Name: G'can (formerly Grescan)
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Sexuality: Homosexual
Location: Dalibor Weyr
Rank: Weyrling
Personality:
Because Grescan spent so many turns caring for his mother, after his father's death, he is very focused on making himself reliable. He is used to caring for others, watching out for someone less able to care for themself.
He's accustomed to being highly independent, having to take care of everything himself. He's not used to working with others and isn't terribly good at it, sometimes trying to take charge and boss others around a bit even when he isn't supposed to.
Still, he has good intentions. He's used to needing to rely only on his own judgment, for good or for ill, and won't readily ask others for help or advice, trying to do things for himself first even if he messes up. It's just what he's used to.
Appearance:
Grescan could have been classically handsome, with his sandy brown hair and rich blue eyes, if his nose didn't dominate his face quite so much. He's still not unattractive, but not to everyone's taste. His hair tends to get to chin-length while he's not paying attention to it, always tousled and messy, disobedient.
He has a bit of muscle, having kept active as much as he could over the turns, taking care of everything about his family's home, both in Eastern and in Crescent. Five-six and broad-shouldered, he's very able-bodied and capable of holding his own in physical tasks.
Family:
Father: Garritar (deceased)
Mother: Meesca (deceased)
Pets:
Firelizard:
Name: Sweep
Color: Orange F87431
Personality:
With a grossly inflated ego and a sense of entitlement over the rest of the world, Sweep is an Orange to the extreme. She will harangue and boss about everyone, be they firelizard, human, or dragon, and nothing pleases her more than when someone finally gets sick of her scolding and squeaking and leaves.
Depending on how close she is to Flight, her main attentions will be on one sex or the other. If it is going to be quite some time before she rises again, she will mostly focus on harassing females, attempting to assert her made-up position in the pecking order.
If it is closer to her Flight, however, then she will turn her full fervor onto the males of the Weyr--no matter their species, as she is slightly insane--and badger them to remind them that their would-be-queen is going to be the center of attention soon.
Appearance:
Graceful and refined, which only makes her more assured of herself, Sweep is a lizardess of great poise. Her small chest and arched, slender wings make her highly agile in flight, and her sharply tapered snout and thin neck allow her to cut through the air with great speed.
Her slightly shortened limbs are inconvenient on the ground, but she would not be caught dead walking about like a common beast; she has wings, she flies! And there her slightly short legs are a help if anything, providing less of a burden for her.
A bright but sort of softer tone, her hide is a rather sandy orange in shade, pretty in a gentler sort of way. Not terribly shiny, it is more like velvet, with rippling gleams that appear here and there rather than an overall shine. Deeper, almost red-tinged orange flecks in teardrop shapes over the membranes of her wings.
History:
Grescan was the first and only child born to Meesca and Garritar, a pair of simple holders living in Eastern Hold. Life was usual for him when he was a young child--his parents loved him and treated him well, teaching him. Both were fishers, and imparted some love of the craft onto their son, though he was still too young and rambunctious to settle down to work often.
And then an accident took Garritar's life--or at least, it was said to be an accident, but the details were never made clear--and Meesca became withdrawn, nervous. She refused to believe it was truly an accident that had killed Garritar. In her mind, it had to be something much more sinister that had taken away her husband, there was no other possibility that she could accept. Garritar had always been careful, after all.
As a result of her growing paranoia, she became extremely defensive of her only son, sheltering the ten-turn-old Grescan intently. For turns she kept him safe by controlling where he was and who he spoke to, keeping him tightly leashed so that he could not get into any trouble. She told him stories of the dangerous things that could happen, of people who might want to take him away like they'd taken Garritar away.
Grescan could not try to break away from his mother's stifling grasp, because he was all she had left and he felt obliged to stay with her, keep her company. As turns went by he grew used to it. Finally, halfway through his eighteenth turn, he hit upon an idea.
He suggested to his mother that they leave this place, go far away, someplace no one was likely to follow them. It took much convincing, but finally Meesca agreed to travel and flee their former home.
The trip to Crescent Hold, however, was not kind. Meesca grew ill on the way there, and by the time they at last arrived, she was frightfully weak. Grescan tended to her for weeks until at last she passed in her sleep, leaving him unexpectedly alone in a new Hold and not certain what he would do there.
He was lost and wandering when he was found by a Searchrider from Dalibor, surprised when the rider swept down to inform him that he could be brought to the Weyr. With nothing left tying him elsewhere, he agreed, and thus became a Candidate.
It was at his first Clutch at Dalibor, after the arrival of the mystifying new color Cyan, that his own bondmate for the rest of his life found him--he Impressed the Blue Tecarracath, and he became G'can.
Dragon Name: Tecarracath
Dragon Age: <1 Turn
Dragon Color: Blue 120A8F
Dragon Length: 29 ft.
Dragon Personality:
Tecarracath enjoys being easygoing. Life, as he prefers it, should be slow-paced and fairly simple, and composed of soft good things. He isn't exactly lazy--well, he is, but he isn't lazy because he exactly hates activity. He is lazy because he enjoys a lack of activity.
Somewhat hedonistic, in a way, Tectec enjoys being warm and relaxed. It is his favorite activity, whether that be the water of a warm bath, the warm ledge on a sunny day, or anywhere else that might be particularly comfortable. He doesn't like to wake up early, either.
He is playful and confident still, even if he doesn't indulge in it often. If convinced into it, he will tumble about a bit for entertainment, but it rarely lasts that long. When he does have a reason to get a move on, he is diligent and firm about it, doing his duty without much complaint. But as soon as he gets the choice he'll be lounging in the sun again.
Dragon Appearance:
Soft and wide, sometimes Tecarracath's thickness is interpreted as slothful fat, the result of his preference for an easygoing lifestyle that does not involve too much stress. His body is big and rounded out, though not long at all for a Blue, narrowly within the minimum average length for his color. It makes him appear even chunkier, as all his size is compacted into that relatively short length.
However, despite involving himself in fewer physical activities than many dragons, Tectec does not really have much in the way of actual fatty padding on him. His rounded form is sleek, in the way a heavy runner can be sleek, well put together and functional, if not greatly agile or fast. He is a stayer. His muscles work smoothly and his occasional difficulties in so much as standing up are simple reluctance, not any physical handicap.
Tectec's hide, on the other hand, could hardly be criticized as being less than beautiful. A rich blue, bold and brilliant as summer sunlight, meandering in shade between cobalt and sapphire, a brilliantly deep blue that is evenly shaded across his hide. The only noticeable variations are a few subtle stripes, difficult to notice in anything but sunlight, up along from the tip of his snout to his first neck ridge.
Dragon History:
Only having just hatched, Tecarracath's history is yet mostly a blank slate. He has much time yet to build a unique life of his own with His.
