You Know You're A DRoP Addict When . . .

I've seen things like this around at multiple places and am not quite sure who to credit this idea to but this is the thread to post all the ways you can think of to know that you're a Dragonriders of Pern addict.

1. You've called money (dollars, euros, etc.) 'marks' before.
2. You regularly call your dog a 'canine' or your cat a 'feline'.
3. Racehorses are typically 'runners' in your mind and aloud.
4. When you eat fish, you're eating 'packtails', 'yellowtail', 'whitefin', or 'redfin'. When you eat beef, you're eating 'herdbeast'. When you eat crab, you're eating 'spiderclaws'.
5. You swear in Pernese (i.e. 'shards', 'by Faranath', etc.)

When writing non-roleplaying material, you habitually capitalize 'impress,' 'thread,' and 'candidate.'

You wonder what your male friends' honorifics would be.

You wake up in a cold sweat because you dreamed that your dragon went /between/.

Seeing Mars in the sky scares you because it closely resembles the Red Star.

You've made your own riding harness, which is custom-made to fit the dragon color you would ride.

You keep a white robe nearby in case you hear humming.

(I'm only guilty of the first one ^^)

You wonder who of your friends would be searched.

You wonder what colour your friends would impress if they did get searched.

You wonder what colour you'd impress if you got searched.

You make up a dialogue between you and your dragon in your head.

You dream about riding a dragon, going between, fighting thread, etc.

1. You call any large collection of human civilization a hold. (so have done this before... people thought I was weird)

2. Musicians, poets, etc... are always going to be Harpers in your mind. (am also guilty of this)

3. Dolphins are Shipfish. Period.

4. Circles of dead plantlife make you wary of thread.

5. Instead of sugarplums, visions of firelizards dance in your head.

23. You've mistaken words that don't even look at all like a Pernese word for a Pernese word, so things like "Jump on it!" becomes "Shard on it!" and "Right over here." becomes "Right over Pern."
24. You've accidentally called your teacher "harper" or "Mrs./Mr./Miss Harper".
25. When people ask you what you want to be when you grow up, you automatically reply "a dragonrider."

(because I can't keep up with numbers... I'm just bulleting this suckah)

- You seriously have nightmares of thread eating you alive.

- You believe, somewhere, that thread is real.

- For a science project you studied the lifecycle of thread.

- It is easy for you to pick out a DRoP fan simply from the fact that they use certain words in their vocabulary far more than other people. (like a copse of trees, for example...)

- You compare your friends to well-known dragonriders when describing them.
