him, his tail twitched from side to side in a joyful manner. Silently, he reached over with his tail and brushed it against hers before withdrawing, respectful yet playful.
F'lan grinned to himself in a manner that rather mimicked his dragon's inner thoughts on his success with Enlith as X'ni kissed back with confidence. Such a cheeky little devil. However, he still had control of the greenrider's arms, and he planned to make full use of that advantage. Physically, they were perfectly matched. They'd proven that fact before, with blood and pain and all of the warped events that made up them as a couple. By that point in their relationship, they just got to have fun. Drawing back from the kiss, keeping his lips hovering just out of reach, he rolled a few times to the side, dragging X'ni with him.
((Nope, I'm good. ^^ Finished!))
